  1. He looks like her father rather than her husband. But perhaps Lady Danbury married a man who was much older than her? Which wouldn’t be unheard of during that time. I’m very interested to see what they do with this show.
  2. I agree with others. This was boring. I made it through the first episode and gave up. The leads had no heat. The husband/dad was a creep. The mistress was trifling as well. Don’t understand what she hoped to accomplish either with this situation besides getting sex which she could get from the son. Also, she looked kind of crazy. 😂 I thought that should’ve been enough for the husband/dad to steer clear of her but some men enjoy the crazy sooo… 😂
  3. If he couldn't convince her to stop the exploitation through personal discussions that's what the court systems are for. Being that she was an alcoholic and he was as I understand a well established business man who was married (he'd remarried after the divorce from Teri), he probably had a strong case for obtaining custody of Brooke. Also, being that he was her father wouldn't he have a say in the projects Brooke did if he chose to have a say? I really don't think he cared how Teri was exploiting Brooke. Or he didn't think there was anything wrong with what she was doing. @kaygeeret Completely agree. I don't understand why a child needs her face made up like an adult and her hair styled like she's about to do a sexy photoshoot for Vogue. To me, heavy make up, swimsuit competition and big hair etc., should be grounds for disqualification in children's beauty pageants.
  4. This. I mean I kind of feel like the writers killed her in such a brutal way to symbolize killing what she represented. A white westerner plundering many cultures by stealing National treasures/artifacts and ideals for her own gain. On top of that having no respect for those whom she was partnering with. Calling them what she felt they should be called rather than their given name. Even failing to respect the name of the iconic chair George’s father had sculpted. She deliberately called it the wrong name which was very disrespectful. Didn’t believe that had the father sculpted it from the mother’s hind-side. She was self important and dismissive. And thought she was cultured because she stole cultural artifacts and had a fetish for Asian women. So ironic that her billions, her panic room and her Asian girlfriend, all that which she thought kept her safe and above the fray, ultimately couldn’t save her and some would argue indirectly led to her demise.
  5. I finished this. It was entertaining, but overall okay. Crazy how something as simple as a horn being honked led to their lives and everyone around them lives being ruined with a couple of people ending up dead. But it resonates so much with our world today, especially here in the U.S. People are assaulted or killed over the most minuscule thing and it’s due in part to the rage people carry, which is why Amy and Danny ended up where they did. Though I thought the show was just okay, I did think it did a great job at subtly using their Asian culture to provide reasoning behind some of the characters’ actions. Eastern cultures, specifically Koreans and Chinese, are very much about taking care of their parents and not disappointing their parents. This was the reason why Danny was trying to get loans and scamming the church etc because he was obligated as the oldest son to bring his parents back from Korea and take care of them. Also, Amy feeling like saying what she truly feels was considered complaining, which can be common in Asian culture. Many times it’s expected that one quietly work through a difficult situation rather than voicing concerns about it. And of course Isaac the denigrate who’d been essentially disowned by his parents due to him being an utter disappointment. He mentioned this a few times throughout the series. This too is common in Asian cultures. You become a disappointment and “shame” the family you are disowned. Jordan was…whew. Very offensive everytime she opened her mouth. She had no respect for Amy or her husband. Never said his name right. The only right thing that came out of her mouth is that everything fades. Again, okay show. Very unpredictable. Is it worth a watch? I say it depends on the person. I think most either will love it or hate it. I think there will be few who land in the middle. I don’t think it needs another season. If there is one I’d likely not watch.
  6. Danny should’ve turned off the carbon monoxide alarm. It would’ve made his attempt to off himself more peaceful and thus resulted in success. 😂 Can’t believe Amy let some random in her house just because he was claiming to be a handyman. I can understand why Danny is so pressed to the point that he’d let his rage get out of control. Not so much with Amy. I get she’s stressed about home life and work but I don’t get why she’d take things to the extreme especially after getting him back for the peeing incident.
