  1. Yikes. That was a hard fall for the South Korean skater!
  2. I somehow stumbled into the feed sans commentary, and I can't say that I miss one bit. The Swedish skater is very good. I felt bad for the Canadian and the Swiss, though.
  3. That's what I thought. Like everyone else, I was disappointed that he wasn't named directly to Team USA, but I'm sure that even he wishes that his Olympic debut wouldn't have to be under these circumstances if Vincent can't compete!
  4. Uh-oh. Who's left to compete if -- God forbid -- he can't on Tuesday?
  5. I'm watching the women's Moguls now, and I'm still wondering how they have their own hips, knees, and ankles with all that pounding!
  6. Clark presumably does; Lois presumably doesn't. That's why in the final episode of Crisis on Infinite Earths, Clark was surprised to learn that he had TWO kids, and Lois had no idea why he thought otherwise. However, in the first episode of that mini-series crossover, Clark told Lois that he'd always imagined that they'd have two kids by the point in their relationship that Jonathan was born (in Argo City, no less), and I was always surprised that everyone missed that particular anvil.
  7. Yeah, I watched the moguls, and all I could think about was how everyone would need hip and knee replacements before the age of 40.
  8. Maybe it's because I'm almost 61 (and am therefore very mindful of the value of keeping my hips, knees, and ankles intact for as long as possible), but half the time I was watching, I kept thinking about what a number those jumps must be doing on the athletes' joints.
  9. I'm pretty much ignoring the commentary except for Terry Gannon (who is really aging like a VERY fine wine!) and focusing on the skating.
  10. Some of those falls really looked brutal. It's a wonder there weren't some broken necks!
  11. Is it just me, or is Terry Gannon getting hotter and hotter with each passing year?
  12. Yes, I have to say that I was spectacularly underwhelmed by the lighting ceremony. And I agree about something else. Can we PLEASE knock it off with the political commentary for the next 16 days? The Olympics are supposed to transcend all that nonsense!
  13. We haven't even gotten to Tonga yet, Crashcourse. I do wonder who will be standing in for Pita, though.
  14. I wish they'd show the countries' names written in Pinyin (Roman alphabet) so I could learn the names in Mandarin. The only countries I know in that language are Canada, the US, England, Japan, and China.
  15. Just FYI, don't bother looking for Tonga's hot flag bearer, Pita Taufatofua, to be in the Opening Ceremony. He's sitting the Beijing Games out so he can concentrate on helping to rebuild Tonga after the volcano eruption and the tsunami. Godspeed, Pita, and hopefully, we'll see you in Paris in 2024!
  16. Just FYI, don't bother looking for Tonga's hot flag bearer, Pita Taufatofua, to be in the Opening Ceremony. He's sitting the Beijing Games out for a very good reason, and honestly, it's so like him to pass on participating this time so he can concentrate on helping to rebuild Tonga after the volcano eruption and the tsunami. Godspeed, Pita, and hopefully, we'll see you in Paris in 2024!
  17. Would you rather have new episodes competing against the Winter Olympics for half of February?
  18. I'm not sure why you think that line from Lana meant that Clark might be Sarah's father. Lana wasn't referring to physical strength. She was referring to Sarah's emotional strength and courage, something which Lana thinks that she herself lacks because she got so shaken up by her first taste of pushback from a potential voter because it caught her off-guard. Kyle is just as emotionally strong as Sarah is, so Lana could have been suggesting that Sarah gets her strength and courage from him, since she doesn't think that Sarah gets it from her (she's wrong about that, by the way. She's just as strong emotionally as they are; she just doesn't realize it yet!).
  19. Except that he's also inherited her impetuous streak bordering on recklessness that always gets her in trouble that Superman has to get her out of. That's what she's afraid of -- that Jon takes too much after her!
  20. Unless you're talking about being a few minutes younger than Jonathan, this comment makes no sense. Jordan and Jonathan are fraternal twins, so they're both 15.
  21. She overruled him in a different way. He ordered a chocolate donut, but she substituted a plain one because "chocolate makes you break out." And she only nagged Jan about putting her glasses on to read the menu.
  22. So if that episode were set in 2022, the family would be practicing their disco moves, and now I feel old
  23. And it would suck for those of us who can't afford a subscription to Netflix or HBO Max.
  24. True, but I was only responding to the idea that English spelling rules require vowels to be doubled in writing in order to show the length of the vowel in closed syllables, when English has no such spelling rule, although Dutch does with only one exception that I can recall off the top of my head.
  25. Nobody ever said that the English language was consistent. That's one of the things about it that drives non-native speakers crazy when they try to learn it!
