  1. I actually liked Jessa's wedding dress better. I do like the updo with the dress, but then I think prior to courting Jinger wore more updos in general. It definitely seems they're stepping up for this wedding. Non-dessert food! Long bridesmaid dresses. I like these the best. They seem formal and needed no alterations. Jill's bridesmaid were dressed like cartoons of Jesus. Plus, the alterations were time-consuming and didn't turn out well. I wonder if Jeremy's father helped pick the church since the officiant usually I think gets some say in terms of where they will feel more comfortable. 1000 people sounds like a lot but part of that is they invite families with children and most of the families are quiverful so it's about 150? families at most that they invited. If each family has at least 4 or 5 kids plus the two parents that'll work and we know a lot of these people have more than 4 kids. It's still a lot, but it sounds less if you think in terms of families rather than individual invitations.
  2. I like the hymn too, but I don't know those words and neither I think does Jeremy. Churchhoney is right. However it's very common to give old hymns and traditional tunes new lyrics. I googled "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" and I recognized the tune. I know this hymn as "God We Praise You, God We Bless You" and those, I think, are the lyrics Jeremy uses. Anyway it's a nice hymn when you don't sing it as dirge-tempo.
  3. You inspired me to do some research. Wink Martindale is married to the other blonde Trumpette (who has Anna Wintour's haircut) (not Desi) when they are toasting. Toni, (the main woman talking) is not married to Wink. She actually was Clinton supporter in 2008. The more you know.
  4. Joy looks tired to me. Her embracing the culture may have to do with her sister mom, Jill, who seemed the most happy in the Duggar bubble.
  5. The potato Parcel sounds fun. I can hear those of us in 2016 explaining to our grandkids, "yep we sent messages on potatoes, it was the beginning of the hip vegetable era, which created a trend of tying an onion on our belts, which was the style at the time."
  6. JB probably wants another "covenant marriage" like Jill had (a marriage which legally limits divorce). They are only a legal entity in Arkansas, Arizona, and Louisiana. So that eliminates Philly, NJ, Texas, or NYC. Speaking of covenant marriage, how many of the Duggars have one?
  7. I got the TS FJ. The key word was initials. You needed two Shakespeare characters with first and last names. It still took me awhile since I am less familiar with Julius Caesar. But I once I got Julius Caesar, I instantly came up with Juliet Capulet.
  8. On the whole shower curtain story (wow), Unfortunately the shower curtain might fall here in America too. One thing that stands out about this season and maybe this show (Counting On versus 19KAC) is that they really trying to sell and play up a " We're siblings and best friends and we all love each other." Jessa was being supportive of everyone including Jill (whole sound effects in the background) (it's good to have her back) and Jana (she told Jana she had a knack for design or something like that). It's been clear in other episodes too and not just with Jessa and the girls. (In the Duggar boy courtship ep, Jana emphasized her bond with her twin.) All of this family bonding makes sense... except it wasn't shown to much effect in previous seasons of the old show. This episode was boring and hard to focus on.
  9. This episode was boring. Jill and Derrick are boring, but were better at the grocery store. We could see Jana being an interior designer. Is this to make her more appealing for a potential courtship (one of the wifely skills) or for her to sell junk in lieu of interior design in the store lot she purchased? (I didn't like the green she picked for the dinning room.) I would guess boredom is a real problem for these people. Jana may enjoy staying active to keep boredom at bay. That baby sitting seemed partially to give Derrick and Jill some alone time and partly to get those little girls babysitting and experience with kids. I was really hoping to see an FU internet moment with Jessa getting real prenatal care. Not cool TLC!
  10. I don't listen to hip hop so I'd never heard of him. He has nationally syndicated radio hip hop show. It's big enough Hillary did an interview with him. He is the guy Hillary was talking to when she said she carries hot sauce in her purse very early in the campaign. (A bunch of shows including sniffs the Nightly Show and maybe something on MSNBC? played that clip.) He was interesting beyond that. My favorite Lewis Black line was more Americans went to see Taken 2 than voted in the election that year and the plot's in the title: Someone gets Taken! Again!