  7. I may have misheard but I thought they said the pictures were originally published in Playboy? I was appalled this wasn’t illegal as well whether her mom gave consent or not. Then I remembered some crime documentaries I watched were the Dating Game Killer (?) served time twice for raping children under the age of 9. But this monster only served about a year or two for each crime. So it makes sense that the law and society didn’t blink an eye over this. Also it wasn’t too far in the past, before 1975 - when the pics were taken, that 12 and 14 year olds were married off to old men for breeding purposes. And then there were all those actors and rock stars from that period (and before) who were dating girls who were barely 16 or younger. It was certainly a different world back then and for many years to follow, where many didn’t seem to have a problem with men dating or marrying girls, and children being exploited. I had to rewind the part where she said she’d encouraged Brooke’s sensuality since she was a baby. I thought ‘Say What?’ I know I didn’t hear what I think I did. Unfortunately I did. I did find it interesting how Brooke kind of played down what her mom did to her. And even how her father didn’t seem to care enough to stop the exploitation. Any father who gave a dam about his daughter would not have tolerated what Teri did to Brooke. I do wonder if her lack of displeasure, even anger over what her mom did (and her dad didn’t do) is a coping mechanism to keep her mental health in a good place. Or perhaps she raged out on what happened to her years ago and now she’s at peace with it.
  8. I just finished watching this episode. Like you, I too am very skeptical when family members swear up and down that their family member would not commit suicide. However, this case was suspicious from the start to me. If Tory wanted to die there were a number of ways she could've hurt herself besides asking her BFF to kill her, which would in turn result in him being imprisoned for at least most of his life. Then his story about her saying she was going to find some random person to kill her sounded even more ridiculous. Again, if she wanted to die there were ways to do it without the need for assistance. The detective concluded that the suspect didn't plan to kill Tory and that it was an accident. I don't buy this at all. If he didn't plan something nefarious from the start, why not leave his phone on? Also, they said she was shot in the temple which also makes me skeptical of an accident. Moreover, he had no feeings about her death, none. Everytime he was interviewed it was like he was talking about the weather. Even when he put himself at the scene of her supposed "suicide" he expressed no emotion after "witnessing" his BFF commit such a devasting act. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was a sociopath in the making. He wanted a gun so he could use it. Sadly, he decided to use it on her. What was also sad was the boyfriend whom Tory had been dating did not respond to her family or the police when they reached out about her being missing. They'd been dating for (3) months. You'd think he would've had some care for her, but unforutnately he didn't considering his lack of response surrounding her disappearance.
  9. Her speaking out on this was extremely progressive for the time. Glad she had the courage to be honest about her experience as I’m sure it helped a lot of women. I must admit when they showed the clip of Tom Cruise spouting his ignorant nonsense about Brooke’s experience and PPD, I was little taken aback as I’d forgotten how BSC he looked during that rant when he really thought he knew what he was talking about. A man who never has and never will carry a baby or experience the hormonal changes a woman experiences during and after pregnancy. Anyway, I did finish this. The first part was difficult the 2nd part was more tolerable. I’m amazed that Brooke turned out as well as she did considering how she was exploited. Ironically enough, though her mom was the main one leading the charge of that exploitation, she also seemed to be very protective of Brooke which undoubtedly prevented her from being completely used up and crushed by Hollywood as so many child celebrities are.
  10. I started watching this, but I don't know if I'll finish it. It's really disgusting how her mom exploited her, even how the industry exploited her. People in the documentary talked about how Brooke's mom was heavily scrutinized for the Pretty Baby movie, but not the director. I get that argument. However, the buck stopped with the mom. She allowed her 10 year old daughter to be sexualized. That's what she had control over. If she'd said no, hell if all stage moms said no to this type of behavior, the directors wouldn't be able to do what they do in sexualizing children.
  11. This. If I was him I might would consider doing some type of ritual to ward off an early demise. It’s so unusual to hear about a band/group losing nearly all of its members at such young ages and it not be due to substance abuse. Devin and Rich dying from illness and this latest member dying. Very creepy and a little scary.
  12. NBC seems to be pushing most FS coverage to their sister station Peacock. I believe they aired the full competitions live for the Olympics and Worlds. Of course if the competitions take place on the other side of the world folks here in the U.S. would have to watch in the middle of the night if they don’t want to watch the horrible coverage on NBC. Also, Peacock had full replay of all the FS disciplines available on that app. This year’s Worlds they did this as well. They had the full competition for SP available for men’s, ladies’s and dance. They did not have anything out there for pairs unless they put it out there after I logged off the app. For the free skate and dance they only had the last two flights available for replay. Don’t know why they didn’t have the full competition available. Also, they only had the replays available for 10 hours which was odd. At least with the Olympics they’d have the replay available for several days, maybe even a couple of weeks. Not sure why they don’t do the same for Worlds. I’m never available to watch the competitions live and have no interest in watching the selective evening coverage by NBC. So the Peacock app is a great option for me.
