  1. Don't forget A Man and His Fast Food (with pics of Jer's gaping maw included!)
  2. I sure wish I'd seen those comments! Jill will never look at her part in why she received responses like that. She'll just cling to her new boundaries book and assume she's being persecuted for her devotion to serving Jesus.
  3. @lookeyloo- I'm so glad the kind neighbor made a point of telling you how much he liked your sweet son! Your story brought tears to my eyes too! What a lovely example of someone saying just the right thing! @Scarlett45- your story about Godmother's card was so touching. Sometimes I think we see something or speak to someone at just the right time to touch our heart with a sweet memory of our dear loved one!
  4. I bet if Amy wasn't "famous" she'd still be an eternal victim. We just wouldn't have to hear about it.
  5. I think Jill did the filter thing expecting that everyone would say how much Janessa looks like her. Jill's ego knows no bounds.
  6. Thank you so much, @lookeyloo and all of you with your wise input. It helps to know that a detailed response isn't expected (or wanted in some cases). I guess the question bothers me because it's like people expect grieving to move along some imaginary timeline where one day you are "over it" which doesn't happen. The truth is that it's a life sentence to live without a loved one and the pain varies. Very few want to hear about that! We're private people and while I appreciate that people are acknowledging the loss, I really don't want to respond in depth. I have a few people in my life who are also experiencing the loss of a loved one and they get it. I'm also not comfortable talking about my husband's pain to others, especially those who don't know him well. In those situations, I will stick to simple, standard responses going forward. ♥️
  7. I could use some advice. People are always asking me how my husband is doing, after his sister passed away last month. I never know what to reply. I usually just say something like "He's sad, but he's doing okay". I know people ask out of concern, but I'd like to answer in such a way that isn't too personal. I don't want to describe how he's grieving. Honestly, nothing has changed that much in our lives. They hadn't seen each other in 15 years, but they were friendly towards one another on Facebook. He's supportive of his other sister who we do see, but he's not the type to talk a lot about his feelings. And I'm not the type to discuss his personal feelings with others. I honestly don't know what exactly people want to hear when they ask this question.
  8. I wouldn't join Jill's Plexus downline if it was the last job on earth! I see enough video of Jill, thank you very much!
  9. I'm amazed that Erin agreed to this move. I don't think it will last very long, but time will tell.
  10. I was just imagining Jill's reaction if 2-3 kids down the line, Kaylee & Jonathan decide to leave the traveling grift show, sell their house that has become too small for their growing family and move near his family for some opportunity. Jill would lay such a guilt trip on them if that were to happen. I doubt that either of them has the courage to stand up to her, so it will probably never come up, but it would be the only way they could lead their own lives.
  11. We headed out for a walk today. I almost fell crossing the driveway. The street was a bit better, but still with random icy patches. I decided to go home and finish my walk indoors. I do not want to fall!
  12. If it's filled with random capitalizations, we would know BME had a hand in writing his paper. I don't know if his "professors" are wise to Jilldo's writing style yet.
  13. We got a dusting of snow in northern Illinois last night. This morning I'm going to breakfast with my friend who just recovered from Covid. It will be nice to catch up. I haven't seen her since the week before Christmas. Please send healing vibes for my sister's doggo. He suddenly started smelling terrible (like vomit, she said) and that usually points to a skin issue. He'll be seen today so hopefully they'll find out what can be done. I think he's about 10, a sweet lab. They acquired him in a sad story when he was about two. Her hubby was hunting with the dog's previous owner, when that guy (in his 50s) suddenly dropped dead of cardiac arrest. My poor bil had to fish out his friend's cell phone and call for help and try to perform cpr in the middle of nowhere until help arrived. The dog is the sweetest thing who has brought them so much joy. He's a healthy pup normally, but he does show signs of aging, like arthritis. I hope all small talkers stay safe from bad weather and have a beautiful Thursday!
  14. The straw being upside down indicates that Amy was able to get the "glued on" cap off. Hmmm.
  15. @Scarlett45- what a day you had! I'm so sorry the tv broke down at the worst time. But I'm amazed at how smoothly you handled everything. How wonderful to have friends who understand and jump in to help. I'm so happy that your Momma is home and feeling better. God bless the caregivers of the world - you all do miracles! ❤️
  16. True, but a police officer, not knowing how special and above following rules the Rods are, would ask to see proof of insurance anyway!
  17. Happy New Year, @oliviabensonand all Small Talkers! May 2023 bring us all peace and good health. Thanks @Mindthinkrand all Small Talkers for the anniversary wishes! It's been quite a year! I still have quite a few gifts in my living room despite the fact that Christmas is all put away. We were thwarted in delivering gifts to our grandkids up North due to illness at their house. With 5 kids, someone is always sick, it seems. Hopefully we'll get those delivered soon.
  18. Ok, this made me lol. The power of prayer is working! Glad you got some peace from the partiers, @Absolom!
  19. I think Katey is pretty likeable. That said, I wish she'd had a chance at a more normal life. She seems to be making the most of the Duggar life she's chosen. Not sure how much choice she had regarding who she married.
  20. We got new phones that included a subscription to Apple TV, so I just got all caught up on this show. What a terrible finale this was! As I watched Alex melt down for the millionth time, but this time on air, I just couldn't believe her unprofessional ramblings. I imagined if at this point in Covid, I was watching her and came to the conclusion that I'd have turned that nonsense off! How was that helpful to anyone? Yet, Chip was nodding as if her every utterance was brilliant. I think the writers think they are telling a totally different story than we are seeing! That said, I'll probably watch Season 3, but I'm not exactly invested in this show. I'm not waiting with bated breath!
  21. @Scarlett45- it sounds like your Mom is in good hands. I hope she's feeling better soon. What a crazy holiday you've had, with all you have going on. It's good news for the new year that your sister will have a favorite caregiver more often. Hang in there and try to take some time for yourself to regroup. ♥️
  22. It's great to know that there will be no more go to me fund requests coming from Jill, since her Daddy can afford to take a crowd like that out to dinner. I kid, of course! Jill and Dave need vacations, so the funding requests will keep coming. I hate how she was bugging Ma Turtleneck in this stupid video. That poor woman looks like she only has use of her left arm. I hope their visit is over soon and they can get back to their more peaceful home. I'm glad the Rodlets got a filling meal.
  23. I think that's a strong possibility. They love their grandchildren and can see that they are needed as reliable caregivers. Clearly C&E are not able to handle adulting.
