well, now I have an end of the season death to root for! Here's looking at you Sidney Snow! So glad Naomi and the child (William?) are safely packed off at the Mormon camp, she even had time to give one last disapproving, disgusted look to Cullen. She really knows how to make a man want to finish his railroad business so he can rush back to her! What man doesn't want a lifetime of looking at that pinched and angry mug every morning? The minute you start messing with Psalms is the minute you cross the line with me. Although, I side with the camp that wonders how the governor ever thought giving Sidney Snow a badge and a gun wasn't going to end poorly. Its a huge, crappy gamble. Re: the Swede. I find it awfully suspicious that he and Brigham Young have the same general look. I'm wondering it he is gonna try to go all Bishop Dutson on Brigham Young at some point. I just feel like something is going to happen there, and they do have the same general look, older white guys, full beards, white hair, on the taller side. I can't see where else they might be going with this, but you can't sleep on the Swede!

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Or use the Intuition razor, apparently it makes you so happy you'll want to be-ribbon things. Mommy's little helper indeed! -
Oh, I hadn't thought of that. Its true, although I now have Netflix for a variety of reasons. First, there is the fact that I love the selection of Watch Instant options. Second, I love, love, love House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black. Not only do I love the shows, but I sort of want to encourage and reward Netflix for bringing such interesting programming, and the binge watch formula. I mean, the weekend House of Cards comes out, I plan to be sitting alone in a dark room, in sweatpants ordering pizzas. Third, if I'm ever really in the mood to, I can always re-add DVD's to my plan and I don't think thats a thing with Hulu. But I totally understand why Netflix would worry about Amazon, Hulu and HBO coming after them. I wonder if its an exclusive deal for the streaming rights

I think there is a gulf between "not super warm and cuddly" and the attitude Michelle displayed. Its the personality type for whom "keeping it real" is paramount and no one else's feelings matter but her own. I'm not surprised the judges didn't like her, I'm surprised anyone in life likes her. When you place a premium on being real, and being yourself all the time, then you accept the risk that your realness is going to bother other people. Its why a person may hate their boss, but they still smile in their face and behave nicely. Being real may be fun and feel good because you never have to hide anything but it is, at some point going to hurt others, and make people not like you, so she and her whines about others being treated better can suck it. PR is a fashion competition, but its full of personalities, and to some degree that has to factor in. I think if it was just meant to be a design competition we would only see their models walking the runway. So I'm not a fan of her clothing, and I find her insufferable so I don't think she deserved the win at all.

Oh...no doubt. I binge watch shows all the time...currently Criminal Minds, and its how I got introduced to Revenge. I just thought $2 million per episode seemed a little high once it had aired because I would think it would have thought most people would have watched it when it first aired, or would have watched on NBC.com. I would understand paying a premium for a cable show like MadMen, because some people don't have cable, but everyone should have network TV. But I understand the binge watching model, it just seemed like a lot of money per show. But of course, Netflix often knows something I don't, which is why they are so successful!

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Well, I made it 35 seconds in. No thank you, my skin could be as dry as the Sahara, I can't buy this product because then they will think they did a good job with this ad campaign, and in the words of Hall and Oates....I can't go for that. -
Thanks for the information, $2 million per episode for a show that has aired on network TV does seem like a lot

My freaking goodness. I don't often give Nike credit because I think that they are way pretentious, and overpriced with no reason to be, but those shoes are freaking cool. i would totally wear those, what an awesome adult version of light up shoes. ITA about Sandaya too.

What kind of asshole called out an old man with light up sneakers? That so mean!!!!
-
yes please!

Here is why I thought Sandaya was rude. They are giving a 30 minute time limit, which given the set up at mood must be tough. Even if she only interrupted for a few seconds, that is still a few seconds of time that the associate has to shift her attention from the task at hand to whatever Sandaya is saying. Even actively ignoring someone takes effort. I remember when I worked for an insurance company, and they said that the best thing to do was to complete one task and then go to another, because there was always a certain amount of time required to shift your attention from x thing, to y thing, and then back from y thing, to x thing. So in that small amount of time, Sandaya cut in front and took up the associates attention. Right in, what appeared to be the middle of her just cutting the fabric for Korina. If, in her attempts to listen to Sandaya she made a mistake in cutting the fabric, it would have cut even further into Korina's time. And if, the associate was in the middle of cutting Korina's fabric, just wait a few seconds until she is done cutting and then give her the order. I mean, since a few seconds is nothing, why can't Sandaya wait a few seconds? Why should the person who has already waited in line and now has the attention of the associate have to wait for you to spit out an order? Even if its a few seconds, then Sandaya should wait those few seconds since it wasn't her turn. I personally don't think its a tin ear issue, because she is awful quick to take offense to things. When I've encountered people with a tin ear, they generally don't think they are causing offense by their social miscues and culture, but their culture also makes them tone deaf to the same type of thing that they say, but don't mean to cause offense by. I don't think anyone has directly said anything mean to her, which means she is picking up on the subtle rudeness of tone, but amazingly, she can't seem to recognize the own subtle rudeness of her own tone. It sounds a little unbelievable to me.

