I turned 55 a couple of weeks ago, and I don't think I'm old - hell, I have a hard enough time realizing I'm an adult, let alone that I'm old. Of course, being a guy, the rules are different.
They had a series of them last year, I think. One with a wolf, the eagle one you saw, a couple of others I'm not recalling off hand. The reminded me of the original Alien movie...probably not what they were going for.
This is just the latest in a line of recent commercials I hate - why do advertisers think that showing close ups of someone stuffing food in their face will get me to buy their product?
I like that commercial, but if she didn't say her name into the phone at the beginning, I'm not sure I would have identified her, probably wouldn't have paid attention to the hold music, and not really gotten the joke. Flo is, as always, annoying...
I think it may be some algorithm that pulls the original story as a "related link" to something else, but people don't realize that. Most of the old obits that have been posted recently have the original publication date listed on the page, so it's easy to see when it was published, but that apparently gets overlooked.
I started to second guess myself, because I knew the movie came out around that time, but started thinking the novel was earlier than that. Not that I could think of another answer in any case.
I don't remember if Jon said it (might have been Rachel Maddow) but the best line I heard about the video was "Your campaign is in trouble when you don't even carry a majority of your immediate family."
I was amazed that it was a FJ question, and stunned that they both got it wrong. Even if you haven't played chess, it's the same a a checkers board, and I suspect most people have seen one of those.
I have a good friend who was a senior staffer for Al D'Amato, starting when he was a local Long Island politician and throughout his tenure in the Senate. He was telling me once that back in the day, D'Amato and Ted Kennedy would fight tooth and nail on the floor of the Senate, then get together at Joe Biden's house on Friday nights and work out their difference over a game of cards. That never happens any more - the two sides won't talk to one another, never mind sit down and work out compromises.
I believe SC is the last state that flies that flag in any sort of official, government-controlled or sponsored manner. Yes, it appears all over, but it is primarily by private individuals/organizations.
You haven't read too many YouTube comments, have you? I could only imagine the sort of vile tripe an ad like this would generate from certain dark places of the Internet.
No. I've heard of the movie, have never seen it. I didn't remember McConaughey was in it, and had no idea of the storyline or that it included an actual Lincoln automobile.
