  1. I'm just confused as to what this means. NBC is going to air it first, NBC will probably put it on its website, and then Netflix will also play it? I don't see how being the third viewing option would benefit Netflix. I mean NBC is pretty much free to everyone, unless the point will be to have commercial free viewing? Oh well, I already have netflix so I'm a happy camper, just a confused one.
  2. My parents both came from an incredibly poor country and neither of them saw any amusement in messing with or wasting food/drink, they insisted that food be treated with respect. So I think its mostly a difference in perspective, they would have had a problem with me messing with my food and/or setting fire to a cat. As for screeching, it never would have even crossed my mind as a kid to try and use that as some sort of tool to get what I want.
  3. He is some pretty sweet eye candy. Even when they try to nerd him up with the glasses he is still adorable.
  4. okay, if it was jay mccarrol who talked shit about his model, i understand. I can't remember jay sario, but that sounds like an asshole move
  5. I have every season of GG on DVD, just for emergencies like assholes trying to play Christmas movies in August or some such nonsense. What exactly does she want him to do about runaway spending in Washington? Is he going to be personally in charge of the budget? I love that political commercials are all about doing some vague thing about some problem that is only going on in Washington. I haven't even seen the commercial and I can tell you that her voice reminds me of Yoplait and paper towels you buy for kids blowing spit bubbles into chocolate milk.
  6. So question - how is she driving a Mercedes on the FBI budget being married to a 4th grade teacher? All the other FBI agents seem to drive standard American cars. I mean, I get that she got a promotion from the mobile psych unit, but come on now. Thats the thing. I get that maybe she has to "hide" her emotions with a flat affect all the time or whatever, but she is always being such a whiny, insufferable bitch to Red. She is always acting like she is calling all the shots at work and clearly she is the most junior person there, so I have no idea why they all defer to her. Oh wait, its because of Red, and his information, Red who she is a total bitch to. I wish like hell she would get into one of her disapproving snits, and he would drop her and she would fall flat on her ass and no one would kiss up to her. I wish these shows would stop writing women as such insufferable nags.
  7. or a crazy kooky cowboy who wants to have sexy times with some creamed corn
  8. Just because its Wednesday and just because I'm that sort of girl! Anyways, at about 2:30 she starts in on Phaedra.
  9. yep, you'll be seeing those in your nightmares when you go to bed Thursday night!
  10. I'm not sure if it was jay, but I remember someone having a model who was pretty clearly IMO on something that made her wonky and show up late for stuff, and I think she missed a show and he had to use someone else which put him at a disadvantage. If its the same model, I can sort of see why he made it a point to say something. It may be a Lifetime v. Bravo thing? I mean, Lifetime's version of PR has a lot to do with interpersonal drama, so it would make sense that if they wanted to cast the personalities to cause conflict they would look to the later Lifetime seasons.
  11. I think (and sincerely hope) that as we get older our perspective naturally evolves. She is young though, and I think she probably comes from a background where her looks were highly valued. She may not feel she has a position to fall back on other than pretty. I have a friend, someone I truly, truly think is a wonderful human being, and she just happens to be gorgeous. But everyone in her life growing up placed such a premium on her looks and never told her all the other amazing things she had to offer, that I think to some degree she thinks that she is only worthwhile because she is physically pretty. And so staying pretty is stressful for her, because she thinks its all she has. I suspect Victoria may be in the same position. Her family may have drilled it in her head that she needs to be pretty, marry well, and raise babies. But I know that I've gained some perspective with age, and I hope she does too.
  12. ^^I think this is the one thing that would make Derrick want to play All Stars. His desire to be seen as one of the game greats, and not that guy who won because everyone else just lost (and I don't have a super strong opinion, its just what I've seen on the boards). However if that's not the feedback he gets, if the feedback he gets is that his game was great, and he is great, and in future seasons people are trying to use his playbook than I think he may be fine to just leave well enough alone.
  13. Anytime anyone is making money anywhere in the world and its not going to Derrick his daughter is in grave danger of starvation. ;)
  14. I definitely think casting is an issue. I think its tough because a) most of the honest to goodness, badass chef talent is probably heading over to Top Chef and b) because FNS won't really pick a side, they keep saying they want both an amazing chef (so they judge their cooking) and an amazing on air personality (so they judge their personality/camera ability or whatever). That makes it really tough to find a crop of good contestants that can do both, and Food Network may not have the money to find those needles in the haystacks. They don't seem to necessarily want to develop an amazing chef into an on air personality, they want them to sort of be ready to go. So lets say you get an amazing chef, like one of the Ventagglio brothers, but they have the personality of wallpaper, like one of the Ventagglio brothers, by FNS standards, they aren't good for the show. But lets say you have someone with a great personality, like Orion (was that her name this season?), but she can't cook, she also is not a good fit for the show. I also think a lot of amazing, James Beard chefs might think that having to do things that require taping Baby Ruths to your bare chest may somewhat cheapen them and their craft. Although someone who just wants to talk about food on TV, because they just want to be on TV might be fine taping Babe Ruths to themselves. I just think FNS needs to choose which one they want and work accordingly. If they mostly want a personality who kinda knows how to cook, then have the challenges reflect that.
