Not the greatest season opener, but not horrific either. The robots were fun to watch, reminiscient of "classic" era shows. That said, if I wanted to hear a gratuitous shout of "Yasss, queen!" I'd watch Queer Eye. Really? 🙄

Wow, I have nothing to add to the above comments except... Re the episode's title, and that toast toward the end: Any coincidence that St. Patrick's Day is coming up? 😉

Homicide: Life On The Street - General Discussion
arachne replied to WendyCR72's topic in Homicide: Life On The Street
Just started watching Season 5. (This is where the opening credit montage changed, which I was never a big fan of.) I've found that there are some episodes I need to skip -- not because they aren't good, but they're just too painful to watch again. "Work Related" is one of those; "The Hat" is another. -
Hey, did anyone catch the Oz shout-out from Harley's mom? Not bad for a show that ended 22 years ago! 😉

Homicide: Life On The Street - General Discussion

Watched the S4 episode "For God and Country" last night. The cast included J.K. Simmons as a right-wing racist murder suspect. Watching Simmons' performance, I could see the beginning of his character from OZ a couple years later. Also, a nice crossover with Law & Order. Good comedy relief with Munch and a NYC detective talking about Munch's ex. -

I'm in the middle of streaming Season 4 now, but I chose to skip "A Doll's Eyes." Many people rank this episode among their favorites, but I always found it overrated. If I wanted to see distraught people in a hospital, I'd watch House. 😒 -
Season 5, 24 Episodes - Laundry Baskets for Everyone!

Last night I saw the "Northern Hospitality" episode. I gotta say, while I enjoy watching the Adam character, he's the last person I would invite to my dinner party! (My ego is fragile enough as is.) -
Seen the first two shows so far. Jeremiah seems okay, I think he'll grow into this. Liked the rock/mineral shop, and that Jeremiah seems to be into crystals. (Whatever you may think of them, they do look nice.) Did not like Antoni's new haircut. And I always heard you should never change your hair right after breaking up with someone.

Stephen Colbert had the perfect rejoinder for that last week. He said that's like telling the janitor who cleans toilets, You must love people with explosive diarrhea, look at all the material it gives you!

Homicide: Life On The Street - General Discussion

I would tell a newcomer to the show that they could skip most of Season 7, except for "Homicide.com" and the finale, "Forgive Us Our Trespasses." The rest of the season, not all that memorable. But YMMV. The other day I watched "A Many Splendored Thing" from Season 2. I heard Pembleton's monologue to Bayliss ("Virtue is not virtue until it slams up against vice") and the scenes with Bayliss and the leather jacket, and it jolted my memory: I thought, Aha! That's where it all started! -
I'm guessing it's just creeping age. His walk changed as well.

I pretty much withdrew from watching WWF/WWE between 1997 and 2013. (Found WCW more interesting, and later I had other things to do.) After watching this docuseries, I'm glad I held back. Steve Austin and John Cena notwithstanding, some plot lines were just -- ewww!

Homicide: Life On The Street - General Discussion

Still working my way thru the first season (I don't binge as a rule) and I'd forgotten what a fun character Crosetti was, particularly in his interactions with Lewis. TPTB committed a serious crime when they sacked Jon Polito. -
Season 4, 25 Episodes - Looks like we're here for another year
arachne replied to SoMuchTV's topic in Northern Exposure
This week I watched the Season 4 episode "Sleeping With the Enemy" about how Maurice's Korean son needed his permission to get married. Maurice granted it at first, but then rescinded it when he learned that the woman in question was the daughter of a vicious North Korean general who had tortured Maurice during the war. However, after seeing how unhappy his son was, Maurice turned around and granted permission again. It took me back to when the show first aired in the 90s. I was watching with my late spouse, who had himself been a prisoner during the Korean War (and treated very badly.) I asked him later, you think Maurice did the right thing? He said, "Yeah, you gotta let that shit go." Somehow I've never forgotten that. -

Watched the first episode, "Gone for Goode" last night. I don't binge as a rule, but it will be fun to experience this all over again (though I may skip most of Season 7.) I was talking back to the TV a lot. When the phone rang at the end of the show, I shouted to Bayliss, "No, don't pick that up! You'll be sorry!" -
Wow, I had no idea hospice care was so corrupt. Thankfully, my own experience was limited. When my husband's colon cancer proved inoperable (he was a bad surgery risk) we got services from a group called "Hearts for Hospice" which gave him care at our house. I highly recommend it. Eventually, my spouse did check into a hospice, where he died less than two days later.

Be interesting to see what happens to Kwame after this. Will he be "The one to beat" now? That could create even more trouble. I know there are really no "good" or "bad" guys on this show, but I think we're supposed to root for Tenax, Cala and her brood. And those kids helping them are cute, good to see Cala giving them their twos n' fews for their trouble. Sad about the big bald guy hunting down Ursus. Guess he got in over his head (okay, sorry.) But y'know who I feel really bad for? Whoever has to clean up all that mess, both at Tenax' house and his, uh, office! 😟

Slightly OT: FWIW, the actual "Last Supper" probably looked nothing like the DaVinci painting. By the start of the Common Era, the Roman practice of lying down to eat had spread thruout the empire. And if it was a Passover seder, they would have been eating matzohs, not those dinner rolls you see in the painting. Okay, back to your regularly scheduled comments...

I'm glad HBO has John Oliver to counteract Bill Maher (whether that was his intention or not.) Okay, I see the title of this thread was changed. Thanks, that last title was embrassing. Speaking of embarrassment -- those news people trying to speak French? Merde! 🤮

No habla espanol. Does anyone know what John was saying in one part of that "migrant" segment? For me, the scariest part of RNC (other than Matt Gaetz' face) was all the signs that read "MASS DEPORTATION NOW" -- just the thought that someone actually made these official-looking placards for it! 😟

Originally titled "Assassination Run," the title was changed in light of current events. That would explain the opening disclaimer too.

They love the tight close-ups on this show. Jamie Lee Curtis is old now. We! Get! It! I'm glad Nat had the baby before season's end, that's done with. I never had a baby myself, and this episode only reinforced my life choice.

Admittedly, the ending with Hughie and his dad got me a little weepy. (I had my own Jar-Jar situation not too long ago 😢) While I don't especially like that lady executive (forget the name, the one who lost her hair) I was glad to see her get back at her former submissive, while covering up for A-Train. Hope the "leak" question is put to bed now. That's how you train a monster -- start 'em young and start with an altruistic angle. Somebody save that kid!
