  1. Yeah. Ryan Seacrest was today's Co-Host. Besides the facts that I'm pretty sure he hasn't been cloned & they mentioned he was going to host stuff during the Olympics during Host Chat, I knew it was a repeat/compilation show today just because he was Co-Host. It's pretty hard for him to be in Rio hosting Olympic segments for NBC & in NYC Co-Hosting with Kelly on the same day. Until I saw Ryan in NYC Co-Hosting today, when I knew he's been in Rio doing the Olympics for the last week, I have to admit I wasn't sure if they were on vacation/pretaped shows this week or not (especially since I usually only stick around to hear the guest list & for Host Chat/the trivia & opening dancing stuff).
  2. Nick also hosted his own talk show, VH1's Morning Buzz (that name may not be exactly right, but it's close), which ended awhile ago. The only stumbling block to getting him possibly is, his wife Vanessa's an actress (Vanessa Lachey) & I think she might have a role in 1 of the new fall shows based in LA (I guess there's always a bicoastal marriage, but they also have a 4-year-old son & an 18-month-old daughter). I'd been wondering if they were on vacation this week. It was really clear they probably are after seeing today's episode. Ryan Seacrest was the guest Co-Host. He's in Rio right now, hosting the late night Olympic coverage for NBC, & they even talked about him doing that during Host Chat. So today was definitely a repeat of a complete old show or 1 of those "cut & paste" shows where they make an ep out of different segments from old eps & pass it off (or try to) as a "new" ep while they're on vacation.
  3. WGNAmerica has been airing the Mothership most/all week at 4AM Eastern (5AM Eastern Sunday night/Monday morning) for at least a couple/a few weeks now. They were towards the end of Jamie's run as ADA when they started & they just started Abbie's run as ADA this week; the episode DWB aired early this morning. Then they ran another ep I've already forgotten the plot of at 9 Eastern this morning, followed by a long Blue Bloods marathon. At least right now they're not running the 4-hour Friday morning mini-marathon of the Mothership on WGNAmerica anymore. While I'm here, in case anyone's interested Elisabeth Röhm has been in Hawaii for most of the last week, filming a guest spot on Hawaii Five-0. I don't follow her on social media, but I found out about it because others retweeted her Tweets about it to Hawaii Five-0 Twitter feeds I do follow. Her appearance--& she might be a recurring character, I'm not sure--should be in either Ep 703 or 704 of their show (I think that's what they're filming right now, anyway), so early in the season unless they air eps out of production order for some reason. I'll try to post an airdate for her ep when I find out. It probably won't be until at least October though, since Hawaii Five-0's season premiere's not until September 23rd.
  4. Tyler's restaurant/restaurants (& I think his wife owns a store of some kind that's part of the business holdings) is/are in the San Francisco Bay area, as opposed to SoCal/LA, Catalina Island, etc. But I still get your point; definitely a budget cut.
  5. Chopped is normally so product placement-free that they don't even name the restaurants the judges--like Geoffrey, Alex, Marcus, Amanda, Scott, etc.--own or work at now. They haven't for years now, but they did for awhile after it originally started.
  6. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/americans-showrunners-tease-season-5-918486?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter As with the article in the post above, it's at least vaguely spoilery for Season 5 of the show.
  7. The showrunners did the annual panel discussion for the show at the TCA meeting yesterday (Tuesday). Here's something of a recap from Variety. Spoilerphobes consider this spoilery: http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/the-americans-fx-joel-fields-joe-weisberg-matthew-rhys-keri-russell-1201834122/ They also said (quotes from other media sources represented at the TCA meeting that weren't mentioned in the article above). I'm not sure this info is as spoilery as that in the article, so I'm not tagging it as such. Apologies to those who think I should've. The show will probably return in the Spring of 2017, maybe a bit later than this past season's spring debut. They've had an idea of how the show will end for 3 years now, but it could still change. The creators mapped out roughly what will happen in the final 2 years, before concentrating on Season 5 specifically. Whether or not Henry will ever clue into what's going on is something that's going to become more & more part of the story.
