  1. Me, too! Hawkeye explains it so clearly, it makes you feel like you could do it yourself. My only complaint with the scene is that it seems like the patient goes without breathing for an awfully long time. I understand you need to say your prayer, Father (which turns out to be grace), but can't you do it at the same time you're cutting?
  2. Reason #438 why this show should come back: I want to see more of and know more about Jeff and Sprinkles. Are they as intelligent and introspective as Martin? Who is the alpha? Is Sprinkles OK with his/her name? The questions are endless.
  3. I still haven't caught up with all of the episodes, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the ones that I have seen. Just wanted to share this article, in which we learn that a return to ABC is a tiny bit possible, and "other outlets have also called expressing interest."
  4. There are lots of streaming services these days… have faith! It could find a new home.
  5. OK, who jinxed Lisa? I didn't see her first game, but she won me over with her cat story today. Agree with all of you that no one getting FJ was shocking. In the privacy of my living room, I decided to "bet it all" since I had worked in a bookstore* in the '80s. Lo and behold, I knew it instantly, and I could even picture the book's cover. (*You used to be able to walk into a store where there were shelves and shelves of books and you could browse and stuff. Ha, I shouldn't be so snarky, I read on a Kindle myself now!)
  6. I think you folks have gotten all of them, plus there was this Family Guy bit with Adam West.
  7. If you mean the "Hanky Panky" episode, then yes, I think he slept with Carrie the nurse. He later said he "fell off the fidelity wagon." Another case where the show only implied the sex. Also on MeTV and WGN America. It's remarkable, how often it's airing these days.

I've seen "The Perfect Host" (years ago). If you plan to see it, stay completely unspoiled. Don't even watch trailers. It will be way more fun if you don't know anything ahead of time. Pierce is terrific in it, in a highly unusual role.
  9. Very well-put, and I agree. Altman does sound bitter with those remarks. I can't even watch his movie, to be honest. IMO, they definitely had sex. For a "sitcom" in the 1970s, it was S.O.P. to only imply sex, usually with a fade to commercial like in this episode. There was never any question in my mind that they did the deed.
  10. Oh damn, I missed the interviews. Could somebody give a quick recap for this ginormous M*A*S*H fan, please?
  11. I didn't see much of this tourney, including Thursday's game, but I thought last night's game was quite good. I got misty-eyed when David won, and I'm not sure why. He just seemed very genuine (not that the others didn't, mind you). Congrats to him!
  12. One of my favorite scenes of the entire series is the shot from outside the Swamp, when Potter, Hawk and B.J. are singing. It's beautiful and poignant and so atmospheric.
  13. You know, it's true. A person really does need at least 2 plys (plies?). That, and the Meat can "with no other descriptive words" had me LOLing.
  14. I am so sad that MST3K was a TS. What's the world coming to? Got FJ right away... with my cat Damian at my side.
  15. A young Troy Aikman?
  16. I'd add another exclamation point, because yeah… that's pretty crazy. William Goldman is my second favorite author and way back in 1990, I went to see him speak at a college. His opening joke was something like, "So how many of you thought you were coming to see the guy who wrote Lord of the Flies?" So I had a feeling that somebody was going to answer with "lords" and "flies," ha ha. I'll miss Grant, I liked him.
  17. And Sean Giambrone (who's too young to know that commercial) really nailed it.
  18. When I was having a heater problem, I told the repair guy I MacGyver'd a solution until he could get here, and he totally got what I meant. So yeah, very easy FJ for me.
  19. Sleeping Beauties (written with his son Owen) has just been given a publication date of Sept. 26.

Wait. I think the hippie chick is Nanny G. Right? (Or so I have always assumed.) He was married twice, with Diane being an almost-third time.
  21. "Silence of the Lambs" was a book sequel, but movie-wise, I'm pretty sure there was no connection between "Manhunter" and the Demme movie. Different studios, different directors. Just two movies that happened to be adapted from the same book series. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, though. People don't know Gilligan was the Skipper's little buddy anymore? Wheel me off to the nursing home.
  22. I was about to say the same thing about the contacts. There were hard lenses before 1971. Comfy soft lenses were a big deal when they came along. It seemed to me like they had gotten chummy beforehand (though of course I don't know). It didn't bug me either, I just assumed they were instant friends and were having fun while competing.
  23. Not exaggerating, I expect to need several days off work when this inevitably happens. I will be inconsolable. Of course I hope that it's waaay in the future (although he just turned 81 yesterday).
  24. Ditto what mjc570 said, about rooting for Lisa because she lives in my area (which also means that mjc570 lives in my area. Howdy, neighbor!). But I also really liked Paul, especially once he admitted to having watched soaps as a kid. Took guts. OMG, yes. Now that you say it… totally yes.
  25. I am showing my age, but When Things Were Rotten was such a fun, silly show. Dick Gautier was one of those guys who was all over the place in the '70s. Loved him.
