  1. I too was called obese by 2 doctors....They weren't heartless, just trying to save my life. I went back to them and have lost 106 lbs. Turned my life around. If only Whitney would do the same. The weight she is carrying on her knees is causing untold damage. I have had knee replacement surgery and it isn't fun. Worse than the open heart surgery I have also had. I pity the day she needs that surgery because the nurses taking care of her are going to need hazardous duty pay.
  2. I believe it is 13 episodes, which is the same number as season two.
  3. I caught the marathon on yesterday. Such entitled brides! I saw two who just HAD!!! to have a particular dress that was twice their originally stated budget. Both brides, of course, decided to cut back elsewhere in their bridal budget in order to have the more costly dress. All of that money (in one case 14,,000.00) for a dress which they would wear once and only for a few hours. So ridiculous!
  4. Count me among those motivated by Whitney to lose weight, although in my case I had already lost a fair amount, but seeing her in her unhealthy delusional state inspired me to continue my weight loss. I have multiple health issues which were exacerbated by my weight (315 at the highest) and even now that I have lost 102 lbs with about 50 more to go I find myself facing the consequences of my previous poor eating. When I see Whitney blithely dismiss valid concerns from family and friends I want to reach through the screen and give her a good shaking. Wake up Twitney....you are facing a multiple of problems in addition to the ones you already have and you won't be able to talk your way out of them trust me.
  5. Very interesting article. I was not aware that it worked that way as I know several people who had bariatric surgery and they all gained the weight back and then some. Maybe the folks I knew had a different type of bariatric surgery than the people in this article did.
  6. I think the saggy skin problem depends at least partly on how fast the weight came off. I have lost 102 lbs and while I do have some saggy skin it is not to the point that I need skin removal surgery. My face is also thinner but not to the point of being gaunt. I admit to being worried about this before I decided to finally do something about my weight but I figured losing the weight was more important than the possibility of saggy skin. I lost the weight very slowly (took about 2 years) and I think that helped me to avoid any major problems with saggy skin. I have a friend who had weight loss surgery (and lost about the same amount of weight in much less time) and she ended up with very saggy skin.
  7. That is what frustrates me about most of the folks on this show. The minute they walk into a kitchen and don't see stainless steel appliances, white cabinets or granite/quartz countertops they immediately declare it a gut job. I lived with the kitchen in my house for 10 years before I was able to update it and the food tasted the same whether it was cooked on my harvest gold stove/prepped on my formica countertop or it was taken care of on my new stove and countertop.

    Book 3: Voyager

Thank you WatchrTina for posting that. Although I never thought Jamie raped Geneva I regretfully admit that I read that blog out of curiosity. Diana as always masterfully explained everything and I can only wish that those still claiming it was rape get a chance to read her words.
  9. From the information on facebook it looks like about 100 people signed up for the tour. Which is a lot more than I expected. I am glad they had a somewhat decent turnout but I hope that there is more to the tour than just no body shaming...like ways to be a healthier person through exercise and sensible eating habits.
  10. I am 5'6" and was classified by my doctor as morbidly obese at 296 lbs. Now at 191 I am considered obese. No way would you be morbidly obese at 175 lbs.
  11. My sister and I both had pixie haircuts growing up (in the 50's). A lot of kids did and no one seemed to think we didn't look feminine enough. I had no trouble determining Zoe is a girl. If zoe wants longer hair when she is older and can care for it herself than she should go for it but for now I think the pixie is adorable and appropriate for a young girl of her age.
  12. oops. not necessary.
  13. According to an interview I heard with Maril this morning it is going to be 13 episodes not 10. I can understand them leaving Mary McNabb out as we never really saw her at Lallybroch so why bring her up? But they better not send Laoghaire in her place. That would be blasphemy!!! Just leave out the entire scene. I am looking forward to who they cast as Geneva.
  14. Just heard an interview with Maril where someone questioned whether it would be 13 episodes or not and Maril confirmed 13 episodes.
  15. I suppose the older actor could play Fergus for "leap O the Cask" incident, but when I picture it in my mind I always see Romann as Fergus. Oh well, as long as they include the scene I will be happy.
