  1. well, with the way the nominations are coming out and the recognition it is getting, i think it has a good chance...it seemed to sweep one of the many award ceremonies already I saw this a couple of weeks ago, the hubby mentioned he wanted to see it so we checked it out...i think it is hands down one of the best movies of the year, I thought this was way better than Lady Bird....while the subject matter is deep, I liked how the character of Dixon evolved.....though did anyone else think he was the culprit in the beginning? And i have a different opinion on what they might have done had they actually reached that guy in the end...I think Mildred would have killed him once she saw him and recognized him
  2. I saw this yesterday, I liked it...but i wasn't totally wowed by it....it captured the life of a teenager VERY accurately, so I will give the writer/director props for that, I thought at times it was pretty funny....but I didn't think there was anything "original" about this story, it was just a typical run of the mill coming of age story about a teenager girl I will say though that I looked on rotten tomatoes and it now has a score of 99%...it got a lone rotten review! so there goes the perfect score I wouldn't be surprised if S.Ronan wins best actress, but i'd be surprised if this wins for best movie...I actually thought Three Billboards and the Shape of Water were much better movies :(
  3. I thought the special effects this season were much improved, and I liked that we saw Lucas’s parents this season and as others have said I never thought going back to the first few episodes of this show I’d like Steve. But I didn’t like how Nancy and johnathon didn’t have much of a purpose besides getting together, I didn’t like the El separatation for so long but I got why it happened, and while I’m assuming max’s family will have a bigger role to play later I just felt like her and the brother were filler at times, but i did read on here some interesting theories on what the brothers future could be. Am am I the only one who thought a Bob was originally a plant from the lab?Lol as for Steve, while I liked that he was with the kids, I hope if he does stick around for season 3 they give him more to do, the triangle is getting old and they can’t have him hanging with middle schoolers for the rest of the series. I actually prefer Nancy with Jonathan but even their storyline was disappointing/dull. Count me in with those who like El with hopper.
  4. Well those "bottom of the barrel" men you speak of deserve more respect than what you are showing them right now. I think to be stuck on a mountain in the rain knowing any moment you could be blown to pieces and continue to fight, rescue the wounded is pretty darn brave. It just shows all how controversial all these years later this war still is. And yet people are still dogging these vets. This show is excellent by the way.
  5. I think one of the problems is they are marketing it as a horror movie when it's not, jlaw herself apparently said this (not being a horror movie). I had had to laugh, for a hot second it was certified fresh on RT-not anymore! I didn't know a movie could lose that status lmao

    It (2017)

The director said the reason you didn't see the werewolf or the mummy is because he felt those were the things kids in the 50s were afraid of, but not in the 80s. So he changed it. i read the major changes between the first draft with the first director and the current one were: this guy took out "the scene" and also another planned sexual scene from the book with Henry bowers (book readers might remember that one) and this guy chose to add the leper scene and changed the original names back (some of them were changed) and this guy also really wanted the smoke pipe scene but it was too expensive so it got cut-bummer!
  7. I don't know what to think. Originally I wanted to see this, but now I'm not so sure. JLaw said it is either a love it or hate it movie. I liked Black Swan, despite it being weird as hell. So far it is doing well on Rotten Tomatoes. The more I hear about the plot though, the weirder it sounds.......

    It (2017)

