Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
RealityGal replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
Oh, I hope not, Zach's game is confusing, and I think it would be interesting to see if Derrick can be as slick in a house full of people just as slick. I think if offered though, Derrick would do it. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts campaigning for it as soon as he realizes that a lot of people think he only won because he was in a house of people who didn't want to play. He wants to be a big name player, IMO, I remember him saying something in the DR about how he would be the "only player never put on the block!" and to me, it just sounded like he wanted to be remembered as an awesome player, in part for playing a game where he managed to never be up on the block. If Derrick wins this season, a lot of people would/could question whether it was his skill that won it for him, or the lack of anyone else's skill. But if he won or even did well in an All Star season, no one could question him anymore. -
The Cast In Other Roles: Beyond the Boardwalk

OMG - if you guys haven't caught Steve Buschemi in 30 Rock, you must. He is so funny, but maybe watch it after this show ends, because he is such a different character. And it gets much funnier, I just don't want to totally ruin Nucky for everyone -
Can someone punch her in the throat first? She and Helen are two of the most insufferable people to grace a TV screen and I will be watching mostly just to see her and Helen get kicked off. Happy to see Chris March, Dimitry, Samantha, and Patricia (although I still don't understand her aesthetic, I have an appreciation for her personality) Kate sort of bugs me, and I don't see why they keep bringing her back.

Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out

I feel like Derrick would accept a position on an All Stars game. I mean, if/when he wins, he is going to think that America thinks he is a hot shit player, on the same level as Dan. When he realizes that a lot of people think he mostly won because the people in the house weren't that bright, he will want a chance to prove he is on the same level, gamewise, as Dan. Ouch, you know its bad when your own mother calls you a mean child. Her and Caleb's mom should get together for lunch. Although, I get the feeling Caleb's mom probably likes him, but was probably trying to talk him out of sending in a MENSA application. Ewww. I can understand selling your dignity for big time fame, but for YouTube videos, and vlogs? Smitten Kittens wear Kitten Mittens! Sorry, I'm a fan of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, so I had to say it. -
i would imagine its a tough position for FN. I would think (and its all supposition really) that they would want to capitalize on the success of the winner of FNS by starting the pilot right away and airing it as soon as possible. But at this point, with all the bad press around Lenny, they would do better to give people a chance to forget about all the negative stuff, so maybe thats why they put him on the back burner. The only thing that stinks about that, is that people are also going to forget about whatever made them like Lenny in the first place, and I think they will be much less invested in watching his show.

I'm not a farmer, but I've seen cows on TV. They never look like they are fighting to get out, and will only try some funny business if there is a commotion.

Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood - General Discussion
RealityGal replied to quetzal's topic in Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood
Yeah, because the one thing I really hold onto in the world is the hope that B2K will get back together. I cared more about New Edition and Bell Biv Devoe, and frankly, I'm not really all that broken up that thought groups are no longer together either so..... -
Or at least to be able to borrow design elements. And to some degree to enable knockoffs. I mean, what if the first person who created the pencil skirt and crop top could put it under copyright? All of Miranda's models would have had to walk down the runway in underwear and a bra!

That would be an idiotic move on his part. Being a spokesperson is the easiest money a person can get. An actor can continue to act because those commercials are a one day gig, and they tend to pay in the millions especially if you become synonymous with the product. Almost every big name actor/celebrity is trying to get a deal to become a spokesperson for a company for that very reason. Morgan Freeman, Samuel Jackson, Lawrence Fishburne, Charalize Thereon, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Katie Holmes are all celebrities who do commercial work. Despite the fact that they aren't real projects. Commercials are steady work, especially if you become part of a company's brand you'll have work for years, and he would be moronic to automatically write off being an insurance spokesperson just because he considers himself too good for anything besides real projects. Once CM ends, the easiest way for him to remain in front of his target audience is to actually be on TV portraying the same character traits that he has as Hotchner. That type of "character" is most often found in the realm of insurance. If TG is under the impression he is better than the likes of Sam Jackson, Morgan Freeman and Lawrence Fishburne, to the point that he is will only do real projects, I think he is sorely mistaken. ETA: I did some research, and while Haysbert's salary from Allstate isn't published, Flo from Progressive Insurance makes half a million a year. Matt Damon got paid $3 million to be in one Nespresso ad. Haysbert is somewhere in the middle, at the time he was in the Allstate commercial, he was an actor from a popular show (24) and both him and his voice were recognizable and carried authority. But he certainly isn't as famous as Matt Damon, although Damon wasn't paid to really be a spokesperson, as much as to simply appear in one commercial for 20 seconds. So, I would speculate that Haysbert, makes about 1.5 - 2.0 million per year for his commercial work for Allstate. That is 1.5 - 2.0 million dollars for what amounts to about 2-3 days of work per year. TG makes 4.8 million per year for CM. Which requires months of taping. So, in 2-3 days, Haysbert ostensibly makes over 1/3 of what TG makes in months of work. And Haysbert has the freedom to do other ad work if he wants to (he does a few voice overs), or pursue any other acting job that he wants.

