  1. LMAO! You just wait, a few more years and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw handlebar putting Wet n' Wild on the models. That would be so hilarious :) But seriously, people seem to really like Mary Kay, but I don't know how Mary Kay thinks that this is helping them. It also doesn't help that half of the models are really only missing an adam's apple. I wonder if someone at Mary Kay is watching the show and really thinks the makeup is looking good or if they realize this sponsorship was probably a fail.
  2. Heidi always says "one week you're in, the next you're out." I know they have sometimes referenced who they would more want to see a collection from, or who they would be more interested in seeing more work from, but thats not necessarily judging their entire body of work. They have often said that a person can be on top one week and out the next, and I believe its happened. Fade hadn't won a single challenge and I think he is a better designer than both of them. Char has also been in the top, so its not like she has only produced mediocre work. Her movie ticket dress was also pretty cool. I would certainly agree that she isn't the best designer, but Korina isn't so much better, and she certainly isn't as good as she thinks she is. She lacks the ability to listen, and thats a skill that I don't think you can teach, look at the Heidi challenge where she came in at the bottom. Heidi told her she hated the color....Korina responded...but buying the exact same color. If you want to look at her overall work, that is certainly something to consider, Korina doesn't want to listen to clients, Korina thinks she knows better than everyone else. If you're looking for someone that will take your feedback and improve, is it really going to be the person who has shown she doesn't want to listen?
  3. I know I'm in the minority here, but I loved Sandro, and I don't think him as bad as everyone else did. I think he was frustrated with Helen, who was, of course acting like a class A bitch and telling Sandro that he shouldn't have asked for feedback on the runway. And then of course Ken had an opinion, and they were ganging up on him and he got frustrated. But I liked his brand of crazy, and I thought for the most part he was genuinely a nice person. I also thought he was smart to ask for feedback on the runway, Ken was just being a bitch because he never thought to ask, and Helen was just wanting to put a spotlight on herself to be pitied.
  4. I understand that Sean was a benefit to Char, but both designers were given a helper. I think Emily is just as proficient as Sean. So Team Char by all accounts had two people who could design, and only one that could construct/sew. Team Korina has two people that could both design, sew and construct. So Korina still had a big leg up on Char. I mean, I would totally agree if Char had gotten Kini, I think he is on another level, but I think Emily and Sean are evenly matched.
  5. What? Some guy may not have wanted to be married to someone with perpetual bitchface and never wanted to be touched? I find that hard to believe. And.....of course for all his trouble, she whined and moaned about having a second chance. Ugh, she is the worst.* I just roll my eyes at the idea that any one designer is supposed to stifle public reaction to another designer. If someone wants to say something, let them say it, and why do you keep assuming that people are going to stop just because you are friends with someone? Why am I supposed to be personally invested in you enough to make sure I don't hurt your friends feelings? The show makes personalities a point, so people are going to respond to someones personality, and thats going to be a personal attack. * ETA - she is the co-worst, with Helen.
  6. I believe at some point in history he ends up in jail.
  7. I don't know, taking all things into account they were both pretty bad. Korina's had a lot of styling issues, the makeup was wrong, it was a very very dated look, and then she had the hat. Then there was the cape, which initially wasn't bad, but the neck with the buttons (I think it was part of the cape) looked messy, and then you have this grey fabric cape, which looks dreary, then another red pattern on the skirt, and then some boots. The skirt wasn't bad, the green color for the top, or something about the green top with that red skirt just looked like Christmas circa 1984. Char's was bad, but there was better styling. The dress was simple and hoochie, but the little jacket was a good idea. The piece was overall more cohesive with the other pieces in her collection. I also think she used an unconventional material, in that the screen wasn't really fabric like, whereas a table runner is. Like it or not, the judges always appreciate the unconventional materials transformation. Look at how wild they were over Sean's use of the lamp shade in the coat, and Kini's soccer ball dress. And Char's was at least somewhat current. I agreed with Nina, I thought Emily/Korina had very dated looks. And even if it was producer manipulation, and a producer decision. It is what it is, the best thing to do is recognize you're being given another chance and attack it. The worst thing you could do is exactly what Korina did, freak out, whine, and then produce the worst looking dress because you believe you're so above it all. People have to deal with unfair things in life all the time, I didn't think this was that unfair, or even unfair at all. The funny thing is, Korina should have embraced it, because the person who had the disadvantage going into the one hour sew off was Char. Char can barely cobble together a look with an entire day. Char should have been the one with the bad, defeatist attitude. But if Korina wants to go on about how much of a better designer she is, she should have designed a better dress easily. She should have been able to put her money where her mouth was, but she couldn't. Given what should have been an easy opportunity to knock out a person she has said over and over is so much weaker a designer, she instead fucked it up. And thats on her, so Korina can suck it.