  8. The show won the TCA (Television Critics Association) Award for Outstanding Drama last night (Saturday). I think it's won this award previously in the last 4 seasons. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/2016-tca-award-winners-people-917083/item/individual-achievement-drama-917837
  9. I was just going to ask if the winner in the Finale was the same chef who kept saying, in her previous round, if she won she was going to take her daughter to Cambodia to meet her grandmother--who'd estranged herself from her daughter/the kid's mother years ago. So thanks for confirming that. It was definitely weird how her story suddenly changed in the Finale from going to Cambodia with her daughter to whatever it was about the daughter having cancer (I thought it was celebrating she was in remission, or something similar).
  10. Jack played the studio/network page on 30 Rock. He was 1 of Alec's co-stars on it.
  11. That "old lady" was Brooke Johnson, who used to be President of Food Network. She resigned either late last year or earlier this year. Shortly before Tuschman, anyway.
  12. More on Anton Yelchin. He died without a will (& with an estimated $1.4 million fortune) & his parents are filing to control his estate. http://www.people.com/article/anton-yelchin-death-victor-irina-yelchin-file-probate Also... He (his family) received written notice of his car's safety recall *7 days AFTER he died*. http://variety.com/2016/film/news/jeep-recall-anton-yelchin-1201828785/
  13. @Loandbehold: I checked. Yes, The Magic of David Copperfield V was the ep Matthew directed. And, according to posts in the Awards and Nominations thread, that's the episode both Matthew & Keri submitted for consideration in the Lead Drama acting categories they're now nominated in. Having said that, I'm not really sure there was that much weight added to consideration for Matthew's nomination because he acted in & directed it. At least in the initial rounds of voting, the voting is done only by the TV Academy members in the categories that apply to the awards involved--actors & actresses vote for actors & actresses, directors for directors, writers for writers, etc. And Matthew didn't get a directing nomination. Here's another article, from Entertainment Weekly, about Matthew & Keri attending the White House State Dinner for the Singaporean Prime Minister & his wife. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/08/03/americans-keri-russell-matthew-rhys-white-house-state-dinner If anyone's interested, there's a whole article on People magazine's website, people.com, about how they did Keri's makeup for the dinner. If you can't find it, lemme know & I'll post the link.
  14. Steven Bochco is in talks to make an L.A. Law reboot with Fox, the studio which owns the original version of the series. http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/steven-bochco-l-a-law-reboot-1201827966/ Also, on the heels of the death of Garry Marshall, the multi-hyphenate who brought it to the big screen, starring Bette Midler & Barbara Hershey, there comes word that Lifetime is producing a new version of Beaches. Tony-winning actress/singer Idina Menzel (Wicked; she's also known for singing Let It Go, the song from Disney's Frozen, & as the ex-wife of Murder in the First star Taye Diggs) will star in the part played by Bette Midler in the Garry Marshall film version. No word yet on who'll play the Barbara Hershey role. But this link says production starts in 2 weeks. http://deadline.com/2016/07/beaches-remake-idina-menzel-star-lifetime-1201793989/
  15. Since this is connected to a death discussed upthread, I'm posting it here. According to TMZ & E! (my source), Anton Yelchin's parents are filing a lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler, along with the actual manufacturer of their son's car, & apparently the dealership where he bought the car (3 different defendants), in connection with Anton's recent & horribly untimely passing. http://m.eonline.com/news/784287/anton-yelchin-s-parents-plan-to-file-lawsuit-against-automaker-after-deadly-car-accident
  16. Hannah Davis is a model, most notably in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue (she was on the cover in 2015). She was also the host of Project Runway Junior last season. To top it all off, around 3 weeks ago tomorrow (July 11th) she married Derek Jeter. He's a now-retired (I think) baseball star who played (plays?) with the New York Yankees. I knew 2/3 of this off the top of my head; got the rest, & confirmed it all, through her Wikipedia page.
