  1. I am not an underwear folderer because I am lazy AF. My kids are teens so no pics I have a general idea of what I'm doing gift wise for Christmas. I have one gift finished and it's sitting upstairs. I don't think I will be able to finish another by Christmas but we won't be seeing them so I'm not fussed. The daughter is turning 13 Dec 21, so I've also been scouting out birthday stuff, too. But it's going to be a real quiet Christmas by us and I am quite happy with that. Thanksgiving we changed things up a bit this year. First, I should note that Mr. Toast went to college in this area so when we moved here 14 years ago, we had a family friend that we spend a lot of time with. Their son is a year younger than ours, his mom calls Mr. Toast the good son. We go on vacation together sometimes. We spend Thanksgiving and Christmas together sometimes. I should also note that we have two goofy greyhounds and we can't bring them to friend's house AND Mr. Toast has celiac disease so we offer to host a lot. Also, the mom/nana has bad knees/back and stuff and we'd like to make it easier for her. She really wants to host Thanksgiving. Mr. Toast's family would really like him to travel to see them. So this year I suggested a change up. We are hosting a "Friendsgiving" on Sunday so we can all get together and Mr.Toast can get to see his family, my mom can work on Friday and adopted mom can host her own. My kids have taken the Friendsgiving part to heart and have invited some of their friends too. Instead of making a turkey and all the trimmings, we're going to do Swedish meatballs and we're tweaking a "Thanksgiving" meatball. On actual Thanksgiving I'm going to be snuggled on my couch with my doggos watching the parade and eating throughout the day. Adopted mom is all if you get lonely come over and I'm all, this is heaven.
  2. We've had two (?) special elections in my city this year. One really important one to vote on a new high school was in April I think. (I'm so bad) So it could be she was voting in a special election in May.
  3. Folks, a confirmation and reminder: even though a third party named a victim doesn't mean that the rule against naming victims has been lifted. Your post will be removed.
  4. The new Current Squad and Social Media topic is up and running. It's the perfect place to continue the talk about the team. Enjoy!
  5. The squad has been selected and is out performing! Discuss how they got there, how they're doing and what they're saying on Social Media. And remember, there is no prize for consensus. Posters will have different opinions about people/situations. It is not their job to convince or persuade you. It is not a personal attack. It's just the spice of life. You can disagree respectfully, you cannot scold, lecture or demand an explanation. If a poster is violating the guidelines, REPORT but do not respond. Happy Posting!
  6. Let's bring it back to Josh and Anna, please.
  7. This is not the place to get into the abortion debate. Move on. Ignoring this announcement, having to get the last word in, will result in your post being removed and a possible warning.
  8. I remember seeing that and we thought it was a continuation of the joke from the movie of the warnings being at the end instead of up front. (Not that distracted driving is a joke, because it's not and what was shown could definitely happen. Just the warning part of it.)
  9. I found this recipe for roasted chicken and it has never failed me. I love it so much because the gravy is so freaking awesome. I am going to try it with a cut up chicken instead of of an entire one just because it would be easier to maneuver but I don't know what the time would be. I would think it would be less time. Flipping that sucker is the pits.
  10. Folks, a reminder as we sometimes see some push for people to "prove" or explain why the feel a way. From the Mod Announcement and Policies: No one has to prove or explain why they think Jeremy is the way he is. You can disagree with a poster without demanding that they explain or prove it.
  11. I just edited the episode topics according to what TLC says. TLC changed the season number half way through the season. Because reasons? Given how screwed up TLC is about episodes and numbering, don't worry too much about getting the right number. It can be fixed. And undoubtedly TLC will change it in a few months anyway because it's fun messing with us. I hate TLC.