  8. I remember the red jacket/vest thing (which I liked), then there was the unconventional materials challenge with her Thunderbird where she had immunity. I don't remember a fringed dress, so that might be a third. And then last night would have been the fourth. Korina kept whining that she had only done a southwestern theme once before. She has at least done it twice. Maybe three times. And then there have been various iterations of the motorcycle jacket. Was there ever a discussion of what exactly the TG save was meant to be? I feel like when he used it on Justin, nothing Justin had sent down the runway was super successful, and the glue gun thing was just the hottest of hot messes he had sent down. I mean, I know what I want the Tim Gunn save to be, but if the judges want to save someone they seem to know exactly how to do it. Fashion is subjective, its not like a scantron test, there is a lot of discretion. I thought it was just for when TG disagreed with the judges decision to send someone home. I think if there were terms and conditions assigned to the TG save it would be a different story. And in a perfect world IMO, he would have saved it for Fade, for the avant garde challenge where Fade had a difficult time. And when he used it on Justin, at that point, he saw something that no one else saw in Justin, and I think he turned out to be right. I thought Justin's collection was beautiful, and so i was happy that TG saved him. But if the TG save is something that is used solely at Tim's discretion, it seems as though he can use it for any reason he really wants to. A line of cocaine?
  9. I think thats a fair POV. But might I add "Glamma" is one of the most ridiculous terms ever.
  10. Yes! I would go to work just to give him hugs all day. Oh and by the way, I wish they would stop trying to make "unsub" happen, shit sounds ridiculous
  11. when did clumpy mascara become popular? My thought is, if I have two delicious burgers in my purse, why do I want to share them with some jerk on a plane? What if I get hungry later....I will want the second delicious burger! But I almost punched someone on a plane who was looking at my box of Mike's pastries with googlie eyes on a flight from Boston to LA, so I don't like to share.
  12. You really can't be entirely prepared for the TG save, you also can't know what challenges you're going to get besides unconventional materials, avant garde and couture gown, you can't know what challenges they are going to ask you for a third look. So there are a lot of things on PR that you can't prepare for. Things like asking for a third look is something that also has precedent, but would be hard to prepare for because you don't know when its coming. I was certain certain that they were going to demand an additional look in the American Girl challenge...something for the doll, but they didn't. They, for some reason, did it on this challenge. So, the dress in an hour thing seems like a fair way to break a true tie. It may not be the best way, but I think its fair, especially since its been done before so they are on notice that it could happen Ugh, that is the truth. I know some people like Mary Kay, so I'm just gonna say that I don't think the colors translate well on TV. Maybe they look rich and amazing in real life, and the colors seem pigmented, but they come off so garish on TV. Although credit to handlebar for really trying to sell it.
  13. I just find the whole thing sad. Its like they realized he wasn't going to win the competition because he isn't that talented, so they just aimed for "Ms. Congeniality"
  14. and generally only when you get to the top of the giant rock you were climbing.
  15. But they all know the TG save is there. As for Justin, Tim clearly saw something that I didn't see. Justin showcased his talent after the TG save, and his collection was beautiful. So, at least the first TG save, I think was a success, because I think Justin proved to be a talented designer in his own right. I think he got to fashion week on his own steam, and I don't think he was given much of any help after the save. The only thing I think it really changed for him was that he felt a little more beholden to TG and so he really would listen to TG's advice. And since this is the second time its been used, we don't really know what the TG save means. I thought Justin showed his talent and I became happy that TG used the save on him. I normally understand blaming editing, but when they are sitting, right there in the room and she is making those comments in front of Char, in front of everyone, the comments seem directed at Char. Especially when you see the whole "I'm talking to everyone else" routine to try to talk about one person. The whole "can anyone even believe I'm in this position" comment was said right in front of Char, but "to the group." And then she said things directly to Char. Char asked her something like "well, are you mad at me?" to which Korina angrily replied "you shouldn't even be here." And after that Char basically told her to go kick rocks. And when you're directing a comment at someone and basically telling them that they don't deserve to be there, it does seem to be a lot about that person, so IMO, her comments were about Char. I do fault Korina, people are under much more stressful circumstances and manage to hold it together. There really was no excuse for that sort of behavior. I wouldn't want to work with someone who responds to stress by lashing out at everyone. This is all true. Korina has gotten more time on the show than she should have because of the producers and their tricks. She should have been out on that green dress.
