  1. Or a foreclosure in which case they were lucky the only thing the former owners did was unplug the fridge and spray paint red squiggles on the cabinets and walls.
  2. I thought Gaynor was only sixteen. Why would a sixteen year old have the power to commit her mother? Same goes for Pat committing her mother - wouldn't she have to be at least 18 to make those decisions for her mother?
  3. Quick question: was the guy who starts cheering HL after HL removes the top of bottle throwing guy's head and brain Janine's stepfather/MM's punching bag?
  4. I'm not sure I'll be back for next season especially if it focuses on the child sex trafficking or what ever the faux cousins are really in to. I wanted to love this show based on the cast alone but found it annoying, trite, and derivative.
  5. Season 2 starts July 24. https://www.hgtv.com/shows/hgtv-stars/articles/retta-stars-in-new-season-of-hgtvs-ugliest-house-in-america
  6. Nate: What in the Dr. Evil villain henchman heck was that up close and personal with the camera? I couldn't help it - I laughed like a loon. I'm not sure that the character can be redeemed but I'm curious to see how they try it.
  7. Trash goes out on the sidewalk once or maybe twice a week. Otherwise it's in an alley, trash room, basement, etc. And yes basement or garden level apartments are usually a little cheaper than higher floors.
  8. Allison must have amazing lawyers and agents. That's all I can say...
  9. Head's up: new episodes of the show are on Discovery Plus. Looks like they're doing the once a week thing. Not sure if they're airing on cable as well (I'm a cord cutter). Glad I went scrolling around to find something to watch while folding laundry because HGTV certainly didn't promote the show.
  10. Such a romantic ;) My theory on the vault construction: Older estates and very large farms would sometimes have tunnels between the main house and barns so staff/owners could go back and forth in very bad weather to deal with issues. Cold storage rooms were also very popular either as pantry overflow, a larder for cured meat, or, as commonly used today, to store clothes (usually furs). They were also prone to collapse and sometimes filled in when the house started sinking. So the local robber Barron hires several different work crews to shore up the space with the greatest strongest material known at the time: steel. The locksmith guy is the last tradesmen in and certainly isn't going to tell anyone about the room since there's a dead body and all. I've spent too much time thinking about this.
  11. And that kids is why Daddy/Grandpa isn't allowed to go to police auctions by himself anymore. Nice gesture but eeeeeegads! Overall I've really enjoyed this show so far. I stream it on Discovery Plus while eating breakfast and just the nice kind of fluffy fun thing to start the day with. Let's hope they keep Retta around to balance out Allison Victoria. I will say she must have awesome agents and lawyers cause HGTV is still standing by her after the Windy City Rehab disaster.
  12. Blockbuster, Enron, and Radio Shack. I remember because the banks or law firms where I was working were involved in the bankruptcies...
  13. "Well hello Mr. Hunk-a-Dunk. Will your friends Jessie L. Martin and Chris Meloni from another network be stopping by too? A lady likes to have options."
  14. I think this is one of the things they got right in a round about why haven't you explained it yet way. Influencers look good on camera because of all the contouring, fake hair, veneers, plastic surgery, face laser sculpting, filters, lights, etc but in real life they look odd like the character. Their bones are too sharp, the teeth to large, the makeup streaky and muddy orange, and they have a hard time talking and eating around the veneers and lip injections. It's very sad to see in real life. There's getting work done to feel better about yourself and then there's this self hatred driven desperation to look like the mean girls in high school. Getting off my soap box
  15. Dear Hair Department, Yes, Tony's Fabio look was a good laugh and a clear sign Frances was tripping. However, his wig -likely from a Spirit Halloween store clearance bin in mid-november - is still far and away better than anything you've put on the Oscar winning executive producer's head. Sometimes it's worth asking for a little extra in the budget or checking the couch cushions for extra change. Basically what I'm saying is don't expect a recommendation from Ms Kidman when interviewing for your next job. Love, Just about everyone in tv land
  16. Did she post it? It looked like she air dropped it or shared it with people in the office or sent it to the group of people in the office (real estate people put all their contact info out there and everywhere ). Now if the folks in the office share it with their gossipy colleagues so be it... Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.
  17. And he's sooo concerned about their future kids, having an open concept floor plan, and an office to work from home so it all flows... Does he know that kids are noisy? Babies are surprisingly loud given their cute chicken nugget size. Not to mention noxious gas producing factories.... You're gonna want some walls and excellent ventilation before working or entertaining around tiny humans.
  18. Please, please, please don't let Claudette be one of those crazy women who fell in love with the thankfully dead rapist guy and is now seeking revenge on Athena's family. As for Claudette I've worked with and managed the type before. They know it all, do it all, and are the end all be all of everyone ever but can't be promoted because they have no real people skills and don't really want to learn more while taking on new responsibilities. These folks build careers by passive aggressively undercutting coworkers and cleaning up the mess they made while trying to look all innocent. Aren't most 911 operators covered by a union? Isn't there a person at the union who could give May some unbiased advice? What about Bobby? Last season when she started working and had problems letting the emotional effects of the call go they had a good chat about it. Bobby sees her as a young adult and not that little adorable bundle he brought home from the hospital.
  19. From a production standpoint it makes sense that they would film multiple home renovations at the same time. By staying in the same area they can share crews ( construction/tv), limit travel time, and probably have a dedicated contact in the city planning/building/permitting department to expedite things.
  20. I miss Desta. She actually contributed to the design process, added some good insights, and acted as the can you believe these unrealistic homeowners complaining buddy for Hillary. The woman who assists Hillary now seems to be very junior designer who is just in the background.
  21. Eric - he was a hoot. He caught vivid during the first wave that hit New York. Here's a link to an article I remembered and Google very kindly found for me. https://people.com/home/love-it-or-list-it-star-eric-eremita-miraculously-survives-coronavirus-after-2-weeks-on-ventilator/
  22. This is the home they built for the director/producer guy and his family, right? I hope it's a case of too much Mina dropping in time and not that his wife's health has taken a turn for the worse.
  23. I agree with what many of you have pointed out. The thing that gets me is the constant "oh you can save so much money doing the work yourself" of it all. And yes that is a cost saving strategy but only if you already have the tools, equipment, and know how to do the work safely. Replacing electric panels, rewiring a house, and installing modern HVAC systems is not something most of us can safely do. In fact most of these homes probably need all new plumbing too and possibly septic systems. Mess up these things and you'll be up to your eyeballs in debt, sewage, and fire damage. I prefer the term realist to cynic. 🤪😊
  24. T-shirt for season 3 build up? Coming soon kinda thing. Putting my 12 year old thoughts in a time out while my mature enlightened self wonders about the feasibility of a fan t shirt campaign and the accompanying ad text. AHEM As for the church, they need a leader and the Deep wants/needs to lead a team and be taken seriously. His wife is book smart - women's studies prof at Vasser - and can also help/manipulate the masses with messaging, projects, outreach and such. Makes an interesting foe/faux foil for the supes and the Boys.
