  1. Hannah...SMH. Mark...SMH. What a mess. I know Kate is “in love” but how can she possibly try and have a relationship with Sophia after so many lies. Soulmate or not. I’m curious as to how (and why) Matheus thought Fabio would pick up and go to London? And for what since he doesn’t work and is fully supported by his brother? And knows no one there except Rebecca. That storyline was purely plot so that Rebecca could heap one more coal on her head. She truly is toxic. Almost everyone important in her life she’s severely hurt or destroyed. And can I just say, for this show to be about “the one” none of these couples are blowing the roof off. They’re all just okay. Though I did like Mark and Hannah before the latter’s insane behavior.
  2. Hannah Hannah Hannah. SMH. If she’d never brought Megan into her life perhaps her husband wouldn’t have never met the former. Talk about self fulfilling prophecy. And everyone is hung up on “the match,” surely people can have more than one match. So based on what we saw in this episode it looks like Ben found out about them stealing the information in his DNA database to start the matching company. As a result, him and James got into a fight but somehow the former ended up dead. James helped move the body ie threw it into the Thames. Hence all the blood on his shirt. The shirt that Rebecca would do anything to get back. Let me just say, she and James are horrible people. It’s really too bad Ben got mixed up with them. It seems like he was a good guy. The cop is stupid. That’s all I got with regards to her insistence on being there for a woman she clearly doesn’t know. The person she fell in love with doesn’t exist.
  3. Thus far I’m enjoying this as well. The idea of meeting your “soulmate” via DNA match is appealing upon first thought. I think many of us can attest to the exhaustion that can be the dating experience and just even trying to find someone suitable to just date, without even bringing in the consideration of marriage. But after the initial idea it does come with many questions and thus potential issues, which we’ve already started to see on the show. I wonder what happened to Rebecca’s match? Was he already spoken for? And Hannah appears to have a good marriage but her behavior will result in its undoing. Why she would have her husband “matched” was just crazy. SMH.
  4. Eh. I think it still applies. I personally know couples who were planning really nice weddings that were due to happen last year. They cancelled the weddings due to the pandemic but still managed to get married. My point, if they wanted to get married they would have, despite the pandemic. They could’ve had a preacher or JOTP perform the ceremony then do the BIG wedding with all their celebrity guests later. Trouble in paradise was likely more so the culprit facilitating the postponements rather than the pandemic.
  5. Is anyone surprised? Weren’t there rumors of infidelity on his part when the engagement was first announced? My thought has always been that if a celebrity couple are engaged for more than a year, the wedding ain’t happening.
  6. Day was fantastic in this and deserve the praise and award nominations she’s getting. However, the movie was just okay. Though the title implies that the movie would focus on the Federal Drug Task Force’s plot to take down Holiday, it kind of glossed over their pursuit of her and her struggles due to said pursuit. Daniels threw in a couple of arrest scenes and one court scene but most of the movie was snapshots into Holiday’s love life, career and drug use. The supporting cast had nice chemistry with Day, but none of them were standouts and really could’ve been played by any descent actor. This was definitely a showcase of Day’s talents and not much else. IMO.
  7. Agreed. I was sorry I wasted the hour and a half on this train wreck. This started off with a lot of potential but quickly nosedived into absurdity. Unpopular opinion but I’ve never been impressed by Ms. Pike’s acting. She’s been the same character in almost everything I’ve seen her in and is one note at best with her acting.
  8. I think the property has been deemed a historical site/landmark by the city of Los Angeles. So it will remain and no doubt continue to rack up various tragedies and mysteries. I agree with others. This docu-series could’ve been done in two episodes, three tops. They spent way too much time on the sleuthers who didn’t know the half of what was going on with this case, but were so sure that she was murdered, and crazy enough became insistent that the poor Mexican heavy metal singer did it. His life now ruined essentially over lies and SM. Once again we see how toxic it, especially the latter can be. Regarding Ms. Lam, my heart hurts for her and her family. It’s obvious that she was having some type of psychotic episode which unfortunately led to her death. Her behavior while in LA tracked with her history of mental illness. Based on her Tumblr posts she sounded like a young woman like any who wanted to live a full, happy and interesting life, but sadly it wasn’t meant to be. Very sad.