we will have to agree to disagree, because I think plenty of kids in that age range that would love Kini's outfit, I would have loved Kini's outfit at that age, and I would still love Kini's outfit today. And I think if there had been a problem with being age inappropriate the American Girl executive would have certainly pointed it out. She had no problem being vocal about other outfits she didn't like. But I guess that's why fashion is most often subjective and not objective. I think children in the 9-12 age range are reading both Twilight and the Hunger Games series, which both present very adult situations. So I don't think that's as cut and dry an issue either. And from what I've read the "how to be a child" book/review was mostly aimed at adults, not children, so I'm not sure it offers much insight into how a 9-12 year old wants to dress, even if it implores the reader to not be a grown up. I don't necessarily remember wanting to dress exactly like my mom per se but I did play dress up in her closet with some of her dresses and other pieces that I loved. I don't think the frame of reference however, should be ones mother because I don't think that dress was a typical "mom" dress, since most mothers I know of children in that age range dress day to day for comfort. I don't think kids want to wear Not Your Daughters jeans and a soccer mom cardigan, but I do think that if there is a more glamorous, grown up image they often want to adopt that. Way, way, way back in the day....when such things were still cool, my dad bought my mom a full mink coat, and my goodness, when I was a kid I used to love that thing, and I would put it on every chance I would get, same with my moms prettier dresses, and always her collection of real/costume jewelry. If someone had told me that I could get some of those dresses in my size, I would have been very pleased, but those dresses were not my mom's everyday clothing. My older sister was an "adult" and I always wanted to wear her stuff, especially when western wear/fringe was the thing. Ditto with one of my aunts who was very stylish for the time. I remember when I was like 9 and trying to go out one time, and I put on a really, really long tee shirt pulled over one shoulder, and a belt. Why? Because I wanted to dress like Madonna. My parents were super confused and just thought I had forgotten my pants. So, based on my experience, both as a child in that age range, and seeing children in that age range, I do think that they often want to dress like adults. But it sounds like your experience has been very different. I thought that Kini's dress was perfect for a girl in that age range going to a tea, or to a Christmas party. I think it could have worked for a 10-11 year old which is mid range, so I think he succeeded in the challenge.

co-sign on needing a new host. I'm so done with Tanisha, all she does is play favorites, refuse to ask anyone any real questions, and make fat girl jokes. We get it Tanisha, you want a pizza and you brought twinkies for everyone.

This is how I felt about Scandal, I just couldn't with Kerry Washington. Luckily, Liz isn't the main character, and I would imagine after the success of Season 1, Spader probably asked for his role to be expanded. I don't mind Liz's acting, she is just such an insufferable, whiny nag. If they just devote some time to making her a little less of a bitch I would be happy. And take away her Mercedes, how much does an FBI agent make? She has a house, a husband that was teaching 4th grade, and somehow drives a luxury vehicle.

I feel like that ode to mary poppins was just on the line. I agreed with the judges, not because I thought his was better, but I thought Angela's was worse. I felt as though, if Sean's idea, perfectly executed had walked down the runway, it would have been at least okay (without that hat). But if Angela's had been perfectly executed it still would have failed, IMO, because of the color, the length. Both of them made terrible fabric choices (non withstanding the color)

I think he might have enjoyed creating a dress around the story aspect of the dolls. I mean, yes, its still designing for a corporate sponsor, but at least that sponsor has something to do with fashion, and trying to empower young women. I think someone like Fade would have embraced that. I actually think I would have enjoyed seeing what he would do with one of the girls that came from a poorer background.

