  1. I agree. When Quell and Kovacs1 were fighting in the cave, it was difficult to see who was winning. At times I wondered if I needed to eat more carrots to help the eyes. Lol. Anyway, they could’ve done better with the lighting in not just the fight scenes but all the scenes that took place at night. Quell and Kovacs2 goodbye on the balcony was pretty dark too. I’m going to go back and watch the series again because there were some things I missed. However, I will say that this season wasn’t quite as good as Season One. Nonetheless, it was still good. I loved the fact that almost the entire cast was minorities. Absolutely loved that. Such a feat is unheard of for a show such as this. So bravo to Netflix and the producers of the show on this. It took Mackie a couple of episodes to settle into the role, but once settled he was good. I thought things didn’t start to get interesting until episode 3-4. Loved the badassery that is Quell. This woman can kick some major ass. Lol. As far as the series giving her another shell ala Kovacs, I don’t know how well that would work since like Poe her character has been consistent throughout these two seasons. REG is Quell. At this point, I can’t imagine anyone else playing the role. Overall good season. I’d watch a third, but honestly I don’t know where else they can take this and keep the story interesting.
  2. Argh I do not want Pearl to go down the rabbit hole of being in a triangle between Moody and Trip. Why she’d be attracted to Trip is beyond me, other than the fact that he’s the “hot” jock, which he’s not IMO. But based on the previews it looks as if that’s where they’re going. Sigh. I like Moody, and her closeness with him. Speaking of Pearl she seems rather clueless when it comes bias and racism. All that moving around has left her naive, desperate for friends (something she’s never really had) and thus easily hoodwinked. Lexi’s boyfriend definitely seems way more “woke” in comparison. Totally predicted that Elena’s friend’s adopted baby would be the daughter of Mia’s co-worker. Why Mia would tell her co-worker that she found the baby is beyond me. Bad move. The co-worker walking in on the party was disastrous. SMH. No good will come from that. Also, I totally called Izzy being gay or bi-sexual. She probably came on to her best friend, which led to the end of their friendship. Loved the parallels of Mia’s Chinese co-worker being short $0.70 to buy formula for her baby and the store clerk being indignant and cold, and not just letting her have the formula for the money she had, but told her to leave if she couldn’t pay, while White Izzy gets on a bus and doesn’t have enough money to ride but the bus driver lets her ride anyway. I’m finding that I don’t dislike any of these characters, they’re all (the main characters at least -Mia, Pearl, Izzy and Elena) interesting and have perspectives that can be considered valid. I do think Mia is the way she is due to past experiences, being a single black mother and all that goes with that, but that she’s running from something too. I’ll admit though we need more insight into who she is, what makes her the way she is. I agree with others Joshua Jackson is being completely wasted here. Really all of the men are, at this point, which is quite the change. Usually it’s women who are left as support with not much to do while the men “shine.”
  3. Specifically to young athletes, who are believed to be some of the most heathy people out there. Condolences to Chris’ family, friends and coaches.
  4. So was I. But you know what, she might’ve had trouble before hence the long sentence. When the cops were questioning her, she did say she was not supposed to have a gun. So I’m thinking she might’ve had a previous felony conviction or was on probation which would’ve prohibited her from having a weapon.
  5. I just watched the episode that aired on Thursday “Triggered”. Here’s another case where I didn’t feel sorry for the victim. He didn’t deserve to die, but he sounded like a piece of sh*t. If his behavior was as outrageous as claimed he sounded like he was either high out of his mind or an ass, or both. Spitting on someone is one of the worst things anyone can do. And that night he came at the wrong person. Ironically enough, he probably never expected this woman to leave her job at the Arby’s drive-thru and gun him down. Crazy case, yet sad. SMH.