  9. Not surprising, but I was most disturbed by the misogyny in how she was treated at the height of her career. Reporters asking about her virginity, asking her about her breast, taking pot shots at her image being innocent, but not so innocent. I have never heard of reporters asking her male counterparts the same questions i.e. whether they’re sexually active, the size of their penis etc. The snippet from the Justin Timberlake interview, where he admits to sleeping with her, was disgusting. Also, the relentlessness of the paparazzi was ridiculous. The one pap talking about “she never told us to go away” needed to be throttled. It was a flimsy excuse to justify what was essentially harassment and stalking. All that said, I agree I think this was a bit one sided. She was spiraling in 2007 and as a result got into some very concerning situations, specifically with Sam Lufti. So I can see why her dad stepped in to take control of the situation. I wonder why her mom who according to this documentary was the parent whom she was closest didn’t step and do what her father did? It seems like she's been on the sidelines throughout this situation and only recently started to become involved. I’m not sure what to think about this situation. It seems like a mess. I'm not ready to say the conservatorship is needed, but I’m also not ready to say it should go away. This documentary raised some interesting questions, but failed to provide enough information, for me at least, to have an opinion on what should happen. Like the lawyer in the documentary said “we don’t know what we don’t know.” And when you don't know its impossible to have an informed opinion.
  10. I agree with a lot what’s already been said. Too much time was spent on Marcos pontificating. Too much time spent on Naomi’s torture and Drummer’s rage. This season was entertaining enough, better than last season, but not as strong as some of the earlier seasons. Filip is Marcos son in that he craves respect and adulation. I think he wants to be in control, to be known and to take credit where it is due and more. He’s seen that his father is not all powerful as he’s watched Cyn, Naomi and now Drummer openly challenge him and/or “betray” him. Thus Marcos best sleep with one eye open if he wants to see his dream come to fruition. Cause I think little Filip may be starting to have his own ideas. Very happy to see the Rings return and the protomolecule. I like what someone mentioned upthread that perhaps next season the writers can get rid of Marcos early on and spend the remainder of the season exploring the wrath of the aliens living inside the rings.
  11. I am so over Marcos and Filip. The former sure does know how to play the latter like a fiddle. I mean really, who except a psycho, would expect Naomi to continue to remain on that ship or want to remain there after being abused and treated like trash. Marcos framing her departure as if she abandoned the family they were attempting to rebuild together was a ridiculous lie. Unfortunately Filip is too snowed under his father’s spell to see that. Drummer’s “he killed the woman I loved”. Aw. My heart breaks for her. I knew she was in love with Naomi. When I first saw them interact in S2(?) the sexual chemistry between them was palatable, even knowing that Naomi was straight. Like others I feel like Drummer’s scenes have started to get almost as repetitive as Marcos/Filip’s rage over Naomi’s ongoing “betrayal.” I was ready to see her take action this episode, but once again nothing happened. Hopefully she’ll come up with a clever strategy to remove herself and her crew from Marcos’ clutches while at the very least severely undermining his plans, if not killing him. Glad Amos and team made it off planet. I’m surprised Erich made it. I will say Peaches’ flip to Mother Teresa was annoying. I understand her wanting to turn over a new leaf and having a new perspective on life, but life on Earth no longer supports the civility that it once had. Sadly, its turned into a kill or be killed situation. Thankfully their exit off planet didn’t turn more disastrous than it did due in part to her epiphany. Though entertaining, this episode felt like nothing much happened, which really has kind of been this whole season. Everyone is in place now though for some serious movement next episode. Though I’m betting this season will still end with a cliffhanger. Btw, does anyone know what Naomi was trying to do at the end of the episode? Get control of the comms and/or ship?
  12. I don’t have much to add. My thoughts about this episode have, for the most part been covered. I will say I was shocked to see Marcos show genuine grief over Cyn’s death. He wasn’t bawling in a corner, but he did appear to be sorrowful (and angry) over his death. I guess there’s some depth to him after all. I don’t think Erich is going to give up his kingship (or what’s left of it) in Baltimore so easily. Or if he does he’ll inevitably become a red shirt in Amos and Clarissa’s quest to get off planet. Regarding the new PM, he seems like a man who wants to do the right thing, but I wonder if we’ll end up with a mix of both in this situation with him refusing to attack the Belt. But with others who strongly oppose this view acting on those views without his consent being that he is so new and green. I’d be surprised if they go down the route of the newest leader in charge not listening to Avasarala with disastrous results again, since we just went there earlier this season. So hopefully this storyline will take an unexpected but interesting turn. This. The protomolecule was the catalyst to start this whole mess. Yet it, the ring worlds and the mysterious aliens who created the technology to get there have all but disappeared from the story for the usual round of politics, war and family drama, which is somewhat disappointing. So happy to see clever and bad ass Naomi again. I too wonder who ( if anyone) will figure out there’s something amiss with her distress call.