  12. My 12 yo daughter had tonsil and adenoid removal surgery in February. She suffered the complication of bleeding and ended up vomiting a liter of blood at the ER. (We were aware of the possibility, had called surgeon when she vomited a little blood and went to ER per her instructions) The ER team was wonderful--even if the nurse hadn't been helping us, she took care of the situation and listened to us. They knew what she was in for, they were talking with surgeon, the lines of communication were clear. (The ER doc was definitely concerned after she vomited all that blood and made sure to let us know that we were monitoring and everything was ready should it be needed. It's the model for keeping patients calm but informed and also definitely cared for) Love that hospital and it's five minutes from the house. However, they do not admit pediatric patients. Sigh. So after she had her second surgery to close off the bleeder, we had to be transported to another hospital. It happened to be a children's hospital. She had lost a lot of blood and they were close to thinking she needed a transfusion. Because she had lost so much blood, she was quite anemic. Despite the fact that we were at a children's hospital, and even though it was on her record that she'd had tonsil removal surgery, we were told three effing times that she needed to take an iron pill. The second and third times were after we reminded the doc/nurses that she was supposed to get some iron. And each time we asked if it could be put in her IV. Nope. no can do. Instead, the solution was for a kid who just had her tonsils removed and a second surgery hours ago to swallow one of those huge iron pills. NO! She can't! Are you not reading what she's in here for?!? She can't swallow solid food right now. It has to be liquid. WTF is wrong with you people? Then it was, well, she has to eat something when her surgeon was fine with just getting liquids in. And they bring up dry chicken and dry mashed potatoes. We finally pitched a fit and demanded to know what the fuck was going on and what metric she would need to be released because apparently they had never had a kid with tonsil surgery in a fucking children's hospital. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had and it could have been handled better if the nurses/doctors actually read the chart and actually listened to us. God, it makes me angry to this day. On the plus side, it got her over her fear of needles because she had so many tests and the IV hook-up. And she ended up having to take iron pills--six weeks after the surgery. We tried liquid iron, but she gagged/vomited a little on the second day and I stopped. Her regular doctor agreed that it was better she rest and recover and eat what she could and not vomit/gag. After 3 months her iron levels were fine. And she can now swallow pills where she couldn't before. Just not 6 hours after tonsil surgery, assholes.
  13. TLC itself doesn't know what it's doing with the episode numbering. They are the bleeping worst. It is what it is and I can fix it later once the season is done and effing gorram TLC figures out what the hell they want to do. I hate them.
  14. REMINDER: Discuss only the episode. NO SPOILERS. Do not discuss stuff in the current time. BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT DISCUSSING PREVIEWS!!
  15. Please don't use Duggar/Duggar adjacent social media in order to discuss current events/politics. It's trying to skirt the no politics rules and the posts will be removed. From the Mod Announcement & Policies: Discussing their generalized worldview is ok (they're pro-life etc). Actually discussing current events of the day by way of their social media is not.
  16. Let's return to the topic please.
  17. Two reminders: As we hit election season, do not discuss politics anywhere on PTV. No political ads or no mentions of politics. Posts will be removed and warnings potentially handed out. If you see a post that has politics or in anyway violates the posting guidelines, please report it--do not engage or mod the forum. Thank you
  18. Jinger and Jeremy throw a gender reveal party for the family and the family has a surprise of their own for Jinger; Josiah and Lauren celebrate their upcoming wedding with a game of giant foosball; Joe and Kendra welcome their baby boy.
  19. Remember to discuss the SHOW and not the other posters or how we're all posting. Several posts have been removed.
  20. Please don't post directions to possibly pirate sites for the episodes. Those will be removed as it is not permitted here. Also, please, keep on topic, if someone asks, you can reply taking it to PM and then do that.
  21. Folks, please don't ask for links to episodes. People may instruct, in Small Talk, how to find episodes on CMT or Amazon, but actually providing a link to an episode is not ok.
  22. NO SPOILERS! Discuss what happened during the episode ONLY. Be civil, there is no need to agree or reach consensus. Everyone is allowed their own opinion. Use the ignore feature if a poster is bothering you but isn't posting against the rules. Report, don't engage. NO SPOILERS!
  23. Kitty comes to a rehearsal and stirs things up; the new candidates bond, then are judged as they perform at a mock appearance; Travis Wall comes to town.
  24. I think because all of the other recent trailers we have had a pretty good idea of what had happened and what was going to happen that the vagueness was understandable because we could fill in the gaps. This trailer feels weirdly unsatisfactory because I don't know Carol. I only know Nick and Phil. So they were smart to lean into the Nick connection. But it seems to be posing the questions that will hopefully be answered in the film. But it's questions we, the audience, already had, so it almost feels...frustrating. It's so vague, there's no sense of dread or excitement. Just... some foreboding music and not much else. I will be there in March. I don't need an exciting trailer to get me in the theater. But it is kind of....bland. All the other trailers--for Ant-Man or Guardians were at least quirky and cute. This doesn't want to give anything away and in doing so is not really enticing. But, I will be there and am looking forward to it. And now I will go watch it again about 10 times and change my mind.
  25. The Duggars celebrate Jana and John David's 28th birthday with a family ski trip; Jinger and Jeremy tour a birth center and find out the gender of their baby; Lauren goes shopping for the perfect wedding gown.
