They looked like Lannister guardsmen IIRC.

Another thought I had was that these guys aren't willing to waste time. The killing of Doran last week, Roose and Balon this week...the deck-clearing is happening and fast. I'm very glad to see that they're doing this.

Ah, that felt good. I have to admit I wondered if they were just going to troll us to the extreme, and we've been wondering for so long, but that would be some dumb storytelling if they hadn't brought him back. I'm so glad it happened, and this alone tells me I'm glad we're getting an ending from the show, since getting an ending from the book seems more and more unlikely.

I was wondering what Davos saw as well. That was an intriguing moment and after watching it again I still don't know what the deal is with that. I wonder if he was just amazed at how much blood Jon had lost and thinking that he was probably already dead but it was best to let the other watchmen learn this on their own?

Well, yes, and Michelangelo is a better artist than Jim Lee. You can't beat perfection, but that doesn't mean other people can't be good too.

1. It was implied that Arya was blind as a punishment/consequence of stealing a face while holding onto her identity in the previouslies. 2. Jorah contracted the greyscale disease while fighting Stone Men to save Tyrion while he was taking the latter to Daenerys as a token to get back into her good graces.

Since Rita Repulsa was revealed a few days ago and was trending for a good long while, I figure we should have a topic for this too. The New Rita Repulsa: Secretly Brilliant, or Headache-Worthy?

Presenting Game Of Thrones Season 5...With Farts

I love how proud Melisandre looks near the end. -
Morality in Storybrooke / Social Issues: Threads Combined!

I still remember how bizarre it looked when Ariel stabbed Regina in the neck with a forking fork. Lana sold it as well as she possibly could, but it was a neck stab with a fork that involved no blood at all. Couple that with the uncanny valley CGi sets and that scene still gives me the creeps. -
The Winds Of Winter: Book 6 Will Arrive...Someday
DigitalCount replied to GreyBunny's topic in A Song Of Ice And Fire
Mel could do it on her own, but what would be the point? In-universe, AA doesn't get someone else to stab Nissa Nissa, he does it himself and that's who Stannis believes himself to be. From a Doylist perspective, it has always seemed like Shireen's story with Stannis was headed here. If someone else swoops in and saves Stannis from having to make the choice to kill Shireen, that's not really a story. For the how, well, Mel has access to powers that allow her to see people in the flames across long distances. All we really need is an Asha POV where Stannis' army has been decimated by a combination of snow and Ramsey, and she sees him off to the side, crawling through the snow, muttering something like "do it, I know you can hear me." That way, Stanstans can continue believing that he would never, because plausible deniability, but everyone else would conclude that he's giving Melisandre permission. -
Red also had chemistry with Belle in the episode where she faked out kissing her to lock her in the library. Don't remember the name, maybe Child of the Moon? Anyway, it was the one where Gus-Gus got turned into Gus Gus. Yes, I'm terrible.

S06.E01: The Red Woman SPECULATION THREAD
DigitalCount replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Game Of Thrones
Lol at "Jon Snow is dead." Like seriously guys, for serious! He's totes ded!11!!!!! Also, is it possible we're getting Strong Belwas shoved in now? That was my first thought, though I haven't been keeping up with casting since the spec thread seems to mix book spoilers with show spoilers. Interesting that Cersei is going to see Myrcella. Presumably that means just her body, though again I don't know if they got Tiger back to film a scene of her lying around motionlessly. -
Happily Ever After: Relationships Are Hard
DigitalCount replied to CatMack's topic in Once Upon A Time
I do have a question about Rumple's capabilities in that moment when Belle pushed Gaston. Belle was holding the dagger. Do we know if her last command stopped him from being able to do anything? Can he act independently of the dagger in a roundabout way? Like, say, Belle says "don't hurt Gaston," can he then destroy the dock while teleporting himself and Belle away so that Gaston just happens to fall into the river? Because if the answer is no, then I don't think he could have frozen Gaston at that point either. In fairness this is probably a better question to ask in the episode thread, but it relates to the two of them because I don't think Rumple's failure to use magic there was actually a manipulation on his part. I don't think it was his fault that Belle did what she did. -
So disappointed today. Holly Marie Combs is at a local convention, but the tickets to the convention are sold out, and their general mismanagement of the situation has turned me off of supporting them. I didn't realize how much I was looking forward to meeting someone from this catastrophe until it was no longer possible ;_;

Just watched the episode, and you can see the point where Belle decides she's going to marry Gaston. It's when she's told that she can be the hero. As I was watching it the first time, I said "Oh, well you should have led with that" because it works, perfectly. That's when Belle agrees.

