  1. This is annoying me so much. I wasn't about to get up at 4am, EST to watch, but planned to watch the replay but of course it's not available. Sorry NBC that's not going get me to watch your awful primetime coverage. In fact, I've not watched the Olympic coverage on TV since they started providing coverage on the app. It's so much better on the app in that the commentary more neutral and you actually get to see nearly all of the competitors. I'll just wait for them to put the replay up tomorrow and watch then. Congrats to Simone on her bronze. And looks like the Chinese ladies were finally able to win a medals too. Congrats to them as well.
  2. I knew the 200m was Thompson-Herah's race to lose (probably the 100m) too. She flies on the track. I knew no one would be able to catch her. I was hoping Gabby Thomas could've snagged the silver and Fraser-Pryce the bronze, but I'm so proud of Thomas on her bronze. This is Fraser-Pryce's last Olympics, but it's so impressive that she's still a threat at 35 years old. She definitely had nothing to prove being that she is so decorated. So cool that they have a live feed for the medal winners to see their families after their competition. Great idea! So glad they get some "live" interaction with their families after competing.
  3. She looked great at the start. Her and Camacho were neck and neck but then she looked to have ran out a gas a little bit. I think they said she might’ve hit the 8th hurdle, which could’ve slowed her down a bit. Anyway congrats to her and the other ladies. I enjoyed their sportsmanship after the race was over. They all seemed genuinely happy for each other, no matter their placement on the podium. And even those who didn’t make the podium. The men’s long jump competition was great. Did not expect Greece to take gold. I felt bad for the Cuban who could’ve possibly taken gold, he’d been leading the event. But got injured and couldn’t do the final jump. I also felt for the Jamaican jumper who is world champion and a favorite, but was unable to really jump due to his knee injury. He ended up in 11th. Though it’s amazing to hear how far these athletes are jumping it’s got to be brutal on their knees and have unfortunate long term affects years after they’ve retired from the sport.
  4. I logged onto the NBC Sports App to replay the competition since I was unable to watch live, but the darn replay is not up yet. Argh. Anyway, I was very happy to see that Suni won gold!! So happy for her. And Brazil gets their first gymnastics medal. Is this the first time two women of color have been on the podium? I can't wait until they get the replay up on NBC Sports so that I can go back and watch. Congrats to Suni and Rebecca!!!
  5. Congrats to Hashimoto. That was an awesome bar routine! I thought Xiao from China had a great routine as well. Don't understand how Nikita got a bronze with that sub-par bar routine. I thought Sun Wei should been awarded bronze. Oh well. Too bad about the U.S. men. They weren't even in contention. Overall great competition.
  6. This men's event is a nail bitter. Tong was awesome on the bar! Wow! Yep. I remember this. I hope things are changing, but honestly I doubt it. It there is change it's likely at a snails pace. Weight of Gold was an insightful documentary. Just how much these athletes go through was eye opening. What I thought was most interesting about that documentary was the mental struggle these athletes go through when they are no longer experiencing the high of competition and their lives are no longer consumed by the sport. Making the transition to "regular" life sounded like a very difficult experience for them.
  7. Sun Wei was great on the parallel bars. But looks like his wrist may be bothering him. The parallel bars always look like it hurts like hell, especially when they flip and catch themselves on the bars with their underarms.
  8. I definitely think this is playing a bigger part than most like to admit or understand. Though Olympic athletes train hard all the time my understanding is training leading up to an Olympic year can be a whole other beast, physically and mentally. These athletes were prepared to compete in 2020. Then COVID happened and the Games got postponed, which essentially added another year of training for the Olympics. It had to have taken its toll, more on some, I’m sure, than others. The IOC probably should’ve just scrapped these Games, but we know money is at the root of the decision to push on. Regarding Simone, though I was looking forward to seeing her compete in the AA I’m glad she withdrew. If her head wasn’t in the game so much so that she had to withdraw from the Team event, I doubt she’d been able to mentally get herself together in a couple of days. Hopefully she gets some rest and the mental support she needs. I wonder if they have someone in Tokyo who can provide professional mental support for athletes or will they have to wait until they return home to get professional help?
  9. Speaking of Gabby, I thought I read somewhere that she'd be doing gymnastics commentary at these Games, but have been unable to find anything else on this. I'm thinking someone must've made this up, since she's really not been associated with gymnastics since Rio. Unfortunately, there will always be distractors no matter how reasonable or understandable what has happened may be. I just hope Simone will be okay and doesn't feel that she's let herself or anyone else down (which I'm pretty sure she will feel this way on some level). Hopefully, having these feelings won't cause her further mental anguish.
  10. Agreed. As Michelle Kwan stated so eloquently back in 98 after Nagano, [she] they didn't lose the gold, [she] they won the silver. I do hope Simone will be able to compete in the AA. I feel bad for the Japanese and Italy, they came so close to bronze. Congrats to GB though.
  11. Suni was the best U.S. on FX. She did very well.
  12. I'm just now tuning in, and thus catching up. I was wondering what happened to them. Will any of their team members be competing in the individual all around? I think short of a disaster the ROC got this.
