  1. They'd have to have a dedicated line, or better yet a dedicated nut-free facility.
  2. Happy belated birthday, cutie!
  3. @oliviabenson Feeling tired and sleeping a lot can be a sign of stress and depression. I'm on a medication that has a side effect of drowsiness, and I frequently need naps as well as a night's sleep. As Bastet said, sleep apnea is serious and health threatening. I think you need a sleep study (you sleep while being monitored) to be diagnosed.
  4. When Buck was holding the baby and looking at it for a long time, I thought "damn, Buck imprinted." 😆
  5. Oh yes, it is much worse, although my issues are mostly with my sinuses and itchy, dry eyes. I always enjoy a good sneeze session that has me cussing when it goes on and on. I wake up needing to almost peel my eyelids apart. My asthma tends to be situational or food allergy related. Then I get a nice wheezy whistle happening, but not severe.
  6. I've had cauliflower crust pizza that was very good as I like a crunchy crust. I love steamed cauliflower and broccoli with nothing on them. We get really good cruciferous vegetables here in SoCal. I've driven by fields of brussels sprouts stalks and they are so good in season, just toss in the oven with some oil and seasoning. I'm one of the weirdos who loves kale. I have a whole bag of it in the fridge (if I'm less lazy I'll clean it and trim it myself). If you've never had stammpot (Dutch) it is cooked kale stirred into buttery mashed potatoes (our version). It is so good. If you eat meat you can cook sausage with it too. I eat quite a bit of brown rice. I do like Basmati and sometimes Jasmine.
  7. Mine always loved being wrapped like a purrito afterwards.
  8. Then you have to sort through it to make sure some regular mail didn't get lost in the ads.
  9. She'd probably smear Lume on your nethers.
  10. Also as we get older, we can have higher health expenses ourselves. What if we have an extended stay at the hospital? If you don't have family to take care of pets, then that's expensive, and if you're like me you'll worry they are not getting all of the pet's meds done correctly at the right time, etc.
  11. News is horrible. There is always another shooting or someone getting stabbed on the Metro. I try to avoid it but it's difficult when you want to read/view about news in general. I'm not really coping well. I've never had to rely on anti-anxiety meds before the past few years. Things are going backwards as far as human rights go and that terrifies me too. I like to re-watch movies or shows that make me happy or are comforting. I like a happy ending, and will watch more "sappy" shows than I used to. I'll re-read books too because I know I'll enjoy them and there won't be any surprises.
  12. This is a very tough one. There are a lot of people who would be furious to suggest they shouldn't have a pet if they can't afford it. For me the animal has priority once you take on their care, and that included the horses I've had. A lot of us I think will do without if we have to because our animals are our responsibility. I go to the county shelter near me that euthanizes animals and I think, well, if I can give them love and care is that not better than dying at the shelter? I can afford care and food, it is the bills beyond that, and they are always a possibility.
  13. Has the vet checked for a fungus? My vet did a swab and looked for a sign of fungus when my cat had a lot of nasal and sneezing issues. Antibiotics won't affect a fungus of course, but a new course of treatment may help if it's a virus or fungus.
  14. The new place I'm looking at moving to is pet friendly and I'm thinking should I get a cat? I'm reluctant to and definitely not a kitten. I'll be on a fixed income from now on so I'm scared of large vet bills. It got into the thousands with previous cats and I won't be able to do that this time. This is the beauty the kitty in my avatar grew into. She was a sweetie and I miss her.
  15. That is pure evil. For the person you hate.
  16. Calling it BBQ doesn't help with the spelling issue.
  17. My self portrait, a potato on sticks. 😆
  18. That's a good height, considered tall in some areas. A better weight for me was when I went up to 125. Now my doctor says I'm good at around 135 for my age. I'm now north of that.
  19. As a teen I was about 110 but I also was just shy of 5'10". I was a stick. I could also haul around 50 lb hay bales. My recent more sedentary lifestyle has added pounds. I wrote more about that in Health and Wellness.
  20. I'm so frustrated with my knee. As I have mentioned, I fractured my tibia and patella (knee cap) and was mostly bed bound and then wheelchair bound for over 3 weeks with a full hip to ankle leg brace. Well, the bones are healed and I have most of my knee flexibility back, but I still can't trust it even while wearing a knee brace. You lose a lot of strength and flexibility very fast and it can be a long recovery for someone not young anymore. I was out shopping and I normally have a long stride (34 inch inseam) and it feels good to stretch my legs that way, but my knee kept almost giving out. It also frequently feels like it needs to crack (like it almost locks) and then once it does crack it feels better. I still use a walker around the house (I kind of just push it without putting weight on it) just in case because I've come close to falling several times. I do strengthening exercises for the supportive muscles which is mostly the quadriceps. I just want to walk normally again. Sorry for the self pity party.
  21. I was very skinny up until my forties, and I ate very well. I also was very active and people would be surprised how strong I was. It's just how some of us are built. I got lots of comments on how I looked anorexic. Well thanks for your unneeded comment, random person. I've put on weight since menopause, but I don't worry too much about calories and just try to eat more vegetables and whole grains. Yes I eat meat but my meals aren't necessarily based on it. I do like potatoes though, but I tell myself they are a source of potassium, which I tend to be low on.
  22. Be careful how you correct somebody!
  23. You should never "out" someone who hasn't done so themselves either. The only reason I can think of to care about someones orientation is if you are interested in dating. People can be busybodies and want to set up dates for single people and be intrusive in that way. It's none of their business unless you ask if they know anyone available for dating.
