I hate it when they walk into a bathroom or kitchen and declare it a total gut job. The rooms are completely functional just not to their taste. I lived with my ugly kitchen for 12 years until I had the money to remodel it, harvest gold stove and all. My house was built in 1951, and when I toured it I did not expect to find spacious closets and a master bedroom with its own bathroom. These people who want older houses with character and expect to find walk in closets and multiple bathrooms make me crazy.

thank you Morgan and glaze crazy. I hadn't thought of the library (and shame on me!) so I will give that a try. We only have the one PBS station in my area so unfortunately there aren't any other ones for me to try. Hopefully I will have luck at the library.

I have found when I eat less carbs and more protein I am less hungry. I love bagels, could have one or more every day but if I want to maintain (and continue) my weight loss I have to pay attention to what my body is telling me. When I cut out the bagels and eat more protein (expecially with breakfast) I am less hungry and am therefore less tempted to have a snack or eat more than I should. If Whitney actually stuck to a properly balanced diet and gave herself a chance to listen to what her body is telling her perhaps she would discover she doesn't have to (supposedly) starve herself in order to lose weight.

Damn! My PBS station doesn't carry it apparently It doesn't show up when I do a search for it. Most annoying!

I was so hoping that Will wouldn't show up for the stair case climb. He is a professional for goodness sake. Presumably a professional with other clients to work with so he just cannot show up on a street corner to support a client he just fired because of her complete lack of commitment and interest in working to improve herself. Very disappointed that Will apparently succumbed to the lure of TLC.

Just watched that clip. I wanted to reach through the screen and tell her to grow up! She has people who care about her, most recently we have seen Will and Tai? confront her with some unpleasant truths. In addition to the feeble excuses she offers up she breaks into tears in a blatant attempt to divert the truths being thrown at her and to try and make the truth tellers feel sorry for her. She is 32 years old, not 2. Grow up Whitney before you eat yourself into an early grave or a visit with Dr. Now. I am not speaking from the viewpoint of a skinny person. I have been overweight most of my life, morbidly obese at times but topped out at 296 lbs. I finally got tired of carrying that extra weight around and found a weight loss group that worked for me. It wasn't easy but the sense of accomplishment, additional energy, and improved health was worth it. She doesn't have to be 120 lbs. 200 lbs would be a huge improvement. As a refrigerator magnet I have says "nothing tastes as good as thin feels"

Whitney Thore: So She Thinks She Can Dance
abbey replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
I just watched that video. I kept telling myself it couldn't be as bad as everyone said and it wasn't. It was worse, far worse. To laugh like a hyena about the ferret losing its hair due to cancer treatments. To laugh when her parents, compassionate folks that they are, held up the ferret so Whitney could have a final goodbye. To laugh at her parents spending thousands of dollars on cancer treatment. She is despicable. -

The Scottish Prisoner ranks right up there with Outlander as one of my favorites of Diana's books. Does a lot to explain the Jamie/Lord John relationship. So glad Sam is reading that in preparation for Voyager.

Whitney Thore: So She Thinks She Can Dance
abbey replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
she was weighed in last night's episode and I think the scale showed 381 lbs, a gain of 4 lbs since she started working with Will, the personal trainer. -
I took a course on healthy eating last year as part of the weight loss group I belong to (92 lbs lost with about 60 to go. Yay!) They explained portion size to us. Quite an eye opener! I don't have the details in front of me but some portions were only the size of the palm of my hand. Much much smaller than I (or anyone else in the class) expected. Whitney's portions are more like 5-6 portions at least.

That is the first thing I thought of when I finally watched the episode last night. He is the spitting image of Austin Powers! All he needed was a British accent.

I just watched episode 213 again. Apparently I am missing something because I have no problem with the actress who plays Brianna. I didn't care for her Not because of poor acting but because of her personality. I know she had every right to be angry at her mother because of the crazy story and the deception, but by the time I met her I had become very fond of Claire and resented Brianna's attitude. But I had no problem with her acting and look forward to eventually seeing more of her.