  16. I am hoping we get to see young Fergus one more time...as isn't he just a few years older when he gets caught by the British bringing that cask to Jamie in hiding?? This new actor (he looks perfect!) will probably pick up the role after Claire returns to the past?
  17. Saw this when it was on TLC. Just made me so angry. That doctor flew all the way from Houston, other folks tried to help him, but to no avail. A very, very sad situation and he paid the ultimate price.
  18. This reminds me of an incident at work. I was working 10 hour days 6 days a week to get stuff done for the foremen on a special project they were doing. Day after day of more work for me so there would be more work for them. I asked if I could go out in the field for an hour or 2 when things slowed down so I could see the progress of the work and also see the results of some of my work. I kept getting put off. Then an intern comes in. Young, blonde, pretty. Didn't have a clue what was going on but looked really cute giggling and talking to the foremen (all men) They all took turns taking her out on field trips. They couldn't ask her out to the field fast enough and she didn't have a clue what kind of work was being done or what work was required (by me!) in order that the work in the field could be done. Fortunately my supervisor and I could laugh about it but boy it was frustrating. Cute blonde gets all the attention but hard working middle aged woman who does all the work is told they don't have the time. Such is life.
  19. kudos to you Cherrio for checking out the cruise. CruiseOne is apparently some kind of franchise operation according to google. Presumably they would contract with Carnival but one would think Carnival would then have knowledge of it. I cannot imagine what a blast it would be to be on a cruise with a bunch of twitney worshippers. I can feel my blood pressure rise just thinking about it.
  20. thank you mamadrama. Just went to their site and submitted my feedback Hope more of us can do the same. Not that it will make a difference as TLC doesn't care except for what will bring in ratings. But they need to hear from those of us who don't consider Whitney fabulous.
  21. So sad that this show apparently garners decent ratings. I guess it shows that a fair amount of folks are buying into twit's no body shame campaign, which is just a cover for eating whatever you want and blaming everyone/everything but yourself for your weight. I tried to find a link so I could email TLC my thoughts on this travesty of a show but had no luck. Further research may be necessary.
  22. Thanks for starting this! I will add a couple of things that are working for me. Been obese/morbidly obese most of my adult life. Now that I am 65 I have finally managed to find something that has worked for me the last two years. I have managed to lose 92 lbs over the last two years (with about 60 more to go) because I have found a weight loss group that works for me. I have tried weight watchers, a dietician, diet doctor, nothing worked. But this group, affiliated with my church does. So for those inclined I would suggest finding a weight loss support group that you can connect with. Also have cut way back on my carbs. I find when I eat less carbs and more protein not only am I far less hungry but I lose weight faster. The weight loss hasn't been fast, but it has been pretty steady and that is best for me. I lose it too fast, and I have in the past, and I put it back on pretty quickly. Due to some heart issues I cannot do any strenuous exercise but I do swim 3 times a week and on other days I do a yoga class or walk. It has taken me a good 40 years to learn that I don't need a starvation or a no carb diet and I don't need to kill myself in the gym to lose weight steadily and keep it off.
  23. Great idea about a new group. While I have lost 92 lbs I still have about 60 to go and hearing about other folk's experiences with what works and doesn't work for them will prove helpful I am sure. Watched about 5 minutes of tonight's show, tuned in just in time to see Whitney walk out and see her minions offer their opinions, profane and otherwise. Like others have said Whitney has inspired me to stick even more closely to my healthy eating, and I doubt I will watch any longer as she just really annoys me and makes me so angry. Will still be reading here as the snark is most entertaining.
  24. I would love to see Murtagh saved, but Duncan Innes is a completely different personality than Murtagh. I would have trouble seeing the former formidable Murtagh turned into a more passive Duncan.
  25. In that TLC clip that Ketzel referenced Whitney states that it is ok to want to change parts of your body, but your life shouldn't depend on it. That is fine if your nose is too big or your ears stick out (as babs said), but when it comes to fat that statement is dangerous and if her followers take it to heart they are endangering their lives. So sad that she has taken a laudable concept and generalized it so she can excuse herself from taking responsibility for her health and well being and is leading others to do the same.
