I definitely won't be there for either of the games mentioned, but I will be up at the end of August. If the Mets are home and I don't have theatre tickets (or I'm not going to see tennis), I'm up for a game. I'm always up for a game! Leaving Friday for St Pete!! We have tickets to the game in Clearwater on Saturday, Sarasota on Sunday, and Dunedin on Monday. Going to Bern's for our anniversary Monday evening. The only possible change would be if the Terps somehow win a game on Thursday in Orlando, we may see if we can get tickets to see them on Saturday. I'd eat the Phillies tickets if need be for that.
  3. And he is fantastic! I didn't realize the role could even be funnier than it was the first time I saw it with Rory, but Taran is great!
  4. I'm pretty sure she was on today after Fareed. But I don't know for how long. There was baseball to watch.

As much as I shouldn't, I still like the song. I'd rather just forget the context. RIP Joni

I was beginning to think they'd forgotten about the Terps. But they're in. I can go back to not paying attention for a few days.
  7. My favorite thing in this show was "Complicit". I think sobriety is good for Pete. I actually laughed during his WU bit. WU on the whole was quite good. Overall, I enjoyed the show. Wasn't crazy about the open, but the rest was fun. Where is @Galileo908? How am I supposed to really know what to think about stuff? Or mostly, just remember what happened? :-)
  8. And speaking of Paul... https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/08/arts/music/paul-shaffer-david-letterman-bill-murray-album.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Ftelevision&action=click&contentCollection=television&region=rank&module=package&version=highlights&contentPlacement=2&pgtype=sectionfront A lovely article in the NYT. He's releasing an album next week, and going on tour. Good news. Hope he swings through my town.
  9. My parents didn't smoke. My dad was vehemently opposed to it, probably because my grandfather died of some lung disease (I was only 4 or 5 when he died, so I don't know which one). I've never smoked a legal cigarette in my life. My parents didn't drink either. I guess not everything your parents try to teach you sticks. Ah well...
  10. OMG, I loved Reeve's!! I used to eat breakfast there every payday. And while I don't like donuts, I loved the blueberry donuts at Reeve's. I wasn't quite the same place after they moved to G Street, but I was still sad when they closed.
  11. Sam in on Fresh Air today. http://www.npr.org/2017/03/06/518771517/samantha-bee-on-trump-s-win-i-could-feel-this-seismic-shift
  12. I also laughed for the same reason. And also because I get the feeling the Che just figures at this point...gotta keep the streak going. I'd guess there will be a joke during each WU this month like this.
  13. I was going to say they should have skipped the musical guest then and go with more skits. But thinking about that regarding tonight's show...no.
  14. Kate as Kellyanne kneeling with the phone throughout was the best part of the show.
  15. I just got a chill reading this. I haven't seen this movie since ... I don't remember when, but it was some Saturday afternoon program. For a while, I thought I dreamed it, but finally looked into it a few years ago and saw that it does exist. And now, I'm a little nervous to see it again after so long. It made a profound impact on me as a child. Thanks for the heads up - I'll definitely be recording it. And after all these years lurking in this thread (here and on TWoP), this is the movie that has made me post. And I still have nothing insightful to say, but I had to say something. Thank you all for your thoughtful posts about movies that I love.
  16. I understand your reluctance to shop there, but think of it this way - the longer you hold on to the card, the longer they hold on to the money without having to give you any product for it. So there's that... OMG, that's Morgan Fairchild?? I knew she looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place the face...because it doesn't look like quite the same face. Yikes.
  17. I've been there. A nice view of Times Square was actually a nice view of giant electronic billboards (we were sitting in the middle of the main floor and that's all we could see). And really, is there a nice view of Times Square? ;-) As for dress, there are folks of all stripes there, so don't dress for the venue, dress for the date. Of course, be careful...but have a nice time!!
  18. Has anyone tuned in? I've listened to some of the two shows so far. Craig and other folks sitting around chatting. Sometimes telling gross jokes, but mostly fun and funny conversation. I'll stick around.
  19. I knew they were siblings because the Warren actually worked the stage door at the theatre I worked the stage door at. So I had the same job as Warren Beatty did. Once. A long time ago.
  20. This. I had to catch up on the posts here to figure out who she was. Wow.
  21. Wait - getting to work at 10 is late?
  22. I would not object of someone parachuted cookies and donuts down to me.
  23. Sigh... I really, really wanted Lin...