Is there a possibility that Laurel isn't dead? Like, she asked Oliver to promise her something, she seems fine, and then we never see what he promises her but she then dies? I know the fakeout would seem pulled from some orifice, but I couldn't help but think that Laurel isn't really dead here. Maybe it's because this season has seen the best writing for her in the entire series, but I was actually warming up to her. Little did I know that they were about to drop a Frigidaire on her face.

Yeah, this is the idea behind the modern concept of felony murder. You don't get to just break the law in a manner likely to get someone killed and then blame the lawful actors for the deaths that result from crossfire. Stannis has the advantage here of actually being the king by the rules everyone has agreed to. As annoying as he is, as insufferable, he is the king. Joffrey is fully Lannister and has no right under the law to the throne. Power may reside where men believe it to reside, but that sort of thinking is a luxury afforded by the agreement they have made to have a system they live within. By the rules of that system, Stannis is king. The worst part is, Tyrion knows this to be a fact. He is at this point 100% certain of the truth of Joffrey's parentage. Maybe he has to act as he does out of family loyalty, but his thoughts are not a fair or accurate assessment of the situation.

I've never particularly understood why Talisa gets so much hate. I understand that she is the girl anachronism, but I don't think it really hurt my viewing experience that much. I never really got into Song!Robb as a character, so his book story did nothing for me. I actually felt much more engaged watching the show version, and that had very little to do with Oona Chaplin's breathtaking beauty. I didn't say "nothing," but I did say "very little."

I could write reams on how Tywin is actually the most misunderstood character (sorry Mel, you're a nut), especially by the fans. D&D get a whole lot of well-deserved flack for their commentary on the character (and really they write all of the Lannisters named Lannister wrong to some degree) but way too many people love this dirtbag. You go on w.org and you get so many apologists for his actions, people ready to justify his stupid tactics and Pycelle-caliber bootlickers. This is the man who is directly responsible for his family's collapse, and I think that is the intent, but you wouldn't know it if you asked ten random fans.

(Haven't seen the movie yet, so that's where my answers are coming from. This may change in about a month or so) I really find Veronica to be fundamentally different in S3, in a bad way. There was a time when she seemed hard done by and legitimately striking out against those who had done her harm. In S3 that changed and it felt like she was just a mean-spirited jerk who said and did mean things because she could and knew how to get away with them. (My reaction to S03E20's title: "when did she ever leave?") Dick Casablancas is super under-the-radar perceptive/intelligent from a worldly point of view (not book smart), which actually makes him more abhorrent because he can't hide behind stupidity to justify or excuse his behavior. At the same time it's hard for me to hate Ryan Hansen's portrayal. But there were definitely a couple of times where he understood stuff or responded in a way that was incongruous with the persona he was trying to project. Parker became one of my favorite characters and remained so thereafter when she saved Veronica in Spit and Eggs. For the record, that list includes Wallace, Weevil, Mac and Cyrus as well as Keith on good days. Cassidy as essentially the series' villain was derailing to the point of making me question why I watched the show in the first place. I'll always feel that Kendall made so much more sense as the architect of the bus crash, and even after he explained his reasons it seemed so OTT. Although I guess that in a genderbent noir story, Kendall can't really be the femme fatale. I think it's BS that Weevil and Veronica never ended up together. I did ship Veronica/Wallace and Veronica/Troy at various times, although I think we can stop pairing Aaron Ashmore with damaged, peppy truth-seekers for a while (waiting for him to show up on iZombie). With Wallace, it was mostly the episode where they had her go full-on wife status for his basketball career. But with Weevil it was always there in the background.