  13. As should’ve happened with Ilia. He has no presence whatsoever. And you are right. He is like Nathan Chen circa 2016. All jumps and not much else. Nathan improved but not much IMO when it comes to artistry. But the jumps and consistency is what pushed him ahead of the pack. Shoma is so mesmerizing to watch. Such quality skating above the competition. The only person on his level is Jason Brown and unfortunately he doesn’t have the quads. Otherwise his skating and presence is superb. Glad for Shoma though. Back to back world champion! Great to see Juhnwan finally come into his own. Even though he’s only 21 it seems as if he’s been competing forever but with no world medal. Finally he earns one. I think his FS was the best I’ve seen him perform. Hopefully that will continue. With ID I really thought the gold could’ve gone to C/B or the Italians. I didn’t think C/B were that far ahead of the competition. But congrats to them on defending their title. The Italians had some interesting lifts. Loved the facial expressions of Charlene. Her dramatics reminded me of some of the ID divas from back in the day who often deployed the exaggerated facial expressions in their performances. Lol Happy for Kaori’s back to back win but I felt she held back emotionally during that skate. Perhaps the nerves got to her being in front of the home crowd. Haein rightfully won the FS as she was perfect. Really enjoyed Kim Chaeyon. I think there’s so much potential in her. Can’t wait to see how her skating and performance matures over the next few years. Isabaeu seems to have the tools to be the total package but she needs more work on her artistry and blending her jumps within the program. As of right now you can see a jump coming a mile away. Hopefully the media will hold off on crowning her as the next great hope for ladies Figure skating in the US. I was stunned and annoyed to hear Terry say she is the expected front runner from the US at the next Winter Games. The kid just won her first senior championship at Nationals, has yet to win an international title and the next winter games is three years away. A lot can happen between now and then. I think it’s premature to be having those type of expectations for her and thus inciting unnecessary pressure. SMH. Though I don’t miss the Russians I think the ladies overall are stagnant technically. There’s no one pushing the sport right now. All of the ladies are humming along at the status quo even with artistry. Hopefully things will improve over the next couple of years.
  14. This episode sounds interesting. I don’t think I’ve seen this one. Do you recall the city and season for this episode? The new episode in Tulsa last week was crazy with the brother and sister pretending to want to buy drugs from the victim when their goal was to rob him. There was a detective in this episode whom I’d not seen before. I liked how in one of his talking heads he said how the victim was obviously not doing the right thing by selling drugs but these are hard financial times and that just because he was a drug dealer didn’t mean he deserved to die. The female suspect was a trip. I mean what she said was true that the detectives only cared about solving their case then they’d go home and live life with their families not having a second thought about her. But her demanding they get her a deal so she could go home too was ridiculous. She was all over that crime. They had the texts and video to prove it. Maybe she and her brother didn’t intend for the robbery to turn into a murder. But she made her bed. Now she has to face the consequences.
  15. The previews for this looked good. Unfortunately nothing could be further from the truth. This was pretty bad, from the dialogue, to the storylines to the CGI. Nearly all the characters were annoying and unlikeable. Thus I’ll be stopping here. Won’t be watching anymore of this series.
  16. I agree with others. This docu-series was a waste of time. I thought that might be the case when reading the synopsis but watched anyway. The guy insistent that the Russian’s were somehow involved was a disgrace as was the adventurer and world traveler who went in search of debris from the crash as if it was his duty. I think whatever happened was deliberate by the pilot being that the plane turned off its flight path. Perhaps it was a murder suicide with the pilot turning from the flight path then releasing the pressure inside the cabin causing everyone, including himself to develop hypoxia. From there the plane flew on autopilot until it ran out of gas and crashed over the ocean. This is such a tragedy for the families I cannot imagine their grief and how difficult it is to move on not really knowing what happened. I’m sure all these crazy conspiracy theories have not helped. Then not having their family members bodies to be able to say a real goodbye I’m sure made their grief more difficult as well. After so much time I hope they’ve found some peace.
