I’m on the fifth episode now and Union is still selling it. Alba I think I’d trying but just isn’t a good actress and can’t do anything with the shitty writing. Zach Gilford looks embarrassed to be there and as a result the actor playing his partner has to carry him through every scene.

Didn’t Leanne sleep with Steve right before he and Tracy got married? Leanne is the worst. At least Tracy is always called out on what a terrible person she is. Leanne never gets called out on anything despite doing some crappy things in her time.

They weren’t. He’s just not one of them. That’s literally the only difference that I can see. I think he got a lot of laughs though. It wasn’t as bad as I expected though from reading here. I think his style of presenting his the reluctant, grumpy host. I don’t think he’s as hated as people think he has a lot of high profile friends.

I know from the episode we’re supposed to like the new guy but i found him really insincere and way too over familiar. Ugh.

Love Gervais. They are all so pretentious. I love that he calls them out for it.

Agreed. It’s just so lazy ie we can see the plot isn’t working out how we hoped so we’ll just wave it away.

I thought I’d be more enamoured just by reading the reviews but I found it a bit underwhelming and very overacted in parts. The fight scene where he punches the wall was unmoving because it felt like something right out of a play. Just really overacted. The emotions weren’t authentic to me and I didn’t feel the real, ugly rage that you get when having a fight with a spouse/partner coming from either of them. Ultimately Charlie had an affair so the dissolution of the marriage is on him. The fact he did it with someone they worked with speaks volumes about his consideration for Nicole’s feelings. I think Nicole would have left him eventually as she seemed to resent him for so much and he did seem deserving of a lot of the resentment. Not sure I get the awards buzz. Driver really made the character his own So I’m ok with that but I could feel ScarJo acting Through it all. Same with Dern although I feel her character was meant to be a bit actressy and over the top. I loved the mother though.

They’re such an utterly awful family though. Especially Diane Keaton and Rachel McAdams.

As much as everyone appears to hate Treem I do think that her job was made very tough. By the sounds of it RW wasn’t happy from the get go and a lot of the reason for that was the gratuitous scenes but also the fact that she was playing a character that she didn’t like. She wanted the character to be completely different and while I get that she wasn’t the writer or showrunner so I don’t know that I agree the character needed to be retooled into whatever version Ruth agreed with. honestly I just don’t get why Ruth took the part when she seemed to hate everything about the show and character from day one.

Just watched Moonlight and Mistletoe - how needy and selfish was that father? Ugh. I mean I get missing your daughter but not looking after your finances and then expecting your daughter to fix it for you? Ugh. Zero time for him. I did like Candace and the other lead guy.

Delighted for Pesci and the award nominations. I’m not crazy on Pacino at the best of times so his nominations are meh to me. I’m disappointed for De Niro though as he carried the movie for me so I was expecting more award love for him given the other three got it.
