  1. I watched the first episode on Prime. I thought it was Mordred who died in battle which is what got Arthur banished. But later in the episode the Queen gives birth to Mordred who is destined to be this evil ruler who will destroy the Isle and his people. So who died in battle at the beginning of the episode? Anyway, this wasn’t that good. The world building wasn’t that clear and the characters weren’t all that interesting. I don’t have MGM and even if I did I wouldn’t continue this series.
  2. Ah. Thanks. I went back and watched the last episode. I don’t know how I missed the scene with him at the methadone clinic holding his one month sobriety chip. I”m glad he told the stepson it wasn’t his fault. Though with Glen subsequently dying from an overdose I don’t know how impactful that will be. Throughout the series the stepson seemed extremely emotional over Glen’s addiction even moreso than his mom. I concluded this was in part due to his guilt over his role in Glen’s injury which subsequently led to the latter’s addiction. Are we sure he OD’ed the day after she rejected him? I don’t think it was made clear. I assumed a couple of days, maybe more may have gone by since he had dinner with the family.
  3. This was better than Dopesick IMO. I think because there was heavy focus on the investigation surrounding Purdue Pharma. I liked how they went back to the beginning and showed how the company got their start. They weren’t even a pharmaceutical company, to start, but a marketing firm for pharmaceutical companies. They were one of the major players in the early 20th century that revolutionized drug advertisement. Uzo Aduba was excellent in this. I felt Edie’s passion and need to bring Purdue to justice. I felt so bad for Glen. He looked to have got clean on his own, but didn’t appear to be working a program, which would’ve helped, I think. That said, being that he lived in a rural area I don’t know if there would be any rehabs or NA programs he could join. He seemed to have good life before it all went to hell due to his addiction. Very sad.
  4. Not that it helped, but I still loved how Dr. Fitzgibbons handed Shannon her ass when she tried to get him to prescribe Oxytocin. Unfortunately, she is young and dumb. And understandably wanting to make a great living for herself without understanding the consequences of what she’s doing. Glen has already spiraled into addiction without even realizing it but the stepson already knows what’s up. I will say I was stunned by what was said about the FDA, but after the shock I realized it makes sense. Considering the stuff they are approving without it being properly vetted, that is scary, if what was said in this episode is indeed true.
  5. Yuzuru Hanyu Announces Marriage I’m sure many of his more passionate supporters are struggling with this news. He didn’t name his spouse which is odd. But then in the context of who Hanyu is and how many obsession over him I can see why he’d want to keep his spouse out of the media as much as possible. Congratulations to him!
  6. They can think their way out of a paper bag. They just didn’t care and were probably high too. Remember the first individual interviewed who said he was in the room the night before playing cards but left, said that Dino (and his girlfriend), who were there when the shooting happened, were leeches and not good people at all. They didn’t care about the victim probably only cared about what they could get out of him. His mental health issues likely did not help the situation, making him vulnerable to bad characters. They probably finished sleeping off whatever substance they’d been abusing the night before then left the room. I felt bad for him as well as the victim in the other case profiled him this episode. It’s always risky trying to help someone in a domestic dispute and/or violent situation. Her instinct was to immediately help her friend, but calling the police was probably the safer option.
  7. I binged watched this while finishing up some work last night. I wouldn’t say I am a fan of Arnold’s but I’ve enjoyed many of his movies mainly because of the genres and the plots were good. Never was a fan of his body. Yes his body was amazing, but at the same time too much. I was surprised he didn’t talk about his steroid usage during his body building days. It was obvious that he was using as all serious bodybuilders use. That’s the only way they can obtain so much muscle mass and perfect bodies. As I understand he admitted his usage in the past. So again, surprising he didn’t mention it here unless I missed it I thought it was obvious how much he loves America. His approach to politics was refreshing. Interesting though how the sexual harassment and assault accusations against him were a scandal but didn’t tank his campaign, maybe because there was such a short period between campaigning and the election. I believe the story officially came out only a month before the election. Also, it was a different time. #Me Too had not happened. Perhaps if he ran a few years later there would have been issues but then again maybe not considering other elected officials have been elected with those types of allegations hanging over their heads. I do find it kind of surprising that he hasn’t been cancelled due to those past allegations. Observation, did I see Grace Jones at his wedding reception? Grace partying with the Kennedys is an interesting combination. 😂 I can see why Maria was suspicious about Joseph being Arnold’s son. He looks EXACTLY like a young Arnold. My take away, Arnold is an extremely driven guy who has the natural ability to lock away what many would deem as trauma and focus on the positive and being successful. Perhaps his motto of keep moving forward, keep busy, be useful is his way of dealing with the abuse he suffered as a child without even realizing it. I got the impression that he was not close to his brother or dad which is why their deaths seemed to have minimal impact on him. He is an intelligent man who seems to admit his mistakes and strives to be a good person. He has certainly had an extraordinary life. I liked how he didn’t take credit for being self made and pointed out that he had a lot of help in reaching success. I enjoyed this.