  6. I think Mr. Kim’s “gentleness” started to unravel after they all got stuck in the house when the Park’s returned home early and he overheard Mr. Parks talking about his offensive smell. How all people “who ride the train” ie people who are lower class smell that way. Then the next day he had to follow Mrs. Park around and assist her with buying groceries and alcohol for an impromptu birthday party for her son, while he’d just spent the previous night on a gym floor due to his house being flooded by sewage water. They return for the party and Mr. Park insists he play the role of Indian for his son’s party, stopping short of saying it was his job when Mr. Kim tried to refuse. Then the stabbing happened and Mr. Park not only found time to turn up his nose at the smell of the “homeless” man who’d committed the crime, but didn’t give two sh*ts about one of his employees who’d been gravely wounded and another being continuously attacked by the madman. Yes. His son had passed out, but he, nor any of the other affluent attendees at the party tried to help Mr. Kim and his family. Granted they didn’t know those were his family members, but I think it was a culmination of several incidents that made him snap, with Mr. Park turning up his nose at the smell of the housekeeper’s husband being the straw that broke the camel’s back.
  7. At Four Continents he seemed generally fine. He was obviously tired, but for the most part okay. In the past, I've seen him look absolutely exhausted after a LP. When he first burst on the scene he'd be so tired after completing his LP that he'd collapse on the ice. This was due to his asthma issues, but over time he got that under control. That said, I agree, he did seem to lose steam at the end of his LP. Perhaps the 4Lutz is taking too much out of him? I do commend him for getting back on the horse with that jump after his horrible injury from it a couple of years ago. I've been kind of out of the skating loop this season. Hence my question. What happened to Otonal and Tribute to Plushenko? Not that I'm complaining. Though the choreography was gorgeous for Otonal, the music did not suit Hanyu, and the Tribute to Plushenko program didn't suit him either. Sadly, Hanyu does seem to be on the decline. I did think his SP at Four Continents was superb though. Ballade 1 is definitely his money program. I still enjoy him and will always believe him to be one of the greatest. However, I agree. He needs to stop recycling programs. He is so talented, and there's so much he can do with that talent. It's a shame that throughout his career he's only had a couple memorable programs. I'd really like to see him stretch himself creatively, skate to something different, but that suits his style. No more tributes to his skating idols please. LOL.

    Joker (2019)

Indeed. Only the Joker or someone as unstable as him would “get it.” I agree with others. The Joker’s entire “experience” might’ve been a delusion. Also, I’ve seen some crazy characters portrayed in movies over the years. However, there was something profoundly disturbing about this Joker. Perhaps because he was less cartoonish (like previous versions) and though in the fake city of Gotham, he was apart of a world that was free of caped heroes, which made is more real, I guess? Anyway, I was very disturbed by this Joker. It was unnerving watching him, which is due to Joaquin’s superb portrayal of him. Overall, the movie was good, not outstanding. I think it was more of a character study than a movie with a character in it, if that makes sense. I thought the soundtrack was excellent as well. Joaquin deserves all the accolades he’s getting for this one. I hope he wins the Oscar tonight.
  9. Thus far I’ve not really enjoyed this season as much as the previous ones. I think because most of the cases shown have been in Tulsa. I’m not a fan of the detectives there. Hopefully as the season progresses they’ll profile more cases in Atlanta, Mobile and Charlotte.
  10. This is disgusting. Has all humanity been lost in an effort to report on a tragedy first? I feel terrible for the families. I can only imagine their horror in learning this news from the media rather than law enforcement who would’ve at least been able to provide more clarity about what happen, than the speculative media. Very sad.
  11. Agreed. BTS has some talent and charisma. Hence their success. However, when it comes to K-pop/hip hop, I have to say one of my favorites is N’uest. Their vocals are amazing and I have enjoyed most of the songs they’ve released. Sadly, they don’t get nearly the due they deserve.