I saw this yesterday, my theater was dead because we went at like, 1 pm. I think it would have been interesting to see with a full house. For a movie I originally had no interest in seeing, this really exceeded my expectations. While I still really like the TV mini series movie, that one seems really sub par compared to this one right now lol. I thought the casting of the following kids were really good: Bill, Beverly, Eddie, and Ben. I think the kid from stranger things was decent as Richie but to me he just didn't seem like Richie, and I thought Stan and Mike were just okay castings. Perhaps they needed to show them more, I'm not sure. I liked when they were all together, but I think I liked the castings of the kids in the TV movie better overall. However, I was not a fan of the adult castings in the TV movie so I hope the next movie has better adult castings. Bill S. as Pennywise was excellent, excellent, excellent! I liked that he gave it a different spin than Tim Curry and I think they made Pennywise look so much more menacing, like he's supposed to be! I mean, I get the TV series had it's limits, but I know a major complaint about TIm Curry's Pennywise was that he was too comical. The exchange between this Pennywise and Georgie in the first scene-so so good! Much better done than in the TV movie. I was a little disappointed that in both movies, neither one showed a scene from the book of Eddie being tormented by Pennywise while trying to sleep in his bed....I remember that being such a scary part in the book. But at least they showed the leper. What I liked about this movie is that it showed I think more than the other movie did is that Pennywise was always there. Have you read the book? I think you'd be a little disturbed by what went on with Bev in it.
  9. well, i think they had set us up all season for a dragon death....believe it or not, i feel better about it happening by the NK instead of ceresei and qyborn! and i'm anxious to see what viserion as an ice dragon will look like....so....is anyone out yet? I remember people on this forum saying they were done with this show if a dragon dies-or does this not count :) as for jon/dany....well....i remember that witch saying when the sun rises in the west and sets in the east line....so...i'm still not quite on board with it unless i guess the lord of light intervenes ;) i agree with the others that say ceresei won't bat an eye to the wight....jamie i think will take it more seriously but not her.....but it looks like grey worm comes back finally! and yeah, arya has gotten strange but remember, she and sansa were never best buds....
  10. I think qyburn or however you spell his name might do it next time. Poison the arrows or use some type of poison or gas. I was was resigned to the fact the dragons might die when the city of braavos referred to themselves as dragon killers....I always thought the magic coming out of that city would do it.....don't worry peeps....the red witch will reserrect them and then die just like she predicted lol....it will be game of thrones meets skyrim lol cerse ain't staying on the throne!!!!! Remember the prophecy in the flashback scene!
  11. I'm so sad this show is slowly coming to an end ? I think Drogon will just need time to heal-they showed him twice in the previews-pretty sure they showed him roaring at Jon on dragonstone-I think one of those large arrows would have to pierce the heart or head to kill. I think he was more injured in Mereen. But I saw someone mention will the arrows be poisoned.....interesting prediction! Dany was not bright though-the minute she saw the arrow she should have pulled up and flown out. And how did they get off dragon stone so quick? I was expecting all 3 dragons, not the dothraki. Great battle though, the wait for this season has been worth it. But-I don't know if I see Jon, Tyron, and the others supporting the dany we saw in next weeks preview. So I wouldn't hold out for any romance between the two of them just yet lol.

    Dunkirk (2017)

Well, I originally wanted to see the Dark Tower this weekend, but passed when I saw the dismal reviews, so I saw this instead. This really exceeded my expectations. I'm glad this was light on the violence and that this movie was not another saving private ryan. I agree with others that the sound and cinematography is what the movie. I so didn't recognize Tom Hardy until the end lol...it's what I like about it, him versatility. I guess my only complaint was we didn't know any of the soldiers names, the only names stated it seemed were the sons....and I too thought that Cilllian M. was the pilot at first, but then I figured out the time sequence stuff. I actually thought that was clever how he tied it all together. I'm glad to see the movie is doing as well as it is, I thought this movie would have done better in the fall, not at the peak of summer blockbuster...glad to see I was wrong.

