  1. I disagree. Michael is not dumb. Ashley's non-HW's income is negligible in comparison to her HWs salary. Let's assume (for the sake of argument) that she is making a modest $250k per year from the show. That puts her firmly in the middle in terms of Potomac incomes. It means she is making enough to pay her own bills. is able to put money towards nanny/daycare/school for the boys, can pay for her glam and her HW related expenses, break off her mama and them from time to time and Michael doesn't need to support her day-to-day living. When the show goes away what does she have - influencer/yoga instructor/see-through-legging Etsy business? It's going to be a hard hill to climb to get an additional quarter million dollars out of that annually. Michael knows that every HW dollar is one less dollar he has to pay, and her working means his total support for his family may end up being 1/2 the mortgage and 1/2 the kids' expenses - far less than if he divorces a woman with no real income. Trust me, Michael wants her on the show for as long as possible. He wants 529 plans set up, IRAs put in place and Ashley to have enough money to worry about tax shelters and charitable donations. He may threaten her, but that's only because she's not smart enough to know that he's better off with her making money than not.
  2. Unless you looked like younger Karen, in which case he'd invite you along.
  3. Okay, so you've got to start learning to speak Mia: "I've got an inheritance" = "Some old man who used to frequent the strip club gave/left me a stack of cash and I never told G because I wanted him to think he was the only one."
  4. My SO, who is not a documentary fan like me watched this over the holiday. His whole takeaway was, "So when I'm online talking to folks, they really are these sad, old cat ladies"? He was shocked that people would invest so much time and energy into "sleuthing".
  5. I don't remember any comments Wendy made other than to attempt to explain what Nneka's accusations were and why they were so harmful. I have never been to the continent, but I think that there is real irony in a discussion around voodoo/witchcraft being performed by an African woman, when one of the most lasting impacts of colonization by the English, Dutch, French and Spanish on Africa was the imprinting of Christianity on colonized countries. And it let's make some connections here - Ashley, who has personally profited from warmongering by her husband is somehow the one who brings this particular piece of foolishness to this group. Funny she's never talked about her time on the continent on camera, (and I'd be very interested to hear Wendy's take on Michael's investments in Africa) but somehow, she can slink her way around old stereotypical tropes about Africans engaging in witchcraft as a way to get back at their "enemies". It is an ugly insinuation, and one that is steeped in ignorance and classism, two things which Bravo, through the GEBs seem to be doubling down on.
  6. While I understand this, Chris is a husband, not a HW. I think it's harder for them to parlay their presence on tv into something unless they do it with their wives. And the more harebrained it is (thinking about the NJ husband's comedy/variety show) the more likely it is to be something Bravo goes for. And my guess is that Bravo isn't going to be supporting the husband's businesses unless they get a piece of them, the way they do the HW businesses. The only husbands that I can think of that have been successful in showing their businesses on a Bravo show are the M2M doctors. Other guys like Mauricio (BH) and Dr. Ayden (NJ) already have established businesses so they may show a cocktail party here or there, but only if it fits into the larger narrative of the show. I think Chris is moving like guy who has a business that doesn't have access to a tv show. He's done a ton of work already in coming up with the blend, setting up the business itself, figuring out how to mass produce and package it, and now he's got a local distribution partner. I don't really understand the narrative that he's sitting around the house doing nothing while Candiace is out big-balling.
  7. And this is why this story really indites not only the Murdaughs, but the entire community. Randolph and Libby went to a church, had neighbors, had extended family and no one said anything about her obituary appearing in the paper? No one said that this man, and this family are bad news? There was a similar discussion on True Sunlight where they talked about the fact that while people talked generally about the importance and prominence of the family, no one said Alec was a good man, or was upstanding. People knew exactly what this family was and what they were capable of. That young man said it the night of the boat crash - Paul was a Murdaugh and good luck with holding them accountable for anything.