  8. Just watched the most recent episode - Back Street. Does anyone think the victim’s Home Heath job was code for prostitution? I just found it odd that he was bringing all these women to his cousin’s house for what seemed like sex and texted his co-worker about making $100 to “dance”. The cousin claimed the victim was taking a revolving door of women to the back room to presumably have sex with them. Was he a sex addict? Or was prostitution going on in that house, run by the victim and perhaps the cousin too? However the cousin tried to down play it as being the victim cheating with a lot of women. Very odd situation. So the suspect killed the victim why? Because he (the suspect) was high and felt like starting a fight that night? Senseless. SMH. I guess there is something to be said for the suspect not wanting his girlfriend to go to prison for his abhorrent act but he still killed someone over nothing.
  9. This. I knew of Donna Summer but I had no idea about her life and didn't know much about her career besides a few songs. This documentary didn't provide much insight. Like others I didn't think this was well done. It dropped in tidbits about her life, but was mainly a recap of all her music, which was great but I was expecting more. They did label who was talking. It was in the bottom left corner of the screen when the person started talking. It was a bit odd as most of the time with these documentaries they'll show the person who is talking and identify them with text on screen while they are on camera, but this documentary didn't do that. I'm guessing most of the people talking in this were interviewed over the phone maybe, which is why we didn't see everyone who was talking?
  10. I think everyone who was saying her mother was horrible said that’s what Anna told them about her mother and that she hated her. It wasn’t their conclusion but what Anna told them. I wondered about Daniel while she was dancing. It makes sense that her mother would’ve been taking care of him. The documentary implied her friend, whom she’d met while dancing, moved into her house and took care of Daniel after Anna’s career took off and seemed to be her live in babysitter/assistant for years until the relationship collapsed. Regarding Larry Birkhead, I never knew he was with her early on in her pregnancy. The impression I got from his own account of the relationship was that they messed around a few times before she ghosted him. From this I came to believe the relationship was not the love story he has claimed it was. Though the documentary tried to downplay Howard K. Stern’s sleaziness it was obvious he was trash. I didn’t think too highly of Anna’s doctor either. Was he actually supplying her with methadone while she was pregnant? I questioned why he was speaking about her medical history too as patients are still protected by HIPPA even in death. But then concluded that this information may be public record considering he faced criminal charges over supplying her with drugs. So he could speak about her medical history and treatments without repercussions.
  11. Whew. I just finished watching this. What a sad tragic mess. So did Anna Nicole grow up in Houston or Mexia? Her mother said Houston but her uncle said Mexia. Poor Anna. Her father was a disgusting POS. Was side-eying her half brother who’d just said his father was a rapist. Then attempted to deny his father tried to assault Anna but then turned around and admitted it was possible. Sometimes an absent parent is absent for a reason. Also, meeting a parent for the first time in 24 years almost never ends well. Interesting that Mr. Marshall was banking her Hollywood life and success. And when he died there was nothing, no money, no protection, no nothing. Of course her drug addiction didn’t help. You’re only bankable if you’re a functioning addict. The minute the celebrity goes off the rails they’re dumped by Hollywood, which at the end of the day is understood as they’re running a business not a rehab. Howard Stern’s pool about her weight was disgusting. When she lost the weight for TrimSpa she was too small. She looked better when she was heavier ie when she modeled for Guess. The revelation about Larry Birkhead was shocking. I knew they weren’t these star-crossed lovers like he always claims. But her assistant went so far as to say she couldn’t stand him and she wanted him to leave her alone. Dam. Bottom line she was a tragic mess. Sadly, the best thing that could’ve happened to her daughter MAY have been Anna’s death. Harsh. I know. But look what tragically happened to Daniel. Poor kid never had a chance. With Anna’s addiction issues, which seem to be the main source of her problems, Dannielynn was destined for many hardships if raised by her mother. Her life with Larry Birkhead seems stable. I hope what seems to be for her, is true. Hopefully her life will be vastly different (more productive and positive) than her mother’s life. One last thought, did anyone think Howard K. Stern’s sister stopped short of revealing he was gay when she talked about him not having a relationship with Anna?