  11. I think most sisters/siblings would have a better idea of what their brothers/siblings want, but that would be based mostly on seeing them interact with people they're attracted to. Since the brothers aren't allowed to interact with girls much, it makes it harder to figure out their type. That being said they've been trying to show on this season the Duggars have good individual friendships with their siblings when it makes sense. Earlier there was that awkwardly sweet moment when Jessa said Jinger is her best friend. The J-iah twin boys are friends. There were good basis for both of those friendships to be mentioned. I really can't remember seeing any kind of real closeness between Jana and John David, so it was interesting Jana said it was important she got along with her twin's wife and she hoped they(her and the future wife) would be best friends.
  12. The patriarchy was on full display in this mix of courtship scenes. The airport scenes and seeing Jinger and Jeremy together were boring. Really boring. Since I used to only read about this show, I got to see some of their greatest hits I hadn't seen including footage of the infamous ALERT camp and the baby doll gag. Josiah talked as if he had never had a courtship. Meanwhile you too can marry a Duggar boy. They're hard-working and not too talkative or educated, but have all the business skills they need to love and provide for you. They all have a sense of humor and aren't too picky as long you're a country girl who is shorter than they are and have endless physical boundaries! And if you have a heart for servitude, Jesus and big families, call the number on your screen to be matched with one of the genuine Duggar boy. And if you call in the next ten minutes, we might even throw in a second Duggar boy for free! (I think they're trying to marry off the boys, because of the single kidadults, which seem to include both sets of twins, 5 out of 7 are boys and 2 out of 7 are girls. They didn't talk about Jana or Joy courting tonight. It was the boys' night to look for courtships.)
  13. This episode was the least watchable by a long shot of all the episodes this season I've seen yet. It was bad. All the flipping back and forth to watching Jinger get ready. I get wanting to look good, but almost missing a flight really threw me off. I checked, most curling irons can be packed and brought with you. So you could do your hair in the airport bathroom if it's really that important. Everyone was boring and predictable. I know a lot of people found the camp not legit-looking, but for the Duggars (and Seewalds) it looked way too legit! They had people who really knew football working there. Why they needed the Duggars and Ben there is beyond me.The most legit Duggar involvement was the boy sitting in a lawn chair with a sign telling the camp was this way. Jinger facetimes with Ben all the time with seemingly little chaperonage. I don't remember any other courting couple being allowed to do that. Jinger also flat out said she loves Jeremy. Jessa and particularly Jill were careful to save I love him for marriage. It goes along with the fundie "Don't give away pieces of your heart/save your heart for marriage" ideal. They also are now into mainstream football when in the past their favorite sport was the made-up broom ball. According to wikipedia, there is no Jodie although it could be a new nickname for someone.
  14. I got the feeling Ben and Jessa were making fun of themselves and were joking about them. Those two have a dry sense of humor. The others, who were in that segment not that much. I also didn't like them asking the Duggar girls football terms. I guess it would be too weird to ask the Duggar boys. On the other hand, I wasn't sure what all the terms meant. Lots of people don't watch or like football. It's a bad example of "We do things a little bit differently."
  15. If they can film Jill in Central America, they can film Jinger and Jessa in Laredo. In fact they can have two shows. Counting On... featuring Jill and the Lonely J Hearts Band and Jessa and Jinger Take Laredo.
  16. I really liked Jessa saying Jinger was her best friend. She seemed awkward and nervous about it. Like she wasn't sure or maybe her parents drilled it in to her heads it was wrong to have a best friend among her sisters. Either way seeing her acknowledge her friendship with Jinger was sweet. Meanwhile Jinger was a little too wrapped up with Jeremy to pay too much attention, although she did agree with Jessa. I also liked Flame and his family. They were great around the Duggars. Agreed with all the posters above, and if anyone posts saying Flame is great. JB did a 180 on Jeremy or at least a 150. Compared to last week when he was roaring like dragon or a lion, this week he seemed respectful and almost meek? well, not exactly but polite and friendly. It makes last week look more scripted. Based on his ring shopping, Jeremy seems like the perfect person to buy a car from the Duggars.