  17. I agree. As his parents ended up with custody of the granddaughter but as stated Hannah’s parents seemed to cause unnecessary drama for their granddaughter when they called the Belgium authorities on the father’s mother who flew there, took custody of the granddaughter and planned to return to the U.S. with her as he (the father) was locked up at the time. However, with Hannah’s parents calling the authorities the granddaughter was temporarily removed from the father’s mother and placed in “foster-care” with another military family until the case was sorted out. There was no mention of Hannah’s parents fighting for custody of the granddaughter. So their actions came off as vindictive rather than helpful. But again, Dateline likely left out a huge part of the story surrounding the granddaughter’s custody situation after her father was arrested.
  18. Yeah. I think both the prosecutors and the defense presented compelling cases thus I would’ve voted not guilty. There was too much reasonable doubt for me, based on the evidence highlighted in this episode, to conclude she was absolutely murdered. That’s not to say her husband wasn’t a POS. I did find the story about Hanna’s family calling the authorities on the husband’s mom when she attempted to take custody of the granddaughter and take her back to the U.S., per the husband’s request because he was locked up, strange. Only for the husband’s family to get custody after a couple months anyway. It didn’t sound like Hannah’s family attempted to get custody but we’re just trying to throw a monkey wrench in the husband’s family getting custody. That story sounded incomplete as it didn’t quite make sense to me.
  19. Yeah. I was reading an article earlier today where a man who was on the jury stated that Alex lying about when the murders happened and the evidence showing he was at the kennels moments before the murders happened was what clinched it for him. As far as no one making victim impact statements about Paul and Maggie’s murders I think there are a number of reasons. From there being no one who cared enough to speak, to those who are sadden about the murders but don’t believe Alex did it, to perhaps some believing he did it but are afraid to go against him in making a statement in asking he be severely punished for what he did. Though Alex is now off to prison I don’t know how much that will diminish the Murdaugh’s power in the Low Country. Time will tell but I’m sure though many are happy to see Alex go down there’s still a lot of fear about crossing him and his family.
  20. This was a great docu-drama. Njinga was intelligent, strategic, extremely tough and courageous. I’ve not read the biography on her but have bought the book from Amazon and plan to read. Despite this being a great watch, it was difficult because knowing history Njinga’s long fight though valiant would not end the way she desired, at least not long term. Eventually the Portuguese would get their way. I hope this will be a series that adds future seasons that explores the history of other African Queens and black female leaders of the Caribbean during the 18th and 19th centuries.
  21. I saw an article about this from Vanity Fair (see below) and didn’t see anything in that article that said they’d not taken what they’d uncovered i.e.“previously unreported skeletons” in Alex’s closet to authorities. Perhaps this was stated in another interview the producers did about the series? They did say they did not have enough time in the allotted three episodes to explore all they’d uncovered so they are hoping for more episodes. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2023/02/murdaugh-murders-netflix-interview I will say I thought a couple of the theories presented in these three episodes didn’t make sense. If the housekeeper was murdered, I don’t think it was because she discovered Alex’s Oxy pills under a couch or because she knew too much as implied. She’d been working for that family for 20 years. She’d seen I’m sure many nefarious things and kept her mouth shut. If she was murdered it was for the insurance money. And since Alex wasn’t present when the incident happened, that would mean Maggie and/or Paul were in on the scheme. Also, the theory around Eddie didn’t make sense. In the series they seemed to be implying Alex paid Eddie large sums of money before and after Maggie and Paul were murdered. Thus Eddie was their killer. Alex then called this guy to the remote dirt road planning to kill him for what…to tie up loose ends over the murders? But then claim Eddie tried to kill him but he managed to get the upper hand and kill Eddie first? That still wouldn’t tie up a loose end being there are financial records showing Alex paid Eddie large sums of money before and after the murders which would implicate Alex in the crime. I’m more inclined to believe the money paid to Eddie was for trafficking drugs than for the murders of Maggie and Paul. Not sure what the failed “suicide” attempt was really about but the theory present in this series didn’t make sense to me.