  12. This. My problem with the doctor besides him calling that cute puppy a “stupid beast” and having it confined to a cage, the torture and utter disrespect towards George, was that his “treatments” did not include any attempt to have George continue to interact with his family and others. It was complete isolation, especially the last sessions. I wonder what would’ve been his game plan if he’d succeeded in breaking George like he planned? Cause George would’ve been no use to the country or Charlotte if that happened. His mind would’ve been gone. Would the doctor have tried to skip town? Cause surely there would’ve been hell to pay had his treatments resulted in George becoming completely incapacitated. @DearEvette I thought George suffered from severe anxiety disorder, which can include delusions. For his episodes seemed to be triggered by him becoming upset, stressed or having anxiety.
  13. Speaking of the clothing, did Charlotte end up wearing the wedding dress that was made in Paris after all ? I wouldn’t think she’d be so bold considering the situation, but upon rewatch I noticed that before the wedding she was being fitted for her wedding gown as George’s mother directed. This was the same plain beige gown she had on when attempting to run away. However, her wedding gown was completely different and quite beautiful I might add. Just wondering if anyone else had the same thought.
  14. Knowing Charlotte she probably told them exactly how her hair should be done. 😂 I think both ladies know exactly what’s up. Lady Danbury thought to explain, but then changed her mind and encouraged Violet to leave out the hats. I took that to mean that she would not explain what had happened in the past in that moment, but she didn’t regret what happened either. As to how Violet feels about what she’s learned, she didn’t seem totally comfortable in that moment. She’s probably still processing the fact that her father cheated on her mother with her closest friend. I wouldn’t be surprised if the consequence of this revelation comes bubbling to the surface on Bridgerton and as a result causes strain in their friendship.
  15. She had 4 children that survived. Who knows how many pregnancies she'd had over the years since her marriage to Lord Danbury that might've resulted in a miscarriage or stillbirth. I do wonder how long was the time between her husband's death and her affair with Lord Ledger. Depending on the timing it is possible she could've had a 5th child, but the baby still ended up being Lord Danbury's. Considering he died on top of her, mid act.
  16. Yep. Nicholas Nardini wrote episode 4. Though it gave the audience George’s perspective and conveyed that his illness was not new, I agree it was probably the weakest of the six. Did it though? After Lord Ledger broke it off with her, she was excited about moving on with Queen Charlotte’s brother as it would clear up the uncertainty about her future. However, I think after her discussion with Princess Augusta who encouraged her not to lose control of her fate, to battle and endure I think Lady Danbury started to really think about her life and the future SHE wanted for herself. She’d already told Coral that she’d been promised to Lord Danbury as a child and as a result didn’t really know who she was because she was raised to enjoy only the things he enjoyed. She was raised to be an extension of him, not to be herself. I think after her talk with Princess Augusta it brought her back to that thought, reminded her of what she truly wanted, which was to breathe her own air instead someone else’s and to discover who she was without a man. Indeed. Any other woman would’ve enjoyed the wealth and societal perks of being married to a prestigious aristocrat but being that he was a King, she had to try and make it work on some level for she needed to at least produce an heir and a spare. Speaking of the heirs I thought out of the 13 of them at least one, heck maybe even two would’ve been traditional in having a solid marriage and a couple of kids but they were all “virgins” and “whores”. Lol. And perhaps they all turned out so non traditional because of the mental illness of their father? Though I don’t know how much of an impact that would’ve had since they likely didn’t see much of either one of their parents and were raised by nannies. The show threw in a few little fun nuggets some historical and some for the story threads. The ones that stood out to me and which I appreciated. When Princess Agatha was discussing her assessment of Agatha with court officials and was complaining about her brownness one court official reminded her that Charlotte had a Moors background The court ladies making disparaging remarks about Queen Charlotte’s taste in music as the young protege Mozart brilliantly played the piano, per the Queen’s request as she enjoyed his music and found him to be talented. I had to laugh at the ladies of the court ignorance. For those who watch Bridgerton, I think Simon and Daphne have had another baby as in EP2 Violet was taking care of their son , but she was also holding another baby in her arms that looked as if he/she could be a sibling to little Augie. Charlotte refusing to drink alcohol due to her 2nd pregnancy. I guess it could be argued that she is well aware of the power of alcohol and concluded that it might not be good for her pregnancy, even though there was no scientific data to back that up at that time. My understanding is during that period women continued to drink, smoke etc. while pregnant as they didn’t know the negative affects it could have on the baby. George joining Charlotte while she was giving birth. This was absolutely unheard of back then. But we saw it on this show. That was actually one of my favorite George moments, not only him helping her through the birth, but when he remind the Archbishop of where his bread is buttered and told him move out of his way. Loved it! Forgot to add, Kris Bowers once again did an excellent job with the score and I’m not just talking about the modern pop hits turned into classical masterpieces I’m talking his original works. My two favorites this season was the song that played at the beginning of the first episode and the song that played during Charlotte and George’s wedding. The latter being really lovely.
