  1. Is there a reason we lost the sad emoji? (very appropriate for the Celebrity Deaths thread)
  2. I'm enjoying Ryan, and he's from my neck of the woods. The local news station just showed this interview. Sounds like he was struggling financially before all this.
  3. "Treachery. Two-faced. Malicious accusery. Pearl Harbor... I got it: On the Street Where You Live!" Agreed, that is amazing writing, and so well-performed too.
  4. In the episode "Draw Me a Pear," which was during season 5, Laura says they've been married for 9 years. Context: Rob and Laura take an art class and the teacher's attracted to Rob (not knowing at first that they're a married couple). Teacher later phones him but Laura answers, saying "He's my husband. Yeah, yeah, 9 years now."
  5. In reference to Tom's note in FJ: I know GG means "good game." What is GG WP? (Sorry, I'm an old chick.)
  6. From this article, it sounds like Mayim is not locked in for hosting next season (at least not yet).
  7. Ken will be leaving The Chase. I hope it means he'll be the J! host more often (if not full-time).
  8. Homer wasn't an idiot, but he was still Homer. "I didn't used to wear carpeting! I used to wear pants made out of pants!"
  9. Chandler and Monica got married in Manhattan, did they not? I'm baffled why all 6 friends were checking out of a hotel the next morning. I get why the bride and groom would book a hotel for their wedding night, but we actually see the others checking out as well. (Joey watched porn and the girls got billed for it.) I feel like I'm missing something.
  10. The episode's on YouTube, and the big reveal comes at the tail end. Rob and Laura are suitably freaked out by his confession, but it's mystifying why the writers thought that was a "funny" trait for the character to admit to. They were talented enough to find another resolution to the story.
  11. I'll start by saying the series is one of my all-time favorites, and "sophisticated comedy" is still the phrase that best describes it, for me. But on the subject of "dated" - there's an episode where Rob and Laura play matchmaker for a new neighbor, and the big punchline is that he doesn't want to get serious with a woman because he has a tendency to hit them. Oh man, "cringe" doesn't even begin to cover my reaction to that episode.
  12. 96 years old but he can still dance! This is a joy to watch.
  13. Among the Super Bowl commercials last night was one that included a Jeopardy bit and "don't blink or you'll miss him" Buzzy Cohen. I didn't care for Buzzy when he was a contestant, but I have to say, he's been a kick lately.
  14. There's something wrong when the contestant knows more about how the game is played than the host does. "Can I bet $2000?" Yes, you can, sir... and you should also help yourself to Mayim's salary for this episode, since you're doing her job for her. I liked Emma and am happy she won.
  15. Oh, how sad. I adored Johnny Fever. Remember when he was convinced the phone cops were after him because he'd smashed a phone to pieces? What an iconic character. You brought us lots of laughs, Mr. Hesseman.
  16. Wow! But Amy had an awesome run. And I love Rhone's name as well as his glasses.
  17. Aw, Meat. That sucks. His music was a total pleasure, not a guilty pleasure. The man had talent, and he seemed like a truly good guy. (I base that on his "Behind the Music" episode, where I found him relatable and funny and so appreciative of his fame.)
  18. I donated to 3 local animal shelters in Betty's name today. I'm not bringing it up to pat myself on the back, but to offer a gentle reminder to anyone who might have forgotten about the #BettyWhiteChallenge (or didn't even hear about it to begin with). What a sad/happy day, if you know what I mean.
  19. Totally worth it, though, for "You're blurry, but you still look like Ursula. You're Blursula."
  20. The ruling of "Sorry, too much time" seems very different now compared to the Alex era. It feels like only one second goes by before Ken says no. I swear it's a lot quicker. Just me? Or maybe it's the way the show is edited.
  21. Hulu has just added The Golden Palace, if anyone's looking to see that rarity.
  22. This show is streaming on Hulu now. I just noticed it.
  23. So sad, like all of you. Damn, that woman was talented, hilarious, and so genuine. Have a laugh, though - she'd want it that way. Snickers commercial.
