  1. I agree. My guess is that production suggested chicken feet & necks or something not really mainstream "American" to Pedro's family, and then whispered voodoo suggestions to Chantel's family. Why else would someone jump from "you're serving chicken feet" to "Ermagerd! Voodoo!?"
  2. She has already admitted as much. Because then she wouldn't get to appear on TV & get her TLC paycheck! Duh!
  3. Can anyone here confirm if prison inmates in the UK actually wore ties, as depicted here? I'm American & far too young to have known about prison fashion in the 70s, but knowing that US prisons take away belts, shoelaces, basically anything that can be used to hang yourself or others seem such a cultural difference!
  4. Did anyone find Gloria's house familiar? When she answered the front door in her bathrobe, I had a flashback to young Molly's house from season 2.
  5. Thanks for this, MOVINGTARGETGAL! I just set my DVR!
  6. Did anyone else think the crates contained EVA from Wall-E?
  7. Oh, @MrSmith, you've REALLY got to get with the program. What you do is offer your proprietary code to a select set of other programmers, that they can turn around and sell to THEIR clients. Then you reap a percentage of their profits as well as your own! It's an MLM Inception!
  8. Yes, Snyder claimed to have been a provost at Stanford, but in reality he had an administrative job at a community college.
  9. I could be wrong, but I thought it was a drawing of Jesus, "Prince of Peace" done by Akiane.
  10. I agree with both of you, Lm2162 & gonecrackers. I just don't think Kody is willing to accept that the affair went as far as it did. He lies to himself about everything else -- polygamy is great, my wives love each other, I'm the best husband ever, and life is wonderful. He has 80+ years of marriage experience, for goodness' sake! What an idiot.
  11. That's just human nature. A woman would be much more upset over her man having an emotional affair. Basic sociology. Think about it -- a man wants to know that his woman's offspring are his, so he will be more upset by a woman having sex with another man. An emotional affair doesn't have that same threat. A woman needs the emotional support of a man to look after her, help with raising the children, making fire & hunting. His having a physical relationship with someone else isn't as threatening to her as an emotional affair that takes him away from supporting her. I am not a sociologist, but I did take a college course. :)
  12. This is confusing, ChristmasJones. Both S04E11 and S04E12 are dated 11/13 on this forum. They have different titles, but I'm not sure the titles are actually shown in the episode.
  13. I REALLY don't understand what the rush is for most of these couples. They must WALLOW in drama. I met my husband-to-be as a friend of a friend from England. Mr. H. was working in New Jersey on a B1-B2 Visa, temporarily, and my English friend was visiting the USA, so we popped in to visit Mr. H. Sparks flew & we ended up writing back and forth, phone calling (this was long before the interwebs days) and eventually visiting. I worked for an international airline at the time, which greatly helped facilitate these visits. It was YEARS before we considered getting serious. Have any of these couples ever considered that the objects of their affections were GU "Geographically Undesirable?" Apparently not. Once Mr. H. and I were serious enough to consider actually getting together, as in marriage, we had LOTS of discussions. Would he move here? Would I move there? What about our families? What kind of job could I get there? What could he get here? We didn't involve our families but they knew "something" was up with us. Omigosh, I think it was something like 10 YEARS before it happened, and look! We're both still alive! We didn't die of loneliness or cheat on each other or look for alternatives. We were committed to each other. I had worked in the same job capacity (airline reservations) for years, and figured that the best I'd do overseas would be retail clerk. He was a computer programmer with lots of potential. The the fact remains that we didn't do anything rash until we'd figured it out. We decided that he was more employable here in the states, his job was more portable, and, as it turns out, more lucrative here than there. We celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary next year. We still travel, host visitors from England, and visit his family, but we're based in the USA and happy with our decision. Because we took our time, weighed the positives & negatives, and made a rational decision. If these couples can't bear to be apart, have to sleep around because their SO isn't giving them enough attention (I"m looking at YOU, Nicole), have to lie to their families (That's YOU, Chantel), argue and have to sleep in their cars (Jorge), don't trust each other enough to believe them (Narkyia) then they're not ready to commit to each other. As the song goes, LET IT GO.
  14. I don't know about being able to stay out of the US longer than 6 months. Until the conditions are removed from the "green card," you have to apply for something called "advanced parole" to even be allowed to leave the country and maintain your conditional status. Yeah, that's what it's called - advanced PAROLE. My husband's father passed away before he received his "permanent" green card, and we STILL had to apply for advance parole and wait before we could leave the country. And upon return to the US, we had to sit at JFK airport in the deportation lounge while the personnel checked his papers. There were people in there who were handcuffed to the chairs! It's a nightmare!
  15. Yes! Poor Mo, nobody respects him and he DESERVES it, dammit, because he was born with a penis! That's how it works in Tunisia, isn't it? :)
  16. I have my Dish DVR set to record all "new" episodes of 90DF, so it picks up the Sunday night two-fer, then records the two episodes separately later in the week, and then a 20-minute "preview" on another day. I just delete the duplicates & carry on.
  17. But...but...but...they're SOULmates!
  18. Yeah, I don't understand the "poor me" whining. Get married by a justice of the peace, then plan a big ol' party. Invite your friends, family, have a reception. A wedding is just a formality. In fact, she & Pedro could have done that on the quiet, and then told her parents that he was staying & they were getting married. She's told enough lies that one more wouldn't hurt.
  19. And, of course, attempting to "scare him back" to you is ALWAYS a firm foundation to a relationship.
  20. How did Chantel qualify to bring Pedro over on a fiance visa without help from her parents? I smell SCRIPTED!
  21. Anybody know what Pedro did in the DR? Was he a student, did he have a job? I haven't heard or read what he did before coming to Atlanta.
  22. I missed this episode for this reason. I had my DVR set to record Masterpiece, all new episodes, from Downton Abbey through Hot Vicar and Indian Summers for YEARS, and NOW they change the name?!? Fortunately, when I went to make sure it would pick up Poldark, I noticed the name change & was able to catch it. Indian Summers changed in the middle of Series 2, and it doesn't look like this episode is scheduled to play again. :o( Oops. Edited to note that Grantchester wasn't Masterpiece, but Wallander was.
  23. I agree. She could have helped. Or maybe it was just edited to look like she sat there letting him flail.
  24. My husband is from England, has lived in the USA for 20 years, and STILL gets frustrated when shopping for groceries or anything else. His mantra is "too much choice." When recently shopping for a new television he was overwhelmed. He is used to maybe three choices, max: A basic model for the lowest price; a high-end model for those who wish to be extravagant; and a middle ground somewhere in between. I completely understand Alla's frustration. And now that I've read about Jungle Jim's, I think I'd be overwhelmed there, too!
  25. I feel I'm embarrassing myself here, but did anyone else notice that the car Jorge "bought" to bring Anfisa home from the airport is an Audi sports car, the same one that Christian Grey drives in "50 Shades of Grey?" Maybe Jorge's secret is that he wants to be a dom or has other subs.
