Poor Jetbot. I wonder if he really fell down the stairs. -
Guy's Grocery Games - General Discussion
Psychobunny replied to David T. Cole's topic in Guy's Grocery Games
I knew Alex would win when she made fish. I don't hate her because I like competitive women who are actually talented. They aren't doing her any favors by making the competitions look fixed. I'll be honest, I initially thought she was a spoiled girl who got ahead because of her mother's connections but as far as I can tell, she's the real deal. I was reading one of Jeffrey Steingarten's books (written before Chopped) and he mentioned her as one of the best chefs in NY, and she does have the credentials. Sure, maybe she could get a stage at Guy Savoy based on connections, but apparently she was their first female poissonnier, and she worked there a few years and no way would a Michelin starred restaurant keep somebody on the line who wasn't madly talented-there are too many other qualified chefs who would kill for that job. Anyway, I just assume that her food just really is that good. -

It looks like they're doing a worst bakers show. It seems like TFN is doing everything baking now (also saw a listing for "Bakers vs Fakers". -
Toddlers & Tiaras - General Discussion

I agree with everyone here. The new format is terrible. I also noticed that they used Eden's last name but I figured it was because it is such a perfect porn star name that they couldn't resist. I am also upset that they keep changing the titles. Just when I had figured them out (i.e. Novice Supreme=sucker likely to spend a lot of money if they think they're winning), they went and changed them again. Before, Mini Supremes were the second runners up (in however many age groups they wanted) and Grand Supremes were first runners up and Ultimate Grand Supreme was the overall winner, now with Mega Ultimate Grand Supreme Cheesy Nacho, I guess everybody steps down a notch. Not to mention that Personality Supreme is apparently a lesser title than Face of 2016, whatever that means. Kudos, though, to the mom who was upset that her daughter only won for her photos when she preferred her to get something for what she actually did on stage. Most of these mothers would probably be ecstatic at a title for photos as long as it had the word supreme. I still remember the mother who was so happy that her daughter got Ambassador Supreme (I think that was the title) which was apparently for selling the most ads in the program. The one I want a follow up on is Alaska, the sweet platinum blonde with the ice blue eyes whose mother preferred her brother because he was biracial. I hope she did OK. This time I liked Jacquelynne. She seemed to be enjoying herself and was a cute little girl. I did notice that Cambrie apparently did win the Mega although they really didn't cover the girl who won. -

I know I should hate Kate because she is so annoying but somehow I found myself rooting for her to win. I think it's how some people think about Danushka-either she is the most clueless person ever, or more likely, she is in on the joke and it's all deliberate. Also, annoying as she is, she never whines about a sabotage being unfair. She may comment that her food may not be as good, but she does suck it up and do the sabotage in good spirits. The -
I've been meaning to write for awhile that the first time I heard the term "on fleek" was in an article talking about how it was passé, and that was more than a year ago. I am laughing that they aren't spending a penny on her show. Not only does she not get an actual cooking show, she doesn't even get one like the pilot. She gets shoehorned into a second rate spin off of a talk show. Did anyone else notice that skinny blonde was missing? I was wondering why she wasn't in Star Salvation, since the only other one not included was Martita and she was already on her third chance so it made sense not to have her on. I think something happened that made them get rid of skinny blonde and purge her as much as possible (although maybe she just had the good sense to refuse to come back).

Best line: "He's one pig tattoo away from being a real chef" (may not be exact but that was the gist and so true).

Guy's Grocery Games - General Discussion

Couldn't they find any new kids? These were all RvG retreads. Any bets that Hunter will be back on FNS kids? This network loves him. I also noticed the additional help he got from Guy. It's making me glad I have decided to boycott all kids' reality competition shows on principle. -
Editor's Note: Discuss Hunting Vintage Here! I can't with this version. You want a vintage home then complain that your 1860's house doesn't have closets or that you'll have to knock down walls to create an "open concept"?

Is nobody going to mention the abomination that was Justin's HAIR??? -
I didn't think I could hate poppin' fleek more but I was wrong. She's a bitch with no discernible point of view and I would rather watch anybody else than her. I can't see why so many like her. I think she is horrible. I can't get behind any of them at this point. I guess I am really not a desirable demographic for this network.

