  1. Sometimes it seems "they" like you enough to nominate you, including multiple times, but not enough to actually give you the win.
  2. The lack of actual designer trips to Mood this season (they went once; Mood apparently sent over fabrics for use in 1 or more other challenges) is apparently being attributed to the fact they're not shooting in Manhattan this season (I think they're shooting in Brooklyn), like it's an issue of the additional distance between Brooklyn & Manhattan--& back--plus time spent shopping in the store cutting too much into their work time, or something (shrugs).
  3. A small point about Hamm's chances tonight: Back in the day, Martin Sheen was nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama Series 6 out of the 7 seasons The West Wing aired on NBC. He was considered the 1 to beat in the category all 6 times. He NEVER won the award for that role. Also, though it's not quite as pertinent--though still applicable--actress Jane Kaczmarek was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy all 7 seasons of her show, Malcolm in the Middle. She also was considered to be the 1 to beat in the category, at least most of the 7 seasons. She never took home the Emmy for that role either (though her then-husband, actor Bradley Whitford, won for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama thanks to his role in The West Wing at the long-delayed--thanks to 9/11 & the start of the subsequent wars--2001 Emmys). So this goes to prove that, even if you're considered "a lock" for or "deserving" of the win, you shouldn't count on being the 1 to go onstage & accept the award when the category winner's announced. The same thing may continue to happen to Hamm tonight.
  4. Right. That kid, Jamie, made 5 sons & truly put Malcolm in the middle (as I remember, he was son #3). In real life Jane Kaczmarek & her (sadly--they seemed to be a cool couple, back in the day) now ex-husband, The West Wing & Transparent Emmy winning actor Bradley Whitford, had their second daughter (of 3 kids--girl/boy/girl), Mary Louisa. I think Jane & Bradley divorced shortly after both Malcolm & TWW ended (but I'm not positive).
  5. Not all Amish have Germanic (or whatever) sounding accents. A young Amish woman comes to help at our house once a week, & she sounds as Midwestern as the rest of us. And yeah, if the Amish guy in the ad said he was getting pictures of family in the mail that's a total joke. The Amish don't "do" pictures.

  7. Yes thank you! That definitely explains it. I somehow missed whenever they mentioned they ran out of groceries before the Speed Bump.
  8. I'm honestly not sure. I've been ill for awhile & can't comfortably lay on the side where I can actually see my TV now, so I have to go by voices. And, of course, telling who's who is easier on a show that lasts 20-something eps a season instead of less than 10 like this show is. But the ep was on again a couple hours ago, as I write this. After everyone got the Bump instructions & decided who stayed & who went, it seemed like they went around to all the trucks to see how they got along with only 1 crewmember. I think about the third truck, if I remember right, the voice I heard was male & talking about spending the time prepping so they could sell when the others got back. But the others were definitely selling--stressing about getting orders out, hopefully fast, & apologizing to people waiting for their order to even be taken because they were one-handed, as it were. The only thing I'm pretty sure of is it wasn't the waffle boys. I wish I could be more helpful & I apologize I'm not.
  9. Regarding the Speed Bump. The point of it was supposed to be for the person left in the truck while the others went shopping to keep selling product, right (a "pressure test")? I'm a bit surprised that 1 truck shut down entirely for the whole time the others were gone, used it for prep, & yet Tyler never called them out like he did the waffle boys for avoiding challenges & doing stuff like discouraging customers from buying the harder to make steak waffle.

  11. Plus, half of the couple is named "Hartman", not "Hart"--unless they write in a wedding & Hartman takes his husband's name. I don't mind the couple being gay, but I do hope NBC's prepared to commit to the relationship & not water it down--like I think Thirtysomething ended up doing, & like NBC did with Tony Randall's show Love, Sidney (& yes I realize that both aired a couple decades, or so, ago now). I haven't even heard if there's gonna be counterparts for their houseman/assistant, Max, or their dog Freeway (from the series) or Freeway Jr., aka "Junior" (from the reunion movies... I think the original dog died between the series & the first movie). You might be able to replace the dog, but Lionel Stander is pretty irreplaceable--& I don't remember the last few reunion movies even trying to replace him/Max after he died. Guess we'll see what happens. Maybe it'll end up like the Coach reboot & get cancelled "for creative differences" at the eleventh hour (shrugs). I didn't mind the idea of the Coach reboot either, except for the fact Hayden's daughter from the original suddenly became a son (& didn't sound like he was Hayden & Christine's) in the reboot, just so they'd have a plot.
  12. If anyone else answered this already, apologies. I didn't see 1, so I'm responding. Jake dropped out because his dog, who meant a lot to him--more than PR did--needed to be euthanized & he wanted to be there because the dog had been through a lot of rough times in his life. Despite Jake dropping out, they still held an elimination. Joseph was eliminated. They're down to 8 designers now.
  13. I seem to remember Jake saying to Tim he'd had the dog for a long time (I can't remember if he said, like, since he was a kid or not though). Perhaps it was a case of old age & perhaps better all around for the dog.