I agree, and would only add, that Derrick IIRC also seems to know that Donny is liked by America, so why not pick someone that America likes so much. But I totally understand everyone distancing themselves from Christine. -

Do you all really think Nicole is into Hayden? I don't see the jury house or the feeds, but when they were doing the luxury competition, he kept trying to kiss her, and her body language just said she wasn't into it IMO. I somehow think that Frankie flying first class to Johannasberg (the nicer part of South Africa) and then performing his show in a theater he rents out in a school would be as far as it would go with him. The "charity" part of the entire thing would be that Frankie's "winnings" would essentially be payment for performing his show for "charity" Haven't the people of Africa suffered enough? An epidemic of Ebola, and now a one man show by Frankie? Its not right. It reminds me of when Nero would force people to watch him perform for hours because he thought he was an amazing performer. I think people would functionally commit suicide rather than watch him for hours on end. I think they all played, but Christine didn't realize that none of the HG's actually picked her shirt. No one in the house wanted to back her. Although frankly, I would have thought Jacosta would have been odd man out seeing as how she managed to lose almost every competition she was involved in. -

Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood - General Discussion
RealityGal replied to quetzal's topic in Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood
Just watched the first episode. Its not my favorite yet, but shows potential, and is good filler until LHHATL comes on again. 1. More leased vehicles! Every shot of Ray J seems to be in that car, I wonder if he lives in it? 2. What movie was Soulja Boy in? 3. Nia looks like a man 4. Moniece - Sex toys by a reality star has already been done, please see Bedroom Kandi. I don't know that the world really needs another reality show person selling sex toys. She clearly started this business once she found out she would be on a reality show, and was hoping that she could mimic the success of Bedroom Kandi, so a) that business does not explain her lack of caring for her son and b) Kandi came out with Bedroom Kandi after being on RHOA for at least a year and she had the money to back that sort of venture. You don't even have a place to live! And you just got on a show! Why should I buy anything from you, I don't even know you! I'm already tired of business ventures from reality show people, but I can understand capitalizing off of your fame, especially since you'll be entertaining me by embarrassing yourself, but you haven't even been on two episodes yet and you're trying to hoc sex toys? WTF? 4b. Moniece - How dare you sit there and talk shit to Fizz when you can't even be bothered to take care of your kid? It sounds like this stupid broad calls at 9pm to talk to a 4 year old kid. And expects a call right back! Most kids that age are in bed, or being put to bed at that time. To cop an attitude because he doesn't call her back until the next day when she can't even be bothered to take care of her kid is annoying. If she just got a regular job, instead of trying to hustle she could have reasonable hours and a place for her child to stay. But of course, its not all about her child, its all about her, so she is going to try to sell sex toys or whatever. 4c. Moniece - I also call bullshit on "the only reason I'm a crazy bitch is because my parents couldn't talk to each other." Nah, bitch, plenty of people had parents who couldn't talk, not all of them have restraining orders out against them you nutty broad. 5. Fizz and Omorion - who the hell still cares about B2K? I assure you, you are talking about it way more than anyone I've ever run into. The entire conversation with them in the barber shop was a laugh. Really? People are always stopping you and asking about B2K? To the point that it is bothersome? Really? I call bullshit. 6. Fizz - I feel bad for him, he is clearly living in a small apartment, which may or may not be in Hollywood. He is taking care of his son full time, and he apparently can only afford to lease a Charger. I hope the show works out for him. Although, if your child's mother is running around behind you waving a car seat around, maybe its because you need a car seat to drive your kid home. Just sayin' 7. Tierra Marie - She has an apartment, with a roommate? I guess not everyone is living the life! I feel like she is trying too hard, I didn't believe her in her scene in the car with Ray J. And why can't she drive herself places? And WTF was with that skirt she was wearing? You are not attracting men by pasting half of a bear skin rug to your skirt. And yes, she is clearly thirsty, but she was the first one to throw a drink, and I like that kind of commitment to crazy. 8. First time I've seen men in the LHH intro, very interesting! 9. What happened to the rest of the cast? Wasn't Yesi Ortiz supposed to be in this? And some girl who is allegedly part of a real estate empire? -
To me, on the show she looks much darker than this model, but you are right, generally models aren't short, and I suppose the lighting could make her appear lighter than she does on the show. To me the face looks a little different, but with contouring and makeup it could be.....I mean, I watch RuPaul's Drag Race, so I know that makeup can do amazing things.
-
I can't believe thats her, she looks so different!