  13. Third option, he abandons the cause, and both Naomi and Marco and walks away from it all never to be seen again. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over this scenario. Lol I agree with the consensus. Cyn is as good as dead and thank goodness Naomi FINALLY freed herself from the albatross that is psycho Marco, Judas Cyn and flip flopping Filip. The latter is his father’s son in that he desires the power and worship that comes with being a terrorist. I thought maybe he’d see his father for who he is when he made it clear that he saw Filip as weak and nothing without him. But the promise of that pie in the sky, of course after his father dies and the subsequent chant of worship that followed was enough to get him back in line. With regards to Marco, what a POS. After all these years he’s still very angry and bitter about Naomi leaving him. I almost think he’s still “in love” with her whatever love means to him. But more than anything I think he is angry that she had the gall to have her own mind and leave him. He who everyone is nothing without. Nobody leaves him. No matter how many times he “offers” them a clean exit ie Cyn and Drummer. I think the latter is dead meat anyway, but if he took Marco up on his offer and left he wouldn’t have made it past the space doors and of course we know if Drummer hadn’t agreed to join his cause she and her crew would’ve been killed on the spot. Not much happened this episode, but it was still engaging. Hopefully things will pick up in the last three episodes of the season.
  14. I agree on both points. Also, Filip’s gradual change of heart seems rather abrupt considering how angry and cold he’s been to Naomi. What facilitated his sudden desire to want to sit down and have a civil chat? Did I miss a scene that would explain what appears to be his melting heart towards his mother? I did find think her words to him about Marco were foreshadowing, when she said he wouldn’t die for him. I suspect we’ll get an episode later in the season when a scenario arises that validates Naomi’s assertion. I definitely think there will be trouble awaiting them in Baltimore. I don’t think that scene where Erich told Amos not to return to his city was there for nothing. Were my eyes fooling me or is Drummer’s lover also sleeping with one of the male crew members? This episode was pretty slow, but went by very fast. Actually this season has been kind of slow as a whole. We only have 4 episodes left in the season so hopefully things will pick up next episode. Even though I still don’t think that’ll be enough for us to avoid a major cliffhanger at the end of the season. Most episodes this season have been more character focused than plot. They’ll have to do a lot to move things along before episode 10. So we’ll likely be left hanging until season 6.
  15. Agreed. That’s why when Naomi planned to stab Marco, I was hoping she’d come to her senses and realize that was not the answer. I understood her logic that if she kills him that’ll stop the destruction that’s being caused being as he’s the leader of it, but the best position she can be in is free to roam about the ship which she can take advantage of. Good thing her son stopped her and in the process inadvertently revealed their plans for the Roci. I’m glad that she was quick on her feet and intellectually to realize what her son was saying, and thus was able to warn Holden and let him know she’s being held captive. I agree. I think even if Marco manages to achieve his goal there will always be someone who needs to pay for what they’ve done to the Belters. He will always be looking to destroy not build. These episodes go by so fast, even when not much is going on like this one. Though this episode was slow, I still found myself wanting it to continue when it was over.
  16. I watched some of the LP performances of Japanese Nationals. Did anyone else check them out on YouTube? Ladies: Miyahara – Her program has potential, but it wasn’t her best performance. Some of her jumps seemed low and tight, and she struggled at the end. Also, I don’t think she has the difficulty of some of the other top ladies out there. However, I’ve always enjoyed her presentation. Sakamoto – This program is just not good IMO. Though she did look to have more choreography than Rika’s program. She struggled with some of her jumps and the footwork was almost at a standstill. Perhaps if skated better this could be a descent program. Rika – She was perfection. She landed the Quad Salchow! Good for her! With her 3Axels perhaps she can give the Russian ladies a run for the podium. I liked the music to her LP but it seemed to be lacking in choreography. It seemed to go from jump to jump without much in between, but she has a natural presence on ice, which if cultivated I think it will serve her well. Men: Uno – Oh my, this guy is looking so much better than he was looking last year when it really seemed like his career may be at the point of no return. I love the music. The choreography is strong. The passion and excitement is back in his skating! He wasn’t perfect but he’s improve so much since last year. I think Lambiel has done wonders for him. I wanted to see Shun Sato’s performance but could only find clips. He looks to have done well though. I think he placed third. Hanyu – Looked amazing. I think this is the best he’s looked, especially in a LP, in over 3 years. The skate was perfection. It’s interesting though, he’s dropped the Lutz and Flip from his programs. I’m guessing the horrible injury he suffered a couple of years ago practicing the Quad Lutz may be the culprit. I don’t know how his arsenal of jumps line up to Nathan’s but this guy is definitely not out the game. He’s still skating like he was in his prime 6 years ago and some may argue he’s still in his prime. Good for him! Overall it looked like it might’ve been a good competition. I think the season being cut down to almost nothing might’ve helped some of these skaters obtain more healing from any lingering physical and mental ailments, and reinvigorate their passion for the sport.