  8. I forgot this. In Karen's defense, I am in a What's App chat group for work with folks that work in my industry in and out of the US. For some reason, whenever someone posts a picture on that chat, it gets downloaded to my camera roll automatically. I know I didn't set up the chat and I'm not sure how that happened, but I do know it was something I had to manually stop vs. a setting I chose (at least I don't think I chose it - none of my other What's App chats have that issue.) I didn't even realize it until I was scrolling through my camera roll and saying "When did I take a picture of a little white puppy and baby camping?" We all know Karen is technologically challenged. There is no way she knows how to fix this🤣🤣🤣
  9. So let me kick off this latest iteration of commentary here at Primetimer... Clearly (not-so) Sweet T, felt a way about Jackie's joke. And it strikes me that she's also intimidated by Jackie which is why she's never said anything (directly or indirectly) to her about it. At the same time, Greg and everyone else there is also clear that while Jackie may have been giving her best southern lady being a bitch impression, you never, ever, not ever call those ladies a bitch and especially not to their face. Sweet T has kicked off some intergenerational shit that she does not even begin to understand. Ladies like Jackie have TIME to get you straight and they will take each and every opportunity to put you in your place. As someone noted, Jackie is as old as or older than Sweet T's mama. She isn't going to take getting called a bitch to her face lightly, nor will she forget. She's 'gonna come for that girl church lady style, and woe unto Sweet T, because there isn't a curse word written yet that can be used to describe the hellfire and brimstone she's about to go through. Hell, I wouldn't put it past Jackie to grab that girl by her collar and take her out back to get a switch. I also just want to note, that as reckless as Heavenly's mouth is, she's never called Jackie out of her name, nor would she ever contemplate doing so...
  10. The swollen feet are a symptom of alcoholism or more directly of alcohol related liver disease. Foot pain with swelling is part of alcoholic neuropathy.
  11. I thought that the agreement was they each get a year rent free after graduation, then they have to start paying rent. Miles year starts from the day they move in and Michael's starts the day he graduates.
  12. I think you are referencing a pot filler. It actually is a faucet, designed so that someone doesn't have to carry a heavy pot of water from the sink to the stovetop. You just put your pot on the stove, pull the arm out and fill it up. I don't have a problem lifting or carrying, so it's not something I personally have ever had in a kitchen, but it's become the "in" thing in high-end kitchens. I always laugh when I see it in the HW kitchens for women I know do not know how to cook.
  13. I assumed that she called someone from production. One of the other things that Heather fast-screamed was that Monica's application for the show included the fact that she was Reality Von Tease. My guess was that she got the screenshots then called someone in production to ask them to verify that Monica did really apply saying that she was this account.
  14. I think you need to think about this a different way - The last few years with the pandemic, and the economic decline, Jeff's core business (flipping) has probably slowed significantly. He's diversified, with the radio show, this new Netflix show and his focus on smaller, partial renovations/interior refreshes which have allowed him to have money coming in from multiple sources that aren't dependent on one another. For example, he can continue to do radio so long as his ratings are high, he can continue to do Netflix as long as there are celebrity clients that don't mind having their remodels/refreshes shown on air, and he can continue to have his team focus on smaller interior design efforts, which are probably far more lucrative (he's no longer putting his own money at risk while he's holding homes during construction) and require less effort on his team's part. I rewatched the first few episodes of Flipping Out over the holiday and much of Jeff's model doesn't work any longer (he did not own a primary residence and simply moved from one flip to another while waiting to sell, he used different contractors at each flip so crews could be working on multiple projects at the same time, and he relied on a steady stream of flips each year to make the money work).
  15. If you've ever watched Last Chance U on Netfix, this happens a lot in both basketball and football. Kids get D1 scholarships and then either don't make the cut or underperform at D1 so they drop back to JC as a way to get lots of playing time, with other kids of similar talent, with the hope of keeping good grades and catching the eye of another D1 program as Juniors with 2-3 remaining years of eligibility. In Michael's case, I think this is probably related to ego. He could have gone into the transfer portal and gone to a D2 or D3 program, and Simone and Cecil could absolutely afford to pay - so even a scholarship wouldn't be an impediment to attending, but my guess is that he only wants to play D1.
  16. I agree and these statements from the article make this article and reporting seem very much suspect: Note the use of quotation marks. The author is trying hard not to slip into defamation territory. This directly contradicts the "arrested" comment earlier in the article as you can't be arrested for a crime and not be charged with that crime. Also, while the deputy might claim that she doesn't know Katheryn, how is it possible that this was pick up/drop off at the school where her kids attend, and not one other adult present (parents/staff) could identify her as the person that dropped off the kids? Someone else surely knows who she is.
