I was in a window seat and a couple sat next to me with an approximately 6 month old, and I was "oh no" but that was the sweetest baby ever. And then people on the plane were a bit embarrassing about it with the parents because he didn't cry the entire flight.

You've had such an interesting life.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Yes, we are taught that, and it is an easy check, and if not a garage than any reflective surface in front of or behind you. Also blinkers. -
Oh yes, I'm checking because honestly it might change. I have a mobility device which may be a walker or rollator. I've never had to worry about this while traveling. I will need help to get to the next gate.

Orchard Valley Harvest for their Dipped Almonds. Their logo with the Shrek "Not my gumdrop buttons" voice. "What do they taste like, I'm just a mascot without a mouth. This next one, chew slower." :O

I have very bad facial recognition. I would not notice a celebrity. I can notice voices though, sometimes. Now I'm nervous if I do sit next to someone it will be a show I love and I go into idiot mode and say something stupid, or sit next to a politician and I get strapped to my seat.

I expect that no one will care as long as I'm clean and quiet. Which I am unless someone really wants to talk. I mostly want to take the time to read or play sudoku or wordle.

I'm sorry for taking that and galloping running with it.

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar
nokat replied to candall's topic in Everything Else
I checked my "Woe Is I" book and I've been using "different than" rather than "different from." Okay, either one before a clause. "Respectability is different than/from it was fifty years ago." So different from is always correct. I admit to always trying to remember which is correct. -

Oh yes, I wanted the extra leg room, and internationally I definitely would want it. My first leg is California to Detroit, and that is only about 4 and a half hours, but that is a long time with your legs pressed into the seat in front of you, and I still have knee problems. Enjoy your flight to Heathrow! Oh, a lie-flat seat, what bliss.

I intend to enjoy it. Out of LAX, yes there will be drinks.

Do you remember women using the horse product, Mane 'n Tail? Or was it just the women at the barn using it? That is the usual though, a product you really love and works is discontinued.

So I'm feeling all fancy, sipping wine out of a plastic cup (I do have wine glasses), after I booked a first class one-way flight to the state I will soon be living in. I have only ever flown coach because I'm generally frugal. I'm going to look like one of the Beverly Hillbillies and should probably buy something nice to wear. The gremlins who like to play tricks made all of my nice work clothes shrink. 😆 I'm the idiot who will stand in the wrong line and wait instead of being the first to board. Any advice from those who fly frequently?

Or using a phone where capitalizing sentences is a lost art. I still found it funny. -

I get that feeling of nausea too when an earthquake starts. I've woken up during one and since my bedroom is upstairs I really feel the sway. That on in '89 would have been scary as heck.

Did any of you start cutting your own hair during the lock down, and just continued doing it? I have fussy, curly, fine but very thick hair. If it gets cut like a stylist would cut straight hair, it is an awful mess. My favorite stylist moved away and the guy who cut it after did it in layers and then blew it straight. My hair felt so weird and heavy and did not look so good air dried. I have shoulder length hair with light layers now. I've gotten pretty good at cutting to a length and snipping in some light layers. I shape cut as it dries (curly hairs will know what I mean). Now that I'm mostly grey, they texture has changed too, so it is less wavy and more frizzy. Does anyone have any products to recommend? (I wash my hair only every few days, or it gets too dry).

I love lilacs! I miss them as the California lilacs are not as pretty with that wonderful scent.

Stress, Depression, Anxiety and other Mental Health-related things

@Mountainair Wow, that is a heavy load on your shoulders, and so much stress. I wish the best for your son and that things are brighter in the future. -
What it means is that he is an excellent contestant, which is different than just a good chef. I see nothing wrong with that as it is a competition and he knows how the (to me) sometimes stupid challenges work. As has been mentioned, they are all established chefs, and extra money and exposure is good for business. I think it is difficult for watchers sometimes to not pick favorites via personality and sportsmanship. We after all can't taste the food.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

I'm finding out how expensive it is to move cross country with a small amount of furniture, kitchen items, and clothes. If I pack and fill the container or truck, it is anywhere from $1500 to $6000, and then I have to add in people to get boxes etc into said container or truck, because no way can I do it. Sigh. -

So which option is better for you? Staying home will cause lots of questions too. I would have a quick self-deprecating answer such as "just me being clumsy" or such which was true in my case. I know how you feel about people being inquisitive about your boot, and I think it is people thinking they are being polite (or a conversation starter) to ask. I get asked about my knee brace from random people if I'm out, and sometimes it is just someone commiserating as they've had a similar injury. -
I ate a lot of cream of wheat as a child. I loved it then but stopped eating it for allergy reasons (the plantain enzyme used in it). I can now eat it so should try it again. I love oatmeal but the grey, gelatinous stuff they served in the rehab was less than appetizing. I like the instant oats as I don't mind the texture. I tend to like leftovers or salad for breakfast, and then cereal or oatmeal for dinner.