  16. Heidi says it all the time "one day you're in, the next, you're out" While I may not always understand the judges (I thought Emily's top was awful, and thats just real talk), it is their opinion that matters. They didn't like Korina's and they didn't like Char's. I guess they disliked them pretty much equally. If each challenge is its own, and the decision to stay in or out are based on that challenge alone, and they didn't like Korina's or Char's then it seems fair to me. I could understand the decision, Korina's outfit was ugly, Char's outfit was ugly. While Char hasn't won a challenge, she has been in the top three. I don't think Fade won a challenge, but I still think he is a hugely talented designer. So, I'm not sure that winning a challenge proves that someone is the better designer.
  17. I think he may be the only one to come out of this show happier and in a good place
  18. Commence massive eye roll in 3......2..... The one thing I didn't like about Christian was that every other word out of his mouth was about what "young girls want to wear." I still abhor the idea that after 30 you turn into some fashion pumpkin. Just because I can't shop at Forever 21 anymore, doesn't mean I don't want to look fashionable I don't think so, I only remember her saying that you could have a helper, your old partner. Someone else said, and I agree, if you could choose a helper, both women would have spent about 15 minutes fighting over Kini. He then would have completed both of their looks in the remaining 45 minutes. Thats sort of what I thought about Sean's too. I think he admitted the dress wasn't exactly what he wanted, but they didn't really have much time with the third look, and it was pretty much on him to come up with it on his own. Char needed every second to complete her look. He said he could have taken out a panel to make it more comfortable, but he hoped that the judges could see the design elements and creativity behind the look and appreciate that. As far as the model, it seemed like she could have walked a little better in it, but she didn't want to make noise. I remember Heidi saying something like "I would have just let it make the noise and walked in it" or something to that effect. I think the normal runways are taped once with only the judges, and the second time with only the contestants. I think this "one hour challenge" runway had the judges and the contestants together. So normally Heidi shouldn't be able to see reactions, but with the one hour challenge runway she could. When Char said that "there has to be something good in those drawers" I was like "OMG! She is right, I hadn't even thought about that!" Char may not be the strongest designer, but in that moment it seems like she really thought on her feet, because I think I would have just been like "eww, a blanket an some office drawers, boo!" Korina had more to choose from, but she was so angry at Nina for saying something about her southwestern motif that she immediately went to whatever black and white she could find. If she had thought about it a little, she might have been able to come up with something that could make use of the actual material.
  19. I don't know if that would have anything to do with the organization or if it is more common sense that drives the decision. I would think it would be common sense more than anything. Depending on when a school starts classes, the earliest you would have a set of grades would probably be November. I don't think anyone would want to hire you with absolutely no grades to your name, not even for an externship/internship. Most placements also want a writing sample, which would be hard to develop until November (which is when a first year legal writing class would give you at least a bare bones writing sample). Additionally, if you're looking for a summer placement, the firms/companies/government agencies/judges that would want to hire students won't even know their own need or want to deal with applications until later in the year, closer to when grades come out. So, if those applications are due in December/January then November would be the earliest time to start working on them. Not to mention, as you said before, its a lot for a 1L to try to focus on in their first year. I have had other professors who are practitioners and its never really been a problem. Professors cancel classes for other commitments (speaking arrangements, etc) so I don't necessarily think the school has a huge problem with cancelling class every once in a while. They can sometimes have another professor come in and teach the material for the day (most classes have more than one criminal law section) or if they will only be missing a class they can start up from where they left off and resolve teach straight through to catch up on the material. But I don't think it could be something a school would be okay with a professor doing a lot (I think a week of classes, which would equal 2 classes would be the upper limit for a semester), but most of my professors who were in practice were partners, so they had a little more flexibility. They should also know if they are going to be in trial or if there is a chance to be in trial at least a few months before the start of the semester and either plan accordingly or let the school have someone else teach the class. From what I remember from working in the courthouse was that trial scheduling (if a case even got that far) happened a long time in advance of the trial.