Not sure I like the idea of substituting Murtagh for Duncan Innes. Two different personalities. Cannot see Murtagh married to Jocasta and living the life on RIver Run. I wouldn't mind seeing Murtagh alive and well but not as Duncan.

I actually watched unforgettable on the recommendation of a new friend from my exercise class. Unfortunately by the time it was recommended to me there were only a couple of episodes left before it got cancelled. If I remember correctly it was about a female detective who couldn't forget anything. Which made her job easier but was a bit difficult to explain to her coworkers. Interesting concept but apparently didn't appeal to enough people.

As far as that dance class member doing Whitney's job, when I was out sick at my job a coworker would take over my job until I returned. I wouldn't expect my work to sit untouched until I returned. Granted it was a 9-5 job with work that couldn't be left undone, but it shouldn't be a big deal if someone filled in for her so her students wouldn't miss a class. I was over on facebook (think it was on Whitney's page but it might have been the show's page) and comments were strongly supportive of her anger at the other girl taking over her class. I don't understand that. I take a water aerobics class 3 times a week and if our instructor cannot be there another class member will usually take over the class. Not a big deal and the instructor doesn't care. As long as Whitney has people who support her in her arrogance and delusions she is never going to learn anything and improve her attitude and her health.

I took a healthy eating course last year, taught by nutritionists and part of a weight loss group I belong to (lost 92 lbs with about 50 more to go) and they reviewed portion sizes. What an eye opener that was. That small container was perfect portion size for a lot of stuff, and for Whitney to dismiss it just shows how ignorant and not interested in learning anything she is. I have had to adjust my portion sizes after taking that course and I think most everyone in the class did also. I am also an overweight person and I have serious heart issues due to congenital heart disease. The cardiologist has told me how important it is to my heart health to lose weight. That cardiologist was far too easy on Whitney and of course she wasn't paying a lot of attention to him anyway. She is so delusional and arrogant, so dismissive of those who are trying to help her, that this show isn't just enjoyable anymore.
-
I too was confused about the echo cardiogram as I have had quite a few and never got to lay on my side. Have never been in a really good position to watch the screen. For someone who fainted after a short work out she seemed very unconcerned about what the cardiologist had to say. I could feel my blood pressure rising as she blew off the comments those two people made at her college presentation. She is in no way a spokesperson for her body shaming campaign as she is in complete denial. Nothing but excuses even to her poor father.

Per Diana (over on the compu-serve forum) the line about usually receiving a tip was actually thought up by Ron. She was being complimented on what a humorous line it was and she wanted to give credit where it was due.

Being a book reader I too thought it was going to be Rupert who was going to die. Especially seeing the clip a couple of days ago which showed Angus bringing a wounded Rupert into the makeshift field hospital and insisting Claire tend to him right away. Completely missed the telegraphing of Angus's death. So sad. Hated seeing Dougal killing the wounded British soldiers, especially Lt. Foster. Went from loving Dougal for his bravery for checking out the bog to hating him for killing those defenseless soldiers. Undoubtedly happened in history but so hard, at least for me, to see it on screen. Kudos to all the actors for another well done episode.

I have been overweight most of my life, but never to the extent that Whitney is. Have finally found a weight loss group that works for me and am almost to my goal weight. However before I found that group and started losing the weight I had to have knee replacement surgery. Worst surgery I have ever had (and I had open heart surgery as a kid and I thought nothing was worse than that). Carrying around all that extra weight has already damaged her knees and she is facing joint replacement surgery in the future. She is fooling herself if she thinks she is fit and fabulous.

As far as Claire thinking of someone when she went through the stones the first time...I always thought she must have been thinking of Frank so therefore she ended up in the vicinity of Black Jack. The stones would have sent her back 200 or so years ago, and at that time, in that location, Black Jack was the closest thing to Frank.

Episode 11 is titled "vengance is mine" and I am guessing from that title that it will be the episode in which the Duke loses his head courtesy of Murtagh.
-
While there is no new episode on 7/2 there will be an Outlander Marathon of season 2 episodes on that day to tide us over until the season finale airs.
-
While the release did not mention a number of episodes, in the podcast for the last episode Ron said that 16 episodes were too much for the cast and give the impression that future seasons would most likely be 13 episodes.
