  1. Considering he seemed to blame her for his alcoholism she’s probably thinking been there done that and I’m happy I’m free of it. After the drama and humiliation (especially to JLO) of the previous engagement I’m surprised they didn’t just go ahead and marry, quietly. Then do the big celebrity wedding later, but I guess they wanted to go through the engagement process again and go from there. Though Ben appears to be doing better, he does seem to have demons in the form of substance abuse issues and a revolving door of women, and Jennifer seems to be in love with being in love. Neither seems like marriage material to me. But hey, it’s their lives. Hopefully they find the happiness and longevity they seek together.
  2. I think you deciphered the timeline correctly. Kate said she spent the past 8 years prepping Edwina to be an English nobleman’s wife. So like you’ve guessed, Kate likely saw that their financial stability was not going to last forever after her father’s death. So she wrote to the Sheffield’s immediately after her father died. I’m also guessing she may have worked on Mary for years trying to convince her to return to England, but once the money ran low she was able to get her to return if for nothing else so that Edwina could land a husband and be financially stable. Kate stated that she and her mother shielded Edwina from the fact that the family was in financial trouble after the father died. So I can believe Mary would get on board with continuing to protect Edwina from their financial troubles by supporting a plan to get her married off to a nobleman whose financially stable. The part Mary obviously didn’t know was about the deal with the Sheffields. Something I haven’t seen anyone mention is Lady Danbury’s poor decision to invite the Sheffields to dinner and with the Bridgertons no less. Did she really think that the former and the Sharmas were going to reunite with hugs, kisses and smiles and be singing Kamba ya by the time dinner was over? A sh*t show was inevitable with such a gathering. Then she had the nerve to give Kate that “I told you so” look after the sh*t hit the fan and the dinner ended in disaster. If she’d not invited the Sheffields to dinner in the first place the whole plan to get Edwina and Anthony married and securing the dowry might’ve gone off without a hitch. I’ll admit I was side-eying Lady Danbury just as much as I was the Sheffields over that mess.
  3. I’ll say the Oscar is not given based on the integrity or the actor being above reproach. If that were the case there’d be whole hell of a lot of actors who’d not have an Oscar. I agree, taking his Oscar away would be over the top as that was earned due to his performance in King Richard. Regarding the ban, I don’t know. Upon first hearing it I thought it was too much but then after thinking about it I’m a little surprised he wasn’t permanently banned. I just think about regular everyday folks who’ve acted out at local establishments and how they’ve been banned forever from said establishment due to their behavior. So I don’t think it’s over the top to ban him for 10 years.
  4. I also watched this having never heard of the case. I was horrified by what she must’ve went through during her last moments being trapped on that submarine with a psychopath and absolutely no way to run away and save herself. The thought is sad and terrifying. This guy truly is a monster and I’m appalled at the fact that he’ll likely only serve 12-16 years for this. I was glad that those in the documentary repeatedly stressed that Kim was doing her job by boarding that submarine, that this is what reporters do, man or woman. Because I’m sure there are some out there who have asked the question as to why she got in a submarine with a guy she didn’t know. Also glad that they spent quite a bit of the documentary talking about who she was and the things her family did after her death to honor her memory.
  5. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the Kate/Anthony scenes. Outside of them, my favorite scene was the dinner from hell where Mary gave her parents the smack down. Yeah it got ugly, but it was great drama. I was glad she got an opportunity to speak her peace. Her parents were just awful, especially her mother. Yeah this was a huge plot hole. I just can’t see Mary and Lady Danbury leaving the Bridgerton estate without Kate. That said, based on Kate’s morning after scene, I kind of got the impression that she’d just returned home that morning, had quickly changed into her night gown but was obviously still shook by her night with Anthony. If you watch closely, you’ll notice that the gown she wore the night before appears to be laying on the bed. I doubt it laid there all night so I concluded that she must’ve just snuck in at or before dawn, leaving Anthony at the gazebo. How she got back to the Danbury estate is beyond me. Did she walk? Is the estate that close? Was she able to get a ride? But from whom. 😂 This so much. That’s what I loved so much about Anthony’s speech to Kate in the gardens after their dance, him telling her he loved her but making it clear that she didn’t have to accept, embrace or allow his love. He just wanted her to have that knowledge that he did indeed love her and had loved her since the moment they met and every moment there after. Swoon. Honestly, Kate must have will of iron because if I was her I would’ve lost my dress, undergarments and lady-hood way before that night in the gazebo. I mean some of the stuff he said to her on top of the way he’d look at her…whew…yeah I wouldn’t have been able to hold out as long as she did. 😂
  6. I'll pull up a chair next to you. Upon re-watching the season I found that I did feel kind of bad for Lord Featherington when Portia kicked him out. She was just as much to blame for mining scheme going south as he was. After all it was her idea. And though I understand her having no intentions of leaving her daughters behind in London or dragging them to America, a world they don't know, in the middle of the night I don't think the situation would've escalated to that point without her scheming with Lord Featherington.
