  1. MeTV's released it's Summer of Me schedule. We're getting Happy Days! Yay! And Mama's Family! Yay! We're also getting Laverne and Shirley. Boo! Bad enough Logo plows us up the tucus with that show for hours on end (it ain't camp, Logo) but now we got it on MeTV. https://metv.com/stories/happy-days-laverne-shirley-and-mamas-family-join-the-metv-schedule-this-summer I hope Happy Days sticks around. Ditto for Mama's Family on Sunday nights. No change in their drama schedule, meaning we're still getting the same Westerns during the day. What I wouldn't give for them to show The Untouchables and The Fugitive during the weekdays instead of at 3 in the morning Sunday nights.
  2. Yes!!! Pie in the puss! Suck, Schlafly! And it messed up her eye, too! Ha ha ha! And there are fractures happening the power dynamic. And then there's the dysfunctional Christmas family photo. Delicious. I find it telling that Phyllis thought what she was doing would net her political points with the Republicans and she'd be asked by them to run for congress. Yet she kept going, getting even in deeper with Lottie Beth Hobbs (who I found out died the same year as Schlafly did - 2016). I'm surprised how together Rosemary was in organizing a counterattack against the women's convention. Again, we see how fractured the women's movement was because of ego and stress. I did love Bella's take down of Phyllis' followers, though.
  3. I'm also a Betty lover. I thought January Jones did a good job with the character and loved her scenes with Kiernan Shipka. You could tell they had chemistry together. Also, I didn't mind Pete too much.
  4. I...don't like The Sopranos. Just the overall bleakness and edgyness gets to me and really affects my mental health in ways I just don't like. In fact, lots of HBO dramas give me that feeling.
  5. So has anyone tried or know of someone who has tried that Super Beets stuff?
  6. Jayne Mansfield > Marilyn Monroe. That is all.
  7. There she is. There's the Phyllis Schlafly everyone loathes and hates. The one who didn't just get in bed with The Devil but built the frame, stuffed the mattress, and put on the sheets. The one who created the Eagle Forum and spearheaded the formation of The Religious Right. Because of these actions, the Republican Party went from "The Party of Labor" to "The Party of GodReagan". And that bit in the confessional made me want to reach into the TV and smash her teeth in. Yes, it's not good to hit women, but Phyllis Schlafly should be an exception. Let's see her try to make that weird ass smile she makes when things don't go her way after that! I did like the reaction she had to that woman's "burn at the stake" comment. It shows how great an actress Cate Blanchett is. Never heard of Jill Ruckelshaus. I would like to know more about Jill Ruckelshaus. Bella Abzug threw an ashtray at her secretary?! I would have quit on the spot. Fuck the chocolates. And her reaction to those secretaries not being heard was callous. I'm going to be controversial here but why are the feminists movement leaders so highly regarded when we see them as being hypocritical, spiteful, inept, shallow, not as smart as they think they are, prejudiced, and flat out abusive. I would not put these women on pedestals. At least we know Schlafly is supposed to be the Villain Protagonist of the story, but the "good guys" aren't that good.
  8. I want Piper and his boyfriend to become regulars. Also, I want a spinoff with Frost and Ralph once this show ends.
  9. Hate to say it, but I just don't know what to make of this episode. Maybe it's because I don't know much about Brenda and Marc Fasteau. I do think Brenda ended her fling with Jules because she was afraid of how the rest of the movement would see her. Given Betty's views on homosexuals, she'd be pushing for Brenda to be kicked out rather than giving naysayers "proof" that the ERA movement is made up of "angry lesbians". Also, I was watching this episode with my mother and right off the bat things were awkward with that x-rated grotesque cheap ass "play". So Gloria Steinman had two lovers. Interesting. Don't anybody tell me how this is going to blow up, please. I wanna be surprised 😉 That scene with Phyllis and the guy who returned her son's wallet was actually a bit chilling. He knows where they live. Who's to say he won't show up again for a little more "gratuity" for returning that wallet. And as much as I didn't like the implication, I found her veiled "quitting smoking" story impressive. She didn't reject her son but she knows...and knows what damage will happen to her and her movement if he is found out to be a homosexual. And I could understand the anger Phyllis had at her husband. She wants his respect but being called "submissive" on national television was a huge blow to her and her intelligence. All she wants, ironically, is for intelligence to be respected but she'll never get that in the kind of world she's in. Can someone explain to me what was going on when Phyllis showed up at the office and found out Fred moved to another office? Was he demoted or something? Margaret leaving Ms. felt like an afterthought to me. Maybe because we didn't get a whole lot of time with her. She just seemed brushed aside. And what the hell was up with that lady with the megaphone?
