Kody can still have “his” family if he makes the effort— along with Robyn, that is. He didn’t seem to want to make much effort even before Christine left, either with her or Janelle and the non-Robyn kids. Most of the kids are over 18 now and can decide for themselves, Kody has a driver’s license as do the adult kids. The roads go both ways, as do phone connections. Christine hasn’t broken up the family. It was already broken.

I don’t know, are their finances jointly held? I can’t imagine Matt has put Caryn’s name on any of his assets— or vice-versa. Perhaps they have a joint bank account in which they each deposit money for shared expenses? If Caryn is not part owner of the farm, I could see how the adult children of Matt do not feel she should be part of the negotiation process, at least not in person. Matt could have consulted her when they were alone.

I can not imagine that Logan and Michelle arbitrarily sat Kody to Robyn rather than Janelle. I bet Logan asked his father where he’d like to sit. Kody likely didn’t want to be anywhere near Christine, and Logan (and Janelle) weren’t going to displace Christine in favor of Kody. As far as Kody getting “thrown into” plural marriage— hmmm, who “threw” him? Certainly not Meri. Christine the third wife; didn’t Kody realize what plural marriage was like by then? I think Kody is spouting some revisionist history to his kids.

I don’t understand Robyn’s assertion that Christine won’t really be divorced until she has sex with another man. I thought their beliefs meant no sex before marriage, and how can one get remarried if they aren’t technically divorced yet? I agree with others here that Christine showed grace and restraint during the with Kody and Robyn. I don’t know that I would’ve been able to do the same if someone called me a liar and tried to rewrite the history of my marriage. Christine may not be a model parent, but I do believe she tried to raise the kids the best she knew how given her own upbringing. I think many things built up over the years and finally something snapped.

Not just Chetna, but it seemed for a while every other bake featured cardamom or mango in a few seasons. Lavender and lemon had a moment, too. Many bakers have their “go-to” or signature flavors, but it’s good to see contestants use a variety of flavors when in a competition to show that they are well-rounded bakers.

I thought Aspyn graduated from UNLV? I remember seeing a pic of her in a red gown and a lei with “congratulations” on one of their instagrams.

I’m not a fan of floating islands nor mojitos (lime and mint complete with each other to my palate) so Syabira’s dish did not seem appealing to me. For me, the texture of pouring custard with a poached meringue is blah, but coating them in sanding sugar is too grainy. Sandro’s looked like the dessert that I’d try over any of them. Paul loves his “coostid” so I guess Syabira’s cake was the best and filled the brief, but that’s a little too custard-y for me. I agree with others here that custard-filled buns or pastries would have been better challenges.

I think they’re talking about Janelle and Meri’s brother having been legally married and divorced.
-
Or why wasn’t it “Kody and Christine’s” money? They were still spiritually married at that point, wouldn’t Kody’s portion of the down payment be also partially Christine’s, at least in theory? And, as has been said, if they “gave” the money as a gift and not a loan, Christine doesn’t owe them anything, imo. Kody really came off as a narcissistic flaming sack of shit this episode.

They both have been wearing simple gold bands on their left ring fingers for some time. I have questioned before as to whether they legally married or had some kind of commitment ceremony, but haven't seen anything.

As far as I know, one can’t copyright titles, and as mentioned, there is basically no content to the book— so a lawsuit is unlikely.

I guess the fall weather and campfires or fire pits are more likely to go together, hence the s’mores as a challenge? It’s kind of a stretch, but I can see the logic. It was a good test of three different things—biscuits, marshmallows and ganache. Syabira deserved her SB this week, and I was sorry to see Dawn go, although it was her time. How did she make an apple cake with two layers of apples yet Paul said he wasn’t getting apple flavor? And as much as I like Janusz, he’d better do something besides a drip decoration in future cakes if he wants to impress the judges.

I think Christine was never a member of the LDS, but Apostolic United Brethren church (AUB), a fundamentalist offshoot started by Rulon Allred, Christine’s grandfather. Rulon, btw was murdered by a rival fundamentalist group. He also had at least 48 children, so Christine’s extended family must be huge.

Kody is so full of shit, though. He didn’t necessarily have to be gone 6-8 weeks to have been there at least for the surgery day and day after. Yes, he needed to quarantine and be tested, but that would have been two weeks, only because Ysabel was having surgery in NJ. Then when he got home, a test and 10 days quarantine before back to Robyn’s (aka home) —so about 4 1/2 weeks . He wasn’t going to gun shows, right? Everything else could’ve been done remotely. Even FaceTiming the little precious ones. Janelle and Meri weren’t getting visits from him during this time, either. So Robyn should have understood explained to Sol, who was old enough to get it. Yes, it would’ve been hard on him and Ariella, but they would adjust. If he had wanted to go to Ysabel’s major surgery, he would have.

I don’t think I would stay at Meri’s B&B for free— much less thousands for basically a sleepover with a z list reality star. And this is coming from someone who has never been to Utah but would love to go.

I have watched the show, and I don’t think it’s fair to assume that the grandchildren care more for grandpa’s girlfriend than they do for their grandmother. Ymmv, and agree to disagree.

Wait, how do you know “those kids were more fond of Caryn than they ever were of Amy?” That is just conjecture. The kids may have liked her as a babysitter— but just as we don’t know what Caryn said, we don’t know how the children feel.

Sorry, but Leon does look as pregnant as their sister Maddie in that pic, imo. Not that I would ever assume or ask that anyone is pregnant, though.

First he said “Hi, Mom” and when Dawn said she’s not much older than him, Paul backpedaled. He may have meant it innocently enough, but it’s just not something one says to a woman of a certain age (unless she is your mother or a mother-figure).
-
I wonder if Syabira could’ve used a watermelon reduction in her showstopper? I remember Nadiya doing a soda pop reduction syrup cheesecake in one of her showstoppers (she made it at home and brought it in). Paul had no business calling Dawn “mom”. He is 56 years old and she is 60. He had to know that it wouldn’t be received warmly.
-
I agree that it would be better to bring in a guest judge— every week, that is. Paul’s say has entirely too much weight now, imo. Mary Berry used to stand up to him more than Prue does, although she has gotten stronger in her opinions in recent seasons.

Many school districts have online sites where the students can get assignments and send them back so not to miss too much work.

Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)
Adiba replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Now that Christine has left and Meri is basically separated from Kody, I think Janelle holds a little more power in the family than before. If Janelle leaves, the last vestiges of the “principle” leave. Kody could then no longer have the appearance of polygamy while living monogamy. Kody can barely tolerate Meri— he no longer even calls her to talk, much less visit her alone. Even if Janelle left, Meri’s status in the family would not “move up,” imo. Kody would then be left with only one wife, Robyn and the show would be dead. So I think Janelle can do whatever she wants and Kody will put up with it. -

Was it the angle of the shot, or did Syabira’s tortillas look a little too burnt? I know tortillas have some color on them, and I don’t mind a few charred spots, but hers looked overdone to me. For the technical, they could’ve had the bakers make six corn and six flour tortillas and judged solely on that, imo. Or, they could’ve had them bake two types of Mexican cookies. Maybe Paul just wanted to show off his taco recipe and have something to eat for lunch. Tres leches cakes should not be tiered— I think that’s why many of the bakers’ cakes were not soaked through so that they wouldn’t collapse.
