Fade seems a quirky, neat guy, but I stopped short of loving the Heidi dress because the stripes didn't match very well. Expensive clothes don't have patterns that don't match at the seams. Still, it is an interesting dress, and I hope Fade gets some love for his work before this show ends.

Fade was deep in his work when Heidi blurted out her jacket question in German. It took him a minute to shift attention, but he answered Ja, appropriate for the question. I'd love to imagine he's from Milwaukee, but I think he speaks German fluently. Given that he gets so little camera time, I'm not surprised we don't hear more exchanges between Fade and Heidi.

Flowing liquor and free tattoos might be a problem for a wedding reception. I wonder how that worked out for the guests the next day :)

Christian Siriano has a line of shoes and accessories at Payless. I saw some purses that looked fine for $30 vinyl bags, but I didn't see the shoes. I'm sure these designers don't go on PR with dreams of Payless and Whatever-Mart in their heads, but these are the jobs that pay well. Life is odd that way. edited because Christian has a career outside of Payless.

Russ and Paola: You're the Only Juan for Me
BradandJanet replied to David T. Cole's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
Well, that's certainly how the situation was portrayed on the show. Paola seemed like a nice woman to me, and Russ was apparently smitten. Mom should be overjoyed if this works out. Paola would help Russ make some cute grandchildren for her. -
All Episodes Talk: French Country in Texas?
BradandJanet replied to yeswedo's topic in Fixer Upper [V]
I saw this show for the first time yesterday, and I'd probably watch it again, but the continuity was confusing. Maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention. This was the episode with the "ghost house." It looked good at the end but there were couple of moments that were head-scratching. One was that painting that large house wasn't mentioned in the budget. Of course, the reveal showed the house and the trim nicely painted. Another was when the bump out for the new upstairs bathroom was abandoned. It was, right? I had to laugh when Chip and Joanna spent time puzzling over an outcropping in the old kitchen. What could it be? An old chimney, I shouted at my TV. Only one way to find out. Take a hammer to it. Brick! We have to get rid of this brick! It runs all the way up through the third floor! Yes. Because it's a chimney, experienced flippers. You knew that. I watched this show after the one with the tattooed biker pastor and his wife in Waco who were doing a similar shabby chic reno on an old farmhouse for their family. I understand budget, but this is just not a look I like. -
As for the things realtors say, some years ago, while considering a house, realtor told hubby and me that the knob and tube wiring was superior because the wires were separated and couldn't cause a problem even if the wrapping around the wires was unraveling. We did not buy a house from that woman. As for the washlet toilets (possibly my last word on this unless TV house hunters keep insulting them), the ones we have are toilet seats that replaced the usual seats. Installation involves a wrench and a nearby electrical outlet, which our current home has by chance. If there's an outlet already there, they take about 30 minutes for the average homeowner to install. I imagine they could be removed in about 15 minutes with no heavy lifting. This is such a red herring. As for the vocal fry, there will be a generation of old women who squeak when they try to talk.
-
I also don't get the hate these otherwise picky househunters have for washlet toilet seats. I remember an episode of Love It or List It, where a woman turned up her nose at the "push-button toilet." These devices are awesome for many reasons, and if they were better known in the States, househunters would make them as necessary as granite and stainless steel. I installed them long before I decided what to do with my kitchen.

@phoenix780 , I too loved Samantha's outfit. However, it looked "manga schoolgirl," which is as contemporary as "warrior woman," so I figured it wouldn't win a futuristic challenge. Of course, in twenty years, those memes could be back, so who's to say?

Sandhya's pink color was a little deeper and richer than Angela's pale pink. I liked Angela's idea and think it might have worked in a deep blue or green with the white lapel. It also needed to fit the model. The top was two sizes too big. Sack dress was my choice to go. When I first saw the dress come out on the runway, I thought it was made of astroturf.

19 Things I Hate About You: How the Duggars Infuriate
BradandJanet replied to Ljohnson1987's topic in Counting On
I think Michelle's odd behaviors--and we've discussed them--are mainly to focus attention on herself in a passive-aggressive way. The woman is a fame whore hiding under a modest exterior. -
I think Tim was an excellent teacher and mentor to fashion design students at Parsons. However, the complexity and manipulation of reality on this TV program may be more than he can handle. I liked what Tim Gunn was; I don't know if I like what he has become.

S13.E02: Unconventional Movie Nite!
BradandJanet replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Project Runway
Yes. The team has half its time used up with false starts and must scramble to finish, so Sandhya takes a break to talk to Tim? Uh, sure. -
S13.E02: Unconventional Movie Nite!
BradandJanet replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Project Runway
Good list of hijinks. Here's another one--Sandhya's running to Tim because she's being picked on. Tim's being his kind, sympathetic, father-figure self. I'd say rehabilitation for the Under the Gunn debacle.- 270 replies

S13.E02: Unconventional Movie Nite!
BradandJanet replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Project Runway
So they're going to cut up the seats and unwrap the candy in a movie theater? I hope this challenge will be more interesting than it sounds. -
I think I learned from this show that there are solid granite countertops and granite over particle board (or whatever) countertops. Apparently they use the cheaper stuff in their budget remodels, with maybe the solid slab for a kitchen island. I'm interested because I need to remodel my kitchen and don't want to spend a fortune on granite, which I don't even like. My son says this is the only flip show he can stand because people aren't arguing and the attentive viewer can learn something useful.

The "investors" were business consultants. They had no money to give the Browns, so it was just another storyline. If anybody invests money in this stupid business, I'm going to worry about the future of capitalism.
-
I'm curious to know if they crowd-fund their healthcare. If so, the people sending in money would be a lot poorer than the cheap-o Duggars, who have a long-running TV show and several business ventures. The Duggars have the money to self-insure if they really don't want to buy insurance like the rest of us. I guess I'm just grateful they don't show up at the emergency room for free care like their friends the Bateses.

I think she said her family was Nation of Islam. The audition judges pointed out that all the samples she brought were the same dress in different colors. I wish they had asked her what shapes, styles, and lengths she could use in her designs, or even better, she had brought some different examples with her. If her ideas about modesty included different styles and variations, she would have made an interesting contestant.

Russ and Paola: You're the Only Juan for Me
BradandJanet replied to David T. Cole's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I think Paola didn't like that Russ's job as a field engineer would take him away for weeks (months?) at a time, leaving her alone in a new country. I think he thought his family would provide the needed support while he was away. Anyway, she knew the situation when she married him, but he was head over heels to keep her happy. -
The legs of Mitchell's shorts looked two different lengths when the model walked down the runway. I thought he had made them that way on purpose. Then they looked the same length from the back. None of the judges commented on the cleverness of uneven shorts, so I guess it was a problem of "riding up from wear" or being too tight in one leg or not having the fabric cut on the grain. I thought Jefferson's shorts were young and interesting, but I didn't like the top. I didn't like Mitchell's top either, so I would have voted off Mitchell.

Past Seasons Talk: 7 Seasons and Counting
BradandJanet replied to auntie thesis's topic in 19 Kids And Counting [V]
Well, remember Michelle did have the kids repeat purr-pen-dick-you-luhr to the camera in unison to show us how much they were learning.