  12. Agreed. I watched this over the weekend. I thought it was dreadful. The actors were just channeling mobster roles they’d done when they were younger and in their prime. And thus were not impressive. While Scorsese was tackling a mobster story for the millionth time. The movie was a complete snoozer. I cannot believe Scorsese got award nominations for something he’s done a zillion times. It did not show any creative growth or originality from him. But then again he’s Scorsese doing a movie with DeNiro, Pesci and Pacino! Of course he’d be nominated, no matter how undeserving. RME. This was truly a waste of three hours for me.
  13. I recently finished watching this. It wasn’t the best thing Netflix has released, but it’s certainly not the worst either. I did think it made for very interesting viewing and brought with it a lot of questions about faith, projecting one’s personal beliefs onto a situation, perception, situations that may appear different, but are actually the same, and the list goes on and on. I did think the show lost a little bit of its intrigue when the “Messiah” left Israel for the Bible Belt of America. Nonetheless it was still watchable. The title character was attractive and also mesmerizing, I could see why, outside of personal beliefs, people would follow him. I do think something beyond the ordinary is going on with this guy, but that doesn’t mean I think he’s a beckon for good. Thus far he’s mostly brought chaos and confusion, which makes me wonder if he’s the godly figure some think he is. Again, interesting series. If they get a season 2, I’d watch.
  14. I agree with so much you’ve said here, but especially the bolded. People kept saying Ciri had been through a lot, but sorry I wasn’t seeing or feeling it. As stated, she was taken in by almost everyone she met and really did pretty well for herself considering she was a princess whose kingdom has fell, leaving her to wonder the woods virtually alone. And are we to believe that Ciri and Geralt are romantic soulmates because of the deal he made with her father when she was yet in the wound? I hope that’s not the case. If so, eew on so many levels. Mainly because the actress playing Ciri doesn’t even look legal. HC looks old enough to be her father. Hopefully I’m misreading this and their relationship will be strictly platonic. Like others, I thought most of the women we encountered, specifically the witches and Ciri’s mother, to be the most compelling. The Witcher was engaging enough, but I will say it took me a few episodes to get used to HC’s voice. I laughed the first few times I heard it because it sounded so unreal. Strangely, though I didn’t give a flying fig about most of the characters, I did find this entertaining. So I’d watch a season 2.
  15. The Korean Odyssey has been on Netflix for a couple of years, but I just discovered it over the holidays. Another excellent Korean series. The acting and chemistry between the cast was superb. The story was interesting and had a nice mix of drama, comedy and romance with sci-fi thrown in. The ending was open ended. So they could do a season two, but from what I’ve read they won’t, which is a bummer. This one is definitely worth a watch.
  16. I completed watching this season in two days. Despite me binging my way through it, overall, I thought the season was just ok. There was really no movement with Holden and crew’s stories. They spent the whole season on New Terra dealing with the same ole squabbles between Inners and Belters and the Miller/Protomolecule spurring intrigue that disappointingly went nowhere. Bobbi’s storyline was interesting being as the rings appearance has opened the universe to new worlds that has pretty much undermined what was at the very core of Mars’ existence. Now Mars is the equivalent of a country decimated after a war. This of course led to the most upstanding citizens working scrap jobs and/or turning to crime, including Bobbi herself. I still don’t feel like she had to become a criminal. She could’ve taken a job off world somewhere or even went to go work for Avasarala. The latter of which she eventually explores, but pride, stubbornness and her love for Mars is what stops her. Everyone in her life seemed to be approaching Mars’ fall from a strong Inner planet, to being on the verge of chaos with the strong possibility of it never returning to its former glory, differently which was interesting. It was nice getting more insight into Avasarala’s marriage, but the political battle between her an Chao was a bit snoozeworthy. This season kept me engaged mainly because I enjoy spending time with these characters, but story wise the season was subpar to the previous seasons. I think what was missing was the crew of the Rocinante working together in the same space. I know they have to bring in other characters and stories to keep things interesting, but I missed the Roci crew on the Roci or on another ship, land whereever, working together through their challenges. I also think the mystery of the Protomolecule is flailing as is ghost Miller (though I was sorry to see the latter “die”). They need to move that story along, reveal some solid information about the entity instead of keeping things so vague. Sorry, but I do not care about Naomi’s son or his psycho OPA father. In fact, the OPA storyline is a bit of a dud too. It was way more interesting when Fred Johnson was more in the mix. That said, I did enjoy seeing these characters again and would undoubtedly watch a season 5, even though I think this show and it’s stories have likely run their course.
