As someone who slogged through the Inhumans show (it had potential but it was such a chore with next to no likable characters), what you describe is the basis and the conflict of the show. Like I said, it had promise, but it was handled badly and they had these weird side stories that were just dumb. But that premise was interesting.

My grandma put sugar in her tomatoes, too. Cut up tomatoes and sugar is a delightful summer treat. I never knew of anyone else doing it until reading here today.

My daughter was sick last week in the hotel, poor thing. First she got the back to school cold which didn't manifest until day 2, so we took it easy. But later on in the week she ate imitation krab for the first time and I'm pretty sure that's why she was sick later that night. However, I had brought ibuprofen, allergy med, Pepto, Lactaid and various band-aids in a pseudo medical bag knowing how much hotels charge for that stuff. (I also brought a room spray and Poopourri because I know my tummy would not be good with theme park food) Sadly, she took the Pepto just to make herself vomit. She was feeling better by morning, at least. It's like when I tell my kids to bring their umbrellas to school. If they don't bring it, it will rain. If they do bring it, it won't rain. It's the universe giggling at us.

I'm a big fan of the original stories, too, and it was such a pleasure to see characters that weren't necessarily exact adaptions, but got the feel of the relationship the two shared. To be fair, it's a bit more superficial in the books, but, there was always the undercurrent of partners on an adventure. Yeah, I knew exactly who Ronald Adair was and was not surprised what happened. (Though, in the books, it was Moran) It really is missing in a whole lot of adaptions and it's such a shame because it's what I love about the canon Holmes. I started watching because it was a Sherlock Holmes adaptation and I'm a sucker for those. I stayed because it clicked with me, I really liked how Watson and Holmes clicked. And then I just loved how they sprinkled in so much fun stuff. Ms Hudson. Clyde. Everyone. Bell and Gregson. Kitty. The Nose (was that the name?) It just worked so well and I'm going to miss it. I have discovered it is eminently rewatchable.

I tried an online size calculator but wanted to actually try on that size. Went to a bra store that wasn't terribly far and that calculator size was not correct. I can fit between a 40D /38DD. And some styles just do not work. The poor lady was determined to get me in this one bra and we could not get it right. One of my boobs is bigger than the other by more than a teensy bit, so a lot of styles it's either overflowing on one side or sagging on the other. Weirdly, I found a clearance 38DD at Kohl's that is just fabulous. I'm leaning more towards the 38 band because I can put it on the last set of hooks and when the elastic starts wearing out, I can go up in the hooks. I was at the hairdresser yesterday and she was astounded that I wash my bras separately in the delicate cycle. I explained that I'm super lazy and technically you're supposed to be handwashing them but no way am I going to be leaning over to the bathtub to wash my bras. Delicate cycle will have to do. I also discovered that apparently I know witchcraft because I can fold a fitted sheet. I learned on youtube a few years ago. There was a Martha Stewart one and she commented "Or you could just wash your sheets and put them back on and not have to worry about folding." I do that A LOT.

My kids first concert was last week--Queen with Adam Lambert. They had a blast! That's going to be a hard one to top. I'm not a big one for concerts, but I've been to Paul McCartney and the Billy Joel/Elton John concert. But they're so loud and it's so late and the traffic is so bad. Blergh. Weirdly, sitting in the traffic after seeing a play doesn't bother me as much. But that takes forever, too.

I was there last night. At the stage door of the Lyceum waiting for the cast to come out when a huge crowd started fleeing up 45th street. All I heard was "Fire" which I couldn't see a fire. My husband heard people say Shots Fired. We did not run with the crowd even though many of the group. We waited because we did not see or hear a threat. The stage door was canceled and we went back to our hotel. My daughter (like her parents) loves musical theater and Be More Chill is closing. As a special treat, we took her to see it yesterday. Using points, we were able to stay at a hotel. Both my husband and I grew up in one of the bedroom communities in Orange County, so we've been to Broadway shows before. (I went to see Kiss of the Spiderwoman for my prom. Same price, waaaay better time) She was a little freaked out, but handled it well. Despite the crowd, we remained relatively calm and we still had a great trip.

I watched it at home last night and I loved it more. In the scene where Nat and Steve are talking about how they haven't moved on, there is a pair of point shoes on a chair next to Nat. What a great little blink and you'll miss it set decoration. If I was savvy I'd post a picture, but sadly, I'm not.

I don't want the scenes included solely to piss off people. After giving it some thought, and thinking of how many all male shots like that there have been, I was ok with the pandering. Because hell yes there should be some pandering. And honestly, all this talk about how it wasn't right because of this reason or that reason sounds an awful lot like how the goal posts are always moved for women to achieve anything or be acknowledged for anything. It's just the same narrative where it's never the right time or never the right 'thing', whatever that thing might be. Eff that noise. Give me those blatant scenes so we can all see them. And it seems like Marvel has seen the money they can get for diversifying which can only be a smart business move. Is it pandering? When they're making that much money wouldn't it just be a realization that supposed 'niche' markets are actually not just for that one market. That if done well it will also have a universal appeal. And if they promote the idea that they are trying to gain a larger audience by being inclusive, I'm all for it. (The only one I won't watch is Blade because vampires scare the shit out of me and I don't want to sleep with the lights on for a week.) This probably isn't clear or making much sense, but in sum I don't want diversity or representation because of spite. I want it because it's good storytelling and it's interesting and I want to see different people with different histories so I can understand my fellow human beings better. And if Marvel emphasizes that and makes money off it, too? All the better. And I just realized that Endgame should be available for me to watch right now if I want. WOO HOO!! It's going to be stupidly hot here today, and I know what I'm doing.

