    X-Men'97

Let me sum up the episode in two words - Nightmare. Fuel. I must say, Alyson Sealy-Smith does an amazing job voicing The Adversary you'd think it was someone else doing it. Oh, and someone important comes back. And we find out who is really behind the Sentinels.
  2. Just finished Breakfast at Tiffany's. The scenes at the end where Holly throws the cat out of the taxi and then is going all over the alleyway for him in tears is just gut wrenching. I have a cat and have had cats so I can't even fathom of having throw out anyone of them. It all works out in the end, though.
  3. Well, I watched Cat on a Hot Tin Roof last night. Loved it. Elizabeth Taylor is a amazing, you can see Paul Newman all ready rising as a star, and Burl Ives is just amazing as Big Daddy. The sequence with him and Paul Newman's character about why his friend/secret lover (implied but they couldn't out right say it) killed himself is great. Plus, there's Tennessee William's mastery of the Southern Gothic style that's captivating. And, God, how I wish I had the strength in me to call kids who annoy me "no necked monsters".
  4. Good for her. It was nice that she stepped up when no else would.
  5. Well, I saw Grey Gardens for the second time tonight. I can sympathize with being a shut-in who lives with a cantankerous old mother that you often have nasty fights with. I need to know though is did Jackie Kennedy ever find out what was happening with her aunt and cousin? If so, did she do anything about it?

    X-Men'97

That Beau DeMayo says "episode five" is just the warm up and episodes 8-10 are the big ones makes me fearful that we may be in store for one hell of a cliffhanger. 😟

    X-Men'97

You'll need it. Oh, and Ace of Base's "Happy Nation" gets used in the episode in a very amazing scene.

    X-Men'97

Jean was found in a flashback in the first part of "The Dark Phoenix Saga" on rock shores of Muir Island. Storm's story arc was based on her time in the mid-80s when she changed her look from "storm goddess" to "mohawk biker" and she had no powers. It had something to do with her becoming more ruthless during her fight with Callisto, which did not involve energy staffs like in the cartoon, but switchblade knives. Storm succeeds in stabbing Callisto to save the life of Kitty Pryde and the freedom of the X-Men. When Storm changes her look, Kitty, who looked up to Storm as a big sister type, is rather upset by this. Ironically, Kitty would go through a similar story arc where she develops an edge and a adopts a dark blue costume to reflect this. And Morph looks the way he does because that's how he looks like in the X-Men storyline "Age of Apocalypse". It fits what the producers concept of him being more gender fluid.

    X-Men'97

Pretty good episode. It was divided into two parts: one on Jubilee and Roberto and the other on Forge and Storm. I won't spoil much but this We do get some cute nods to Who's the Boss, A Different World, and Divorce Court that got a bit of a giggle out of me.
  12. Well, I just finished King of Kings. Jeffrey Hunter is my favorite actor to play Jesus. In fact, I think he was the best actor to play Jesus, no contest. Mom wants to see The Greatest Story Ever Told, though, as that's her favorite. It's almost four hours long, though, and will be on Spectrum's OnDemand service, and she'd like me to watch it with her. I suppose I should. I mean, I had her take me to see Avengers: Infinity War five times when I was in a serious bought of depression and that movie was the only thing cheering me up. I owe her much for that.

She wasn't. It was Cyclops who led a squad on X-Factor's headquarters, so Storm has no idea who Forge. I don't think his meeting Storm is a coincidence given that he's a government agent.

    X-Men'97

One thing that surprised me as Bishop leaving the team after the hype they built up of him joining. And never explained why he was stuck in the past in the first place. Oh, I'm liking how they're doing the opening credits, showing major scenes from the original series (The confrontation at the missile base from season one, Jean becoming the Dark Phoenix, Bishop going through time, Lilandra killing Jean to keep her from becoming the Dark Phoenix again). Good stuff. And we got to see Roberto again!

    X-Men'97

I'm not going to spoil much for this new episode except this - David Cronenberg was probably a big influence.

    X-Men'97

Saw the first two episodes last night and I won't spoil anything but I will say things are a lot kinetic and flashy now. Whenever someone uses their powers, from Cyclops using his optic blasts to Rogue using hers to drain someone of their vitality, there's lots of flashy energy effects. I will say this much, though - Episode two is very emotional and none of you are going to be prepared for what's going to happen. UPDATE: Alright, I will spoil one thing -
  20. OK, AFI has to do another special like the did in the 2000s to update their 100 top Heroes and Villains list and put Anton Chigurh in the top ten villains bracket. And that scene at the end of No Country for Old Men with Moss' wife and Anton is one of the saddest in film history. You know she's dead as soon as she opens the bedroom door. She does, too. She's a lamb, he's a wolf. The Big Bad Wolf. God, Javier Bardem truly earned that Oscar. They all did.
  21. I've said this before but it bears repeating but the best moment in To Kill a Mockingbird is Scout showing up at the jail and stopping a lynch mob through the pure innocence of a child. She didn't see these men as soon-to-be killers, but as men she sees often, sometimes everyday, in town and how nice they are to her. This causes the men to back down and leave in shame. Scout - one of the most underrated heroines in movie history.
  22. I keep thinking back to the opening text to The Harvey Girls and how they helped tame the West. I just trying to figure out in my mind how that would even be possible for waitresses to civilize the unruly frontier. I'm guessing Fred Harvey wouldn't do business with a town that was lawless or difficult for the law to control as that would have put the women who worked for his company in danger? Anyway, today Witness for the Prosecution was on. An almost perfect movie. Almost. That sequence in Germany goes on for a bit too long and drags the picture down slightly. Then we get to the trial and things pick up again. Surprised Marlene Dietrich and Tyrone Power didn't get Oscar nominations. I'm especially surprised with Marlene because she was batting a thousand in this picture.
  23. Auntie Mame is on now. I doubt it'll ever be remade, but if they did, who the hell could they get to play someone so vivacious and over the top as she was?
  24. Watching on On The Town right now and, Oooo, do Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Jules Munchin look nice in those sailor uniforms. Also, saw The Harvey Girls. Judy looked lovely in that Harvey Girl uniform. And she knew how to get steak, so more power to her.