  14. As I said elsewhere (in another thread/forum), Taylor wouldn't necessarily have to write music for, or star in, a legitimate Broadway Musical or Straight Play to nab a Tony (Heck, she won her Emmy for making an app, not doing a TV show, right?). All she'd have to do is book a couple weeks or so of concerts in a legit Broadway theatre &, voila, she's awarded a "Special" Tony Award. Among others, Barry Manilow, Bette Midler, & Lily Tomlin have been awarded Tonys in this manner "for special contributions to Broadway". And even though they're "Special" (ie "non-competitive/non-acting") Tonys, I believe they still count towards EGOTs. At least in most people's estimation.
  15. I was surprised this was still an Elimination Week after Jake dropped out--& I sympathize on the dog euthanasia. Does next week look like another team/pairs challenge? 'Cause I'm wondering if that's why they also cut Joseph, instead of leaving it at Jake dropping out on his own (like they usually probably would've). What I'm getting at, if it's not clear, is... Is there a reason they'd want 8 designers next week, instead of 9? If Jake hadn't left, unless Heidi & the Judges "aufed" 2 people, they would've been at 9 designers next week--an uneven number for teams/pairs. So I'm wondering.
  16. Dave's first post-Late Show gig will be as a correspondent for a National Geographic Channel documentary series on climate change. He'll apparently be going to India to do it, in January of next year (2016). http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/david-letterman-national-geographic-channel-climate-change-1201596066/
  17. I forget exactly when, in the episode timeline, Charlie discovered it, but he discovered it because he was filling out his own college admissions paperwork--maybe even for Georgetown, where Zoey graduated from (& so did my brother, for Undergrad school), I forget--& something suddenly struck him when he got to what we eventually discovered was the Family Health History Form (which I don't remember either me or my brother having to fill out--but I went to a local "Regional Campus" for Indiana & Purdue combined instead of leaving home like my brother did). I could see where a University might want students' health history though, if they had an Infirmary/big deal Health Services Department on campus.
  18. I don't think it's "played out". Ellen DeGeneres tends to have those kinds of people on her show. Like today she had on a young girl who creates cheap in cost, but fully-functional & effective, prosthetic hands from a certain kind of plastic on a 3-D printer. It somehow tied into her new clothing line for Gap Kids, but exactly how was lost on me. So, yeah, people like that are still getting on talk shows. There's 1 person in particular, from the last few days, I could've seen Carson interviewing if he were still around. But I don't know if Stephen would as well. And that's all I'll say since it's diverging into OT areas.
  19. She got married over the summer (I saw it, meant to post it, & forgot... My bad!). But unless I'm mistaken, going by Monday's show, she still seems to be going by "Lindsay Arnold" professionally.
  20. Paula Tweeted she has to cancel a signing for her new cookbook, scheduled for an LA-area Costco this weekend (I think), because she has to rehearse more for Monday's show. https://twitter.com/paula_deen/status/644539605442662400 She also posted a bunch of behind-the-scenes photos from working on the show on her blog: http://www.pauladeen.com/blog/behind-the-scenes-dwts-buttercup-part-2
  21. She probably wouldn't even have to appear in/create music for a "legitimate" Broadway show (Musical or Play); just book at least a week (probably 2 is better) of concerts in a legit Broadway house & she's sure to be awarded a "Special" Tony for it (Barry Manilow, Lily Tomlin & others have received Tonys that way--by the way, I love Manilow, so I'm not slamming him, or anyone else named [except Taylor... Laughs] for it). It still would probably count (at least by most people) towards an "EGOT" (Grand Slam of Major Entertainment Industry Awards--Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), even if it's "Special". And, yeah, it boggles my mind too that the (my opinion) overrated, under talented--at least vocally--beyotch is halfway to an (highly undeserved, in my opinion) "EGOT", having won an Emmy & at least 1 Grammy. To win an Oscar, she'd actually have to be a credited writer on a winning song from a movie. The singer doesn't win the Oscar unless they're also a credited writer. The singer winning the Oscar for Best Song, as a "separate entity" from the writer(s), is a misconception.
  22. Adding to the list of DWTS bloggers this season, Derek is blogging for TV Guide (apparently for at least the second season, if not longer). His first blog is here: http://www.tvguide.com/news/dancing-derek-hough-blog-week1/
  23. Responding to the bolded. If you haven't watched the Nightline & The Late Show with David Letterman interviews embedded upthread, Terri Irwin is in both. She & Bindi were both guests on Letterman--which is a 2007 interview from when they were "Australian Ambassadors" to the "G'Day LA" & "G'Day New York" celebrations of Aussies in the US/Australian tourism campaigns--but Bindi got the seat closest to Dave's desk & did most of the talking during the interview. Terri (along with Derek, at the end) just comments about Bindi & helps with an animal demo or 2 in the Nightline interview; Bindi's the focus since it's about her DWTS participation. But you can still get a sense of what Terri's about from them. As someone upthread said, she's like the "calm" to the "storm" that was Steve & that Bindi tends to be as well. I used to watch The Crocodile Hunter on Animal Planet (& still will if it's on & there's nothing else that looks good). They were, I feel, very much an "opposites attract" couple in terms of temperament, personality, etc., even with their shared love of wildlife & efforts to protect it.
  24. I get this may be a different case, but they let the British Classical Singer Katherine Jenkins dance--I'm pretty sure it was on the anniversary special last season--when she was at least 3-4 months (I think closer to 4) pregnant. And everyone seemed happy she was pregnant when it was mentioned in the special. Katherine was originally on the same season as Maria Menounos, as I remember.