  7. Maybe he used the pull out method ala Simon? Though we here in modern times know that’s not fool proof at all. He wouldn’t know. That does bring up another thought though how did he manage to bed all those prostitutes with not one getting pregnant? Or perhaps they did and took care of it however one would take care of it in those times? And what about STD? Anthony has been very lucky on both fronts.
  8. It was difficult for me to distinguish between the brothers last season. Even still Anthony stood out most amongst the three. However, this season he stood out even more IMO. I don’t know what JB changed, but when he first appeared in this episode I was like whoa. Very attractive. For some reason his good looks just didn’t register to me last season but this season they did. I will say, I can now distinguish between the brothers very easily unlike last season.
  9. Hmm. So did he just perform cunnilingus on her? Cause that part was pretty obvious. Though he’d not need to take off his shirt and jacket to do that. Lol. Perhaps him still having on his pants and it showing was a minor oversight when filming the morning after scene? Anyway, I do think they went all the way, considering Anthony’s words when he and Kate spoke about that night. He said that’s not how he wanted it to happen etc. which implied to me that they actual did make love.
  10. As @Door County Cherry said, Kate told Edwina point blank that Anthony had made it clear that he was only marrying to fulfill his duties not out of love. But I think Edwina couldn’t help but to get caught up in the idea of this rich very attractive aristocrat wanting to be with her. She liked his pursuit of her and she loved the idea of living the life a viscountess. Nothing wrong with that, but my point is she ignored what Kate said, and even forgot what was important to her (and Kate) finding a love match. True. But what was interesting is that the night before the wedding Edwina expressed concern about Anthony’s gaze, or lack there of. He was around all the time because they were betrothed but he was showing no romantic interest in her whatsoever. For her to express concern about this lack of affection meant this was something she desired. I think she even wondered aloud if he loved her. But again I think she was so caught up in his pursuit of her that she completely missed the why behind that pursuit especially considering what she’d learned from her sister about his thoughts on marrying.
  11. I loved her undergarments even if they were historically inaccurate. Lol. I will say I was shocked to see Kate in the library at Aubrey Hall in nothing more than a nightgown in a house that wasn’t “home” and I’m assuming full of visitors who were there for the Hearts and Flowers Ball. Granted it was in the middle of the night but still who knows whom she could’ve run into while moving about the house and she did of course encounter Anthony. I also found it strange that she didn’t have any gentlemen callers, except the one guy whom she took the boat ride with. She is stunning. Men should’ve been falling all over themselves to court her. But I’m guessing her age, prickly reputation, and perhaps even her family heritage (her father not being an aristocrat) is why she didn’t get much action on that front.
  12. I’m rewatching the season and when watching this episode I noticed that Kate and Anthony were inevitable. Well obviously per enemies to lovers trope. Lol. But even before Kate overheard Anthony’s discussion with his gentleman friends, there was an attraction there. Anthony was obviously intrigued when he ran into her in the park that morning and even “wondered” if he’d run into her again after that encounter. He was practically giddy when he saw that it was her on the terrace at the party. And she of course secretly watched him dance at the party and after seeing him head outside, she casually made her way outside too, following him, I think, perhaps with the hopes of running into him? So, I think if things had not gone south after she heard his comments about love and marriage, they would’ve likely started seeing each other immediately.
