  1. Actually, he could have. He said that the only reason he didn't ask for one is that he didn't know it was an option, so it never occurred to him to ask for one. P.S. There IS a male couple competing on this year's Strictly Come Dancing, and they've been crushing the competition so far. They're considered heavy favorites for the finals and possibly even to win. And yes, they really ARE just that good!
  2. And history has been made, JoJo and Jenna are the first same-sex couple to make the finals on DWTS and only the second same-sex couple to make the finals on any version (a male couple on the Italian version had the distinction of being the FIRST same-sex couple to make the finals on any version a few years ago). Congratulations to them!
  3. No. That is a matter of viewer votes only. The judges' decision-making power ends with scoring the Freestyle in the Finals.
  4. Yes. Lifts are allowed in Argentine Tango. They're forbidden in Standard Tango.
  5. That's why Lena had to remind Kara that while Kara may possess godlike powers, she's not God and doesn't have the right to rob people of their their right to self-determination, nor does she have the responsibility nor even the capability of fixing everyone's problems for them.As she told Kara, "You can't save everyone." And remember, Kara herself said a few episodes ago that Kryptonian ethics forbid her from interfering in human history. Look at what almost happened when Zor-El disregarded that ethical standard and tried to solve climate change all by himself, to say nothing of what happened in this episode when Kara decided that the people of Earth could live without the sun at full power for a few months "for their own good." Both she and Clark realize that they walk a very thin line considering the scope of their powers and how easy it would be to cross over to the dark side if they ever let their emotions get the better of them. So Kara has now come to accept that this constant balancing act is one that she will have to perform for the rest of her life. And now, she can devote herself 24/7 to that balancing act without having the added complication of having to maintain a second life on top of it.
  6. According to Cody, the only reason he didn't ask for a male pro is that he didn't know that it WAS an option this season, so it simply never occurred to him to ask for one.
  7. Those "tricks" would also have to be believable. Remember, this is a gay man who would have requested a male partner if he had known that that was an option. That's why he has no chemistry with Cheryl -- he simply can't fake attraction to a woman. I honestly have to wonder whether he would be doing better with a male partner. Oh, and speaking of same-sex partnerships, JoJo and Jenna's Rumba in the dance-off? THAT is what I mean by "chemistry." I love that Jenna is willing to take risks like that in playing up the sexual energy, and JoJo has really blossomed into a dynamic, sexy young woman. I'd love to see her and Jenna go head-to-head with John and Johannes, the male couple competing on Strictly this year who have been crushing it there every week. I can't decide which of them would win!
  8. The Legends should at least understand that they now have a clue as to the time period they should be visiting in order to find out who's making these robots. That chip from the Hoover bot that they used to fix the time machine so that it wouldn't blow up? According to Gideon, it's not due to be invented until at least 2225. So they should now realize that they're dealing with early 23rd Century technology, and that's where and when they should go to find out where these bots keep coming from and who keeps making them and sending them to 1925. I believe that is how it's supposed to be pronounced in Welsh.
  9. What ending would that have been? Mon-El is still married to Saturn Girl in his own time period. And I never could see Kara just tossing everyone and everything she had ever known and loved aside to take up residence with him in 3021 even if there was a chance that she could break that marriage up. She would always feel that her overriding responsibility is to the people of her own time. As for finally taking Cat's advice and ditching the "Kara Danvers" identity that had been holding her back, that makes sense, since she has finally realized that she can't fix everyone's problems for them, nor does she need to. The scene where she was about to change to Supergirl just to rescue a cat out of a tree and was surprised to see that she didn't need to because the authorities had already figured out a solution told her that she does need to let people figure out things for themselves -- it was the whole point of her "empowerment" speech that made a lasting impression even 1,000 years later. That means that now, she only needs to step in now and then to help when they've already done everything they can do to solve the problem themselves. But she still needs to be there to step in when needed, and she can't do that in 3021, nor could she ever have done that as freely and fully as Kara Danvers as she now can as just Kara Zor-El.
  10. For the same reason that the last time Winn returned to the 21st Century from the future, he had already been married for two years and had an infant daughter. Time passed for him in the 31st Century just as it had passed for everyone else in the 21st Century. I followed along with the live Twitter feed, and it was fascinating to see the way the shippers went nuts thinking, "Oh, man, THEY'RE REALLY GOING TO GO THERE! YES!!" only to have the writers basically say "PSYCH -- they've always been inhabitants of the Friend Zone!" And I laughed and laughed, because I never ONCE got that closet lesbian vibe from either Kara or Lena. I was so gratified that they DIDN'T go there, because it truly would have felt inorganic to me. Not every same-sex friendship has to have a sexual component in order to make it believable.
  11. I was surprised to see her out of her usual Alice getup. She looked so different in a ponytail and a t-shirt and sweats that I didn't realize it was her at first!
  12. Matt is clearly having fun with his new character. I did recognize Matt under the makeup and also recognized his voice, but that's as far as it went. Dr. Davies already has me asking, "John who?" I'll be fascinated to get more into his backstory as the season progresses.
  13. In any event, I'm starting to see why Jada went to such extreme lengths to keep Ryan out of her life. Considering that Marquis evidently murdered her husband just for kicks and giggles, I can believe that she'd have been terrified of what he'd do to Ryan once he found out about Ryan's existence.
  14. Ah, so this is what the fuss on Twitter was about. Fans are apparently aghast over the fact that Nicole Kidman was cast as Lucy instead of Debra Messing.
  15. I'd bet a month's salary that this was one of Desi's favorite episodes because it gave him a chance to do something funny and physical and silly instead of always playing Lucy's straight man. He really was underrated as an actor and comedian in his own right.
  16. Nope. Wonder Woman hasn't had a secret identity since the 1986 reboot following Crisis on Infinite Earths. And nobody in the Legion of Super-Heroes has ever bothered with them. So Kara deciding to say goodbye to living a double life is neither unprecedented nor against DC superhero canon.
  17. Yes, he does. The show did an updated version of the original introduction a couple of episodes ago, and Kara specifically says that she was sent to Earth to watch over and protect her cousin, but because her pod got knocked off-course, she didn't arrive on Earth until after he had already grown up and become Superman, as we watched Clark changing into Superman. So yes, he's still around.
  18. Well, unless the timeline somehow gets reset again, Iris is due to get pregnant with Nora sometime in 2022.
  19. HIPPA doesn't work the way people think it does. What it does is prohibit a healthcare provider from divulging confidential patient health information to third parties who do not have a legitimate need to know such information. It does NOT prohibit a third party from asking the patient for this information directly.
  20. That should be interesting. I wonder how well the humor will translate.
  21. Yep. That's why she retired from skating at such a young age.
  22. So since the show is going to acknowledge Lucy's existence, does that mean that we might also get at least a mention of Kara at some point during Season 2? I know Melissa Benoist has said that she'd love to do a crossover if she were presented with a compelling enough story that would do Kara justice.
  23. One of the reasons I don't mind the protracted storyline of having the Legends stranded in 1925 is that they are ROCKING the classic Roaring 20s fashions. It's the one thing from that time period that I wish we could revive now that we're in a NEW "Roaring 20s!"
  24. We haven't heard anything about a wife and daughter for Frank in ANY of the timelines, have we?
  25. Heat vision and a mirror. It's also how Superman shaves.