  17. I didn’t see this posted here. Congratulations to her and her fiancé! 🙂 Olympic Figure Skater Sasha Cohen Pregnant With Her First Child
  18. Indeed. I remember when people would complain about the “little 15 year olds” coming out of nowhere to steal the OGM from Kwan, but at least Kwan was able to give them a run for their money, and continued skating and winning long after they were gone. Alina and Evgenia seem to be washed up and nearly pushed out after being Queen for a year or two. SMH. Regarding Alina’s SP program, to be honest it is just blah, from the screaming singing to the so so choreography. She’s still rushing through her transitions, not holding them long enough and thus not connecting with the music IMO. And she always looks as if she’s barely making it through her jumps. She doesn’t have the fluidity of her competitors. I wish her and Evgenia the best. A lot can happen in three years and all the teeny-quadsters could’ve declined or been replaced by the next Olympics. But then another year or two of this, them not making the grade could result in them being pushed out of all the major competitions which would leave them with little opportunity for a comeback. I was able to enjoy Rika’s program despite my dislike for the music, which is annoying. The choreography was interesting and utilized the highlights in the music well though her costume is beautiful and I always love her hair clips and her flying ponytail. So different from everyone else’s tight bun or braided up hair styles. I thought Alena K was very good. There’s a lightness to her skating and her jumps look so easy. She has great packaging. I’d argue she’s much better than some of the teen quadsters coming out of Russia. However, I think the gap between her and Rika should be a little smaller. She wasn’t THAT much better than Rika. That said, if Rika skates clean she could possibly make up that gap and win. Good for Karen Chen making it to third place despite the low base value of her program. She has nice packaging but she’s very basic. Nothing really stands out about her. Perhaps this is mainly due to the choreography which seemed very familiar and thus uninteresting. Hanyu is still Hanyu. Incredible. But dam I hate Otonal, but love Jeffrey Buttle’s choreography to it. Love love love Sui and Han’s SP. The choreography is wonderful. Finally Lori Nichol choreographs something that doesn’t look like a recycled Michelle Kwan program circa 1998. But perhaps that’s because this is a pairs program and not a singles. Ha ha. They are most certainly the ones to beat, I think, unless Cipres/James return to Worlds with guns blazing. But even then, and as much as I love them, they don’t have the polish of Sui/Han. So it would be an uphill battle for them to take gold if the Sui/Han go clean.
  19. I’m watching this episode now. Just about halfway through it and I am absolutely appalled at the incompetence of the police. They just took Pam’s word without investigating everything, including her thoroughly. It made absolutely no sense that Betsy would name Pam as a beneficiary on her life insurance so that she could set up a trust for her children when she had family members ie a mom etc., who could do this. Also she could’ve done this herself before her death. She didn’t need Pam to do this. The laziness of these cops was infuriating. SMH. “Justice” truly can be blind.
  20. Agreed. I just finished watching this. Almost turned it off halfway through the season but kept going out of curiosity when Chase got out of the simulation. Anyway, all of these characters were horrible people, but not only that, dumb. Save for Chase who did have a brain cell or two. I honestly didn’t care about any of their fates. What I found most ridiculous was that the supposed reason for the experiment was due to so many people being criminals that the experiment was an attempt to redeem said criminals and thus save the human race. Well if that’s what humans had been reduced to in 2044, a bunch of murdering, robbing, raping assholes then maybe we don’t deserve to be saved. Just let Darwinism work it’s magic.