Thats the thing is it will never really cost you anything to respectfully listen to the advice, consider it, and if you really think its wrong, blow it off. And I understand blowing it off. Now, more than ever Tim's critiques will be wildly different from the judges reaction. I don't think I watched Emilio's original season (I think I saw him on All Stars, and I really liked his stuff, but thats just me), but I think I would have been way turned off by Tim saying he was scared to go to Harlem.

He was saying something about "praying the blood of christ over you" and so I'm thinking he had an awful premonition about something happening. I think Psalms is the sort of straight talking man to where if he knew there was a threat coming, and knew what it was, he would tell you what the threat was. So, I think it must have been something of a premonition. Or perhaps he just thought a woman, alone all day in a cabin without a lock might become an easy target, but it sounded like something much more specific than that.

The only women on the show seem to be hookers, a hotel owner, the newspaper lady, the church lady and one wife. Most of the women who aren't hookers seem to be on the show by accident. Ruth came looking for her dad, who ended up dead and she took over the church, Cullen's wife and he left a Mormon settlement because he accidentally knocked her up when she was living with her family in the area, I got the impression that the hotel owner had been there long before the railroad, and may have inherited the hotel from her husband, and the newspaper lady didn't seem to plan on staying in Cheyenne either. Besides Cullen, I can't think of anyone who brought a wife or significant other to live with them. I think it would be great to have a black woman on the show, but it would seem strange to have a woman show up as someones wife or significant other since those are so few and far between in this show. Maybe a black hooker, or a black madame/casino owner would be interesting. Mickey seems so skeevy.

At first I was annoyed with Psalms, but then I realized that it was just frustration at the entire situation speaking out. He wanted someone to be angry at for an unfair situation that made no sense. I think Psalms knew as well as anyone else that Elam was irreparably broken, and probably realized that he was going to have to die because he wasn't right. But I think he was just mad at the world, at fate, at whatever for bringing back his friend, but bringing him back broken. I think he was angry and frustrated and took it out on the easiest target, Cullen. And I think he knew he was wrong which is why he gave Cullen his little bible, or why he didn't put up a fight when Cullen wanted to bury him (I don't think thats Cullen's job). I think emotions aren't always logical, but I wouldn't expect them to be in that situation. Its why i give Eva a pass for one again guilting Cullen by saying that Elam was going after him. But after this, no more passes for her, I'm tired of hearing that line from her. We get it, Elam went after Cullen, and somehow you think that makes everything Cullen's fault, you can keep it to yourself now.

From the previews it looks like they have to make outfits for the dolls too.

I think you're probably right in that it will be settled. If the managers claim for Quantum Meruit is that all of those acts he claimed to have done in the complaint, he really did, and that those actions (soothing over the other members of the CM cast and crew after fights with Gibson, soothing ruffled feathers for various directors and producers, helping out with the DUI by driving Gibson from the scene, working to get Gibson cast in roles in spite of the Captain Vanilla moniker--which, what does that even mean?) are valuable in that most actors pay someone to do those things for them. That would mean he would potentially need to subopena and depose the other actors on the set that Gibson got into fights with, the directors and producers. And those depositions would deal with such ugly things. For a guy who makes $4.8 million per year, and is probably going to want to work again its worth it just to pay $480,000 to not have those things out in public. Gibson is in his early 50's, he is a good looking guy, and with his good looks and long term role in a CBS drama, he is ripe to be a product spokesperson. Probably for the Hartford or something. And thats big money. But those companies want a guy like Gibson who is only known to most of the audience as Hotchner, the no-nonsense, good looking, tough on the outside, soft on the inside, family man who lost his wife and is raising his son on his own. They do not want someone that their audience thinks is just some entitled asshat who argues with everyone on the set because he thinks he is better than everyone.

Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out

I don't even know what that really means anymore. Do people buy CD's/albums anymore? I'm pretty old school, and even I cherry pick the songs I want and download them. And I think that so much of that, moreso now than ever before has to do with record companies marketing efforts and various campaigns on social media. If you're a creation of a record company's marketing efforts, it just means that the next one is around the corner because the talent isn't unique, the marketing is what is selling the record.