  13. Oh no! Jordan falls on FX. There's no way U.S. will win gold. Are they fighting for silver or bronze now?
  14. Oh no. Grace is out of bounds. SMH. I think the U.S. may need help from the other teams messing up to win gold.
  15. Jordan did well. I don't think she'll get a massive score, but still she did well on the beam.
  16. Wow. I had a feeling something like this was going to happen with Simone. I feel terrible for her. But the pressure is real. Living up to being the GOAT is really unrealistic pressure. Everyone, I mean everyone from the media to the fans have been calling her GOAT and expecting her to win numerous golds at these games. It's unrealistic, and too much pressure. I hope she will be okay.
  17. This. I have the REELZNOW app and it doesn't have any of the latest episodes i.e. Dale Earnhardt,Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, Dennis Hopper etc. and of course none of these episodes are available On Demand via X-Finity. It's very frustrating, but I guess I'll have to wait 6-8 months for them to be released on the app before I can watch. I don't get why they don't release the new episodes on the app immediately like every other network does for their shows. Strange.
  18. They haven’t announced who the Gymnast is yet. But it sucks for whomever it is. This is going to be a tougher Olympics than usual for athletes. Trying to stay focused on their respective sport while worrying about Covid. As others have said they should’ve just cancelled and just planned for the next summer Olympics in 2024. But of course history has shown money is always more important than the safety of human lives. U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team Member Tests Positive for COVID
  19. Elann looked so much like her mom, it was eerie. This. Some people are just not built for this world and I think Elann may have been one of those people. Since she was a child it was said that she always felt like she didn’t get enough love from her parents, specifically her dad. It was said that the parents thought the son hung the moon but didn’t tout her accomplishments. I don’t know if that was true or just Elan’s screwed perception of the situation. Don’t know what her dad was like but her mom came off very warm. I too don’t think she was mistreated. It was very sad hearing about the tragedies the family endured. The poor mom…she’s pretty much lost her entire family. Don’t know if she has any contact with her grandchild. At least she has her husband. Though I know he cannot fill the chasm left by the loss of her children and ex-husband. I agree. I liked her personality. I did agree with the step-father. Elann was broken. I can’t say I was surprised about her ending. She stayed falling down drunk almost 24/7. It reminded me of Robby from S16. Sadly I knew she wouldn’t make it. She’d made her decision to die a long time ago. She was just bidding her time, and building the courage to do it. This was heart wrenching. My thoughts are with her mom.
  20. Agreed. This was about Clayton and she made it about herself. This was a very messy situation. I could understand the mother’s anger and bitterness. I’m sure she felt completely betrayed by her husband’s decision to become a woman. And honestly with this happening in the 1990s when being transgender was taboo, I can see why she kept him away from their kids. I’m sure there was fear as to how it would affect the kids, what the town would think as it was mentioned that they lived in a small town. I’m not saying her choices were right. Honestly I don’t know what the right choice would be in that situation, but I understand why she did what she did. I could understand Lisa wanting to live her truth, but I found her to be extremely selfish in how she handled her transition with regards to her kids and her behavior at the pre-intervention This. His follow up was a little iffy to me. He’d experienced a lot of pain. I hope he is clean.
  21. I’m hoping it’s not a disaster…but yeah. The Olympics has a history of the flu breaking out in the athletes village which means a Covid outbreak is a given, especially if most athletes are not vaccinated. It could potentially not be bad though since these athletes are young and presumably extremely healthy with no underlying health conditions.
  22. Travis’ story was so sad. Such amazing business success and life only to allow it to be destroyed by drugs. He’s definitely self medicating due to his diagnosis. As I understood he was diagnosed with ADHD as a child. However, his mom didn’t allow him to be treated with Ritalin, ironically enough, due to his father’s addiction issues. She didn’t want to open the door for him to become an addict. But I don’t know what he was treated with for the disorder or if he was treated at all. And he’s obviously not correctly treating it now. Hence his cocaine addiction. All that said, him blaming his wife for all he’s worked for being gone was typical addict behavior in blaming others for their destroyed life and not taking any responsibility for what’s happened. The mom was in just as much denial as Travis. She really believed he’d calmly listen to what they had to say and go to rehab. She was sorely mistaken. Thankfully she realized she wasn’t helping him with her behavior and called the police. Was the dark haired woman who ran after him when they tried to do the intervention, then dropped him off at the airport his girlfriend? I just thought it was odd that she ran him down at the intervention and subsequently dropped him off at the airport. I’d think his ex would’ve been playing that role. Seems like there might’ve been more there than friendship. And even more strange she seemed close to the wife too. Anyway, I’m glad he went to treatment but question whether he’s really clean considering he declined to participate in the follow up. I’m just glad him and his ex never had any kids of their own to bring into that mess. Hope he’s really sober.
  23. Caitlyn seems like one of those addicts who has no coping skills, liked to party and both combined into this perfect storm of addiction. She was obviously in trouble and needed help, but I didn’t think she was too far gone for help. I’ve seen much much worse on this show. I wasn’t surprised when it was said she relapsed and refused further treatment. She didn’t seem genuine at all in her 60-day follow up interview. Very sad.
  24. Yeah. With her Trial results being disqualified that essentially negated any chance for her to compete at the Games.
