Andrea Joyce is so annoying. Her asking Nathan if he's had a chance to celebrate his SP. Why would he celebrate? He still has one program to go. SMH

This may be moot in a couple of years for Figure Skating. As I understand, it has been proposed to raise the age limit for competitors to 17. It passed, it would be a gradual increase. Starting next season with the age to enter seniors being 16. Then 17 for the 2023-2024 season.

It is now being “reported” by Russian Twitter that Kamila has been suspended and that the drug was a “preventive” medicine for heart problems. 😒 SMH If true about the drug, that is no doubt performance enhancing. Anyone with heart problems that require drug treatment would not be competitively figure skating and doing quads. Furthermore this would not be on a 15 year old, but her handlers ie Eteri etc.

Well this has turned into a mess of speculation and conflicting information. SMH. It is likely not weed, but some other drug. If she tested positive for a banned substance before the Games why was she allowed to go to Beijing in the first place? Sigh
-
Can you link those articles? Because everything I’ve read either states that the drug is unknown. Guardian is the only one reporting that they’re hearing the drug is NOT performance enhancing and that the debate is over whether it was taken in or out of competition.
-
I think the only ones who’ll be affected by this are the Russian men. This will be a huge distraction for them and could impact their mental game for the competition. Everyone else I believe will be okay.
-
Oh wow. If it’s Kamila. Things just got real interesting. That’s a shame for her considering this will likely be her first and last Olympics.
-
Which was no great loss considering how she got smoked at the follow up competitions but that’s another conversation for another day. Who knows what the athlete tested positive for, but if it’s a banned substance it’s a banned substance, no matter what is thought about how ridiculous the rule is. On this day it is banned. Follow the rules now. Fight to change the rules later. Regarding whether to disqualify or not, I think the whole team should be disqualified. Yes. It’s unfair to the other individuals who were clean and competed but this is ridiculous. I mean isn’t Russia already “banned” due to doping? That’s why they’re competing under the ROC flag? Also, I’m guessing whomever tested positive will be disqualified from competing in their respective skating discipline too? If so, we should learn who failed the drug test soon enough.

This! I enjoy the Olympics and normally will watch skiing and other disciplines but for one I’m just not that interested anymore and don’t have the time to watch because the schedule is so crazy which I guess can’t be helped considering the time difference. I was looking at the broadcast for the ladies SP. It starts at 5am, EST on Tuesday, same with the LP on that following Thursday. Don’t think I’m going to be waking up before the roosters to watch live. I’d be fine with watching the replay later that morning on the NBC Sports App while working, but I bet they won’t release the replay until they air the competition during the PrimeTime broadcast later that night. By that point I’ll know the results and likely have lose interest in watching.

Yeah. For a while there he was landing on his ass in his attempts. Ugly falls and his ankles during those falls. Yikes! But at least now he’s landing upright, but the jumps are two-footed. I think he needs more height. He already spins like a top in the air, in part because he’s so thin, but perhaps more height will give him the time needed to complete the rotations and land on one foot? Anyway, my wishlist for the Men’s FP. 1. That all the skaters skate as strongly as they did in the SP. No splatfests please. 2. I have no wishes for Nathan except that he soaks it all in and enjoys himself. I know that he’s got this. 3. Hanyu skates lights out after getting past what will likely be a non-complete on the 4A. 4. Shoma skates lights out and gets nothing less than silver. 5. Jason Brown sneaks on the podium. I think that would over shadow Nathan’s win though. 😂 6. Boyang has a strong skate and finishes top 10.

Looking at the scores on the app I think he may be in 4th Nope, In 6th. Yuzu in 8th. So he beat Hanyu! Good for him!
-
I'm usually not a fan of Jason's programs, but I love this one. The music. The choreography was A-MAZING. Loved it! Great skate.
-
I like Jason's outfit. OOh skating to Nina Simone.
-
I like the music Moris is skating to. Strong jumps. Strong skate.
-
Nathan's artistry has improved so much. I'm not a fan of the music, but he sold this program. Great skate! No one is going to beat this.
-
Wow Yuma! I think he should be close to Shoma or maybe even overtake him. His artistry isn't as good as Shoma but his technical is very good. Great skate!
-
Wow. Really?! I missed that. Yes. He's an "old" man now and old enough to have kids now. Geez. I feel old. Lol.
-
Great skate by Keegan!
-
The way these guys are skating I think Yuzu could easily end up in 10th going into the FS. So to answer your question, I think it is possible. Though if he doesn't have a quad, unlikely.
-
He has nothing to lose and nothing to prove. I think he's going to go all out in the free skate. I wouldn't be surprised if he skates like he did at 2017 worlds when he was in 5th after the short and skated lights out to win gold. He has no chance of winning gold here unless there's an absolute disaster with the skaters ahead of him, but my point is, I don't think he'll hold back. He's a competitor first and will do his best to skate to his full potential.
-
Cha looks like he skates with a lot of speed. Could be the music though. Strong skate.
-
Love Shoma's outfit. Such presence. Love him. Excellent skate.
-
I've seen him winded like that many times. I'm thinking he had a brain fart on that first jump. Scott Hamilton has talked about it many times, where the brain just says nope and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Could've been nerves too.
-
Oh no Yuzu! Yikes. Well no gold for him. But he can stay in medal contention if he stays on his game for the remainder of the skate. Looking at the score I think he's off the podium. Wow. This sucks. If he'd hit the first jump he'd be in first. SMH.

So why is Brian not at the boards. They have Japanese representative there, but no Brian.