  17. The previous posters are right. Barbara Corcoran sucked as much as Mario Batali excelled. And I watch The Chew most days & completely forgot, until it was mentioned it here, they do a Pyramid version therein every so often, & Mario is very good at that version too.
  18. It might air/continue airing on FN (the show she's on, The Kitchen Sink, which has already produced 6 episodes & aired at least 1--which was done as ep 4--on FN). It probably depends. I haven't heard either way. I've noticed over the last few months, it could even be a year, they've started airing episodes on the network of what was originally produced as online-only content for the FN website. They air this stuff mostly on weekends & in late night/graveyard shift type timeslots. Like that Chopped After Hours show where Ted & different sets of judges from the different eps get to make their own meal courses with the contents of various baskets used in previous shows (I'm pretty sure the baskets are used by the judges for the same meal course they were used for in the original episode). It's a "looser" version of the show & tends to "humanize" any of the regular judges (&/or Ted) viewers may not like for any reason (I think so, anyway). And then there was that random episode of The Kitchen Sink I lucked into finding on a Sunday a few weeks ago. And, last Sunday, they aired the final ep of Star Salvation (where Yakub won the right to go back into the FNS competition) right before Yakub's actual brief return to FNS.
  19. I saw what looks like it was Ep 4 (of 6) this season a few weekends ago, I think on a Sunday around late AM/early PM. It seems to be an offshoot of The Kitchen, perhaps originally airing online only, with various pairings/groupings of hosts from that hosting each episode (but not all 5 in the same show here, just 2 or 3 at a time). The ep I saw involved Jeff Mauro & Marcela Valladolid debating whether pie or cake was better, & making recipes to prove why each was the better choice. http://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/the-kitchen-sink/episodes.html
  20. Martita was originally on S8. She & some other also-rans from earlier seasons were in a Star Salvation like show, which ran at the beginning of the season (I think concurrently with it), to see which of them got the last spot in this season's cast. Martita won that slot, but was eliminated in the third week (I think). Then, last week, they brought back Yakub, who won Star Salvation, & eliminated him again the same episode. Personally, I think that was maybe 1 too many returnees this season.
  21. I think I've seen You Gotta Eat Here! in the Cooking Channel listings; & on FN once upon a time, when they aired a "preview" block of CC shows (which they did more than once, as I remember). I'm not sure if it's still airing on CC or not. But I remember that title.
  22. Jeff is 1 of the 5 hosts of The Kitchen, which is still making new shows. Right before/after FNS started, Eddie just finished hosting (what sounds like it was/what I assume was) the first season of The Kids' BBQ Championship with fashion model Camila Alves, aka Mrs. Matthew McConaughey. So... 2 former winners still have an onscreen FN presence.
  23. By "actress", do you mean Cheryl Hines (I forgot who the judges were & saw her mentioned in the post above yours, & I'm guessing)? She plays Larry David's wife on Curb Your Enthusiasm which has aired on HBO, is taking a hiatus right now, & I think is supposed to start airing again later this year, sometime next year, or by 2018 (I've heard multiple return dates). She also married into the Kennedy family in August, 2014. She married Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., 1 of the sons of Ethel Kennedy & the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy, Sr.
  24. Were last week's EPCOT shows from last season, when Daphne didn't go--presumably because she was so close to having her son--or were they from this year's trip to the EPCOT Wine & Food Festival (I've forgotten when that's supposed to be)? I got confused watching what I saw of them, since Daphne wasn't there (& I knew she wasn't last year probably because of her pregnancy being so advanced at taping time); I figured she'd be there this year, since she missed last year & since this year (even if it's on her "dime") I thought she might bring at least Philo along since she might be around the age to start liking the Disney characters (probably the Princesses) & "getting" the whole theme park "thing".
  25. I haven't read the book either, but perhaps another reason why there was some stuff she wanted to review & didn't get to--besides those cited by @Ailianna above--is the fact she was also a single mother trying to raise 2 sons, & she was in the middle of a custody fight over at least 1 of the boys (as I remember) at the time.
