  1. Just sucks for us west coasters who have to go into social media hibernation so we won't get spoiled and then by the time I saw Sarah win, there's 12 pages in the forum. So yeah I would like for there to be a separate live thread.
  2. Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers <gag> and one of the "hustlers" is a bellhop <eyeroll> So now people are defined by a random job working for tips GTFOH. Just put some people on an island and let 'em go at it lol. Yay Sarah! Brad looked so miserable the whole reunion bwahahahaha
  3. I'm loving the lambasting of PC college campus life. I find it every bit as ridiculous as the show makes it out to be. But I do find the "dum white people" digs as disingenuous as they are unfunny. I'm glad Xan was back in a major way because I love her line readings. She does this combination of dry and monotone mixed with teenage angst and humiliation that cracks me up. She kind of reminds me of Kat Dennings. Tituss Burgess continues to be uniformly excellent, the whole cast really, not a weak link in the bunch, well except for Daveed Diggs (who I also don't enjoy on "Black-ish").
  4. That's where I heard that before! Wasn't that when Vanessa just showed up engaged or married and they had never met the guy? Folks were real impressed with Toni for that analogy. Next she'll be like "when you know better, you do better" and people's minds will be blown lol.
  5. I just watched on Netflix so...that was really the season finale or did more episodes air in Canada? It seemed very odd to have it end there. I never read the books or saw any other adaptations so I was surprised to see the backlash but from what I've read, I get that this is a very dark interpretation. This wouldn't normally be something on my radar but I was charmed by it and thought the young actress playing Anne was excellent. Fun fact: I did an IMDB search of the show and while looking through executive producer Moira Kelly-Beckett's profile I saw that in her acting days she played a character named Ann Shirley in an old TV show from 1990.
  6. Can Soledad O'Brien host every reunion for every show? I thought she did a great job. They jumped on Gerson way too much and that whole thing about how are you going to mentor kids if you didn't have this experience...ummm the same way he's been doing it and the same way Calvin was doing it prior to this smh. I was hoping they were about to bring Dashaun out before it was revealed that he was back in jail. They should have at least talked to one of the actual inmates. I'm always curious about their reactions. Jamie from the first season posted a couple of YouTube videos about it and I left a nice comment and she thanked me so that was kinda cool lol.
  7. Just dropping in to objectify Eric Wareheim in shorts. I'm a tall girl myself so I would totally be into TallBoys.com. He might not be much to look at in the face but those legs though ? ...nice gams boo lol.
  8. The Charleston bunch did this a lot in their first season (and Landon still does) and it wore thin until good ol' Katherine started acting a damn fool and the show finally got going. I'm not holding out the same hope here and I'll probably just pop my head in here to this forum to see if there's anything worth watching. The concept of casting people who went to school together could've been interesting if they played up that angle more like, former nerd turned hottie or one of them used to bully the other or something...maybe?
  9. Right?! I was just thinking while watching last night how big of an Aubry fan I was during her season and thought she was robbed of the win but here, in the words of Evelyn of Basketball Wives, she's a non-mf'n factor. She still gives good Twitter though so there's that.
  10. Same here. At the end I was thinking, "well its official, I'm team Sarah." She's made strong strategic moves while still managing to be relatively honest and well liked by the others. She spotted that advantage that Michaela missed at the challenge and managed to get the legacy. Good gameplay without putting a bullseye on her back. Hope she goes all the way.
  11. I started liking Brandon after he stood up for Kenya when Christopher Wiliams was charging her at Nene's pajama jammy jam. Its unfortunate he doesn't swing that way because I think he and Kenya are soulmates lol.
  12. I gasped when Coco's wig fell off during sex. Poor girl lol. And it was cute when he put on his wave cap in solidarity. I would love to see more interactions like that between Black men and women in film. I did call foul on her natural though. With the length and thickness she had naturally, she could achieve a similar look to her weave/wig by straightening her own hair (and it still looked like the actress was wearing a wig). As a Black woman who wears my hair natural I also know that it takes much more than just taking out the cornrows she had under her wig to get that bomb twist out she had.