  17. I hope more people are watching this show than commenting, because it truly is worth the watch. I started the series yesterday and finished today. This is the best series out of the three that takes place in the Bridgerton universe. I think the reason why its so good is because Shonda Rhimes wrote almost every episode except for one and every episode had the same director. That right there ensure good consistency with storylines, character behaviors, motivations and development as well as the look of the show. The storylines were pretty tight, which I think having only 2-3 main characters to focus on helped to achieve. I enjoyed all of the romances on the show. Lady Danbury and Lord Ledger, Brimsley and Reynolds. What happened to Reynolds I wonder? I'm assuming he's dead considering Brimsley's age but who knows. I hope he and Brimsley were able to have years together before the relationship ended for whatever reason. George and Charlotte were sexy, fun, hearbreaking and realistic. That last scene with them under the bed as individuals now in their twilght years was...tears. So sweet. I loved Queen Charlotte's fight. She came in green and little immature, but by the end of the series she'd grown into a capable woman who was learning how to handle her husband, her mother in law and her subjects. We didn't get any story with George being kingly due to the focus being mostly on his farming and mental illness. Though historians, I think, now believe he might've been bi-polar, on the show it sort of plays like he has severe anxiety issues as the attacks he suffered always came on when he was upset, stressed and/or anxious. I felt so sorry for his struggles. And often wondered if he had any siblings who could take the throne, due to his ongoing mental health issues. Lady Danbury almost stole the show. She was awesome! However, I cannot say enough how horrifying it was to see her being rode like a horse by Lord Danbury. He was just gross. I did see a picture of the actor who played Lord Danbury and was releived to see that he looks nothing like that in real life. I honestly don't know how he and the actress who played Lady Danbury kept a straight face while filming togehter as he looked so horrific. Lol. Anyway, Lady Danbury was smart, strategic and really was the one who helped ensure that those titles being bestowed upon herself and other people of color in England went so much further than the royal family intended. I really enjoyed how the show didn't just stop at the royal family granting people of color in England titles, they started to explore how it went beyond just titles that tradition meant that anyonr granted titles were also granted land to go with those titles, and then what happens when the Lord of the house dies, what's the line of succession? Will that wealth be allowed to be passed on within the family? If so, how? Very interesting topics. I also liked how the show didn't shy away from the racism within the Ton about Charlotte becoming Queen and people of color being invited into their societal circles. Of course there was racism within the royal family too as the King's mother told the painter to paint Charlotte light so she could "glow" which was a direct counter to Charlotte's request to be painted darker. I loved how they had Queen Charlotte wearing a head rag to bed, that her hair was bushy and often in an afro, and that they had to put special rollers in her hair to style it each day. subtle things but nice. Lastly, I liked how the sole focus of the show was the women, their happiness, their struggles, their strategies, their growth. Great show all around. Kudos to Shonda.
  18. That's one area where this series missed the mark. We did not need Lady Whistledown's snark here. The writers could've easily presented what was up with Queen Charlotte and her family without it. It didn't take anything away from the show having Lady Whistledown's commentary, but it didn't add any susbstance either.
  19. I thought I saw a spark between Lady Danbury and Lord Ledger when they first met but wow….they had an affair! I’m shocked. But loving it. I wonder what Violet would think if she learned what happened? Speaking of which their “garden in bloom” conversation was hilarious and poignant. I really enjoy their friendship. How does the king have time to farm and obsess over constellations. And worse be tortured in the basement for weeks without anyone noticing he’s missing his obligations? Does he not have a court to run, affairs of the country to attend to? So glad Charlotte went there and put a stop to the craziness going on with that quack doctor. I understand George wants to be healed from his illness but the power he was allowing that doctor to have over him was dangerous. I’m liking how they are exploring the potential ramifications of Lord Danbury dying. What it means for the line of succession for people of color in England. It really reflects how the royal family bringing the other side into the Ton was not thought through which of course was the intention as it was just for show anyway.
