I'm just catching up on this episode. The other 2 segments were meh, but Maya Rudolph was awesome. I particularly loved that she wore that same blue dress throughout her entire life. Agree with IndianPaintbrush about the cocaine-snorting and will add her exaggerated jerking as she was gunned down.

What Tales From History Would You Like To See?

I'd love it if they covered that, but from Rosalind Franklin's viewpoint. -
Is there a show behind Matthew Gray-Gubler? I hadn't noticed.

Pleasantly Surprised: Shows That Were Better Than You Expected
cynicat replied to ybrik's topic in TV Show-Related Talk
I backed into Drunk History too, and it is now my favorite show. I agree with Gudzilla, Paget Brewster rocks. You should check out the original episodes before they made it to Comedy Central. They're at the Funny or Die site. It's scary how much obscure history I learn from this show. Kind of like learning news from Jon Stewart. -
Aged Well: Old Shows That Are Better Than You Remember

The Twilight Zone. Low tech effects aside, they remain elegant and thought-provoking while still scaring the crap out of you. I think they're timeless. That could be it's own episode!- 105 replies

I've been meaning to post about this commercial. It reminds me so much of the first time (and frankly any time) I offered to pay the bill for my parents. Even into his 90's my dad wouldn't let me pay. I love how the guy says "MOM"

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

Must the world revolve around The Children? If your kid puts shit in his mouth and you're worried about the colored pods, don't buy Tide. Don't make Tide change to avoid your kid* *not you personally Brattinella, you in the general sense. -

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads
cynicat replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
There is so much wrong with that commercial, quite true. Regardless, I can't help but love it because the DAD is picking them up from practice, the DAD is worried about all the dirt, and the DAD is taking care of them, washing their things and making dinner. All by himself! Hurray for a father who is engaged with his children and is capable of being a fully functional adult. A rare species in the commercial world. I couldn't find it on Youtube, only iSpot: http://www.ispot.tv/ad/70P2/best-buy-4th-of-july-sale-samsung-washer-baseball-season FWIW, the commercial is for Best Buy about Samsung washer/dryers. I didn't see Sears as being quite that forward-thinking. -
I wondered why she wasn't offered a stint in rehab as well. Perhaps it's what you said, that she denied she was using and refused help. Maybe I need to watch again because I could have sworn she was doing drugs with Kayne in the car. Damn, I keep wanting to type and say Kanye. He should get a pass just for having his parents give him that ridiculous name.

I was so excited to watch Night Gallery recently because I remember that show being so freaking scary when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I found it unwatchable. The stories were still great, it was the over-the-top artistic directing and acting, weird camera angles and odd distracting gimmicks that made me very sad. On the contrary, The Twilight Zone which is much older and should seem like it would be more dated, holds up like a champ.

I don't know if the Willow Curve is good or bad, but I have to comment that Chuck Woolery looks like he's aged very well. I just googled him to see that he's 74 years old! -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

I keep meaning to post about this commercial for Stretch Fit by Skechers. "Yoga pants are comfortable AND fashionable". No, no they are not fashionable even if you are in shape. Yoga pants are the costume of every mom shopping at Whole Foods. Are they coming straight from class without showering? Or perhaps they believe it when this snot in the commercials says that yoga pants are fashionable. If this is a new trend like leggings, all I can say is check, please. By the way, am I supposed to know who this woman is, or even give a shit? -

When I was in grad school, they had anatomy coloring books. Those were awesome in helping remember all the arteries, veins and nerves. And they were semi-stress relieving. I'm not sure we were coordinated enough to be at the colored pencil level though. -
Not to mention, we love you like crazy

I thought it was the green M&Ms that got their candy freak on. -
Didn't Andria originally say she was studying to become a pre-school teacher? That scared me more than anything else about the episode.

I love this ad for amazingly shitty food. "Why does the air taste purple?"

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads

Yes, yes, yes! Thank you for saying this. Every time I watch a commercial where they say: "these are real people, not actors" I immediately say back: "actors are real people". -

I wasn't watching the screen at the moment so I only heard the commercial. Even after all the discussion, it's just not the same until you experience it yourself. I immediately looked up when I heard the guy say "I'm going to crap as if no one is watching". Now I'm wondering if that is on purpose because it sure got my attention. -
Does this mean we get a male version of Walking on Sunshine??
