  1. Wow, exciting game! I thought for sure Ray would be leaving us; really impressive challengers today. I like him a lot, though. As some of you have said, that voice is so calming.
  2. He definitely reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on it. Eli Manning when he was younger, maybe?
  3. That was Muffy! Thanks for the great memory, I actually remember that scene. I can't remember what I ate for supper last night, but I can remember an obscure Square Pegs scene...
  4. I noticed Ryan Long's absence in that photo as well. I'm still not over his one-and-done appearance in the tourney. Such a bummer. He's local to my area and so I've seen some interviews on the news, and he seems like a great guy. He will be appearing in the Philly Thanksgiving Day Parade, btw.
  5. Wow, what a thrilling ending! Sam! I love this tourney. It could go on for weeks and that would be fine with me. (But yes, I know the rules and that it'll end Tuesday at the latest.)
  6. This is an exciting tourney! I hope Amy and Sam start aggressively hunting for the DDs. (Hint, don't select the first or even second clue in a category!) When Andrew lands on them, he doubles his score. C'mon, wake up, guys. I'm just nervous 'cause I'm pulling for Amy first, and Sam second.
  7. I know, right? What is... something you never expected to see Ken do. Such a fun episode.
  8. Just heard about this Keanu bashing earlier today and I feel out of the loop. I've always liked Matthew Perry and assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that he was past his addictions/problems. Living comfortably on his royalties and doing fine. But why lash out at Keanu for no reason? It doesn't compute in my mind.
  9. I was worried about you. It was a bit of a shock not to see your usual post on Sunday. As a longtime Constant Reader, I loved this ep and thought they did SK proud. But yeah, it was light on laughs, except for Kang and Kodos at the end, which I giggled about for a long time.
  10. Being a huge MASH fan, I have to call out the writers for poor research (or poor proofreading) today. The episode is called "Patent 4077," as in, to invent something and get a patent for it. Not "Patient." OK, I feel better getting that off my chest.
  11. Yeah, call me crazy, but I loved it too. When a show's been around for 700+ episodes, sometimes you just gotta do weird shit. I'm here for it.
  12. Ken is so funny, talking directly to Lady Gaga, confident she watches the show every night. His sense of humor just makes this show even more delightful than it already is. Go, Luigi!
  13. Burt Metcalfe, Larry Gelbart, Gene Reynolds - the main creative forces behind my all-time favorite show - all of them gone now. I hope they're all hanging out together in the afterlife, swilling gin in a Swamp-like setting.
  14. I try not to say too much about Mayim because it just feels like piling on. But for me, the real issue is that she was not a Jeopardy! fan or even watcher (she's said so in interviews), and it really shows. Meanwhile, there's a deep understanding (and love) of the game that shines through with Ken. Regarding women who could do the job: on the day of Alex Trebek's death, I happened to be watching MSNBC when the news broke. The anchor at the time, Alex Witt, started out saying she had some really bad news to share, and after she gave the details, she also mentioned that she and her family treated Jeopardy! like a religion, watching every single night. So right there is one woman who could most likely do the job (assuming she'd want to), not to mention many other women in the news or journalism business. Samantha Bee is going to be available!
  15. And one permanent host (talk about consistency!).
  16. Jon Hamm's unrequited love for Flo is my new commercial obsession (best part: his own reaction when he blurts out "Hand!"), and I want to see many, many more.
  17. Former head researcher of Jeopardy on Ken Levine's podcast. This is part one, conclusion next week. It's interesting! She's retired so there is no scoop on who the permanent host will be, so don't expect that info. (Who's Ken Levine, you might be asking? He was a sitcom writer on shows like Cheers, Frasier, and he has a great blog and obviously a podcast too.)
  18. I was in another room at the time of the Beverly Cleary clue, but what was wrong with Ramona Quimby as the response? (And then I think just Ramona was accepted.)
  19. Some friends and I say "moo point" exclusively. As long as "normal" people aren't around, "moot" doesn't even exist for us anymore.
  20. Yeah, once I saw this tweet from him, I started rooting even harder for him. I have no idea if he's struggling with medical bills, but let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if he is.
  21. Both @shapeshifter and I asked about the sad emoji in the Bugs thread, and they replied that it will be returning.