  13. Yeah but...did the cops pull guns on anyone at the Blackface party? And yeah ditto on Reggie not noticing Joelle.
  14. But can we talk about "Dereca, Set Me Straight?" That had me howling. "I read one half of one of Iyanla Vanzant's books..." lol. This and "Defamation" the Scandal parody make me miss In Living Color. ILC would probably go in on Dear White People too.
  15. Which is precisely why I chose the name I post under lol
  16. True, I guess my point is that marriage on a whole is a huge step, every aspect of it. Moving in together and all the rest. The cherry picking and singling out sex as the thing that you won't rush into just seems like false modesty. As far as treating it like a drunken hookup, to me that ship's already sailed when you're standing at the altar talking about "Hi, my name is..." with a camera crew filming the whole thing. Like I said, go at your own pace and I'm not advocating that they should have sex if they don't want to. I just chuckle at the whole "I'm a nice girl and nice girls don't do that" vibe that comes across sometimes.
  17. And we're off! Liking these couples more than last season, we'll see how long that lasts. Watching the different dancing styles at all of the receptions reminded me of an old Dennis Miller joke about the time he went to a Black wedding ha! Poor Nate, his dad was acting up at the wedding and it looks like its mom's turn next from the previews. Once again the commentary from the matchmakers is completely obvious and useless. It always makes me roll my eyes when some of them act like sex is out of the question this soon as if getting MARRIED isn't. I mean go at your own pace but miss me with the modesty. Sex is a part of marriage (hopefully) not to mention something people do with strangers all the time. So you just legally bound yourself to this person, but have sex with them?! Oh no that is totally out of the question lol.
  18. This isn't related to any episode in particular just a general observation but it always make me chuckle when they find out their ancestors were prominent or did something great or were artistic then its like, "must be in the genes." But let them find out they were slaveowners or Nazis or something else considered shameful, then its, "that doesn't define me" lol. I mean it is what it is. I'd probably do the same but it is funny/predictable/...typical...yeah, typical, lets just leave it at that.
  19. I'm new to the show and currently binge-ing. Just looking through some past threads I see Gus is not well liked. I actually like Gus and like the relationship between him and Mickey but this ep broke the already strained credibility of women who are attracted to Gus. First the AT&T girl, then Mickey, Heidi (who I agree is absolutely gorgeous and actually has some meat on her bones), the bar girl seemed more believable but still, and now his incredibly wealthy boss! Come on, show. Even without the credits it would be clear that Paul Rust is the creator, writer, and executive producer lol. Hey if I had a show it would be a stream of Idris Elba's and Morris Chestnut's running through. The only female equivalent I can think of is My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I'd like to see more though. Can us average ladies get to see our fantasies of a bevy of hot guys being attracted to the regular, but interesting girl? Lena Dunham not withstanding.
  20. Oh ok, didn't catch that. I thought maybe his deal with Cory was to let Cory ring the bell first, didn't see the Shane deal. That's the smartest thing Nelson's ever done on the whole show.
  21. "Does anybody else think Zeke may be trans? Not that there's anything wrong with that, just a hunch. I'm usually a late poster so I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this already." I posted that back on the S33.02 thread so of course as soon as Jeff blurted that out I was like "I knew it!" which was then quickly followed by feeling horror for Zeke. I remember he also gravitated toward Bret as an older gay man and did the same with Jeff this time thinking they had that unspoken trust with each other. Not gonna lie, I do the same thing with other Black folks in similar situations. Damn Jeff! We were rooting for you! <Tyra voice> I was hoping he could pull out an Ozzy oust, but alas... Very interesting that someone who "should" be more sensitive to Zeke's plight used the word deceptive. Had that been Culpepper or Troyzan it would be easier to dismiss them in their "cishet white male privelege" but the discussion gets a little more prickly when that talk comes from someone in the LGBT community. Hopefully there'll be some thoughtful, nuanced tweets and articles about this coming forth in the next few days.
  22. I didn't notice Eden's absence at all until I came on this board lol. My apologies if this was already addressed (8 pages already good grief!) but I was actually impressed by PK's response when Andy asked something along the lines of if he was too involved in some of the ladies' arguments, or just being a protective husband, and he said it was probably about 50/50 and he stuck his nose where it didn't belong and his input wasn't appreciated. He went up a few points in my book for that, but I see that I may be in the minority on that one.