  13. If true this makes what happened even worse. Smith attacks Rock over a joke he didn’t even write. SMH. No matter the author of the joke, it was tasteless but when have many jokes at these award shows not been? Will’s behavior was disappointing and shameful. I wonder if enough time will have passed next year for him to be invited to present the Best Actress award. And will Rock, be out as a host of the show going forward?
  14. @Door County Cherry and @bubble sparkly have captured my thoughts on Penelope much better than I could articulate. Thus, I have nothing more to add on her except at this point, I do not care about her journey and/or whether she finds love or not. Same with Colin. If the next season will be about his journey (or Benedict for that matter), I will pass. Neither actor has the charisma of RJP or JB and just aren't interesting to watch. Perhaps they will rise to the occasion once it's their turn to shine, but right now I can't see it. The romance between Kate/Anthony was beautiful AND hot. They were definitely hotter than Daphne and Simon. I liked the angst, the stolen looks and touches. The slow burn was so well done as was the pay off. Great casting of Kate (and Edwina). That's one thing this show does well, is casting the main love interests. Thus far, the main couples in both seasons have not just had chemistry, but have smoldered. Many shows are not that lucky with casting chemistry. So good job to the casting directors etc. Loved loved loved the color of the Sharma ladies' gowns not only did the rich colors align with their Indian heritage, but looked absolutely stunning on the actresses. Speaking of the Sharma's I hope SA will be back next season. I'd really like to see more of Kate and Anthony's marriage. I wonder if the series will eventually reveal if Edwina finds a mate. I know that the story revolves around the Bridgertons. So if she ends up marrying the Queen's nephew (or some other guy) we'll likely only hear about it in passing. Though there is no rush perse for her to find someone now that Anthony and Kate are married, and he is likely taking care of her and her mother, it would be nice to see where she ended up after all the drama. Though I didn't miss Simon, it was odd him not being around for some of the balls and most especially for Anthony's wedding. It'll be interesting to see how they handle RP's absence in future seasons. I guess it could be pretty simple since Daphne didn't get much screentime this season and that will likely continue as other stories are told. But if the focus shifted back to her it will be difficult to make it make sense, that Simon is never at any of the family weddings or balls or just visiting the Bridgerton estate from the countryside. I'm glad Lady Featherstone, got the cousin out of their life, but hope she learns from this near fiasco and invest the money she has properly. But knowing the way the family is written, always being on the cusp of ruin, I'm betting there will be more unpleasant drama ahead for Ms. Featherstone and her daughters. Though I enjoyed Kate/Anthony more than Simon/Daphne, I'd say last season was better. It had more interesting stories going with the supporting characters than this season, which made the show better overall. The Kate/Anthony drama almost solely carried my interest this season because it was the the only storyline that was really good. I found that nearly all of the B and C stories etc. this season were boring and mostly filler. I was hoping they'd do more with Marina, being as her story was one of the more interesting B/C storylines last season, but no such luck. Still a good season though. Side note: I love the Queen's wigs, but have to wonder how long it takes costuming to install a 4ft wig and how does GR hold her head up during her scenes with such an extravagant head piece on her head? Lol. The pieces look very heavy.
  15. I know she was angry but that was a low blow. She didn't need to go there to get her point across. I agree with others. This episode dragged and dragged, but I'm glad Edwina finally learned the truth and made a decision that was best for herself and not everyone else. What I found most interesting about this episode was the ripple affect of the wedding going up in flames. The Bridgertons, Lady Dandury and the Sharmas being shunned by society. Lady Dandury being in the hot seat with the Queen. A potential lost of trust between her and the Queen and perhaps even Lady Bridgerton. The destruction of Kate and Edwina's relationship. Though Kate, in a sense, brought this on herself, I felt really bad for her. Thank goodness the Queen's wrath was cooled by Edwina's handling of the King because who knows how much worse this situation could have gotten if that had not happened.
  16. I completely agree. And their after dinner scene, I have no words whatsoever. So good. That said, this situation is an utter mess for all involved. And I agree with whomever upthread who said Edwina doesn’t love Anthony just the idea of him. She doesn’t even know him really. Granted that was not uncommon for wives to not really know their husband’s back then. But I think if these two marry, Anthony and Edwina, she will be in for a rude awakening about who he truly is. Not saying he would be a horrible husband but I could definitely see him being a neglectful husband. He has no romantic interest in her whatsoever. And is obviously in love with someone else. He will do his duty in producing an heir or two but outside of that will spend as much time as possible away from Edwina, which of course will make her very unhappy. I know right. The investment in the worthless mines scheme is a good one, but then what happens when those investors don’t see a return on their investment? That will create a another set of problems. I wish Penelope would get over Colin already. Her fixation on him really has gotten pathetic, not that it ever wasn’t.