  21. Thus far, this season isn’t as good as the last, but still engaging nonetheless. I’m still watching the series. I’m on episode 6. The daughter is just argh. I I don’t understand what she’s hoping to accomplish here. It may just be a red herring but I think the cop with the glasses is dirty. There’s just something shifty about him. Someone else whom I find suspicious is the guy who works at the plant, I think he might be a supervisor but he’s always trying to help Vinkingur. He may be harmless and truly trying to help but I don’t know... Bardur is another one who seems useless. Is he retired and a house husband? Or on disability and house husband? Off to watch the rest of the season...
  22. Finally caught up on all the episodes. This final episode was good, but IMO not as great at the previous. I agree about Ainsley. I could understand her anger and hurt in the beginning. However her obsession which Kash and continuously freezing Maya out got old fast. I was also not feeling all of their other friends dissing Maya too and for over a year! I thought that was pretty extreme. I mean they weren’t even really talking to her on the downlow. They straight up ghosted her. 😕 Anyway, I’m glad it worked out in the end. Maya asking Ainsley to forgive her with the poster cards and them finally making up at the wedding made me teary-eyed and I NEVER get teary-eyed over TV shows. Lol. NE and RR have such wonderful chemistry which makes for a very believable friendship between the characters. I was not expecting Gemma and Duffy to get married. Glad the latter finally grew up and the former significantly toned down the snobbery. Love Tony/Andrew. It was a nice surprise seeing “Curtis” (NSJ), from Misfits again. So happy Maya/Kash were finally able to get back together without the secrets and angst of before. I thought it was hilarious how Ainsley got him to the wedding. They seemed to tie up all the relationships. No outstanding drama or angst. Everyone was happy and paired with the one they love. So I don’t know where they can take this in a 2nd season, unless they explore this with a new cast, which I would not want to see. I hope there is a 2nd season though. I’d love to see if the writers can keep this interesting. This show truly was a breath of fresh air. It’ll be a shame if it’s not renewed.
  23. Personally I don’t need to hear from Lipinski and Eldridge on this. I’m sure they have thoughts and feelings about what’s happened which hopefully, if addressed, will be done privately, within their inner circles. Being as both were coached by him and had successful amateur careers, Tara specifically, under his tenure, their feelings about this situation and towards him will probably be difficult to unpack. We as the public don’t always need a celebrity to comment on a situation, even if they were close to it. Sometimes silence is golden.
  24. Better late than never I guess, but really the man is 73 years old his coaching career was likely done anyway. Its too bad this wasn’t addressed decades ago.
  25. So true. But isn't it enough of that on TV/Streaming already? Don't get me wrong, I have (and continue to) enjoyed my fair share of "dark" shows, but this show is so fun and refreshing. I love it! It truly is a breath of fresh air. Like others, I loved the wedding. Everything about it was over the top and so much like how a reality show wedding would be. I LMAO when the honeymoon was announced as Antarctica and the subsequent WTF looks on Craig and Zara's faces. I wonder if they'll go. Maya looked beautiful throughout the episode. I feel so bad for her though. She has these strong feeling for Kash, but she's making a choice not to be that woman as she stated in the episode. I like both her and Kash separately and I like them together. But I'm okay with it taking some time for them to actually get together. They're both good people who deserve to be happy, but I appreciate the fact that they are looking at their situation realistically and with consideration for their friends. I hope this is all that is going on with Duffy because you're absolutely right. Maya has been nothing but noble in this situation. It could have easily turned into a mess of soap-operatic proportions (and I guess it still could). However, it hasn't because she has made a choice not to act on her feelings. Her letter said this as well. Thus "the one that got away" statement in the note. Hopefully once he's had some time to cool off and lick his wounds he won't hold this against her. I think I must've missed a scene in one of the earlier episodes, but why does Gemma dislike Maya so much? Lastly, I LOVED Ainsley's speech!! Love the friendships between all of them. Again, great show!