  15. I definitely don't think Derrick is a famewhore. But I do think he would like to have left his mark on the game. I also don't think he needs to prove anything to anyone, but its not about how I feel, it will be about how he feels. And I think its gonna grind his gears when, instead of seeing his game play as brilliant, people tell him they just think it was mediocre because he was in a house that was easy to control. And I think, if given the chance, he would want to prove that his gameplay is really good, even in a house full of people who are also really good at the game.
  16. I don't remember that moment, but it makes me sigh. I think the designer responded so passionately to a successful respected designer being the guest judge, because it was someone who was so knowledgeable about their field, someone who excelled in their field and saw their designs from a different point of view than the average person based on that knowledge and expertise. Now you have some actress who is cast on "hit of the moment" TV show talking about how they don't understand/like the "silhouette" or whatever design related word they googled before coming on the show. oh and - welcome and thanks for commenting!
  17. Yeah, I don't remember getting straws at home, I think my parents would have seen it as a totally unnecessary expense. But beyond that, in my house chocolate milk was a treat. I wasn't playing games, blowing bubbles and lollygagging when it came to chocolate milk, my game plan was to get it down my trap as soon as possible. If I had started blowing bubbles my mom would have taken it away, and that would have been punishment enough. I'm confused, his car is depreciating before its first oil change no matter what. Does he not understand the concept of depreciation? If he tries to sell his car two days after he buys it, he isn't going to get what he paid going in. Maybe he just realized this fact and is going to crash his car before his first oil change.
  18. I almost always watch this show with my earphones on. And even then I miss things and I just think "oh well, I hope whatever was said wasn't that important, or maybe I'll be able to piece it together when something big happens" This means not only do I get a show that is a great drama, but also a mystery. Bonus! Winning!
  19. well, I googled this question, and according to the one website I visited, I guess Alopecia can make you lose your eyebrows. But it was just one website, so I'm not sure, although I have heard there are different types of alopecia, so maybe you do with some types and not others
  20. While its hard to explain, I can understand Victoria wanting super long hair. Its probably because the wigs/weaves I wear are pretty long. Myself, I like long hair, and I'm not one much for trends (although at some point I think I may want to try a wig with an asymmetric cut). For Victoria, if her style is "Disney Princess" there aren't that many that have short styles. There is just something about long, thick hair that has almost always seemed acceptable in one form or another no matter what other hair trends were going on. It probably makes her feel super feminine and pretty to have the long hair, and maybe its a sign that she isn't as secure with herself as being pretty without the hair, but I don't fault her for it, because I think a lot of women have the same type of vanity, and I don't think vanity is a bad thing either. And Victoria strikes me as the type of girl who likes male attention, most men like longer hair in my experience. And if her hair is growing back post alopecia it may not be growing in very thick either, which may stress her out. I think she should try another method too. I'm not sure if she is afraid, but I might have suggested a wig. The ones I have don't require any glue, are made of good quality hair, don't look "wiggy" and it costs about the same as one set of her extensions. She could easily remove it at night and restyle it, it doesn't really come off unless you're taking it off and I don't think it would hurt her scalp, and might help her own hair to grow since she wouldn't have to expose her own hair to heat/excessive brushing. Very few people I run into realize its a wig at all until I tell them. But I think your friend probably has fusion extensions and those are good too (although a little too pricey for my pocketbook!)
  21. Oh thats cool, I took it off, because I didn't want to offend anyone. I don't think Amber meant any harm either.
  22. It sounds like she has alopecia. The guy from Kris Kross has it, and his hair fell all the way out. I feel for Victoria in that regard, and it seems mean that people assume that using extensions makes her somehow particularly vain and shallow. I'm sure she has given other indications of that, but the hair industry is a billion dollar industry, mostly aimed at women. Which means most women think that hair is important. It would take the most secure of women to feel comfortable with all her hair falling out. We have all sorts of products on the market for hair loss, to make hair thicker, most lustrous, everything in the book. And to a young girl who wants to be a Disney Princess, or even to a woman who wants to feel attractive and confident, hair is going to be a big part of that. I don't understand her shame over it. I wear wigs and weaves, and while I'm not going to tell a guy I start dating that I'm wearing a wig or a weave, if I had to live with people 24 hours a day, I would probably just let them know. What I don't quite understand is if she is clipping the extensions in why she is paying $600 every 2-3 months. My extensions are normally sewn in, a sew in weave will last about 2 months, and even then, if you buy good hair you can reuse it. But for a sew in weave, you can't remove the extensions to wash them, so they are on 24 hours a day. I don't understand why, if she is taking the extensions out at night, she has to buy them every 2-3 months. And her hair looks good, but not phenomenal, so my guess would be that she just doesn't want to try to find a better price. While I think saying that when you lose your hair you lose everything is a little over the top, I understand how much it means to her. She has probably been raised to think that being pretty is all she has got going for her, and to lose something that is so connected to being traditionally pretty must be hard. Heck, it would be hard for me, and I know I wasn't raised to be pretty. Oh, I think he totally would. An All Star season would happen in what, another year? So he would be back home for a whole year, an entire year with his daughter and his wife. And by that time he realizes that $250k (which would be the amount after taxes) doesn't go that far. And almost as importantly, he gets the chance to actually be a BB legend, and quiet all the "haters" that said he only won because he played against lame people. And I'm sure he could justify it by saying that he is only doing it for his daughter again, but in reality, I think Derrick would jump at the chance to be known as one of the greats of the game, and to have the same respect that someone like Dan has.