.....you forget the magic ingredient of Michelle's personality, I feel as though that went a long way in a shot at Lord&Taylor to Etsy store. I was watching a clip of the reunion, and Michelle seriously has to be one of the most insufferable people. There she was, congratulating herself for "always being real, and never being fake" which of course she used to explain her shitty behavior. She was just keeping it real, which of course, to her is of paramount importance, even if it means being hurtful to anyone around you. Because Michelle is a self centered bitch, her being real is far more important than anything else, or anyone else and when you're trying to build or maintain a business, almost no one is going to want to work with someone who is going to keep it real 100% of the time. Its probably why people with less talent have had far more successful careers than hers and why she will continue to lack the success she feels she deserves. Of course, if anyone else had something bad to say about Michelle, it was almost inexcusable, even though they may have just been keeping it real. I almost always roll my eyes at people who want to give themselves credit for "always being real" and "not ever being fake" because I find that sort of attitude to be so self centered and selfish. yes, its great to be yourself and to be real, but always? no, I can't get down with that. I can decide if I want her or Helen to be booted first. Just my luck it will be someone I really like like Dimitry, or Chris March I think kids today almost never want to look like kids. Or maybe its in how I interpret what a kid looks like. A lot of the things I see kids in today seems like a miniature version of adult clothing. I think I would have wanted Kini's dress when I was 12, I would have wanted Kini's dress at 25, and I want Kini's dress right now, and I also want the coat. I remember watching a documentary either about the great depression, or the dust bowl. Either way, the people featured were very poor. One of the women talked about how her mother made dresses from the sacks the rice/flour/feed came in. The people who manufactured/sold the goods realized that people were making clothes out of their sacks, and so they started to put little designs on them, like little flowers, so that when the mother used them to make the dresses would be prettier. I think if someone had a depression era doll it would have been neat to make a fantastic little dress in something that paid homage to that idea....maybe a rougher looking fabric with a flower pattern on it.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I love the side effects portion of drug commercials. I most loved the ones for Latisse, that treatment that gave you longer lashes. I think one of the potential side effects was temporary blindness, and the permanent discoloration of your eye. I'm no Alanis Morrisette, but I feel like it might be ironic to use a product out of sheer vanity and then not even be able to see the resulting beautiful long lashes. LMAO @ showing people blowing, they all just sound like show offs :) -
Is the decision to send Naomi and the child to the Mormon camp? I do so hope thats what it is!!!!

Her annoying mix of whining and self congratulation makes my blood pressure rise. But when she finally gets axed it feels so good, but I don't want to make myself sick, so I'm hoping she gets far enough to really show us how much she is into herself, and then she gets the boot. IIRC, I think I may have yelled "Yar trick!" at my computer when she got aufed. Someone posted some of Dom's work, but I don't know if it was for Belks. And if this is the PR I know and love it was probably the winner probably got "the opportunity to design for Belks" I hated Fashion Star (well, I loved it for the snark value), but the one thing that was pretty neat about it was that literally the day after someone won you could see their dress/outfit/look in the store. Of course, the designs were woefully substandard most of the time, and they used different materials in the store, and most things IMO was way overpriced, but it was still pretty neat.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

What I love is the implied idea that your asthma has ever gone away. When a chronic illness is under control, you still have it. -
I would generally agree, but I think a tin ear is a tin ear, and IMO, it should be one of those things where you don't hear your own subtle rudeness, and you shouldn't hear anyone elses either. But Sandaya's crying and complaining about people treating her poorly doesn't seem based on any one thing that a person has said to her, but just how she feels. If she has an ear sensitive to hearing all the unsaid things that makes her think people don't like her, then her ear is sensitive enough to know when she is behaving like a jackass.

I must say, this was one of the few runways this season where I liked most of the stuff. Although.... 1. American Girl Dolls have creepy eyes, one of them was staring right at the camera behind a designer when they were talking, and it was just weird 2. Sandaya - insert eye roll. I get being confident in your work, but when you ignore what everyone is saying you start to look like an asshole. I'm not sure if she has ever been in the bottom before, but I get the impression that her claws came out and the judges were surprised with her attitude. And how she doesn't think cutting in front of people in a time sensitive situation is not rude is confusing to me. I bet you 10 billion dollars that if anyone had done that to her at Mood she would have had something to say. She never even asked Korina. 3. Tim - I liked Tim this episode. I know he just saved Char because he likes her, but their relationship is kinda cool. And he finally got real with Sandaya instead of trying for some attempt to save his reputation after UTG. 4. Models - no little girl is ugly, but I think Amanda's and Char's little models were just absolutely gorgeous. As for Emily's model, part of me thinks that she put on a bit with all the obvious scratching and sticking her tongue out. I can't imagine that Emily made something that uncomfortable, even if it was ugly. Having said that, why did Emily put that piece of fabric over the little girls face?? 5. Kini - goodness, I loved, loved, loved, loved both of his pieces. I don't know that I like the jacket over that dress per se, just because the dress has so much volume, but I loved both pieces. He deserved that win 6. Elizabeth Moss - I thought she was a great guest judge. I agreed with everything she said, and she didn't make it a point to be OTT mean. Oh, I take that back, I prefer Emily's to Sandaya's for a little girl, but other than that, I agree with everything Elizabeth Moss said. 7. Emily's - I agree with the lady from American Girl, I think it could have been a great look if it was: a) a little brighter, b) the skirt was a different color, c) the sweater and the skirt worked better to create a more defined waist and d) if she had totally gotten rid of the face cloth. Its a shame, because I really think it could have been very cute. 8. Korina - I think this is the first time I've really liked something Korina sent down the runway. I mean I really liked it, so good on her.
-
I don't think Fade would do something like that, I actually really would have enjoyed seeing his take on this challenge, but since I liked most of the work this challenge it doesn't bite as hard not to have him.