I'm still trying to figure out what makes this show so wonderful. I was watching reruns of masterchef and I think there are several things. There seems to be less stunt casting, or at least less exploitation of it ie not having Mat show up in full firefighter garb or forcing people to talk about their inspiration. Second, the talking heads are mostly actually during the competition. There doesn't seem like the producers sit down with the contestants after each bake to ask what went right or wrong which gives less chance for manipulative questions and editing. Of course, there are no real surprise twists or crazy ingredients. There isn't any manufactured rivalry or trash talking, only reaction shots of the other bakers, which makes it look like they actually feel for each other (which may just be because British people are nicer). Finally, there are no commercial breaks which means that they don't have to manufacture drama every ten minutes. It just seems like the show has more respect for the audience than American shows. I am looking forward to two shows a week coming up. Meanwhile, can anyone point me to the controversy about Marie having a professional baking history? Also, what was the deal with the one who taught cooking? (I forget who it was). Was it that she just led a club after school and not as a job? What is her actual job? I think that she was the one who said that she was bad at math and to ask Mr. Simpson so it looks like she at least works in a school.

Cutthroat Kitchen - General Discussion

This episode made me an Antonia fan. They were all good but she was awesome in that last round. The only thing that bothers me is that they never bid the exact amount that the other person has. There is no need to bid more than the other person has because they still won't be able to outbid you. -
Well if the previews are accurate, we know who's coming back this week.

I hate them all and would probably not watch any of them. However, I still prefer Ana because she can clearly cook and I think with some help in filming she could host an actual cooking show. Too bad that's not what they are looking for. I absolutely hate Tregaye. I don't care how good her food is, I would never watch her show. Frankly, I think they're all horrible but Ana and Damiano at least don't make me want to vomit (mostly because neither of them seems to want to play the network's BS games.

I don't hate Ana but I think that's because she can apparently cook. I am always a sucker for the ones who have talent over the ones with "personality" (except in the case of Dom who I just couldn't stand).

Season Two Talk: Spring Baking Championship

Did anybody else catch the close-up of the cut on Jane's hand when she was cutting the peaches? I hope they had her redo them. Also kudos to the producers for the close-up of the almond extract bottle reading "super strong". I find I don't really hate anybody yet. My least favorite contestant went home although I suspect Jane may start to bug me. However, I did apparently learn that too much alcohol makes your zygotes split. -
What did Megan Jean do to Nunez? It's pretty clear he hates whatever she does. I don't think her tattoos are that bad and it doesn't seem that the other judges have as much of a problem with her as he does. Also have to agree that Sausage is being a whiny bitch and I am somebody that didn't mind him much his first season. That said, I still like a lot of his work and would probably let him tattoo me before most of the others.

All-Star Academy - General Discussion
Psychobunny replied to Meredith Quill's topic in All-Star Academy
I like Alex the best so I hope they are changing teams permanently because she is stuck with two middle of the road chefs although they both seem very nice. I can't see them only changing teams for one challenge since why not just sabotage your new team? Curtis was the worst mentor because he basically only wanted to do what he wanted without much regard to his cook or the challenge. Finally, I am not happy that Anna is back. She is clearly a better cook than Zoe but what I like about Zoe is that she seems so eager to learn new things while Anna only wants to make French dishes. My new drinking game is to take a drink every time she mentions French food or France or compares her food to a French dish. It's almost as if she doesn't realize that there are other types of food. If she wants to go to culinary school, it is my understanding that they now teach a lot more than classic French technique and more importantly, if you want to work in food service nowadays you need to have a more international background. She just seems determined to make something French and she acts like an expert on French food when she doesn't seem to know a lot of the basics (like with the choux-I've never made it and even I know that you have to heat it until it dries out before adding the eggs and that her texture was all wrong). -
Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta - General Discussion

I loved the going-away dress. I don't think she needed it but I thought it would make a beautiful bridesmaid's dress. Also, I loved Lori's daughter. You just know she had absolutely no say over her own wedding. -
Why does it bother me so much that I wanted to scream at the stupid doctor that adhesive capsulitis usually takes 12-18 months to resolve? (That medical degree has to be worth something). Anyway, agree with most of the above posts. Also just realized that Diana is pursuing a man named Charles. I can see that character thinking there is some royal destiny there.

American Idol Past Contestants: What Are They Up To Now?

Clay went on Twitter to trash this year. He has such a nice voice but he really is a sanctimonious prat. -
Tyler always strikes me as a jerk on this show. I agree that he could have told that woman where to put things. I always feel bad for those who go home first because they don't seem to get a chance to improve. I also felt bad for the guy who burned his sauce. You know he would have been criticized if he used it or if he left it off. Any multiple reality show famewhores in this cast?

I am also glad Phil manbun didn't win. He seems to be another chef who is going on any show that will take him. I will say that his food sounded interesting but his ego left a bad aftertaste. I was rooting for the winner.