  22. Watched this while working today. The biggest difference from the HBO documentary was the heavy focus on Mallory Beach, her relationships with her friends, the boating crash and the civil attorney’s investigation. We did get more insight into Paul but it wasn’t anything shocking just more confirmation that he was a spoiled brat who was a POS. A shotgun and AR-15 was used in the murders of Maggie and Paul. I know it’s being reported that evidence shows Alex was at the scene when the murders happened, but the use of two guns makes me wonder if there were two shooters. Was it him and someone else? Or two people who’ve not been identified? I’m guessing it’d most likely be the former rather than the latter if there were indeed two shooters. I wouldn’t have been suspicious of the housekeeper falling down the stairs until Alex lied about speaking to her about the fall before she was rushed to the hospital when he wasn’t there when the incident happened. Also, him taking out a commercial insurance policy a month before the incident then swindling her family out of the insurance money made her death highly suspicious. I do wonder what happened to the millions of dollars he stole. He definitely didn’t spend all that money on drugs. He didn’t use it to paying bills cause apparently Maggie discovered that he wasn’t paying their bills. He didn’t use it all either to pay the guy whom he claimed to have hired to kill him. So where did the money go? Has there been an investigation to track where that money has went? Following the money will certainly provide some answers I think to many questions that have not yet been answered.
  23. I caught the last flight of ladies competing in Four Continents. Despite a couple of skaters having falls I think the skates were overall strong. I enjoyed Kim Ye-lim the most. Beautiful skating loved her choreography. Haein Lee was did very well. Nice skate and well deserved win but I thought she looked to skate a lot slower than the other ladies. Chaeyeon Kim has a lot of skill. If she develops good artistry I think she has the potential to be a force in the sport. I also enjoyed Amber Glenn. She was my second favorite of the night. Too bad she had those mistakes. She really has a wonderful presence on the ice. Bradie Tennell looked good. It’s amazing that she’s come back so strong after being out two years with an injury. I hope she will continue to improve.
  24. So I just rewatched this case and looked it up to see if there’s been any progress. The suspect got off due to a hung jury. I feared this would happen as the evidence shown in the episode didn’t seem all that solid. However, he was convicted of leaving the scene of an accident and shooting into an occupied vehicle. I’m baffled by this. How the hell did they convict this guy of shooting into an occupied vehicle (a vehicle in which an occupant was injured and died due to him shooting in it) but failed to convict him of murder? Make it make sense. He did get sentenced to 10 years in prison but only has to serve two. SMH. The prosecution says they’ll retry him for the murder but time will tell if they are able to follow through with that promise. https://www.fox10tv.com/2022/06/23/road-rage-murder-trial-ends-with-split-jury-defendant-still-heading-prison/
  25. I’m not a fan of Pamela’s but I’m not an anti-fan either. I am indifferent to her but was curious about this documentary and watched. I agree. It was good. Pamela came off relatable and authentic. I knew nothing about her life, but was still shocked to learn about the abuse and trauma she suffered and witnessed as a child. I’m surprised that trauma isn’t more evident in her life and personality. It’s crazy how kids who grow up in an abusive household oftentimes find themselves in abusive relationships as adults. I’ve always read that Tommy Lee is very charismatic. So I guess that’s why she fell for him. But he was an abusive, self-centered asshole. I was amazed that Pamela left him after he attacked her while holding Dylan as sadly many women would’ve stayed. I loved what she said about men and how they will sometimes begin to hate a woman who’s not what they think she ought to be. Also loved the fact that she would not hesitate to let a man know that she was with him because she wants him not because she needs him and can/will walk out without hesitation. I mean dam. Lol. She seemed very self-aware and made some interesting comments about men and relationships. I liked that she didn’t wear a stitch of makeup in this. She’s aging well IMO. Her boys seem well adjusted. I think she raised them in Canada so that likely helped. She’s still looking for true and healthy love, but sadly she divorced her 4th husband (who was shown at the start of the documentary) last year. She still loves Tommy but knows he’s toxic and won’t go there again. Maybe she’ll find the love she’s looking for one day. @Bastet and sadly this, I think, is what many guys whom she dated or married expected too. For her to be this blowup doll who didn’t have a mind of her own, was an airhead who had to be told when what and how, and was there to be their sexual fantasy. When they realized she was a real person with her own thoughts and feelings the relationships would become volatile leading to abuse and a breakup or quietly implode.
