  1. To make everyone's eyes twitch, here is a gooder ad.
  2. Just saw the Feliway Optimum commercial. I've heard of Feliway but I was laughing at the cat who looked stoned. Yeah, he's calm all right. 😼 I had to rewind to look again, and it uses a diffuser. I'm not sure I want to breathe in aerated cat pheromones. Will it make me not want to scratch the sofa or pee on pillows? What a bummer.
  3. I think I am having PMS every day, if those are the symptoms. I blame it all on age.
  4. There are devices like the Shewee that allow you to pee standing up. My knees don't like the squatting any more. "Help, I squatted and I can't stand up!"
  5. Bolding is mine. I think that is the key phrase, that it would be easier for others, and Tammy doesn't care. Remember the episode where they were trying to get her to use the motorized wheelchair, and she had a tantrum? She says something like, is this to make it easier for me, or for YOU? Like how dare they want a break from pushing her around. She's the queen, y'all. Edit to add: Tammy's preferred mode of transportation. You know she would if she could.
  6. I don't have much space either. I like to slice or dice freezable vegetables so I can just grab what I need from the freezer to add to soup/stew. I have an instant pot that I love, and I can put frozen meat in there (it works better for me if it is sliced into smaller pieces first). It is just as well that I can't keep a lot of ice cream in the freezer. 😺 I love my instant pot for making brown rice. Perfectly cooked every time. So I stock up on dry rice and beans.
  7. Way back when I was young and we raised dinosaurs for meat on the farm 😉 we had a huge garden and chickens. A lot of work over the summer tending the garden (potato bugs, ick, tomato worms, bigger ick) and then harvesting and canning. We had a lot of fresh vegetables, fruit, and eggs of course so I got used to eating that way. It helped with the costs of feeding the family. I call myself a hayseed. A person who grew up rural on a farm. I laugh now at parents who can't get their kids to take time away from games to do a simple chore like taking out the garbage. We worked on the farm as kids. No such thing as an allowance, we earned pocket money by working picking fruit at neighboring farms. We also walked uphill both ways through snowbanks to school. Now get off my lawn.
  8. I've taken courses at community colleges after I got my degree. Very affordable and often fewer students per class. It's usually easy to transfer credits if you plan on going to a state college/university but there is this stigma about it which is undeserved.
  9. I have a shower chair, but I doubt it would fit in a tub shower. It is so nice to feel safe in the shower now. I've seen showers with the seats built in, but those are step in showers. Plus I've had my own leg problems, but nothing like yours. I feel bad complaining about wearing a brace and difficulty getting up and down stairs, because I can get about and shower.
  10. Does he include men in that category?
  11. I may feel others are lucky, but I certainly wouldn't tell someone they shouldn't have any peeves or complaints. We all have good and bad in our lives. It seems you don't pay too much attention to these people who criticize you. Enjoy the great things in your life, a lot of which was your doing, right? You chose a great husband, and are raising a wonderful child. You're the only one who has your life and your experiences, and sometimes a good moan about something is needed.
  12. It looks like you do take them with food. If I don't, I get very nauseated. I also take an acid reducer, which I take in the morning, and then wait until after breakfast to take supplements. So sorry about your health issues. I've had my own with IBS and yes we have more difficulty absorbing nutrients from food. I hope your kitty is safe and comes home. :( I'm due a colonoscopy. I have to be careful with the prep because I react very strongly to the drinks, so I do less than they recommend. I hear it is a pill and not drinks now. So sorry about the colon cancer. I have osteoporosis, which I believe is a result of allergies and IBS. I've done my own research and additional D3, calcium, and weight bearing exercise is a good regimen.
  13. Yes, carrying all of that weight could very well damage her spine and tendons, and her bone density could have suffered from her bad diet.
  14. I had for some reason thought Tammy was taller than Amy, maybe because of old family photos we saw. I was shocked to see her standing and how short she actually is. It's good to see that she is doing well after those close calls and now taking the weight loss seriously.
  15. You'd hate my bathroom then. The glass shower is in front of a large room length mirror, so it can remind you to slow down on the chips and dip. That walk-in shower was damn nice after my leg fractures when I could barely bend my knee enough to get over that tiny lip to step in. No way could I have safely stepped into a tub for a shower.
  16. I have a 90s house, and there is no door between the bedroom and bathroom, and then a walk in closet with a door (like you need more privacy there, hee). The toilet is in it's own separate tiny room with a door, so at least that's not out in the open. There is a walk in shower and a large tub. A neighbor installed a door but it never bothered me too much.
  17. I wouldn't wait. Spitting on someone may be considered assault, depending on where you are. What happened was unacceptable. Are you allowed to carry pepper spray? I carry it while out walking because of encounters with creepy men and aggressive dogs.
  18. My favorite therapy was with a small group of women and two therapists (one in training). I do not like having the spotlight on me with one one one therapy, and having a group just felt more comfortable for me. I know that isn't the case with many people. I also wasn't sharing some deep trauma in public, just general concerns. The last couple of therapists I talked to I did not like at all. It can be hard to find someone you trust.
  19. This is the same for me. A 1 mg pill and I'm way too out of it but it works when anxiety is severe, which thankfully is not often. I split the pill for a calming effect. @isalicat The times I've had surgery (I think it's 8 with anesthesia, and 2 more while I was awake) and they gave me the IV calming drug (I assume valium) I definitely felt it. I was in a happy place and had not a care in the world while they were preparing me for surgery. I know there are people who don't react to anesthesia and the anesthetist definitely needs to know that. When they have me count backwards from ten, I'm out before eight.
  20. Darn, I wanted hot doctors.
  21. I thought this belonged here. We need the occasional laugh.
  22. Next month is going to be a big anxiety time for me. I need to find a place to live and I'll be downsizing, so I'm taking as little as I can. I've already been donating books (some of you will know how hard that was 😢) but I have things to sell and decisions to make. I've been in this house for over two decades and moving to a new city is way more anxiety inducing than it was in my younger years. I need new doctors etc and with my mobility issues it will be way more difficult. Flying or driving is a decision too. With driving it will take several days but with more freedom. If I fly I'll have to do one hop starting from LAX (which I always dread, just getting there to start with). I donated my mindfulness book. I need to find ways to calm myself down during the more stressful times.
  23. If you can do it, I would a recommend skilled nursing care facility, at least for the first few days. Someone needs to know what they are doing with your care. Will you be able to get up long enough to use the bathroom? How about cleanliness? Those can eat up those two hours fast. Are you able to walk bent from the waist to keep your head in the correct position? Is it just the position or is it also any excessive movement? Do you have like a foam mattress pad to prevent sores? Are there exercises you can do while face down? I was mostly bedridden for over a week with brief excursions to the commode. Your muscles get weak fast and I'm still having to do exercises as I'm not yet real mobile from my injury. I wish you the best and that the surgery is successful.
  24. That was me as a pre-teen and teenager. I had an hour long bus ride both ways, and after doing whatever homework I had I would read so many books. The weekend is when I could get to the public library and get my limit of books to check out. I didn't have any restrictions on what I could read and it was wonderful.
