Excellent call. All the chefs were likeable but Shatner was godawful. It actually may have been the same episode repackaged. They had little bits of Alton explaining a challenge to Shatner after each round. I think that may have been what marked it as new.
-
I somehow missed it the first time. Should have stayed missed.

I loved seeing Kent again. FN can use him as often as they want. Someone I never want to see again on the network, though, is William Shatner. I thought he was a terrible judge: full of himself and loving the sound of his own voice too much to deliver critiques that made any sense. Don't get me wrong; I'm a trekker. No no more Shatner as a judge. Ever.

I agree wholeheartedly with this: the admiration of her tenacity, the horror of her food, and the love of my fellow shrikes.

S05.E01: Joy's Wedding/S05.E02: Triple Date Night

Was I the only one who, when whoever it was called for "all the single ladies" to line up for the bouquet toss, would have paid money for them to break out in some choreographed Beyoncé? -
I thought this show was over but now FN is airing a few episodes (last week and this week, anyway). I guess they had a few left that had not been aired?

S05.E01: Joy's Wedding/S05.E02: Triple Date Night

Random thoughts: The hay was horrific. If you want to get married in a barn, do that. Don't try to turn a church into a barn. Much has already been said or Boob's not buttoning his suit before walking down the aisle and I could not agree more. I also noticed that in the shot from the back, his jacket looked like it had not been pressed in quite some time. I think something is wrong in Jill and Derrick's marriage. When the couples were pontificating about how to have a successful marriage, I noticed they harped a lot on having hard times and how to get through them. Jill had a TH about how challenging the first part of their marriage was, too. I think they're out of synch, not happy, and their crappy upbringing allows them to do nothing about it but pray. This wedding was totally phoned in. The group hug prayer with the parents was utterly bizarre. Rare positive thought: it seems like Ben has an actual personality. I think he and Jessa are actually pretty well-matched. If only they had been allowed to have educations and goals. Still finiishing the shitshow so I may have more thoughts to come. Three hours of these morons is way too long. One more thought: John David has never learned how to conduct. He was just randomly waving his arms. You're supposed to show the downbeat, nimrod. ETA: Sorry, two hours. It only felt like more. -

Thanks for the heads up! My TiVo did not realize it was new, either. -
The ampersand looks like a butt to me. Maybe what they are thinking of lately? I'll see myself to the prayer closet.

That's what I saw, too. The woman Matthew ran into nearly collided with another contestant, as well. I think she does not know how to handle herself in a kitchen. Could not agree more on Irvine. He has no ethics, very little talent, and he's an unattractive shouty muscle-bound pinhead.
-
This bugged me, too. I'm a woman and one of the things I did sometimes as a teen was mow the lawn. My vagina never got in the way.

Robert m&@herf$&king Irvine? Seriously? Just STOP with him, FN.

What is it with these hillbillies and children STANDING on kitchen counters? That disgusts me. -

I read that she was born via surrogate so likely biologically one of theirs. -
It was the intense upper Midwestern accent (and I'm from the Midwest but do not talk like that!) and the squeaking. They were awful and just kept repeating the same stupid wants (the dining room ! no dining room! sports memorabilia!). Grow out of your stereotypes, people. I did not like either of them.

I feel so sad for Joy that this is the only thing to which she can ever aspire. You should not have to think the greatest achievement of your life is marrying some nimrod that your dad picks out for your when you are nineteen. That said, I feel this one a bit personally because when I was nineteen I married my (emotionally abusive) high school boyfriend to get out of my parents' house. Took four months before I left him to have my own life. The thing that really resonates with me, though, is that, looking and thinking back, the dress I wore was all lace. Which was totally not me. And I wore a stupid hat with a veil (hey, it was the early 80s). I feel like my subconscious was sending up frantic messages to wave off! And I just did not hear them. That is what I see when I look at Joy, former tomboy now in an all-lace girly-girl dress. I both hope I am wrong and hope I am right. ETA Of course I do not hope she is in an emotionally abusive relationship (or any other kind of abusive relationship), just that if her subconscious is trying to send her messages, she is able to hear them sooner rather than later.

Marry me, please. ETA: My husband points out that the Eleanor Roosevelt one looks like Ringo Starr in drag. I'm still going with your description even though I do not think he is wrong. -
I wanted both of the last two girls in last night's show to win. Cassidy is so freaking adorable. I liked the young woman who won, too, though.

I love borscht and the version I make is hot, as well as vegetarian. She would go on endlessly about how menfolk can't eat no vegetarian food.

Is there anything to say to this other than, "fucking assholes!!! You had ONE job and that was to protect your children and you are miserable failures at that and as human beings." ETA the Duggars literally had one job, since they eschew working like the rest of us. -
I start the first chimney of charcoal in the grill and can start another one on a pile of concrete blocks I keep adjacent to the grill.

Me, too. One of the reasons this show makes me happy is because I am happy to see Nate happy after he went through losing his partner in the Thailand tsunami in 2004 (wow--I guess I've been following his work for a while). -
Guilianna reminds me of a praying mantis. All gangly bony limbs. I thought Lea Michele was a good addition, actually. Maybe she could replace NeNe.
-
Looks like Jessa to me, too. Weird. I don't generally think of Jessa and Jinger looking alike at all.

I thought the San Jose couple should have bought the first home if they were interested in building equity. They were among the worst actors we've seen on this show. I'm sure I would also be terrible at pretending I had not already selected a house so I felt for them in that regard.
