  1. I was also a tween during the show's original run, and I second this. In fact, in the episode "Inga," Margaret's rant to Hawkeye outside the mess tent was downright huge to me. Such an inspiring thing to hear at that age, at least back then. For anyone who might not know the scene: "You think a woman is dead until she lives for you. Well, let me tell you something, Benjamin Franklin, we actually survive without you. We live, we breathe, we dream, we do our work, we earn our pay, sometimes we even have our little failures, and then we pull ourselves together all without benefit of your fabulous electric lips! And let me tell you something else, buster. I can walk into that kitchen anytime I want, and replace those fabulous lips of yours with a soggy piece of liver!"

Well, I would think preemptions of the national network schedule (such as the example of the Eagles game) would be rare. In Philly, the Eagles are royalty, so even their first preseason game is so "important" that it kicks NBC programming over to Cozi.

Depends on your market. For instance, I'm in the Philly market. Last night, channel 10, which is NBC, showed a local Eagles game. That moved the normal NBC schedule over to Cozi, if you follow what I mean.
  4. Jeff Lasky, who was one of the challengers during Sam's run in July, writes about the experience on Ken Levine's blog today. (Note that today's post is Part 1 of 2.)
  5. Oh, agreed. It's so atmospheric and beautiful, especially when the shot moves to show the exterior of the Swamp while the singing continues inside.
  6. Holy cow, this was the last episode of the season? That snuck up on me. I'm glad Jason won and will be returning next season. Maybe he'll shave off his beard during the hiatus so we can see the Nicolas Cage resemblance even more clearly. And of course I hope Alex continues whatever treatment he needs, and that he returns rested and refreshed.
  7. I'm conflicted. I thought Nathan was cute, but holy cow... so OTT. Even so, I prefer him to Roey. I felt like the woman in the middle should have gotten credit for bifocalifornia. Tie-breakers are becoming almost commonplace.

From "Frasier's Imaginary Friend" -- "I am not crazy! I am dating a supermodel zoologist who I stole away from a professional football player and she is off to the Galapagos islands to artificially inseminate iguanas! Is that so hard to believe?" I've probably said it before on this forum, but this whole bit has me in stitches every time, and trust me, I've seen the episode like, a million times. His whole wide-eyed axe-murderer expression and then finally flinging himself onto the couch... it's Kelsey at his most hilarious. Also great are his reactions to Niles' questions in this scene from "The One Where Diane Comes Back." "Any lingering resentment?" "Over what?"
  9. Aw, bummer. OK, thanks for the reply, @Abstract.
  10. Does Netflix have Ken's entire run of 74 games? (It's OK if nobody answers this. I'll be on Netflix later today for Stranger Things anyway, so I'll try to remember to check.)
  11. The Jeopardy! curse was at it again today. There was a clue about the L.A. Angels.
  12. Nothing earth-shattering here, just a nice blog post from Ken Levine about Alex. (Ken is a TV writer best known for Cheers, Frasier, M*A*S*H.)
  13. @Abstract, if you like Gregg Hurwitz, you should try Harlan Coben and Linwood Barclay, if you haven't already. Lisa Scottoline has a series about an all-female law firm. They are generally quick & light reads.
  14. Just finished the season. This was great storytelling, and as you all have already said, the acting was phenomenal. Christina Applegate was a revelation to me. I've only seen her in comedies. I cried when it was revealed that Abe died. I would recommend After Life (also on Netflix), although maybe you have to be a Ricky Gervais fan? I loved it. Just one season so far, but it will be back for another. And yet another Netflix original: Russian Doll, which at first I didn't think I was going to like, but I stuck with it anyway, and by episode 3, I was completely hooked.
  15. Those guys were so bleepin' fast on the buzzer. I can't imagine how frustrating that must be. Congrats on getting FJ, @teebax. Good job! How did they determine who got which podium?
  16. What's the Friends documentary? Is it something new?
  17. @cleo, you might want to check out Ken Levine's blog; he was one of the writers on the show. He does "Friday questions" every week, so you can read his archives, or (if you have a specific question) you can ask him and maybe he'll select it to answer.
  18. Quick question. I've been vegetarian for decades. The last time I tried any fake "lunchmeats" was ages ago and I didn't find anything I liked. Just wondering if there is something on the market that's actually good, by this time. Anyone? Thanks in advance.
  19. Hey, @Prevailing Wind, if the Purina OM food keeps on working for you and the cats, that's great. But boy, I had a bad situation a few years ago with Purina food with a couple of my kitties (they were littermates), and I did a whole lot of experimenting and research to find a different food that would work. I landed on Halo Sensitive Stomach dry food, which turned out to be a Godsend. Yes, expensive, but it totally solved my cats' problem. Just wanted to share because it took me a lot of time and $$$ to figure that out, but we've been happy campers ever since. Good luck to you and the kitties.
  20. Thanks for that, @WendyCR72. I thought I'd seen every M*A*S*H blooper ever, but there were a few in there that were new to me.
  21. This is where I'm at, too. By this point, I'm just not interested in watching him. It's been a long time since Ken, but I swear I don't remember that run being like this (complete domination every game), but someone correct me if I'm wrong. I just loved Ken, though (still do), and was only lukewarm about James from the start. Probably going to stop tuning in for a bit.
  22. Or maybe Josh Radnor, of How I Met Your Mother fame?
  23. You may recall that they did the same thing just before Austin Rogers appeared on the show, teasing that a "great new champion" was coming along soon, so be sure to tune in every day. So this is not a new PR strategy for them. Yep, I'm anxious to hear from @teebax too! We don't need any game details, of course, but just a general check-in, plus hopefully Alex appeared to be doing OK.
  24. I felt so bad for Anna. Imagine getting all the way to making an appearance on the show, and only being able to ring in twice.