  17. The ladies podium was awesome! So much genuine joy and respect! Love to see it. Just finished watching the men's LP. It's too bad the Japanese couldn't sweep, but congratulations to Vincent. Amazing that Yomono was able to smile after that skate. It seems as if he enjoyed himself in spite of the mistakes, which is great. Yuma on the other hand was obviously disappointed with his skate. He hasn't been on in this competition, but did good enough for silver. Congrats to Shomo! Finally he makes it to the top of the podium at one of the big events! It's been a long journey
  18. This. They are fire. I’ve really enjoyed their interactions and chemistry. Anthony’s proposal has indeed created an even bigger mess of this already complicated situation. Perhaps he thought he was backed into a corner? He’s been courting Edwina and everyone watching pretty much expects him to propose to her. If he suddenly backed away from her after relentlessly pursuing her, it could potentially torpedo her chances of finding another mate, whether she’s the diamond of the season or not. And if he backed away from her and start courting Kate that would be even more scandalous. The entire situation is a cluster. So perhaps he thought the only choice he had to save everyone’s reputation, specifically the Sharma ladies, was to propose to Edwina. SMH. Eh. I think Marina finally grew up. And I’m glad she told Colin to do the same. I don’t understand why he went to see her in the first place. What did he expect out of that visit? For them to reminisce about what could’ve been? Perhaps make a plan to finish what they started last season? If he went there for closure he certainly got it. As she said, not everyone’s life is going to be a fairytale. Her husband may be nice but just because a man is nice to you doesn’t mean you’re going to be happy in the marriage. I’m sure she appreciates him saving her from that precarious situation she was in. But she didn’t know him and even once she did get to know him she likely found they had absolutely nothing in common. Her life has unfortunately led to some unfortunate circumstances. She fell in love. Got pregnant out of wedlock. Tried to trick a guy who wasn’t the father into marrying her, because she thought the father of the baby had abandoned her, and so she wouldn’t end up living a life of destitute. Got exposed for that deceit and was in turn shunned by society. Tried to abort the baby. Then found out the abortion had failed, while learning around the same time that the the guy she was in love with and the father of her baby had been killed and had in fact not abandoned her. Then his brother shows up, whom she didn’t know from Adam, and proposes marriage. Of course she accepts because she had no other choice. She’s been through a lot. And is no doubt suffering from severe depression. In modern times she’d undoubtedly need to be seeing a therapist to work through all that’s happened. So I don’t begrudge her for not worshipping the ground her husband walks on and certainly not welcoming Colin with open arms. Honestly it was just awkward for the latter to show up at her home, which she shares with her new husband, unannounced, especially after the way things ended between them.
  19. Watching the men's SP. This is the first time I've seen Vincent skate in a very long time. He has improved tremendously with his artistry. I thought his skate was strong. Unfortunately he received downgrades on the 4Ltz and 4Sal. The other U.S. men...Camden had a great skate, lots of potential there. Same with Ilia, but he has no presence. The song he skated to was great. He could've done so much with that, but not much happened. However, he does have quads. So that'll get him far if he consistently skates clean. Disappointed Carrillo withdrew. This would've been a great opportunity for him to potentially move up in the ranks. Hopefully he'll have a strong season next year and get more visibility and move up in rankings. The Japanese has some great talent to follow Hanyu. Tomono is very impressive. Yuma is definitely head and shoulders above those behind him, but his skate was a little muted. Not as dynamic as his Olympic SP skate. Shoma is just mesmerizing to watch. Such quality in his performance. Again, head and shoulders above the competition. I'm definitely rooting for the Japanese to sweep. Fingers crossed that Shoma can take gold, but if Yuma is on, Shoma has no chance of winning.
