They did have sex. Back in the '70s, that was pretty common in TV series - they did the fade-out rather than show anything explicit (and especially in a comedy that was considered mostly family-friendly). Margaret was the one who later said "Nothing happened," but it was just a defense mechanism. Hawkeye called her on it.

It looks like WGN America has dropped it entirely. Not sure what's going on with TV Land. Their website still lists it as one of their shows, but yeah, it's been missing from the afternoon slot lately. Hulu has the entire series.

Ken Levine blogs about recent Triple Stumpers. And then numerous people in the comments section mention the David Lee Roth TS of yesterday.

Thank you! Truly. I am so sick of "Happy Birthday" I could barf. The Jeopardy! think music will be my new go-to (for the full 30 seconds, why the hell not).

Yes, Alex needs to stay safe. I even get upset when I hear him with a cold.

So sad to hear of James Lipton's passing. -
Treat yourselves to some H.P. Lovecraft! He's awesome. As for the pronunciation, I've always said Ka-thoo-loo, but I could be wrong.

I'm more annoyed that he couldn't play the game according to its rules. How many times did Alex have to tell him about his phrasing? Really, dude? You went through the whole audition process, you should certainly know this by now. Alex was more patient than I would've been.

@PennyPlain: When they got married, or when they got together? I'll assume you mean you stopped at the beginning of Season 10 (their wedding). I think there are many great episodes in the last 2 seasons, and a couple of them are considered true classics ("Fathers and Sons" in season 10, "The Doctor Is Out" in season 11). Lots of fans (including me) thought the character played by Felicity Huffman was not a welcome addition (she's in maybe a half-dozen episodes). And there's a season 11 arc that features Laura Linney as a love interest; I liked her character well enough, but apparently I'm in the minority. Long story short, I think you should try a few episodes that you missed. The show was not brilliant anymore by its final 2 seasons, but I still loved it.

They didn't stop tape when a contestant fainted (or nearly fainted), but your question about the sneezing attack is interesting. That had to have happened at least once!

"Quadrophenia" is a masterpiece and the fact that it was a TS is unacceptable. What a lousy game after we've all been so spoiled by the GOAT matches.

Yay, Ken!! I was never a fan of James, and this tourney didn't change my mind about that. His comment about Brad's score still showing didn't come across like playful banter, but rather mean-spirited. I also wish this had gone longer, but I'm delighted that "old man" Ken could prevail over the younger, gutsier James.

What I remember from Ken's original run is that he tried to write his name differently each game (although probably didn't start that until he'd been on for some time). I remember thinking, he's gonna run out of ideas! I wonder if the TWOP Jeopardy forum still exists as an archive. He joined us for a time on that board while his run was airing, armed with snark, of course.

That. Was. Awesome. I'm totally Team Ken, so couldn't be happier. Regardless, what an intense, exciting and fun match to watch, and now I'm bummed that I'll have to miss part of tomorrow night's show due to an appointment.

Martin Sheen, with an assist from son Charlie, in an ad for SingleCare. "Felt like a West Wing moment." Love it!

@Oldernowiser, my opinion is it's worth continuing, but keeping in mind you'll have to endure some crude moments like that. I don't think I ever watched any of Lorre's other shows, but of course I know his reputation. I was pleasantly surprised by this show, both seasons. That said, I probably would have tolerated worse, because I have adored Michael Douglas for literally 45 years, and have been following Alan Arkin's career for almost as long. So the cast/acting overcomes the content for me.

I clicked into this thread expecting to see 3 pages of rants about the Jeff Goldblum category. Are you guys too traumatized to react? For the record, I like him, but yeah, that was painfully slow.

What a weird and great episode! They can do this every year, far as I'm concerned.

No, they are going to be taping the tourney in early December, according to USA Today. I have to know: did you get sick & tired of Famous Amos Cookies?
-
Just watched a clip of it on Twitter. Ellen gave him a 75-inch TV. He really seems like an awesome guy.

Well done, and thank you! Please continue to use your power for good.

The Dick Van Dyke Show - General Discussion

"It's like being the last living cell in a dead body." (I think it's from that episode... haven't seen it in awhile.) Love the spookiness! This show had quite a few great spooky episodes (like when they're at the cabin and people disappear one by one). -

Awesome casting! And putting her character in Colombia was inspired. I recognized him almost right away, but I was taken aback. It wasn't that long ago he guest-starred on Stranger Things, and he didn't look nearly this old on that show. I'm so happy for Norman. Delighted to have this show back (even if it's only 8 episodes). -

Aw, bummer that Jason is gone. Mainly because I'm not wild about the new champ. Alex said we would see Jason again in the Tournament of Champions, but he didn't mean the one coming in November, did he?
