  1. Wonder Woman and Batman and that was two years ago, I think. The former was dropped in favor of The Three Stooges and the latter gets rotated out regularly as part of the Super Sci-Fi Saturday Night. Hopefully they both replace Buck Rogers and The Invaders.
  2. I made a mistake. It's not The Munsters that are coming to MeTV. They're just moving Gilligan's Island to the morning time slot that The Beverly Hillbillies had on weekday mornings. At least that'll mean no more "Three Hour Tour" crap on Sundays for a long while.
  3. I could give a fuck about Gone with the Wind. Well, there are some sequences that are amazing and Hattie MacDaniel is a dynamic queen, but it's mostly about two dysfunctional people in a terrible relationship and I don't need 2-in-a-half hours of that. I get plenty of that shit in real life.
  4. Looks like MeTV is bringing a bunch of superhero shows this October, no doubt for the Super Sci-Fi Saturday Night: Adventures of Superman Batman Wonder Woman (The DC Trinity! Yay!) Also, The Incredible Hulk Other things that are coming are That Girl, Sandford and Son, and The Munsters (on September 7th)
  5. With more people coming out as asexual or are either heterosexual or homosexual but are unable to find intimate companionship due to certain factors especially being on the Autism Spectrum coupled with more focus on "toxic masculinity" and the qualities for manhood, the whole premise of The 40 Year Old Virgin is downright offensive. I mean, not everyone is able to find a partner let alone have the ability to foster a relationship. Not everyone desires or are able to have sex with another person. So the whole thing about "sex = true manhood" or "if you don't have sex, you're an emotionally stunted loser" is infuriating to me.
  6. Saw The Breakfast Club yesterday. Liked it but holy cow, are there things that wouldn't fly today, especially in regards to Brian bringing a firearm to school, most everything that Bender does, and Mr. Vernon's treatment of Bender such as physically threatening him and locking him in the supply closet.
  7. Oh, that's not as unpopular as you think. Scores upon scores of people feel the same way. Unpopular opinion - I liked Under the Dome. Delightfully goofy show and Mike Vogel is very easy on the eyes.
  8. Another unpopular opinion of mine - Golden Girls is fine and all but I think I like Designing Women more. It's actually a pretty good show except for those last two seasons. And I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but Game of Thrones kind of sucks upon second viewing. Maybe it's because the finale soured me greatly on the series as a whole, but I simply don't like it anymore. True Blood's final season was flawed, but I still remember it and the series. And then there's Boardwalk Empire. Remember how people gushed over the show and now no one remembers it. I don't remember it and I liked the show. So my unpopular opinion is HBO shows are generally forgettable for the most part. There are few exceptions but they simply don't have substance on retrospect.
  9. Kiss Me Kate is on later today. Very underrated musical with a lot of great numbers: "Too Darn Hot", "We Open in Venice", "Thou Swell", "Brush Up Your Shakespeare".
  10. Never even considered the pandemic aspect. Julie going off with Pres to the where the Yellow Jack victims are being sent is heart wrenching because it might very well mean certain death for her. But she'll be with the man she loves in his final days. It's sad ending, but a beautiful kind of sadness.
  11. Watching Jezebel right now. God, that dress Bette Davis wears to the black and white ball is amazing.
  12. This is an unpopular opinion? Believe me, you are among friends. One of the worst, most insulting movies I've seen in my life.
  13. Well, I just finished watching this with my mom. We both blown away by Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon. Emmy nominations will be certain. If they don't give one to Lu Huang for playing Bebe, then the Emmy people are fools. I see bright futures ahead for Megan Scott and Lexi Underwood. Hopefully they get some awards, too. The actors and actress who played the other kids did great, too. Didn't recognize Joshua Jackson until his named popped up on the second episode and I was all like "what?" and then I saw him and I was "ahhh" and after this episode I was thinking "He'd make a good Philip Marlowe because he just exudes hardboildness". This was an amazing watch yet at times a frustrating watch, but it was fascinating seeing the facades of "I'm not a racist" crack so easily with the person who's saying that doing the cracking. But personas fell and the shadows came out (sorry, I've been playing Persona 4 so I've got Jung on the brain), and in Elena's case, her's came out screaming "YES, YOU ARE!!!". God, I didn't know Reese Witherspoon could scream like that. I wonder why Mia got out of the car and stood there. I doubt her parents wanted to see her. Maybe she just wanted a glimpse at them for closure? Wonder what Pearl will say to them? I hope Izzy never goes back to Elena or that horrible homophobic town. I hope Bill divorces Elena. I hope Brian tells everyone on campus what a racist skank Lexie is. I hope Bebe and Mae Ling find happiness in Canada. I hope Moody and Trip start using their real names. I hope a lot of things.
