  1. I think Nick is just the logical next step after Meloni's Underground character. Nice to see him get more bitter and complex with age.
  2. I found it a bit ominous the way Smurf assured Baz that he was "family". If it comes down to him or Pope, who's gonna take the fall for Catherine's murder?
  3. Harper's Ferry? Yeah, that's gonna turn out well.
  4. ^That was Utah's own Jason Chaffetz, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform -- and of course is a longtime opponent of ACA.
  5. Well, I already like it better than Vinyl, but that's not saying a hella lot. I think I could learn to care about a couple of characters. On the downside, too many cloying rock clichés. I'll give it a couple more weeks.
  6. I think the Alibi Room should get a visit from Jay and Sean with Esquire's Best Bars in America. They could tape a segment there, praising it as "one of Chicago's best dive bars." That might keep the ironic hipsters at bay for a while.
  7. Aaaagh! Gene covered in baked beans! A sight I will never un-see!
  8. I sat all the way to the very end to see if ALEC would get he closing credit John was talking about. And it did. HA!
  9. Just keep in mind that without Nucky's procurement, Jimmy Darmody -- and hence, Tommy Darmody -- would never have existed in the first place. I'm not saying what Nucky did was right, only that this kind of thing is never simple.
  10. I just noticed an ad for Broadview University on this page, in the middle of all these comments. Irony? or only the ignorance of online automation?
  11. So what's happening -- Aramis as Louis XIV's baby-daddy? I hope the show doesn't go there.
  12. The Benedict Arnold story got one fact wrong that I know of: Maj. John Andre was not in his uniform when the Americans captured him; he was wearing civvies. Technically, this made him a spy, and his actions punishable by death, so Andre was hung as a result. (Had he been in uniform, he would have been held as a POW, and probably would have lived.)
  13. The shoot-out at OK Corral. Even sober people argue today about what exactly happened; imagine what a drunk re-enactment would be like. (Just don't give anyone real guns.) The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill in California, and the gold rush that followed. The Lewis & Clark expedition. Actually, I could see a whole half-hour on that one.
  14. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of slavery (duh!) but I found the anti-slavery rants in last night's show too heavy-handed, given the general mindset of the historic time period. Porthos' mother was a slave = Porthos hates slavery = Porthos thinks Bonnaire is scum. Repeat ad infinitum. Okay. WE. GET. IT. So of course, the Musketeers had to trick Bonnaire into getting captured by the Spanish officers at the end. IMO, wouldn't it have been more realistic (and more daring on the writers' part) to let Bonnaire sail off in his slave ship and get away with it? Ah well, nobody watches this show for subtlety anyhow.
  15. As long as we're digging up older quotes: Jason - "If Sam turned into a dog, and he had sex with a lady dog, would that be bestiality?"
  16. OMG, thinking about Tywin made me flash back to Ralphie from The Sopranos: "She was a hoo-ah!" Yeah, I remember how that ended too. And I'm not surprised to see Varys set sail with his, um, cargo. I know how Varys hates chaos, and KL promises to be full of that now.
  17. "Your sister." Best ejection line since Monty Python's "African or European swallow?"
  18. I like it that Bob and I have the same attitude about cell phones. Calling, texting, what more do you need? Overall, a funny, slightly suspenseful season ender. Loved Mr. Fishoeder's blase vibe, even in the face of death. Do not underestimate that character's contribution to the show. And in all the excitement, I totally forgot about Tina's bike lock until the end credits. Ha!
  19. Okay, I didn't read the books, but I saw that push coming.
  20. Gene: I'm here! To cheer! Get used to it! Awesome.