That sounds perfect, @Jynnan tonnix. I visited Scotland over Christmas vacation when I was studying abroad in Paris with a Scottish friend I made in Paris. I was staying with a family but it did get cold (though, having lived in NY and my university was in Binghamton, it was not that cold) and their pipes froze. I loved it though and had memorable time.

My mom dislocated her toe walking down stairs holding my son. She kind of fell and while trying to stay upright and not drop her grandson, she bashed her toe into the wall at the bottom of the stairs. Took her to the ER the next day (it was a weekend) and the doc came in after all the work up and asked, "This toe?" My mom says yes. And he yanks it into place. She was gobsmacked and pissed off. But that was about all they could do. She was told they don't really set toes as they do fingers, you kind of just get used to it. But this was 16 years ago, so I may be remembering wrong.

I think that Nebula knew that Gamora didn't leave Vormir, but I don't think she knew that Thanos killed her. She could assume that Thanos let her die/didn't try to save her. She wasn't there and Thanos didn't explain the whole soul for a soul thing. Perhaps Nebula figured that having a team that wasn't hell bent on destroying the universe would figure out a way to get both out alive. And maybe that's why Widow and Hawkeye went because they knew they were a formidable team that had worked together for so long and they weren't going to let anything happen to the other.

When I had bunion surgery 7 years ago, they were several confirmations about which toe was to be operated on. They even marked it with a Sharpie. So I was a little taken aback, too, that such an error could have occurred even though I had heard of such mishaps occurring. Perhaps he didn't go through checklist and really didn't want it to come out that he was so lax and not following standard procedure. I did appreciate that Watson explained that the victim would not have known immediately because the after care and post surgery pain would be similar. It wouldn't be until she really looked after the swelling went down that she would know. I wonder if he scarred her so he could "rescue" her and fix her since he screwed up? Also, it was a way to erase, effectively, what he did without killing her. So when she did jump he was shocked? How difficult is it jump into a shaft, though. That seems dang near impossible to do. I was so pleased to see that Joan and Sherlock hadn't forgotten about Marcus and his career advancement. And I was ticked when Gregson was nudging him to stay. Dude, cut it out. Let him pursue these opportunities.

So very sorry for your loss, @Happyfatchick. It is heartbreaking losing a friend. @Mindthinkr, I'm sorry your daughter is lashing out at you like that. That can't be easy.

Yeah, as funny as it sometimes was to see Thor fat, when Prof Hulk was trying to talk to him, saying how Thor saved him and he's going to help Thor now, I don't think Thor was there solely for comic relief. His whole breakdown with Rocket in Asgard while funny because it's not the Thor we're used to, it's also so heartbreaking because he lost everything, even himself. I'm glad he's going with the Guardians who have no expectation of what he should be and how he should be. And I'm glad he saw his mother and not his father. He needed that validation that it's ok to be lost and it's ok to be who you are and not what is expected of you. What's the expression, it' so bad that if you didn't laugh you'd cry. That, for me, is Thor in this movie. But I laughed a lot at some of the Thor stuff. Chris Hemsworth walked the line between pathos and humor so well. He is perfect as Thor. Actually I can't think of one misstep in casting.

I saw it the second weekend and the theater laughed quietly at most things. We were a group of 10 and couldn't get seats together (and we paid for those tickets and chose the seats a week in advance). Right during the first few minutes--I think it was Tony and Nebula doing table football--one of my group who was sitting across the theater from me let out a huge laugh and the audience was silent. My daughter, who was sitting next to me, and I started laughing silently because we knew exactly who that was who laughed. I think Tony's quips and Rocket's snark got the most laughs, though Rhodey and his snark was a close second. "Do you know what runs through my veins?" "Cheez-whiz?" hahahaha! Poor Thor.

@Morrigan2575 that does look new. Also, it looks good. I heard Disney Plus is launching some time in November but I don't know how long after Clone Wars will start. I'm looking forward to the Marvel mini shows, but I am really, really looking forward to this.

The domain name changed which would necessitate logging in. If you look at your address bar, the website name is different. It says forums.primetimer instead of forums.ptv. I was on the lookout for that change since it was mentioned as I assumed I would have to change my favorite.

I only saw it once, too, @Perfect Xero, so maybe I'm mashing scenes together, but for some reason I remember her complaining to a parent that they always let her brother do it and she wanted to do it, too. Which, as you pointed out in the end, she needs to learn how to use her powers. But I think the flashbacks were to show she was prevented from even trying to learn to do things. I also think the flashbacks were also supposed to show that yes, you will fail at first. The important thing is learning from that and trying again. To not be allowed to fail and learn was holding her back. And thinking about it, how fearless is she? How many people don't try something for fear of failure? Perhaps that's what the author of the article is conflating arrogance with? Carol was fearless and just plowed ahead. Never mindlessly but determined to do something even if she failed at first.

Harris is only in the second one, A Game of Shadows. It's not the best movie, if I'm honest, but he's awesome in it. Also awesome in that movie is Stephen Fry as Mycroft.

Oh my god, I heard that song in Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows. Moriarty is playing it as he tortures Holmes. I played it just now to hear it and Mr. Toast perked up and said, "That's from that Sherlock Holmes movie." (I love Sherlock Holmes and Jared Harris was a fantastic Moriarty. RDJ and Jude Law....less so. Book Holmes is still my favorite.)