  17. Meredith has perfected "HW 101 -How to start a rumor". You call someone off camera, tell them the dirt, point them in the direction of on-line gossip (most likely sourced from you) and then explain to your victim/accomplice that they need to bring it out on the show to "support/protect/defend their friend". Then while the cameras are rolling, you sit idly by checking your manicure and drinking your tequila/vodka/rum and pretending like you've never heard of any of this. Once the rumor is out there, you make constant mention of it on camera and use it to isolate/attack/disparage your castmate. Then you retire to your room for a lovely bath...
  18. Jackie's patient is a rapper known as DaBrat. She is famous because she was an early female artist in hip-hop (of that generation before female artists were expected to be naked and sexy before they could get put on), who for many years performed as a closeted lesbian. There is a whole other story with her but suffice to say, she is working like crazy because she's trying to pay off a $1,000,000 judgement against her stemming from a fight in a club. She's come out-out in the last ten or so years, after entering into a relationship with her partner Judy, who became a millionaire selling homemade hair care products on IG. They have their own reality show that airs on WE. As for the prenatal care, it is more complicated than race, but suffice to say that the poorer and less white you are, the higher your chances of dying as a result of your pregnancy. When you adjust for all other factors race definitely impacts your outcomes (wealthy black women die at higher rates than wealthy white women, etc.), and many medical schools are still not disabusing their students of long held mistruths about black patients (thicker skin, higher pain tolerance, earlier maturity, etc.). Jackie is well acquainted with all of those issues, and I think she's trying to make sure her patients are knowledgeable and can advocate for themselves when she is not around.
  19. I thought the last scene where Austen and Madison were off talking was really telling about this group. The conversation was actually a very adult discussion about Austin and his approach to dating with Madison, while the castmates stand at the bar creating a narrative that Austen and Madison were 30 seconds away from hooking up, with the requisite pearl clutching and teeth gnashing. Grow up people, they are pushing 40!!!
  20. Naomi was dating Craig during the height of his Adderall addiction. I'm sure that had A LOT to do with how much grief she gave him, as he was only getting high and hanging out with the SC guys. I believe sewing happened when he first started therapy, which was before (or contiguous with) rehab.
  21. She wants kids, and wants him in the position to raise them while she traipses around the country at BravoCon, reality tv meet-and-greets, and singing at small smokey pubs in Detroit, Atlanta and Memphis.
  22. My sister and I are two years apart. We got confirmed at the same time, as Wendy mentioned the kids have to go to classes every week for a couple months in advance of first communion. My parents didn't want to go through that twice so waited until the youngest was old enough so they could get it done at one time. I don't see anything strange about that.
  23. See, I think Wendy is crazy like a fox. Every season she has a storyline - starting a home goods line, opening a restaurant, the talk show. Each story requires her to do 1-2 planning discussions with her husband, 1-2 meetings/site visits/warehouse runs with another HW and perhaps a meetup or two with some investor/advisor/partner every season. That's five or six episodes worth of story arc which usually ends with a "will she pull this off". The season wraps and Wendy moves on. She hasn't spent any money on any of these items and most importantly, hasn't had to bring HWs shenanigans and tomfoolery to her real job at CNN, MSNBC or on any other cable network that may look down on the green-eyed bandits storming in to have a knock-down, drag out on their set. And Wendy lives to throw shade at another reunion. Y'all are thinking checkers, but Wendy's playing chess.
  24. So it looks like Quad is a "friend of" this season. I don't know that it's a good look to show up crashing your ex's fiancée's shower/bachelorette party, but a check is a check, right? Dr. Gregory looks like he may not come out of this with his reputation intact.
  25. I've been wondering in general, why none of the HWs have chosen the tactic of saying "My husband and I have an understanding. It's not up for discussion - next topic." Robyn would at least sound less crazy. But then again, maybe that would just paint a target on ole' Juan. Frankly, I don't understand why, if you are targeting a married dude to be a side piece for, you'd choose a guy who is mediocre at everything in life. Because he's just going to be mediocre at juggling you as well.