  20. I appreciated her comments about Korina's bitchery. And she was right, I think Korina's preoccupation with being a bitch took her focus away from making a good dress for the one hour challenge. First, she assumed that she was such a superior designer that anything she sewed and put down the runway would trump Char's. Second, she chose some complex design (16 piece pattern) in response to her anger at nina calling her out for using the southwestern motif. She also chose black and white in a strange fabric for that same reason. Fourth, if she was trying to do a complex pattern in an hour, all of her attention needed to be focused on what she was doing, not on how unfair it was and how she was so much better than Char. All her negative energy ended up bringing her down. The only reason Char stayed was because of the Tim Gunn save. Char didn't make that decision, Tim Gunn did. If Korina had a problem with that decision, the person to take it up with and be mad at is Tim Gunn, not Char. Or be mad at the producers for allowing a Tim Gunn save. But don't take it out on the one person who had the least say in saving Char.....which is Char. I wouldn't want to help Korina either, Emily was already safe, why should she want to help some entitled bitch who is whining? And Emily still helped her. I really liked Char's attitude, especially in light of the fact that she has a hard time making something even when they have a day or two. So, she had to have already felt pretty defeated knowing that she was supposed to design something in an hour, but she still kept her head up, kept a positive attitude and tried her best. It would have been just as easy for her to dissolve into self pity seeing as how Korina made those comments on the runway. I stopped watching BB at some point, so for me, it would have to go to Korina. Apparently she should be going to fashion week, because she really wants to, and apparently what she really wants trumps the fact that everyone else also really wants to go to fashion week. Commence eye roll. Ugh, I hate that too. The "girl" is always going someplace super exotic, doing something like 4 people in the world do. The girl in the "real world" is probably going to go to a desk job for 8 hours, come home, watch project runway while eating a little ben and jerrys, maybe read a bit, check facebook and then go to bed. Where is her 3 outfit look? Yes, and how dare we "mindless sheep" believe that any of the mean things she said straight to Char's face are evidence of the fact that she is a bitch or a brat. Don't we realize that even when she says something mean to someone's face that we should figure out that its not real. OKAY, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought Emily's look stank. I totally thought it looked Sponge Bob Squarepants. I'm all about a strong shoulder (not on me, I have broad shoulders) but that shit looked like a couch. I totally agreed with Tim. LMAO....but seriously, if I were Korina I would simply want the chance to redeem myself. I mean, I know I've behaved like a brat sometimes in life and if I was handed a do-over....even like 5 minutes later, I would have taken it. To me, this is Korina's chance at a "do-over" for the shitty behavior she displayed this episode. I think the eye rolling from Korina came when their "one hour challenge" dresses walked the runway. I don't think that runway was a blind runway.
  21. Good for you Korina....toxic and bitter till the very end. Good for Char for sticking up for herself, I may not agree with the TG save, but TG brought her back and those are the rules so Korina and her joker face can go suck it.
  22. I don't believe the National Association for Legal Placement is a governing body for law schools or gives any accreditation that would make a really big difference, so I'm not really sure they would have much say in what law schools do or don't do. And a recommendation isn't really the same as a rule. However, it would make sense for most schools to hold off on career services until you at least have one set of grades because most placements would want to know that they are getting someone that they feel has a certain level of academic acumen, which would at least evidence the ability to learn, and give the placement an idea that you know something. IIRC a lot of students after the first year would do an internship/externship for the summer, which would require placement within the first year.
  23. Yeah, but the hand might get a little bigger if they think there is 50 million vs. 5 million
  24. Of course, because who doesn't want to spend over $100,000 on law school so they can make as much as the senior line cook at McDonalds? I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding.
  25. Full time law students can't work more than 20 hours a week. I'm not sure there is an ABA prohibition against seeking career counseling, or looking for a summer job, but I would imagine most law schools would find it a waste of time. At least until your first set of grades are out. While she is only seeking legal theories, I think if she later got sued for malpractice, and it came out that she got part of her strategy from law students in their second week of school, she could be in trouble. The part where she is seeking legal theories might be covered as a simple learning exercise, but if she is, in effect having them do her casework (thinking through strategy) it might be termed work nonetheless. It's like when you have a practicum in law school, which is generally where you work on a legal project as a law student. You are doing legal work, but under a supervising attorney, and that attorney is responsible for your work.