  17. Agreed. And it looked like he’d already spent the money he’d won from Will throwing the fight. I don’t think the house will be going to a relative, distant or otherwise. It’s either going to one of the gangsters with whom he was placing bets or an enemy of Mrs. F. who lives amongst the high society of London and has “investments” in the gambling industry. Don’t get me wrong. At times I was side eying Marina’s diabolical behavior towards Colin. But honestly when viewed through the lens of early 19th century society, who can blame her for what she was trying to do. She had no choice if she wished to have some sense of a safety and security for herself and her baby. Just as Daphne was naive and most of the women in London society, about sex and it’s consequences I’m certain Marina was naive too, until her periods stopped and she realized something was amiss. My point the lack of knowledge and the intoxication that comes with love which leads to passion and desire is what started this unfortunate situation that she found herself in. That said, I don’t think the brother would feel deceived or horrified if he discovered that Marina was pregnant with George’s baby. In fact, I’m surprised he didn’t already know. I mean surely the letters Marina had written George were also found amongst his things that spoke of her pregnancy? Well that’s certainly the truth. She is far from it. In fact, I’d label her more the devil than a misguided soul. She is not the type of “friend” I’d want to have. One who smiles in your face, all the while publishing yours and your family’s secrets, causing destruction in her wake. I don’t have anything really to add to what others have said about her deception except I agree with all that has been said. She’s the worst kind and I hope she’s eventually found out, perhaps when she’s about to marry Colin which would be rich (if that happens) and suffers the consequences of her actions. This was a great show, which I enjoyed immensely. I’m excited to see what they do with a 2nd season. If Daphne and Simon get story I too would like to see external conflict ie dealing with their Duke/Duchess responsibilities. Exploring some missteps and triumphs. They mentioned some potential issues during the season with the dire situation amongst tenants and Daphne not picking a winner for the pig contest at the fair, but they failed to go deeper. I’m also interested in Anthony’s search for a viscount. Hopefully we’ll never see the opera singer again. And I think Marina’s story can be further explored, which would be interesting. And of course the situation with the Featheringtons should prove very interesting as well.
  18. Thank you for putting spoiler tags around your points. I wish others would be so courteous and not heavily reference the books while discussing the TV show. It can at times be a bit confusing. Anyway... Though I’ve been side eying Marina’s plotting for the past few episodes, I could appreciate her realness and maturity in her discussion with Penelope. That said, I wonder who spilled the beans to Lady Whistlebound? The pregnancy has been kept secret for all this time, but as soon as Marina and Colin are about to run off to Scotland to get married the truth coincidentally comes out. Everyone has pretty much captured my thoughts on Daphne and Simon. They both were very wrong in their actions. However, I think the best approach for Daphne after learning the truth would’ve been to confront Simon rather than manipulating him in to a sex act that could potentially result in a pregnancy. But I guess we’re supposed to understand her perspective in that she’d reached her limit in being controlled and manipulated by men, in not having the ability to make her OWN choice. Even with Simon’s reasoning, he still is able to control his life, make his own choices. So though wrong and a betrayal in its own right, I get that her fury is not just about Simon’s lie, but her choices once again being taken away by a man.
  19. Agreed. As was his speech to Daphne on their wedding night. After recently watching a romantic series in which the OTP endured a 20+ episodes of misunderstandings only to clear the air and for the cycle to immediately start again, it’s refreshing to see a couple actually talk through their conflict and misunderstandings. So did Benedict sleep with his artist friend’s wife during the orgy? SMH I sympathized with Marina, at first. But now…her trying to trap poor Colin is just wrong and is not a good look.