  10. I was wondering when they were going to get to the lavender elephant in the room. Yeah, I'm not a Freidan fan. I'm less of a fan of hers after that "pedophiles" comment. I mean, it was probably written for dramatic effect, but I wouldn't put it past her to make such a comment. But we're finally getting to the hypocrisy of the ERA movement - the near total exclusion of black women and the total exclusion of lesbians. Despite what I think of Berry Friedan, I am in love with Tracy Ullman's performance of her. She'd better get an Emmy nomination...and win. And as much as Schlafly was not a good woman, she was smart. Her thinly veiled comments about Freidan's husband leaving her was Savage with a capital S. And I loved the shot of her when she realizes her son is gay. Just a look of serene dawning devastation.
  11. Not much of a Jane Russell fan except for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Her acting like Marilyn Monroe was a hoot. But these other movies of her just stink, I'm sorry to say.
  12. Is there a reason Judging Amy isn't on any streaming service or DVD? I mean, even Early Edition got DVD releases (though good luck trying to get them).
  13. Just curious but do cartoon characters count?
  14. Archer should have ended after season two. Season three was when things started to go downhill despite the train to Canada episode and "The Ellllllegant Dinner Party".
  15. Three episodes in my mom and I are all in. Loving the acting for the most part and the women are fascinating. Schlafly was not a good woman but she was smart and organized and knew how to mobilize. I was amazed how fast she was able to turn things around with the Southern women on the fly like that. Compare that with how the Women's Rights leaders are doing. They're constantly needling each other, bickering with each other, and being undermined by political forces they are unprepared to deal with. Were they really so politically unsavvy? I can't go further into this because I'm sure to put my foot in my mouth and I'm sure I will given I don't know the whole story behind this. I do find it fascinating that Schlafly hasn't even reached the national spotlight yet and the ERA is already floundering. To me, it's obvious that Schlafly didn't need to do much. Abzug, Steinman, and Friedan were fine at torpedoing things all by themselves.
  16. I have no desire to see The Good Place (despite me liking Kristin Bell and Ted Danson). It's right up there with Community with annoying over hyped, over rated, over gushed, and over troped sitcoms that aren't that damn popular.
  17. Wow, Kaia can't act.
  18. He wouldn't. He'd do everything to make sure Cartwright would live to face Gotham City "justice". Kate doesn't have that qualm, however. And I'm not going to condemn her for it. I mean, who wouldn't snap if they found out a psychopath was keeping a family member's head in the freezer, especially if it's your mother's.
  19. Well, Rachel Skarsten brought her A-Game this episode. Loved the part where Beth stopped being Beth and became Alice by flame broiling the old hag. Shouldn't have kept her mother's head in the fridge...or repeatedly scald her hands...or stole those earrings. Well, Mouse is loose now. Wonder how that's going to play out. Whoops. Kate killed someone. Don't know if this makes her an anti-hero considering she wasn't in costume at the time. Still, this is going to have ramifications. Wonder what those will be?
  20. Well, thanks for a great night, guys. It was fun. This cheered me up immensely.
  21. This woman is adorable :3 She just makes me happy
  22. And they're going to make their speeches! Screw the time!
  23. Now I have to see Parasite. And Joker. And Bombshell. And Little Women. And 1917. Good for Parasite, though. It's great when an underdog story happens in real life.
  24. It made a shit ton more money than all the nominated movies combined, that's for sure.