  20. Their off ice antics aside, I actually think they were robbed here. They should've taken silver. The Japanese skate was disastrous. I don't think they hit one jumping pass save for the twist. I don't even think they should've been on the podium with that skate, much less silver. Once again, this type of result with that type of skate reinforces why this sport has no credibility with many. Brandon/Alexa skated well and deserved their win though. Congrats to them! I feel terrible for Ashley. I too wonder if something happened early on, specifically before they stepped onto the ice. She missed each jump, having a fall, with her hitting her head on that last fall. She looked really out of it when she sat up after Timothy skated over to help her. I hope she will be okay.
  21. Perhaps it is based on what tactics the detectives are trained to use when interrogating a suspect? Illinois and Oregon have banned deception when interrogating a suspect who’s a minor. And as I understand a couple of other states are considering the same measure. I think some states does not allow detectives to outright lie about what evidence has been obtained related to the crime. They can stretch the truth about that evidence ie we have video of you on the scene, but in truth the video is unclear. They can’t outright lie and say they have video of the crime with the suspect identified on camera if they have no video at all. This could also be why some jurisdictions don’t use deception to ensure there are no issues with the charges if filed. It’ll be interesting to see if more states eventually get onboard with banning deception when interrogating a minor.
  22. It does feel like it was the craze back then as there were numerous YA movies being released around the same time. However, none of them were able to have the type of memorable entertainment impact like a Jurassic Park or Star Wars. The book series of Hunger Games were really good. The movies were on average good when first released, but haven’t held up over time, IMO.
  23. Could the daughter have been adopted? He certainly could’ve adopted a child, with his money, without the wife being on board. I too found it odd that she blamed him for them having a kid. If she did give birth to the daughter , how is that his fault? Did she not have access to birth control? Or an abortion clinic? Or a flight of stairs?
  24. I know right! He didn’t deserve that being that he was the most sensible one working that case, besides the doctor. He was so right when he told Nick that Katherine’s ***** had fried his brain. 😂 Unfortunately for Nick he didn’t listen and in Basic Instinct 2, it was implied that Katherine eventually killed him off. Porn, and now movies and even shows on cable and streaming do not shy away from going there and sometimes leaving little to the imagination when it comes to making the sex look real. Regarding 9 1/2 weeks, I looked it up and it came out in 1986, 6 years prior to Basic Instinct. Though also considered risqué I think for its time, I’m guessing Basic Instinct took it to the next level. Also, Michael Douglas being in the latter may have been why it got more attention than some of the other risqué films that were put out around the same time but may not have starred a well-known Hollywood actor with Douglas’ legacy in the industry.
  25. I guess if she had no respect for her husband and their marriage, why should they. Though I agree, they were stupid. I could not believe they would come to the house though, while the husband was there and go so far as to try and have a conversation with him. One guy even brazenly thanked the husband for being cool about the inappropriate relationship he had with the wife. SMH. Their behavior kind of reminded me of the lover in "Unfaithful". Though he wasn't so cocky as to involve himself in the couple's life, he was stupid to let Richard Gere's character (the husband) into his apartment when he showed up and then proceed to arrogantly talk about why the wife (Diane Lane's character) chose to have an affair with him. Needless to say, his cockiness didn't lead to good end for him. I agree with others. This was not good. Entertaining enough for me to watch until the end, I was hoping something interesting would happen, but it just didn't. The husband and wife were toxic and horrible people. That poor kid is sweet now, but will probably grow up being a dysfunctional mess with addiction and emotional issues. The husband will eventually get caught, and the wife will probably go to prison too, if she continues to have affairs, knowing that her husband will kill her lovers. Also didn't understand why they stayed married. They obviously didn't love each other and the toxic passion exhibited over jealously failed to show any remnants of what used to be, the "passion" or whatever, that brought them together in the first place. I guess I could understand why she would stay with him, because he had money but I have no idea why he would continue to stay married to her. It's one thing for your spouse to cheat, but for them to be so disrespectful as to invite their lovers to dinner parties with you and your friends and then proceed to hang all over them making it obvious that they were sleeping together was too much. It didn't appear that he enjoyed the humiliation. It just made him seethe and kill, stopping the humiliation temporarily. So why put up with it? It made no sense to me. Anyways, Ana de Armas reminds me so much of Eliza Dushku. They could play sisters.
