When they talked about going to "the city" in the first season I made that Gary in my mind. They could also be close-ish to Lafayette / Purdue to keep the lab supplied with engineers. Sure that area is way more flat than Hawkins, but everything else about the town is pretty spot on for me (I grew up in rural southern Michigan).

I just keep referring to him as Rudy, especially since we're in Indiana.

I'm really excited for that, too. I love Trixie and I agree that she'll probably be set up for the win, but honestly nobody in this group is on the level of Chad or Alaska in my mind. The only one I could see rising to that level from recent years is maybe Courtney.

The gross guys in the cafe trading reviews of hookers actually mirrors a prostitution ring that was just busted in Seattle, so while revolting it was sadly realistic. http://projects.seattletimes.com/2017/eastside-prostitution-bust/ I finished the sixth episode on Tuesday and sat down last night to watch the "final" episode only to find out that was it! There were so many dumb loose ends I thought there was another one for sure there was another one. I agree with everyone that a lot of the basic ideas were interesting (physical exploitation of poor women, mentally fragile teen girl manipulated by old slimeball), but the plotholes were just too big to overlook. I think all of the actresses did a good job with what they had (even minor characters like the madame), but the male characters were such flat stereotypes I usually just wanted them off my screen so we could get back to the women.

I think it's about 4 years later.

I'm pretty stoked that BLL, VEEP (Best Comedy), and The Handmaid's Tale (Best Drama) are all shows centered around women.

I have absolutely no idea how building a dam and casino is supposed to be the solution for anything. Each would be a multi-year project on its own, and none of these people could so much as get a liquor license much less approval for a casino. I completely agree. I think the actors do a much better job than the Bryde kids overall.

I thought the crazy timelines were annoying and unnecessarily confusing for the sake of being "artistic." Also I don't think the agent adds much to the show as far as the story or an interesting character, so while I thought his backstory was compelling on its own I didn't really need it. Marty and Wendy are such great characters I would have preferred more time on their backstories, and maybe a hint of why Marty's partners thought they could pull one over on the cartel, or even more about the cartel boss and his wife.

I'm binging and up to this episode now, and the biggest nit (literally!) for me for the whole series is how they hang out outside at night when they would be swarmed by mosquitoes! Other than that I'm enjoying the show. Although does anyone know how the woman's death affects the money Marty took?

@film noire that's horrible, but not especially shocking. I thought it was pretty telling that all of the women they talked to who had worked with Sister Cathy were no longer nuns.

Perhaps the church is a hotbed for abusers, but sadly kids are abused by all kinds of people in many different situations. Growing up there was a huge scandal locally to me about a leader in a Baptist church who abused kids in the congregation. It wasn't national news because it was one person in one church. But when you can group abusers by an easily-defined organization like the Catholic church (or as @OtterMommy mentioned the Boy Scouts) it looks like a pattern. When you add in that the organization protects the offenders, in this case going right up to one of the most powerful men in the world, it's even more egregious.

This reunion was amazing. Easily better than the whole season. I always like seeing the queens look so polished since they have all the time and help they need, too. EXCEPT for Aja, who still looked like hammered shit. I don't get it. I know she's young and probably doesn't have the money some of the others do, but she just looks messy. The past few seasons I've gotten really bored at the end of the season, to the point where I often don't watch the actual finale. I think part of it is that the winner is usually not a surprise, the "characters" are gone, and there's a lot of filler. But I've been binging Unghh episodes, and it's made me realize that winning the crown itself has so little to do with success after the show. Sure a couple of the winners have been great, but look at Trixie. She's got a legit music career and she's super popular, but was very lackluster on the show. And now Valentina is getting invited to fashion shows where she's dressed by the designer beforehand. It just feels anticlimactic.

I feel like they never made it clear exactly what happened. I forgot who said it fairly early in the series that Cathy and Russell sort of requested living outside of the convent and working at a public school, but I honestly doubt that. I imagine they did make waves about Maskell, and the move was a compromise their superiors came up with. I'm sure the school wouldn't just let a well-liked, energetic teacher waltz off to the public sector.

I feel like the only reason they spent so much time on Koob as a suspect is because that's who the police had been pushing right after the murder, so to not go into it at all would have looked biased on the filmmakers' parts.

I was confused by him calling it so accurately and truthfully because he had been so enthusiastic about helping Dev hook up with her. Where was that insight when it started happening?

The Dev/Francesca relationship was my least favorite part of the season, too, and I think that comes down to two reasons. 1) I'm not single, so I can't relate to relationship angst, especially modern, app-fueled, intercontinental relationship angst. 2) I think Aziz doesn't do so well with dramatic material. It was well written but I think he personally just can't sell it as an actor. And I do think the actress playing Francesca did a good job, so that made it even odder. I really liked the Chef Jeff storyline. It's probably something a young, ambitious celebrity like Aziz actually worries about--agreeing to work with a peer you respect only to find out they're an asshole, then you're tied to them (*cough*Kanye*cough*).

@Kaboom 2.0 she's a presenter on either HSN or QVC; I forget which. I didn't recognize her name but when they showed her I remembered seeing her do makeup segments.

I've thought about that but it might be too late at this point maybe? Although I guess Carmen was brought back pretty late in the season.