  20. Marina being treated like a slave on the auction block was disgusting, with the suitor who was old enough to be her grandfather asking to see her teeth, how well she dances etc. I’m wondering if Lady Whistledown is Queen Charlotte? That kiss, though inappropriate, was hot between Daphne and Simon. I know a duel or marriage was the only way to “solve” the “dishonor” Daphne suffered, but only she, Simon and Anthony know what happened. Couldn’t they just keep it secret? No one would ever know what happened…I take that back, apparently the unflattering Cressida saw what happened. I can appreciate Daphne attempting to take her fate into her own hands, but think this may blow up in her face. I’m extremely curious as to how this will go. Poor Penelope. She likes Colin, but he does not “see” her and is actually interested in Marina. What a mess the Lord Featherington has gotten his family into. Wonder how he and the Mrs will untangle the web he’s weaved. Agreed. What she did was horrible, but I’m not mad at her. Marina is being naive to think this guy will return before she starts showing or gives birth. So now Plan B needs to be executed to save her from ending up poor and destitute and with a baby.
  21. I’m really enjoying the interactions between Daphne and Simon. The latter’s lesson to the former about masturbation was great. I could see and feel the heat building between them. Then he ends the lesson with “I’ll show you…come.” I had to laugh at the pun. These two were really starting to grow into their “feigned” courtship until it all fell apart. I wonder how long this push pull will go on between them before they realize they are attached to each other. When the Queen walked up with the Prince of Prussia I thought, upon first glance, that she was wearing a hat then quickly realized it was her hair – an Afro. Loved it! I feel bad for the Opera singer. Being a “modern” woman who is not from a wealthy family in the early 19th century will never end well. She was very naïve to believe Anthony when he said he’d take care of her forever. But glad she finally came to her senses. Poor Marina. Lady Featherington can be a bitch but her words to Marina were right. Though her deceit was reprehensible, I can understand why she did what she did. Who knows if or when the father of Marina’s baby will return from war. And if he does return it is unlikely he’ll claim his baby and relationship with Marina. I think Marina’s only choice in “saving” herself is to find a suitor before she starts showing and marry.
  22. Cocaine didn’t surface until the mid to late 19th century. So I’m thinking Queen Charlotte was either sniffing some powder form of opium or another drug that was prominent at that time. The Duke’s father was a POS. I thought maybe he’d come around after hearing his son speak without stammering, but I guess the “damage” had been done with him having difficulty speaking. What a horrible man. Love Lady Danbury. Thank goodness she was there to help the Duke when he was a child. Glad they were able to get rid of Nigel. If Daphne had been forced to marry him her life would’ve been a nightmare. Dont understand what the plan is for Marina. Are they just going to keep her locked in that room until she gives birth? Then what? She re-emerges as a single mother? Or they ship the baby off to an orphanage and have her act as if she was never “spoiled” and pregnant?
  23. And one of the attendees at the two parties also appeared to be Asian. I enjoyed this episode. It went quickly. I loved the fact that the classical music scores they used were actually modern day pop songs.
  24. Indeed! I blinked and the episode was over. That’s a good thing though because I was waiting for the story to continue when to my disappointment that was the end of the episode. I’m hoping once Naomi gets over herself and the utter stupidity of this plan she had to save her son, that she’ll toughen back up and help save herself. I’m hoping that Marco becomes blindsided by the huge mistake it should be having Naomi on his ship. Hopefully her being kidnapped by Fillip will come back to bite them on the ass big time. I was hoping this would somehow be a situation where he was severely injured but with their technology they’d be able to patch him up. I really hate losing him now that we were seeing him again. I will miss Chad Coleman as well. Oh it is on now. This fight is now hers and it is personal. Others brought up an interesting point, Marcos assumes all the Belters will line up to follow his lead, but who knows how many pots he’s stirred with his actions which may have people gunning for him whom he didn’t expect.

    The Ripper

I’ve made it to the 3rd episode. Glad they eventually bought a clue that putting everything about the cases in the media works against them. Too bad the lead investigator didn’t listen when it was brought to his attention that the letter and voice recording was not from the killer. Also, though I could get the women being frustrated about their rights being diminished by this psycho killing women, being defiant about something like this ie ignoring the warnings not to travel out alone especially after dark was very foolish. As the one young woman discovered. She was very lucky she didn’t lose her life over that defiance. That said, I agreed with the protests. Why not order all men off the street? Put a curfew on men rather than women? We know why. Finished the documentary. It was okay. The most interesting aspect was the feminist angle which they should’ve spent more time exploring as well as how that tied to the victim’s pasts, especially those who might’ve been mislabeled as prostitutes. The focus on the “investigation” or lack there of, I think is what worked against this documentary the most.