  17. I think JB is somewhat acting. We already had the guy he loved (Derrick) and the guy who he put up with and reminded him of sons (Ben), now for storyline purposes we need the man that he doesn't trust much. That being said a lot of the aggression seemed real.
  18. They're listening to Dave Ramsey, because part of the Duggar brand is worrying about money. Since the first appeared on tv, they yammer on and on about saving money. Figuring out how to save money is one of their main hobbies. So of course they spend time listening to how to save money.
  19. It looks like Josie is eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch or an off-brand. and the girls have... i"m not sure but maybe kix (or the off brand)? Never eaten Captain Crunch (or an off-brand) so it could be that.
  20. Hasan's piece was exactly the kind of thing the Daily show did consistently all through out Stewart's tenure. During the last few years, they went to a European country and talked about socialized medicine and Jordan acted the same way. It's an entitled attitude meant to be shown as ridiculous and make the other person look smarter. I wish they focused on the pipeline and this issue versus just our historically bad treatment of Native Americans, to better highlight the issue.
  21. A few more thoughts: Things I remembered or occurred to me after reading your parts. The string art was silly enough, although it might have been sweet if she had made it with say one of her sisters Josie or Jordyn or her niece Kenzie etc. However it was at least 100 times stupider that she couldn't find a hammer and had to hammer the nails in with a wrench (!!!) First all of don't all of the Duggar boys mainly do construction? Shouldn't there be at least 12 hammers in the house? And second of all, why not ask someone where the hammer is? Why use a wrench and I guess if she knew how to hammer the wrench might have worked better! Jeremy's singing is nice, but the hymn he chose (which I know from church but can't remember which one) sung in that key at that tempo became dirge-like. It doesn't have to sound like that! Pick up the tempo and pick a different key. Michelle seemed to trying to be a buffer between JB and the Vuolos and seemed at time to be making excuses for him. I'm sure she would feel it disrespectful if she out and out apologized for him, but she seemed almost apologetic. Hey JB, when Michelle thinks you've crossed the line, you might want to dial it back! need to see more of Jeremy to make a decision. For all her silliness, Jinger is sweet (cloyingly) , but clingy. However she isn't mean to him. I would be more annoyed or worried if he was lashing out at her or bullying her etc. They both seem to be attracted to each other.
  22. Everyone (above all the posters) are wonderful. Enjoying reading this. I only watched this episode and last week's so this is the first time I've seen Jeremy. He definitely likes that his princess bride has been living in her in ivory tower for so long. I agree Jinger was overlooked by both parents and with Jessa gone she likes the attention from anyone especially a handsome (in her eyes) man. I think it's possible they're acting. I like that Jeremy wants to live in Texas. I also liked how he didn't just parrot the right answers ala Derrick. My favorite Jeremy moment was when he said JB has a sense of humor and kids around. I don't think JB was kidding when Jeremy thought he was. I think Jeremy (and Derrick hadn't before marriage) hasn't really watched the show. I think JB is in for a bumpier ride with Jeremy. Jeremy's parents like Jinger and even the idea of their son being a Christian television star "celebrity" and seeing him happy and as they put it "seeing him find a woman who meets his criteria." However they seemed to find JB abrasive and I did too. Michelle was mostly quiet and then kissed Jeremy on the cheek as they were leaving! Why didn't Jinger get to do that? Didn't at some point the kids get GED. When Josiah talked about certificates, I had gotcha! moment so the School of the Dining Room Table isn't good enough to get it's students GEDS anymore. We knew the homeschooling was falling apart and that's almost proof. I suppose the other kids have GEDS and Duggar Academy Certificates, but how can anyone think those Duggar Academy certificates mean something?
  23. Fruits and vegetables and more natural foods are said to promote fertility. If Jill is worried she isn't pregnant, she may have started eating healthier.
  24. Today New York Times crossword puzzle had a nice shout out to Michelle, they included the word quinquagenarian --- someone is between the ages of 50 and 59. Perfect timing for the first day Michelle is 50. New season of life indeed!