    Disney Films

Looking forward to dumbo despite Tim burton being involved!
  14. ^i agree with this.....I think the studio and/or writers thought giving her the chance to go back to sleep would redeem him, but it backfired, they should have presceened it to a test audience and done a reshoot if necessary. I mean you think they would have wanted it to be more successful.
  15. Saw this tonight-I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I knew what the twist was because the very early synopsis on it revealed it. I think the biggest mistake the studio made was when they marketed this turning that aspect of it into a twist. I think what would have redeemed the ending and maybe in turn would have won the viewers back instead of going the "happy" ending route she did go back into hibernation and showed him visiting her pod, growing old, having drinks with Arthur etc. and then she arrive on homestead II and watch a video he leave for her and she then begins her "new life". Apparently an alternate ending was that during the repair of the ship all of the pods accidentally eject and I guess once the ship lands on homestead II only Jim and auroras descendents come off? Thank god they didn't go that route! The ship though was very cool it reminded me of a cruise ship only in space lol. And for those who want to see Pratt and Lawrence again on screen, I'm sure it'll happen again-neither one is hurting for work these days.
  16. No-these moves DO NOT need Shia back....his character was nothing but annoying, I'd rather have Mark Whalberg (and that's not saying much) All these sequels have been a mess, I actually thought this one was decent-like I said, no masterpiece-maybe I looked at it differently because I got to see it for free but I don't think it deserves all this hate. But I agree it's time for Michael Bay to hang up the hat....I haven't really liked his stuff in a while, I refuse to see 13 hours....oh and was it just me or did the love interest chick look too much like Megan Fox????
  17. I saw this tonight during a special screening. It wasn't half bad! I mean, it was no masterpiece but was way better compared to the last 3 movies. I rate this one second best to the first one (and I thought the first one was the only good movie). I got to see it in 3D though 3D is not a must. So-if you are a fan, I'd recommend. And maybe I'm more positive because I saw the movie for free but I was seriously kinda dreading to go to it and only went because I had this opportunity to see it as a special screening. I was happily disappointed to be engaged the entire time.
  18. I want to like this.....but i'm still afraid of being BvS x 2....meaning......I was tricked into thinking BvS was going to be good and it SO WASN'T.....I saved myself from Suicide Squad which i recently saw on HBO....so I am waiting for the RT reviews (which i know Snyder hates) to make my final decision LOL
  19. ok so when i first saw the teaser trailers i had no interest in this movie....when i saw the other trailers i still had no interest....then i saw the RT scores and reviews and i decided to see the first showing today because it is the cheapest ($5.50 a ticket)......I see I am in the minority because i really enjoyed it! I agree that the crew was blah...i wasn't into them either....the only couple that didn't annoy me was the couple that got killed in the shower at the end! I guess what i liked about it was how the evilness of David really came full circle...I mean he started it all on promethesius....and then to see how he killed the engineers and shaw.....and then of course how predictable.....he was going to overtake the ship but when Daniels realizes it is him and then falls into hypersleep, I thought that was a pretty good scene.....you gotta give it to Fassbender....but then again I'm a huge fan so I'm biased ;) I also liked how this movie explained more about why the aliens looked the way they did....but it left a lot of stuff unanswered....which i knew from the stuff i read.....hopefully the sequel he has planned gets made.....something tells me Fassbender will be in that one too As far as Billy Crudup's character goes....yeah he was pretty stupid....but it sounded like he was a man of faith.....and it appears he had a history of making bad decisions...hence why he was never captain.....had that been daniels she never would have willing stuck her head in.....and he never listened to Daniels....he didn't trust her judgement not to go to that planet.....i think the movie spoke a lot about being careful what you wish for....the engineers wanted to wipe out the humans (who they created) so they created an organism that killed them on that remote planet......humans created artificial intelligence...that artificial intelligence in turn wiped out (most) of the engineers and is trying to make sure the humans don't have a chance of life beyond earth.....for Crudup's character....he wanted a chance to lead and the first chance he gets he leads them to disaster The reason i say most of the engineers got wiped out is because i'm guessing this isn't the last we hear of them....Scott has a lot more sequel's planned if allowed and I'm assuming he will someday explain why the engineers created humans and why the engineers created the black goo stuff.... Oh and one thing that bugged was how fast the xenomorph things were growing this time! made no sense......the only thing i can figure was the atmosphere of the planet? the next movie better tie into the movie Alien...no plot holes please LOL

    Logan (2017)

I saw this opening weekend and I thought it was just okay. While i didn't mind it being R rated I just thought it was too much of a departure from a typical X men movie....like I don't mind change, but this was just too different. I know the critics liked it, but i was disappointed and i thought it moved way too slow. I liked the dynamic between logan and charles and i felt sooo bad for the farmer family but was not surprised.....the girl was decent and i liked the dynamic between her/logan/charles i was annoyed that people brought their kids to this in the theater i was in, and of course the one was on their phone the entire time...bored no doubt
  21. That picture was Chiron and Paula when he was a baby, back in happier times before she was a drug addict..... That was a sad scene..... I also think the guy was NOT short, just that Chiron was teaching him he had to be sure NEVER to be short of money
  22. Saw this today-our theater was pretty packed for a matinee. Me and the hubby really liked it, it reminded me of a Alfred Hitchcock slash twilight zone type of movie which they don't really make anymore. I agree the very end got a little too cliche horror, but the movie was still really good and I can't believe the guy from key and peele did this lol. I knew from the minute I saw the trailer the girlfriend was in on it, glad to see I was right. Good calls on the connection with grandpa being Walter with the sprinting! I was like, what the...with that scene lol my husband totally figured out the twist was that Chris was going to be auctioned off- I was thinking modern day slavery, why pay a servant when you can hypnotize one. But I don't think anyone guesses about the immortality thing. And I agree about the brother coming off as too hill billish when the parents are so educated. I read on Wikipedia the original ending was Chris was to be arrested when the cops pulled up while he strangled rose, but that peele changed his mind on it after production started and a lot of media attention focused on police bias with racial discrimination so he wanted the main character to have a happy ending. i really thought rod was going to be too late and get there only to find Chris be "one of them"
  23. I still have to see this, I passed seeing it in the theater when my friends told me to save my money but I just want to say, I find the title of this thread hilarious!
  24. Count me in as someone who was happy to see this get recognized for best original screenplay over La La Land! And while I didn't see Fences yet, I'm glad Casey A. won, very deserving performance.
  25. Finally saw this on DVD last week, I enjoyed it, thought it was a solid movie and l loved Chris Pine in this. An oscar win would have been nice but Moonlight and La La Land had been getting all the love. My only complaint about the movie was that it was hard to understand them at times when they spoke.