  14. True. I know about My Sharona because of that one scene in With Honors even though I've never seen the film and have no intention to. Here's an unpopular opinion - Joel Schumacher was an underrated director and his Batman movies weren't that bad. OK, Batman and Robin did suck and can't really be redeemed as camp but I chalk that up to poor casting and writing than directing. Unpopular opinion number 2 - I'd gladly take Schumacher's Batman films, including Batman and Robin, over whatever the hell DCEU is. I blame British Comic Book Writers (BCBW) for turning DC Comics so dark in the first place and many of them hate superheroes, thus we get DCEU's contemptible, nihilistic, (except for Shazam), and downright depressing versions of Superman and Batman. In short, the BCBW aesthetic is detrimental to what superheroes should be viewed as. That's why Marvel is beating them hand over fist.
  15. I didn't hate it but I only thought it was OK. I was more impressed with the dancers, actually. Unpopular film opinion - Randolph Scott was better than John Wayne.
  16. Alright, I take back what I said about The Music Man. The Shipoopi is awesomeness personified as is the opening rhythmic song on the train at the beginning and the song the townspeople sing when Harold Hill arrives. And "The Telephone Song" from Bye Bye Birdie is a great scene. They had The Scarlet Coat on today earlier this morning. It just isn't the same unless it's on the 4th of July. Strangers on a Train is on later. Definitely will watch. The murder at the amusement park is definitely one of the best scenes in film. And tonight they're honoring Jessica Tandy, which is good because she really was an underrated actress.
  17. Inspired by Lindsay Ellis' latest video, and I don't know how unpopular it is around here, I declare that Titanic is more than a good movie. It's a great movie. Great acting, great sets, great cinematography, great effects, and great direction. I never understood the hate or the asinine nitpicks. It was a nice love story. If there was a flaw, it's the fact that Rose married and later had children and grandchildren. It would have been better if she remained a spinster. She could have still gotten those photos taken of all the things she did without a husband and stuff.
  18. As much as I love Soap Dish, the whole revelation about Montana Moorehead would never fly now due to our growing understanding of trans people. If they ever did a musical version (because it ain't gettin' remade in a time where soap operas are near extinction), they'd have to change Montana's character entirely.
  19. I'm not happy that The Devil's Disciple and The Scarlet Coat aren't being shown today. Those are personal faves. Still, we've got 1776. Love it despite New York constantly abstaining. There's a point where John Hancock almost hits the New York representative with a flyswatter, and every year I hope he goes through with it. Also, "Mama, Look Sharp" and "Molasses to rum to slaves" never fail to give me chills. Never seen Yankee Doodle Dandy. I might this year. Afterwards, we have a bunch of musicals! I think I'll watch Bye Bye Birdie; not a fan of The Music Man (West Side Story was robbed) but the one I really want to see, On the Town, is on a 2 AM and I'll be asleep by then.
  20. Yes, yes, yes. My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, and Stagecoach are on tonight. But The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 is on TCM Underground tonight!
  21. Tonight's movie theme is all about horseys, apparently. Never cared for horse movies, myself. Props for Westerns. That's what I think of movie horses.
  22. Tonight are a bunch of feel good movies. I'm guessing they're showing them to lighten the mood what with the pandemic and all that. Pretty good line up: Singing in the Rain - Five'll get ya ten Lina Lamont was a huge inspiration for Harley Quinn. Annie - Loved this as a kid. Still have a soft spot for it. Carol Burnett should have gotten a Best Supporting Actress nomination, IMO. Top Hat - Never saw it. Probably won't be able to see it because I've been up since 5 AM and I need my sleep. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers - And they give Beauty and the Beast crap for "being about Stockholm Syndrome". Those idiots have never seen SBfSB. If you hear someone one going on about the false Beauty and the Beast Stockholm Syndrome, kidnap this person, tie them to a chair, and force them to watch SBfSB. Then ask them about their thoughts on Stockholm Syndrome. Gigi - Never seen it.
  23. Oh, Clash of the Titans, you delightfully camp cult classic. The movie should be called "Watch Lawrence Olivier sleepwalk through a film, Maggie Smith being restrained actingwise, and the glory that is a half naked Harry Hamlin". One thing that irks me about this movie is that Perseus' mother gets cut out quite early. The whole myth of Perseus actually revolves around her. It's because of her that Perseus goes on his big journey. Then again, this isn't supposed to be a 100% retelling of the story of Perseus and I love it regardless. Also, the Medusa and Kraken are amazing. Could have done without the annoying owl, though.
  24. Dammit Handmaid's Tale. You did goofy shit that annoyed me last season but damned if that teaser didn't rope me back in for more.
  25. The Nanny is the best sitcom to have debuted in the 90s. Also, Just Shoot Me is very underrated. Also The Handmaid's Tale is camp in its purest form, or rather has become such. Now if there was just a stealthy way to keyword it on IMDB in its ironic form.