  20. Lord Danbury’s death was hilarious, yet a relief. I was so happy to see Lady Danbury finally be free of him. That said, I wonder where their kids are? Off at boarding school? I liked how she kind of schooled Queen Charlotte on what was at stake if she didn’t start using her power to influence. Queen Charlotte is very young and as a result doesn’t quite understand what she represents not just as Queen but as the first black Queen of England. It’s good that Lady Danbury is a trusted confidant who is there to school her. Loved how Violet shut down her mom’s “they are different speech” by pointing out that the Danbury’s and others like them are just as wealthy or more wealthy than many white families in the Ton. Being that her father has taken a liking to Lady Danbury I can see how their friendship might develop. So sad that George is already starting to exhibit mental illness. His obsession with astronomy and farming I thought was a sign of his instability but I was hoping to be wrong. The end of this episode proved otherwise.
  21. Agreed. She is beautiful. I can’t wait to see how her friendship with Queen Charlotte develops. But poor Lady Danbury. The horror of having to do her wifely duties with that…yikes. SMH. I wonder if like Charlotte she was the victim of an arranged marriage. George is so charming. I can understand why Charlotte changed her mind. Though really her plan to escape was half baked. I felt bad for her when she greeted her brother as he was leaving after the reception. He was respectful but cold. At that point he was no longer her brother but a royal subject. It must’ve been so difficult for women back then being forced to leave everything they knew to marry a man they barely knew in an another country where oftentimes they didn’t know the customs or language. Things were going so well until the wedding night. Nice twist though having things go left after George and Charlotte initially hit it off. Great start to the series. I’m enjoying all the characters and look forward to seeing where this goes.
  22. @gesundheit I think they’re supposed to be in Southern California but as you said it does at times, have an urban New York City feel. I agree about Dan not being clear about his expectations and I don’t think we’ve seen Alex be clear either about what she’s looking for. Which is odd considering they’ve slept together how many times now? And spent a day together at the beach. I don’t think Alex has been led on as even if Dan didn’t say I’m sure she saw that shiny wedding band on his finger. But as you said, he’s not made it clear that he’s just looking for sex and nothing more either. I do think they’re attempting to make Dan sympathetic in the current timeline via his interactions with his daughter and the relationship therapy book or whatever it is his daughter is listening to along with her therapy sessions. I guess they’re trying to show how he rebuilds his life and relationships after being imprisoned for 10 years. Arguably it could be an interesting story thread if played right, but I think the more interesting story is what exactly happened to Alex and did he kill her or not. His relationship with his ex-wife and daughter should be the C or D story as we’ve seen more interactions between him and Alex and him and his work buddies than his family. Thus I’m not really invested in those relationships at this point.
  23. I thought this series would give more insight into Dan’s decision to have an affair with Alex. Unfortunately it has not and he’s still as much a cheating ass as he was in the movie. He seemed to have a solid marriage. But decided to cheat because the opportunity was presented to him on a silver platter. Not unheard of for many men (and women) in real life but still not making his character sympathetic at all. Not that the writers are trying to make him sympathetic. Just saying though. I did find his handling of Alex’s suicide attempt interesting. Though he took her to get help, he really didn’t want her to get help for obvious reasons. Their affair would be exposed and his career would be ruined. Hence he kept asking her what she wanted to do. If he truly wanted to help he wouldn’t have kept asking if she wanted to go get help he would’ve taken her without hesitation. Then after all that he leaves her alone for the night. SMH. I understand he was between a rock and hard place but what a mess. So Dan is going to attempt to clear his name and prove he did not kill Alex. Everyone is assuming this will align with the original ending of the movie but I’m kind of feeling like they may throw in a different twist. I guess we’ll see. The critics are right about this being a slow burn. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. And it doesn’t look and feel modern like I thought it should. Perhaps that’s because they’re attempting to play homage to the movie.
  24. Perhaps Amy can rebuild but I’m not sure about Danny. If he wakes up from that coma he may not be able to just thank his lucky stars and go home. He could potentially be facing serious criminal charges.
  25. Agreed. Unfortunately they’ve not done a good job introducing and getting the audience engaged with the minor Bridgertons whose story arcs are expected in the next couple of seasons. As someone else said there’s been too much focus on Lady Whistledown and the Featheringtons. But hopefully they’ll start to fall off after this season. I think the writers need to start to pivot towards other characters whom they have planned future story arcs to keep the audience interested.
