Forgot to add that I loved it when Will was passing out party hats to everyone, including the crew. I think he has a lot of potential; he just has to grow (and be directed) into it. He definitely seems to have a big heart.

Another Bay Area resident here. I am 90 miles from the fires and the smoke is visible with a strong smell even here (South Bay). This is a heartbreaking situation.

Halloween Baking Championship - General Discussion

I assumed it was just the shape but it would have been nice if he had explained. -
I love Zoey. I think she is adorable. I'm with you and Zoey @walnutqueen: "huh. a baby. Terrific. Oh, look! A kitty!!" (or doggie, in this case). I did like seeing Will so nurturing toward the baby. I hope he is able to sustain that, rather than listening to Bill with his insistence that men are afraid to handle babies. The cake-making grossed me out completely. Serious question: when they were getting into the rental vehicle at the airport, I really noticed how small Jen is. Wouldn't it be safer for her to have a booster seat? I know the laws around boosters (at least in California) are height- and weight-based. I get that it might feel a bit demeaning but I wonder about her safety if the airbag were to go off.

Sandra Lee In The Media

Hello, shrikes! SLop's Haunted Halloween is re-running next Saturday. Set your DVRs if you need a fix of her HAlloween insanity (this is not her best but is better than nothing). -
This episode was really obnoxious. I hope they tone it down for the finale.

I just finished watching this. Jana and how she was relating to Laura reminded me of my relationship with one of my exes. She was not out to her parents. We went to lunch with them. Without verbal discussion, we swapped the items from our salads from hers to mine and vice versa (she liked tomatoes, I liked onions, whatever). Then we looked at each other like, "oh, shit." (Her parents did not notice because it was not what they were looking for.) That was the level of interaction I thought I saw between Jana and Laura. For her sake, I hope I am right.

That is way too sophisticated a question for Duggars. What is this "cooking" to which you refer?

Come sit by me, @chessiegal. I don't like the way makeup feels or looks on me, my husband doesn't like it, my eyes are too sensitive for eye makeup. I worked for more than 20 years in biotech where you could not go into the plant with crap on your face. People feel differently about this, I know, but if you don't like my normal non-painted face, sorry not sorry.

Thank you! I could not figure out why I remembered him and I forgot to look him up. Ron Ben-Israel is the best. -
No comments on the entitled couple in Destin, Florida? I missed what he did for a living, other than make tons of money, obviously. They were picky about every. single. thing. "Oh, is this the only dining table? It's so smaaaaaaalll."

There was no point whatsoever to the first part of this episode with the assembly line, was there? Other than terrible "comedy" and a huge waste of food? This episode was just boring and bad. And not bad in a good hate-watch way. Just unwatchable.

I saw a bit of Daphne and Dr. Charlatan on Rachael Ray yesterday and a bit of them on Today this morning. Looks like she may be returning to her (mostly unscientific) health claims about food like her season 1 schtick, and riding Daddy's coattails again, to boot. I wonder if that decision preceded or followed her departure from The Chew.

Just watched the runway again and have a few thoughts. Go away, Shawn. Batani made a skirt that just did not fit. Those horizontal wrinkles were a disaster. Kenya's look: I had a green pants suit that I loved. Twenty years ago. Kentaru is adorable. Amy at some point is going to have to do a piece in something other than a dark solid color if she is going to stay in. I think she has skills; I just think her work reads boring. Brandon is going to have to step away from the dangling straps or get branded a one-way monkey.

Another thought: all the dresses picked by Miss Renee looked too mature for Joy, IMHO. The only one that was youthful enough was the polka dotted one. I'm not sure why Joy rejected that one, but then, neither is she. The one she chose would have looked much better if they had left some of the neckline open. I think a V-neck would be good for Joy, since she appears boxier in these dresses than she really is (I think because she is busty and not very tall). The edits made to the dress made it look more like a straight jacket to me. Sadly, that may be appropriate for this marriage.

Okay, just finished watching this shitshow. When the little girls melted down in the bridal shop, "Miss Renee" was comforting Pwecious Miracle Josie. Where was MOTY? The sing-song voices these grown women adopt make me want to slap them silly. Between Miss Renee's condescending syrupy breathiness and MEchelle's, "it's your Joy-Buddy" I could not be around these people for more than five minutes without a flask. Or six. I felt a little sorry for Joy in the shopping scene. She has never been allowed to make any decisions for herself at all. Shared clothes, husband selected by her father, rules of conduct dictated by her father--even down to how many seconds she is allowed to hug her finace. It's no wonder she was paralyzed in the face of so many choices. I did see a little spark when she was talking to Austin about the renovation work. She is really being shoehorned into a role that does not seem to suit her. I worry for her mental health.

Living in the TTH with that stupid intercom looks to have all the warmth of living in an airport. And Duggar time exists because you morons are all lazy, entitled, and self-centered. It is not cute.

I never saw Reba but I agree with you. I enjoyed Vivica and dislike Melissa more every minute of every show. She is playing such an over-the-top camera whore and clueless bimbo and I do not find it enjoyable at all. So she'll probably win this thing.

I think this is a very good point. Being in a new country, in a different time zone, in completely unfamiliar surroundings, and with a full camera crew filming you would be overwhelming for anyone. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment and hope for better in the future. Will clanging that cannon down was appalling, however. I think a discussion with the kids about boundaries before they went into the castle could have been to everyone's benefit. It seemed like it was presented to the kids like a Disney venue (the princess dress, for example). That may not have been the whole story but it would rather set the kids up to fail. Zoey is adorable and overall I enjoyed watching the interaction between Zoey and Will.

Dr Oz is snake-oil salesman, plain and simple. He may be a good surgeon, but that is counter to the anti-science bullshit that he generally peddles. -

@Jynnan tonnix, we should chat in the prayer closet sometime. We moved my dad into a memory care facility a couple of months ago that costs nearly all his income per month and have his house and personal property on the market as we speak. It sucks to have to figure out a safety net for your parent on the fly. We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion. -
"Go fuck thyself" goes down as one of my most favorite phrases ever. Emphasis added. Putting it this clearly creeps me out even more than the Duggars already creep me out, and that's saying something. As if your parents have any f*&%ing business what you do sexually.

So they're basically ice? I can get behind that assessment. Now only if we could melt some of them...
